Reviews for GDA Hotel Göttingen

Review 1:Breakfast could be better, Heating in the room was not efficient.

Review 2:Very nice hotel, huge spacious room, courteous , helpful staff. Location is good. Very huge property.

Review 3:It wasn't a major problem, but the staff did not tend to speak English as it states on the web site. Not a major issue as I say but, this should be made clear. Also, there was some difficulty with paying by bank cards and credit cards. Basically, they didn't seem to work with their system. Not our French Cards or our British Cards! I don't know what we would have done if we hadn't our French Cheque Book with us! This of course would have been a problem for a UK or non - EU customer. Perhaps there should be a little more emphasis on the fact that GDA Gottingen is first and foremost a Senior Citizens Residence. It doesn't actually say hotel on the entrance to the building.

Review 4:The quality and comfort of the rooms is very high,. in fact you get a suite of rooms!. Also the food is of a high standard too.

Review 5:The fact to be in something like a hospice/hospital for old people. The mattress was very unconfortable

Review 6:They gave me a small apartment instead of a room. It was clean and big

Review 7:a little far from the center, but there is parking and public transportation available.

Review 8:clean and comfortable room, good breakfast. Good WIFI connection as well. Good for a long stay since there is ample room and a kitchen. Good price when compared to other hotels in the area.

Review 9:Excellent idea to have a hotel in housing area for elderly people! The staff was extremely friendly, there was a calm and peaceful atmosphere and the breakfast was one of the best I´ve had on a Business trip!

Review 10:Very badly managed property - we had to request everything at thereception (even toilet paper) For most of our week-long stay, we had norunning water during the day - when we asked for some compensation, theyjust gave us a bucket to flush the toilet (a bit strange when you payalmost 100 EUR/day). We got notified about inavailability of waterone day in advance (we booked 2 months in advance) and nobody evenapologised - the strange piece of paper we got to our room a day beforethey switched the water off said just "thanks forundersanding"(in German) No kitchen hardware (we had to buy evenpots) All information is only in German, half of receptionists do notspeak English Poor wifi

Review 11:Spacious rooms Clean

Review 12:Very bad mattress (in my room, others had good ones). 24 min by bus to city center. Quality of breakfast service was average.

Review 13:Great price. Friendly and helpful stuff. Supreme cleanliness. Nice room. Frequent public transport (about every 15 minutes).

Review 14:In the website is mentioned that diet food can be requested, but glutenfree food is not available. Although a kitchinette with coocking plates is available, there isn't a pot or pan in the room. Since I have to follow a glutenfree diet, I 'm obliged to coock my own meals. With a lot of patience I finally got one small pot from the restaurant.

Review 15:Very clean, large rooms, convenient. Quiet place.

Review 16:- price for bowling - a bit away from the center of the city -- 30 minutes fast walk

Review 17:- bed -- orthopedic with multiple positions and adjustments (result of the place being a set of rooms in a retirement community...) - bowling alley - breakfast

Review 18:Nothing!

Review 19:Staying at an old people's home was a new thing - and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the stay. In all aspects, the GDA in Göttingen served us well. The room was large, the bathroom was practical and pleasant, the restaurant was fine, the morning table had a good variety of food. And the opportunity to talk with elderly citizens there was taken and worked well. For young and old to meet like that could help keep people feel less isolated. We will try to stay with the GDA in Göttingen or other cities some other time.

Review 20:One of the most comfortable mattresses to sleep on. Room with living room and big bathroom - was excellent. Delicious breakfast. One suggestion: the hotel should post on the webpage when the swimming pool and the bowling facility are not available, so one can already plan ahead, mainly with children. Super. We'll come back when we are in the area again.

Review 21:The hotel was out in the sticks, but some people like it that way. No obvious local restaurants other than the hotel one.

Review 22:Quiet. Full-size room with balcony. Cooking facilities. Fridge. Large shower room. Good breakfast. The hotel catered primarily for elderly people, who were far in the majority. Panic buttons in the room. Strange environment for me but excellent value for money. Good bus service to town.

Review 23:The rooms were some of the best value for money I've ever experienced. It is a retirement residence with rooms for a hotel stay, and the mix is lovely. There are internet and swimming facilities, as well as walking trails, and bowling! An experience for sure, but a really lovely one. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Review 24:A minor issue arose when the Restaurant Manager did not have us on her breakfast list, which was quickly and efficiently resolved. We arrived very late the night before, so this may have been the reason.

Review 25:The quality of the establishment was outstanding. The quality of the rooms really excellent. Generally staff very friendly, polite and helpful. It was interesting that the hotel was part of a larger community, which seemed to work very well.

Review 26:The somewhat clinical aspect of the personal accommodation. The hotel was in a residential area and quite far from alternate eating places.

Review 27:Very good and adjustable beds, spacious personal accommodation. Excellent breakfast in pleasant restaurant. Very good free Wi-Fi.

Review 28:Communication in English very difficult. When the stove in one of the rooms didn't work, nobody came to fix it. The hotel was far from Goettingen up the hill.

Review 29:Spacious room

Review 30:This is a place for old people and not a hotel. I felt like sleeping in a hospital ...

Review 31:Clean and space.

Review 32:Together with senior home

Review 33:Staff couldn't speak English very well and that I didn't know the Hotel was a Seniors house, though that wasn't a problem.

Review 34:Large comfortable rooms with panoramic views over the city. Close to downtown and easy access from the motorway.

Review 35:Nothing, loved it all!!

Review 36:Being in an old folks home. Made us 70 year olds feel young!

Review 37:Rooms nice and airy and above all very clean. Staff friendly and helpful at all times.cannot find anything to fault. Very happy during my stay.

Review 38:Everything

Review 39:It's a little far from the Old Town. 15 - 20 minutes by bus -- though the connection is excellent.

Review 40:Vera pleasant place to stay if one does not mind being surrounded by elderly.

Review 41:It is a very cosy hotel. Next time I will be in the region I will try to stay again in GDA hotel Gottingen

Review 42:staff accommodating, good clean room as the reviews read.

Review 43:long distant from center; did not know it was a home for elderly

Review 44:Good breakfast, good housing

Review 45:It's right on the edge of the city. Takes 20 minutes by bus to get to the city center. This is somewhat mitigated by the fact that there is a bus stop right outside the accommodation.

Review 46:This is actually a place for elderly people, most of whom are very nice. They were always smiling and tried to make conversations with me. (Unfortunately I speak very little German.) There is a bus stop right outside the accommodation. It is very close to a forest where you can go to take a walk. Overall very clean and tidy.

Review 47:Noise of construction works next door to my room. Bed was a little bit too soft.

Review 48:This is a place for elderly people, but I - feeling much younger - felt very much welcome. Nice room, delicious breakfast, etc.

Review 49:No WiFi or other type of internet access.

Review 50:Very quiet location with great views. Large nature reserve (Göttingen's "city forest") starts right behind the building and has lots of walking and jogging trails. Within 5 minutes' walking distance, there are stops for 4 bus lines, going to the city center (old town), the central station, and the university medical center. Recently renovated room with quality furnishings and kitchenette. Breakfast with large selection of breads, cold cuts & cheeses, jams, etc. Washing machines and dryers in basement. Very friendly and helpful personnel. The elderly residents are very polite and quite dapper. (Don't go for breakfast in a T-shirt, shorts and flip-flops!) It's a seniors' residence, not a nursing home. (PS: Contrary to what it says on their website, you can pay with credit cards - it's only AMEX that's not accepted.)

Review 51:Waterboiler did not work so i couldn't make myself a tea. Well its an senior home, with some rooms being used as hotel, its not necesarily bad but its funny if you weren't expecting it.

Review 52:Room was large and very nicely decorated, it felt like an apartment. It had its own kitchenette too, and fridge. There is complementary fruit in the room, nice touch! Beds were incredible confortable (orthopedic beds with electronic adjustable highths and possitions). Balcony with view to the forest

Review 53:No wi-fi internet connection even with charge.

Review 54:Room was quite wide and comfort. It furnished like a private home. Itotally liked it. Balcony is also another facility. Free parking.

Review 55:Just one saucepan for cooking.

Review 56:Nice apartment, short drive to center.

Review 57:No internet available.

Review 58:99% of people were 99 years old

Review 59:big clean and quiet room, good breakfast, parking place for motorcycle.

Review 60:No credit card

Review 61:nice place
