Reviews for Hotel Friedrichs
Review 1:WARNING On 2015 September 26-28 we’ve spent two nights in Hotel Friedrichs in Gemund. It was a disappointment: the room (no 10) was really small. When you open the door it touches the side of the bed. In the bathroom you can barely turn around. It struck us that the room was a lot smaller than the rooms shown on the Booking.com website. When showing the web pictures of the room to the manager (owner?) he — finally — admitted that the web pictures show rooms “de luxe”: “you should have booked the room using the hotel website, and not using Booking.com (… which offers only a single category of rooms)”. No understanding, no apologies, no compensation. If we had known the (small) size of the room (4 stars, 129 Euro per night), we would not have booked it. It is like Volkswagen diesel all over: promise a lot and deliver a lot less.
Review 2:The bathroom is much too small, definitely not adequate for older people. Getting into and out of the shower is even dangerous. Only one chair in the room.
Review 3:Friendly staff
Review 4:The 'plastic' mattress protection underneath the sheets, which made us sweat at night.
Review 5:A nicely renovated and decorated hotel. Very cosy room. Above expectation in this small town.
Review 6:This is a very traditional hotel in a very quiet village. It has a restaurant which seems popular with old people. Nothing much to do in the hotel or the town. I was last here 30 years ago, when stationed at Vogelsang, and the town seemed livelier then. Gemund seems to have lost all it's younger people in that time!
Review 7:Nothing really that outstanding. The check- in/out was the most efficient.
Review 8:Only one chair in room, and that was a hard upright. Paying for WIFI is a NoNo. Very little breakfast left at 0830 ..... the ravening hordes had ravened.
Review 9:OK for a transit stop, which was the intention. Not much choice in the area, so would use it again but only for a one-night stay.
Review 10:The room had a small Window that did not allow too much air to run through. In the toilet it seemed the fan was not working (note we did not call the reception to ask). The bed was actually 2 small beds not so confortable.
Review 11:The parking space was free, the room was clean and staff was friendly. Location is quite good if you like Walking in the nature or proximity to the national park.
Review 12:None
Review 13:The staff could not have been more helpful or welcoming. The renovations are very tasteful and restaurant was superb (we are there both nights and chose the 4 gang menu). A real treat - would love to come back next time we are in the Eifel.
Review 14:Town was very quiet in the evening despite being a Saturday night.
Review 15:Room was lovely, bright and airy. Restaurant was great, best veal steak I have ever had.
Review 16:The village Gemünd is not so special but it's position is good to explore the neighbourhood.
Review 17:Nice hotel, food a bit expensive. National park is beautiful!
Review 18:Beautiful hotel with a picturesque location. We ate in the restaurant on both nights we stayed there and the food was cooked to perfection.
Review 19:Nothing
Review 20:Centre of town. Terrace overlooking the river. Parking
Review 21:Quiet location, but very close to the heart of the town.
Review 22:None.
Review 23:Very clean, well maintained accommodation with efficient friendly staff. Good evening meal and a nice choice for breakfast.
Review 24:Great location and very good restaurant.
Review 25:Reception closes at around 8 pm
Review 26:It's right at the edge of the national park. They packed breakfast for us in the last day because we left quite early.
Review 27:............. Breakfast "tea" was EARL GREY, which is not what an Englishman should drink at breakfast. This was sorted but only because I have reasonable German, so non-speakers had best avoid [or order coffee!]
Review 28:Not our first visit, usually several nights on way South, but this was only one night room 8. Well appointed, pleasant view, quiet and value for money. Good breakfast but see .............
Review 29:When we made the reservation we asked for a non-smoking room. When we arrived at the hotel we found that our assigned room was for smokers. We addressed this with the staff at the reception desk, and we immediately received an apology and an upgrade to a better room. We were very impressed by the customer service.
Review 30:large rooms with a good balance of old and new, very clean and bright and clearly well maintained, friendly staff, excellent restaurant
Review 31:staff very good, friendly and smiling food very good
Review 32:Small rooms
Review 33:The restaurant Service Location
Review 34:Friendly staff, good rooms of business standard, good sauna but I would not call it a spa, great location for walking, dogs welcome
