Reviews for Hotel-Restaurant Maier
Review 1:The second morning the water in the shower was cold.
Review 2:Room was not very large, but confortable. Breakfast had a very good choice and very good products. Staff always helpful and nice. Despite check-in is closing at 23:00 they arranged for me to arrive after midnight, which was very kind.
Review 3:- Newer Hotel with comfortable bed and very clean and quiet rooms - Staff was helpful - Reception staff speak English in case the guests do not speak German
Review 4:Everything about the hotel including great food & service at the restaurant. We want to add our special comments to Diana Ullmann at the reception front desk who was extremely accommodating to our extra requests. She is very professional, very pleasant & excellent representative for Hotel Maier. Thank you, Diana for making our stay relaxing & enjoyable & helping us get our overall schedule on track. Elena & Terry Pruss (Co., USA)
Review 5:stayed in the newer part of hotel, loved it. Stayed an extra night. Truly enjoyed the authentic European spa. Both dinner and breakfast were top notch. Located close to the lake, price is great for this hotel. We were biking Lake Constance, and they have a locked garage just for bicycles.
Review 6:Having to leave the hotel.
Review 7:From the second you walk through the front door everything impresses - friendly staff, comfortable rooms (make sure you get an air conditioned room if required for time of year), cleanliness, superb restaurant with locally sourced food and wine selection, accommodating to those like myself who do not speak German - very good breakfast in relaxing environment with a wide selection that should please most customers, complete with model. Zeppelin!!
Review 8:The hotel was rather hot as was our room If we opened the windows, the traffic noise was disturbing as it is located on a very busy road
Review 9:The room was clean and the bed comfortable It was quite spacious he breakfast was excellent and dinner at the restaurant superb
Review 10:Our room faced the pedestrian walk way which was fairly noisy at night with the cafe as few steps away from the hotel. I would recommend a room facing the court.
Review 11:Hotel is close to the train station and an easy 15 minute walk to Central Munich tourist attractions. Great breakfast selection. Staff was friendly.
Review 12:price between comfort single room and normal single room is very high, around 40 euros per night, very hot in the room and no AC and to sleep with open window is very loud.
Review 13:Friendly staff, very helpful, nice room, clean and good quality of food.
Review 14:Parking was limited.
Review 15:The staff was friendly and helpful. Facilities were quiet, clean and pleasant. Food was wonderful. I loved the quaintness of the outside and the modernness of the inside. (We stayed in the new addition.)
Review 16:Problem checking in as we had booked superior room with sofa and seating area and had problem getting such room.
Review 17:Good location for the lake and friedrichscafen. Nice breakfasts. Ecellent air con as it was very hot. Free parking.
Review 18:The location says Friedrichshafen but it is far enough out of town that you will need a taxi or to drive into town and pay for parking if you are going to get a ferry or have dinner.
Review 19:The spa facilities were terrific with a steam room and sauna at no extra charge to the original room. Also the breakfast was truly exceptional with varieties of loose leaf tea and amazing fresh fruits with helpful staff.
Review 20:Had to get bedding changed cos seemed used, hairs on sheet. WiFi awful, only worked properly in reception. Not many parking spaces although I did get one.
Review 21:Good food
Review 22:Not enough parking places around the hotel.
Review 23:We stayed in a newly built part of the hotel. The room was really nice and comfortable. Breakfast was great. We recommend a visit to the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen.
Review 24:The location was quite a bit outside of Friedrichschaffen and there was really nothing around the hotel apart from houses. No shops or places to go within walking distance.
Review 25:The food in the restaurant was excellent, some of the best meals we had in Germany. Staff were friendly and helpful and bike hire was reasonable.
Review 26:The restaurant is excellent. The staff is very nice. The sauna. Very well located (200m from Lake Constance beach/public pool) and 6 km from the city center.
Review 27:Quite pricey
Review 28:Fast Internet conmection, great breakfast, bus stop is right acroos the street, direct free shuttle service to Messe

Review 38:nothing
Review 39:everything
Review 40:No parking at the hotel, room old and very small, expensive. Breakfast not very good.
Review 41:Restaurant is ok, very nice people and Good food
Review 42:The room was very nice and clean, the brekfast good and complete
Review 43:It is too far out of Friedrichshafen and on a busy road
Review 44:The restaurant is very good
Review 45:Too hot room
Review 46:Location, restaurant team and food
Review 47:The warm atitude to the visitors, ready to help, nice breakfast, good restaurant.
Review 48:It is not a 4-star hotel, neither for its services nor for the accommodation standard.
Review 49:Nothing special.
Review 50:The bed was a bit too soft.
Review 51:Location, staff, breakfast.
Review 52:windows towards the street should be better isolated-noisy wall are thin, you can hear the neighbours
Review 53:Well run and great location
Review 54:The distance to Freidrichaven could be a problem. Also the lack of parking as we had to park in the street.
Review 55:Clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good.
Review 56:Very hard to fault the hotel
Review 57:Superb hotel - very good restaurant, good relaxing breakfast - very friendly staff - family run hotel - good position close to bus stop and railway station - close to lake and well positioned for most parts of the northern shore of Lake Constance.
Review 58:Single romm was very small, bathroom was extremly tiny and uncomfortable. All prententious and much overpiced. Location - yes, close to lake but not perfect: far from anything but swimming pool. Would do better to be a motel rather than posh hotel.
Review 59:The hotel was just CORRECT, nothing special to like, neither to dislike.
Review 60:Room was exceptionally hot during the nice sunny weather and air-con was noisily trying to overcome that. The sloping roof in the small room made sure that you got out of bed on the right side. The TV was not watchable due to interference or other problem, not corrected despite my pleas. A long way to the centre of Friedrichshafen through heavy traffic.
Review 61:The staff were pleasant and it was close to Bodensee. Dinner was fine.
Review 62:Unless you arrive in personal auto, the distance from the center of Friedrichshafen could be a problem.
Review 63:Food was excellent. Beer was excellent. Service very attentive to specific needs.
Review 64:A little noise from the road could be heard when the window was open.
Review 65:The room and facilities were absolutely excellent. Most of the staff spoke fluent English and all were extremely helpful. The continental breakfast had a very good and fresh range of items all served in a lovely room. The hotel is very easy to find and parking was not a problem. The room was cleaned to perfection each day and my room had a view of the Alps and the Bodensee once the mist cleared. Would fully recommend the Hotel-Restaurant Maier.
Review 66:We have chosen this hotel for our discovering of Bodensee area but couldnot tell you that it was a perfect choice. The hotel is really dated. Itstill got 4 stars but do not put your attention to it. From one side itis not the real village Gasthouse without any stars (there are a lot ofthem in the south of Germany and Austria) where you do not need to putyour attention to facilities but just feel the atmosphere of thecountryside and from another side it is not the normal 4* city hotelwith all facilities. Looking from the “formal side”: room is big with alot of light and two windows. Bathroom is big with two washbasins andwindow. Looking from the “feeling side”: room looks really dated andcold because of colors. Carpet on the floor looks not really clean (butI must be fair - is clean at the same time). Bathroom interior anddesign comes from seventies and you clearly see it (at the same timeeverything is working properly – German quality). Breakfast is normal. It is not bad, it is not good, just normal. Coffee quality is reallypoor. Staff is also normal, enough friendly but not really welcoming. The only one lady was absolutely 100% perfect at the reception at ourarrival date (my fault not to remember her name to present here). Hotelgot restaurant in the building which got a Michelin guided label on thedoor (have not visited it because of price reason: for 22.5 eur forWiener Schnitzel I would travel to next village to have it more thantwice cheaper). No air-conditioning in the room even if it is declaredon Booking.com web page of this hotel. Parking space is not enough andsometimes it is rather tricky to park the car especially if you aredriving some bigger minivan or suv. All in all, if I decide to come backto Bodensee, I would consider another hotel and not in Friedrichshafenbut let us say in Meersburg.
Review 67:Lack of parking (we had to park our car and trailer tent at a railway station 500m from the hotel. No air-conditioning in our room while temperatures were in the 30's.
Review 68:Nice breakfast.
Review 69:With temperatures in mid 30's air conditioning would have been very welcome
Review 70:Large room. good bathroom, great breakfast and La Taverna Italian restaurant around the corner is just superb.
Review 71:Be warned the hotel is not in Friedrichshafen, its nearby in Fischbach and quite a way from the centre of town. Parking for motorcycles is interesting on a slope outside the front of the building. The only major complaint was the traffic noise, so ask for a room at the back.
Review 72:The staff were polite, helpful and spoke our language, the Breakfast was the usual continental affair fairly basic but no complaints. The rooms were comfortable and well turned out. Would we use the Hotel again, Yes but with rooms at the back.
Review 73:Nothing. All fantastic!
Review 74:Can't recommend this hotel enough. Not a plush chain hotel but a home from home with the most amazing staff and owners who made you feel completely relaxed from the moment you step inside. Room was huge with sofas and large bathroom. Airconditioning too - which is rare in this part of the world (but much needed) with blackout blinds and good double glazing ensuring a very good night's sleep. I had ridden down on my motorbike from the UK. The bike was covered in insect roadkill, but I was able to use their hose and was provided with a bucket and sponge to clean it with. When I got back late from a day at work (at the Messe) the restaurant was closed but I asked for some bread and they didn't hesitate. I took a couple of beers and my bread and sat in the courtyard reading my book. 10 minutes later, a huge plate of hams, cheese, fruit (with cherries) and pate was also brought over to me! Delicious and far beyond what they needed to do. The whole thing with beers had change from EUR 9. The owner always said good night as he road off home on his bike (I was often the last to leave the courtyard) and any request, big of small, was met with a smile and 'absolutely'. Will be staying there next year. Friedrichshafen (and surrounding areas) gets incredibly busy with local tourists enjoying Lake Constance and also with some large exhibitions which take place there. There simply isn't enough accommodation to go around so it's worth booking months ahead at the busy times. Finding a good hotel with Aircon is tricky but this is my favourite so far. No spa (though there is massage and a sauna) but it's half the price of the other spa hotels and much more friendly. Location is 5mins from Friedrichshafen, walking distance to the lake beach and 15mins to the Messe.
Review 75:Could have provided free mineral water in the rooms.
Review 76:Room were spacious Very very clean Very very quiet Great location for exploring the lake Staff spoke fluent English and were very good
Review 77:The unfolding sofa was not the most convenient place for sleeping. Consists of three parts and all of different heights.
Review 78:The hotel is well-renovated, looks nice and cosy inside and outside. We had a cosy and big room. Very clean. Really helpful and polite personnel. Nice restaurant.
Review 79:the manager refused to sell me a bottle of wine in the last day of the year cause the restaurant was booked up. i just wanted to take a bottle to my room and she said no. just no. really unfriendly. the rest of the staff in the other hand was very nice.
Review 80:friendly staff, nice breakfast, sauna.
Review 81:All was perfect
Review 82:The rooms were large, clean and the kooking was really nice andgorgeous. All was perfect and the location was also very useful tovisit the area.
Review 83:It is a bit far (5 km) from downtown. Internet didn't work very wellin my room.
Review 84:Nice hotel with good breakfast and beautiful room. There are apples toeat everywhere the whole day, showing the generosity of the management.
Review 85:Unfortunatley on a busy main road so quite noisy with the windows open.
Review 86:Nice,clean and comfortable.
Review 87:nothing, really good value for money!
Review 88:Great food, Quiet room, nice beakfast, friendly staff
Review 89:I expected the hotel closer to Friederichshafen.
Review 90:nice and quiet hotel, good restaurant
Review 91:The location was very good right on the main highway. It was very accessible to Friedrichshafen by bicycle. The restaurant was very good.
Review 92:position, a little bit outside the city center
Review 93:the restaurant inside the hotel is very nice
Review 94:They should have more sweet things more breakfast, e.g. cookies.
Review 95:The room was quiet
Review 96:The quietness and relax in the rooms area and the sauna. Good food in the restaurant and great breakfast. Personnel very friendly
Review 97:The room was very spacious and tidy. The restaurant was equally spacious with plenty of room for a private dinner. Good value for both!
Review 98:Nice location (300 m from Bodensee), free parking, free WiFi in rooms. Not far from Airport. Good restaurant.
