Reviews for Jugendherberge Heidelberg International

Review 1:I didn't like that I had to pay extra for almost everything: a membership I didn't need, a 10 Euro key deposit, and most important of all, the wi-fi that doesn't even work in rooms. Directions said it was a 10 min walk from the train station, however it took me much longer to walk there in the rain. The area is isolated except university buildings. As a weary traveller I had some difficulty opening my door at first because you have to follow some instructions. Lastly, it is rather expensive for a hostel.

Review 2:The dorm was clean and spacious. Breakfast was very good. Close to bus stop.

Review 3:The front dest is impolite which I require a welcome stamp however he insisting on giving me a card which I really did not need and cost much more. There is no shops nearby and it takes a lot to walk to the nearest store. At night there is too much noise in the corridor which one cannot fall into sleep easily. And there are college student gathering in the hall at night who are yelling and screaming. Plus even if you want to pay, you still did not have internet at all! It is just too awful to stay here. I was so lucky I only stay for one night.

Review 4:Waitress at bar was quite nice to people. The room is clean.

Review 5:Poor internet (wifi available only in the lobby, but still moderate signal, only 30 mins for free).

Review 6:Nice modern hostel, easy access with public bus during day and night. Very clean. Nice breakfast. Overall perfect quality/price value.

Review 7:The wireless is paid and the "free" did not work from my room. The bed wasn't very confortable. They charged 6 euros more because I am older than 27 years.

Review 8:Good price. Very nice staff. Close to the zoo. Very good (free) breakfast and (paid - €5.90) dinner.

Review 9:Very poor internet not worth having. Also mattress covers are plastic. Otherwise one of the best HI,s I've stayed in

Review 10:Friendly staff, location very good for walking. But possibly a little out of town for some. Breakfast was very good and a good price per night.

Review 11:Booking.com listed the apartment as €120 but in truth it was around ~€140 because 27 yrs+ pay more. Maybe the price breakdown is on booking somewhere but I did not notice it when booking. Also, the beds and bathrooms were clean but my 1 yr old crawler did end up with pretty dirty hands and knees from the floor.

Review 12:It was a good, basic, clean accommodation in a good location. Loved the breakfast.

Review 13:Be sure to check the conditions of the property as it is mainly for jung germans(you will have to pay extra otherwise). Breakfast was basic and very crowded with children. It is also out of the way, far from the city center.

Review 14:I had a good nights sleep, and it was nice to have a room with a bathroom.

Review 15:It is an international youth hostel, hence if you aren't a member they charge extra price per night after to reach there. WiFi is available only in the reception area, free of charge only for an hour in a day.

Review 16:Breakfast was excellent

Review 17:WiFi needed to be paid after 30 mins. The out-of-order drying machine in laundry room. But the staff tried to solve the problem returned the money to me.

Review 18:The staffed are really nice!

Review 19:No free WiFi (30mins/day only) Problems with reservation, had to move between rooms - could be a booking.com problem, though

Review 20:Located next to the zoo Big rooms Breakfast included Quiet

Review 21:It was too expensive. Especially because it was so far away. And the additional 3.50 euro for the 'membership' is absolutely ridiculous. There was no soap in our room either.

Review 22:The light in the shower almost fell off the ceiling while showering. It was a really big one and could have potentially caused injury. It was hanging on a string only. When I told the staff their only reply was "Oh". No "we're sorry", no compensation. A little poor..

Review 23:Bed, cleanliness

Review 24:there was really nothing negative about this hostel. I suppose it would have been even better if there had been Wi Fi available in the rooms.

Review 25:The youth hostel had the feel of a quality hotel. It is clean, comfortable and the meals are yummy and plentiful. All the staff was friendly and helpful. The location next to the zoo and river allowed for pleasant walks

Review 26:- some of the staff were a little bit indifferent.

Review 27:- the room is good, people in the same room are friendly. - the breakfast is good and there are some packages (not free) for taking way if you have to run very early. - the rate of internet is good, you can pay for 24 hours to access the internet with an acceptable rate.

Review 28:There could be AC outlets near each bed in the dorms. The location is a little too far from the center (about 4km)

Review 29:The rooms are very clean and the staff is very helpful and friendly

Review 30:some staffs' attitude is terrible. no wifi in the room. and i was forced to be charged some extra fees

Review 31:all the People there were Reals unfriendly

Review 32:The Room ist clean and very big

Review 33:Internet connection is very weak

Review 34:Breakfast is very good. It is close to Heidelberg university. Only wifi connection is not good

Review 35:The poor wifi.

Review 36:Everything - except poor wifi.

Review 37:Everything is good.

Review 38:staff was very helpful and polite, WiFi was working perfectly, breakfast was OK

Review 39:Free wifi is only 30 minutes every 8 hours. And the electronic wave was so weak that I could not use it efficiently.

Review 40:Clean and quiet.

Review 41:Breakfast was medium, bad coffee.

Review 42:Fast check-in.

Review 43:Free wifi wasn't working.

Review 44:Nice and clean, good location.

Review 45:not enougth staff bunk beds only

Review 46:location parking

Review 47:Facilities, breakfast

Review 48:Cleanliness, and location and friendly staff as well as super comfy beds

Review 49:It's near the new university and zoo. Oh. I like the university very much. The old city. It's my favorite city.

Review 50:paid wifi and only in public areas.

Review 51:breakfast.

Review 52:its a bit far away from city center

Review 53:breakfast included with a wide variety of food to choose

Review 54:Good bus access. Very clean, modern, good cheap meals

Review 55:no internet in the room

Review 56:Clean

Review 57:Location is good for uni students but not so great for travellers

Review 58:Clean and spacious with nice staff

Review 59:The place is far from the main city, and there are lac of basic staff in the room as soup. Check out at 10:00.

Review 60:The breakfast was good.

Review 61:location,even bus32 can reach, too many additional fees and already can choose better hotel.

Review 62:None

Review 63:Breakfast Parking Facilities

Review 64:The atmosphere feels pretty much like an institution; hospital, prison, army base, you name it.

Review 65:Facility is great.

Review 66:no wi fi, a bit expensive

Review 67:big rooms, great breakfast

Review 68:The room door lock almost complicated.but I know it was design for security reason.

Review 69:If wifi is free will be better like other hostel.

Review 70:Details on how to get from city to hostel would be nice or be made more clear regarding buses etc

Review 71:This is not a hotel it is a Hostel. The zoo animals that happen to live next door are very loud. The whole place was awful.

Review 72:I hated this place.

Review 73:No wi-fi in the bedrooms, and even though it was available downstairs, it was paying...

Review 74:They were all very king. The Hostel is quite new and it is nicely designed. Good variety for breakfast. It is well linked by bus, although frequency is not that good in the evening.

Review 75:This's a very terrible hotel,be very very long away from city center maybe u can walk for 40min,and if u want Wi-Fi,u need paid 2 euro every hour, and that's really really slow!I can't upload pic to my facebook!! I think this hotel not ur good choose!!He really drives me round the bend.

Review 76:location

Review 77:I left something in hotel. The stuff kept it and contacted me soon. They're so nice and professional. The breakfast is rich, and the room is big, clean and quiet.

Review 78:Single tourist only allowed to live in the ground floor.Other flooors are only for group tourists. It is discrimination against single tourist. Same price, different service. Some staff are not friendly.

Review 79:The location is good.

Review 80:Kinda pricey (~30euro for a bed in a 4 bed room), wifi is not free, not very close to the city center

Review 81:Modern hostel, very spacious and clean, good breakfast

Review 82:After I had booked, a number of additional costs were introduced (fornon- members of the Int. Youth Hostel Association), so this was not thebargain I was expecting. The final charge meant I could have achievedbetter value for money elsewhere.

Review 83:A staff gave me a wrong room. So the original guest made me wake up and I had to move other room with my all of baggages in midnight. I was so angry but there is no any service as compensation. That made me upset much more

Review 84:Various menu of breakfast and clearness.

Review 85:If you are a member of a jh association this would be economical. Since we were not, I had to pay extra fees, and in the end, could have stayed in a decent hotel for the same money.

Review 86:We wanted to try the experience of the jugendherberge, though we are not members of any of the associations. It was interesting, and very much like a university dormatory.

Review 87:1. There's a trick of the rate. The total charge showing in the conf letter was including surcharge but there has a small writing below saying a service charge of 5 Euro is not including, which means on top of the total charge you have to pay extra surcharge. It is my fault not find it but the hotel may consider to list the price clearly, not make them separating, confusing and tricky. 2. Considering the price paid, the location is not good. 3. Check in is complicated, and they charged for the key deposit via my credit card instead of making a pre-auth.

Review 88:They do not honor booking. com quoted prices - I had an international hostel federation membership card brought from home, I did read the small letters but still ended up paying 5 euro more for absolutely nothing. And the kid at the desk was incompetent and rather reluctant to explain what an how they charge.

Review 89:It is a well desined and well kept space with a lot of extra facilities, like tv room and sports options. Very children and family friendly, very good bathroom for a hostel. Excellent breakfast!

Review 90:- no kitchen or fridge available in the hostel. It is even forbidden to bring in own food. - internet only in reception area and it costs 5 EUR/day

Review 91:clean, new building

Review 92:When I had the sightseeing in the down town,I found my Visa card lost!!!!In that moment,I'm really nervous,I went back to the hostel,I can't believe I would get my card back from the front desk,I think they are very friendly and professional because they keep my card!!!!I felt super thankful to the clew, and the room is clean and bid,so I think the price is reasonable and acceptable, the breakfast also is really good, this hostel is suitable for everyone!!

Review 93:Internet needs extra cost doesn't accept card for under 5 europayments, and only returns cash for deposit of keys

Review 94:Hostel is on new campus of Heidelberg University5.9 euro for dinner buffet is cheap

Review 95:there is a lot of small flies in the room. Fortunately they don't bite. There is no TV set and no soap in the room.

Review 96:friendly staff, I liked the design of the hotel.

Review 97:Floor of the bathroom is not even and conducive for the flowing of water. The hotel said booking charges 5 euros fo人service which it does not declare in the confirmation letter

Review 98:good location, clean and economical

Review 99:Paid wifi is only available in public area. The hostel is a little far away from city center. But considering with the price, all are acceptable.

Review 100:The room was very clean and comfort. The price was good. The breakfast was good. A very well managed and good value hostel.

Review 101:no specials

Review 102:small but very clean. Though it is far from alt stadt, but it is easy to take Bus no 32 /31 between downtown and Hostel. In addition, it is pleased to meet young friends over the world.

Review 103:There were limited parking spaces directly outside the hotel. But there is still free parking 5 minutes away from the hotel. On a warm summer day, the room can get heated due to there being no air conditioning in the rooms.

Review 104:Though the hostel is located outside the city of Heidelberg and the Altstadt (Old City), the hostel is located next to a bus stop. The hotel sells bus bus tickets too. The hostel has a great breakfast in the morning.

Review 105:The fees are too expensive. There has extra fee not show on the website about using the room fees. All the fees adding together is too expensive.

Review 106:The transport is convenient. There has bus arrive directly. The staff is friendly and help us call the cab because we need to catch the train early in the morning.

Review 107:In total there was nothing I relly did not like. Maybe a nostalgic memory of hostels of my youth (I am now 61 years old) when they cost nearly nothing, you had to help clean before you could leave, no running hot water, etc.. but that was then!

Review 108:I was very well met at the desk when I arrived. The place was very well organised. Clean. WC and shower directly from the room! First class! I was only there a night while I was at a conferens in town, so I had no need nor time to use all the facilities.

Review 109:Keys! It was a safe hostel for sure, but to open the doors while you arevery tired after a lot of miles, hours was extremely an horribleexperience for me. It could be something simple, and there could be morestaff to help other than the one at the welcome desk.

Review 110:Breakfast! I like it so much, there were a lot of things to eat anddrink/I think it worthed the money I gave at this point. Plus theyput extra bags for you to put your meal to take away!

Review 111:Lady part of the Staff in the morning ( blond Woman, I suppose her name is Justyna, she was in, at 7 am on 1st of April 2013). I have never experienced in my life such a lack of humanity/indifference in in any trip have done ( I have travelled quite a lot in my life). I had asked of basic help ( becuase I was without passport) She let me wait 20 minutes, to have any basic help however she has been told it was an emergency. After I waited 20 minutes -without any reason becuase there was nobody in the hall at 6,40 am..I asked her if she could have checked website - Embassy, Police..she did not do it She was rude, not helpfull, indifferent, with basic english, not really good too ( the only thing she has done it is to print out ) I have realized she was unable/unwilled to help me, i have asked if i could check by myself 5 minutes the italian embassy website, she told me no..showing a lack of understanding that I have never experienced in my life. If you have some troubles, issues and you are in this Hostel, with This Person working..please just escape..you will save time..

Review 112:Night Staff was comprehensive

Review 113:Nothing including in the price! When you book it, you must pay attention to that!

Review 114:Clean is the only recommended thing, but maybe just because it is new! It is still building when I live there!

Review 115:It's a little bit far from the old city and difficult to find.

Review 116:It's a nice and clean dormitory.Staff are warm and helpful.I Arrivedearlier than the check-in time but the staff allowed me to get into myroom so that I could visit other places.

Review 117:It causes a lot of noise when closing the room door(you just can not shut the door quietly..

Review 118:Great breakfast!!!Quite a huge variety of food

Review 119:no free wifi in the room, breakfast ends too early

Review 120:The breakfast is delicious. The room is clean

Review 121:Quite far away from the actual city centre (45min walk)

Review 122:Nice and helpful staff, top position if you have to go at the uni-klinik.

Review 123:Wifi was available just in public saloon and it was not free

Review 124:The staff was friendly and took great care, room and building was clear.

Review 125:ok

Review 126:Miles away from anything.

Review 127:Wifi not

Review 128:Poor accomodation conditions. Extracharge 10eur for a mandatory hostelling card. No wi.fi, no tv in rooms.

Review 129:Good breakfast
