Reviews for Hotel Gasthaus zur Sonne
Review 1:We stayed at a room with balcony, and when I booked it I thought it would have a good street view or something from the balcony. In fact, the balcony seems useless and waste of money.
Review 2:The bar and restaurant is pretty good. Nice location.
Review 3:The hotel is right in the centre of Dinkelsbuhl, which is extremely pretty. Great breakfast, terrific regional German dinner. Spacious and modern family suite. Very friendly and generous staff.
Review 4:This hotel is perfectly located right in the town centre. The room is clean and spacious with wooden floors. The restaurant has amazing food, all reasonably priced. The servings are huge....big enough for two to share. Highly recommend the schnitzel champignon. The breakfast is also very good. You can ask for hot eggs, bacon and hot chocolate. Excellent service in the restaurant. There is free parking in the evening right in the town. During the day, you can park in a designated lot just outside of the centre. Dinkelsbuhl is a lovely small town. We stayed for two nights. Highly recommend this hotel and town.
Review 5:Was a walk up one floor.
Review 6:The manager Mario was very helpful. It was a one floor walk up and he took care of it for us. Restaraunt was great and location in town was excellent. Great breakfast, too.
Review 7:No complaints.
Review 8:Located in the center of a medieval walled town, can't get any better than that. Stayed here before and will come again. Friendly professional staff.
Review 9:Nothing.
Review 10:Outstanding value for the money. Huge 2 BR apartment with kitchenette was perfect for our family of 4. Staff was wonderful and breakfast was outstanding.
Review 11:Nothing
Review 12:Very friendly staff. The room is simple but very clean and nice. Very relaxing small town and can shopping around. Their breakfast is very nice.
Review 13:The obliging staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The location is excellent and the food was extremely good. If you're looking for wurst and coleslaw, this isn't where you'll get it.
Review 14:We stayed at the Gasthaus zur Sonne when the whole town was celebrating Dinkelsbühls festival Kinderzeche. (17-23 july) It was a great place to stay, in the center of the festival. It seemed like everyone was gathering there. Our apartment was on the third floor. It had a very big bedroom with a double bed, facing the front of the building, with fridge, safe, sitting space, TV. It had a hall where the huge bathroom was and there was another room with a double bed, and a kitchen with stove and fridge, coffee machine and water heater, TV and a table sitting 4 people. It was super convenient and comfortable. Newly renovated and a great place to stay during the festival, because the parade was walking just outside. The breakfast was simple, a small minus for the review. The Gasthaus had a very big Biergarten and restaurant where we ate Schnitzel. It was very good, and it came with a very good salad. It is very difficult to find a parking spot in the streets of the old town during festival time, so we left our car at P4, just 200 metres north east, just outside the city walls. It was free. People in town were amazingly friendly (even if one or two had had a beer too much!) Almost everyone was wearing lederhosen or the traditional 1600 dresses... (It could be good to have ear plugs if you do not want to party and need to go to bed early, the DJ played music until over 1 am) The apartment had no aircondition, but we got a very good sleep anyway. Another thing to consider is that there are 2 big stairs to the second floor and then a small spiral stair once inside the apartment, so carrying up big luggage could be a bit tricky... But if you have lots of stuff, the apartment is very big and has lots of place.
Review 15:Very warm in the room with no a/c during summer. Glad we didn't travel with small children as party was very loud until 3am
Review 16:Great location and nice new rooms.we arrived when folkfeche startede which was fun to experience
Review 17:Great place for one night stay in Dinkelsbuhl - located in the very center of the town. Clean comfortable room and rich breakfast. Highly recommended!
Review 18:Be prepared to carry your luggage by the stairs for 2-3 floors as it is normal that a medieval house doesn't have a lift. Even the girls from the staff hurry up to help you with this which is great. Breakfast wasn't rich enough.
Review 19:In between houses from 15th and 16th century, unique location on the main square in front of an imposing cathedral from 12th century. Great for walking around the town by foot. Although in medieval house rooms inside are with modern furniture and alll that you need. If on weekdays you don't want to pay for the parking outside or there;s no place, free parkings outside the town walls are just 4-5 minutes away by walk
Review 20:We booked the apartment but once we arrived the room was taken and we had to divide in two rooms. The fan of the bathroom was noisy and was going non stop making it difficult to sleep (I pointed this out and I hope it will be fixed).
Review 21:Staff very helpful and kind. Even though the rooms are close to a "night club", they are perfectly sound proof. Very good breakfast.
Review 22:Nothing I didn't like.
Review 23:Great mixture of modern and historic architecture and interior design. Outstanding restaurant (I hardly ever eat at the hotels I stay at but I am glad I did). Very clean and comfortable rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. I would recommend Gasthaus zur Sonne to anyone.
Review 24:Centrally located, we took in all the sights and activities of opening day of the Weihnachtsmarkt in Dinkelsbuehl. What a wonderful, delightful walled city. Shops are great, our hotel absolutely perfect! Food was also great, we could not ask for more. And parking space was allowed to us as well.
Review 25:The staff are exceptional, very pleasant and helpful. The hotel itself is very clean, the room was well furnished, and the location very central. There was a wide selection of breakfast items, very fresh and tasty. We highly recommend this hotel.
Review 26:Parking is free but about 250 yards away. Not bad but not clear at first.
Review 27:The location on the town square is perfect. The breakfast sumptuous and the restaurant has a big menu and reasonable prices (Try schnitzel night)
Review 28:Although not a problem for me, some guests mentioned there room was near the bar/lounge and noise was a problem at night.
Review 29:Room was large and comfortable, restaurant had excellent food and attracted locals.
Review 30:The alternative did not look as comfortable and was very dated.
Review 31:The facilities looked first class, but due to an illness of an existing resident we were placed in a neighbouring hotel. All was arranged for us and the hotel staff were very helpful. Food and restaurant was superb.
Review 32:Parking was full, but parking outside town for free was OK (5 minute walk)
Review 33:Very nice rooms, seem brand new and clean. Good breakfast. Great location in the middle of town. Restaurant in the hotel is recommended!
Review 34:We chose to eat in the evening at the guest house but think the staff made a mistake with our order. We waited one and a half hours for our food. If we hadn't been staying there we would have walked out! No apology from the restaurant staff - not good service at all.
Review 35:The rooms, although not traditional, we're clean, comfortable and well thought out with all the facilities you could hope for including a coffee making machine. Also a lovely breakfast the following morning.
Review 36:Not the apartment described.. no kitchen facilities. Saturday night.. no sleep thanks to a very loud German party that went on until 4.40am... just before the morning church bells started up.
Review 37:Location was lovely and central with a great view. Room clean and service good.
Review 38:The room was good sized, clean, and came with a balcony. The wi-fi connection was fast, and there was a small kitchenette. The Gasthaus is right in the heart of the cutest part of Dinkelsbuhl (which is possibly the quaintest town ever!). The staff was very welcoming and helpful, and the breakfast was hearty buffet.
Review 39:The refurbished rooms in this historic hotel meant that we were comfortable while being in a great location. The staff were easy going and friendly. We had dinner at the restaurant which was the best meal of our whole Germany road trip.
Review 40:WiFi was free but not the very best .
Review 41:Room was spacious and very nicely furnished. Very clean. Atmosphere was excellent. Staff friendly and food served was great. I will visit again sometime.
Review 42:Staff - very responsive and friendly - nothing too much problem Nice big room even had attached Kitchenette and balcony Excellent location - definitely stay there again
Review 43:No elevator, most of rooms are on the 2nd floor. Some trouble with credit card payment, we have to pay restaurant in cash. Luckily, after several time, in the morning we're able to pay the room with credit card
Review 44:Extremely central position Free parking on the street for the night Good restaurant in the hotel

Review 62:Excellent hotel in the Old Town
Review 63:There wasn't an air conditioning and the Internet signal didn't work in the evening (slowly)
Review 64:This hotel is quiet, clean and has a good location
Review 65:Fantastic town centre location, a really nice old building with modern rooms, the best of both worlds.

Review 93:Beautiful rooms - clean and modern Great Location Great breakfast Fantastic value
Review 94:Room somewhat smallish
Review 95:Central location, beautiful and well renovated old house, nice view from the room
Review 96:Great location right in the Main Street, rooms are very good, able to get parking in the surrounding streets.
Review 97:Great room with wonderful views across the town. Close to everything we wanted to see. Good breakfast. Very friendly staff.
Review 98:Single room was small. No off-street parking.
Review 99:Great breakfast. Location. Restaurant food was good.
Review 100:Parking a problem, as the gasthaus is in the middle of a medieval town and hotel has not their own parking facilities.
Review 101:Friendly staff, great location, right in the middle of Dinkelsbuhl. Lovely atmosphere to the place
Review 102:Booking.com said that I had reserved a one-bedroom apartment for 3 adults, including a kitchenette. What we actually got was a room with two twin beds in it and the staff brought in an extra (very uncomfortable) cot that pieces were falling off of. No kitchenette to speak of. When I asked the staff person if the price would be different because we didn't get what we booked, she explained that no, we got what we booked. The price was for a twin room with a reduced price for the extra bed. And, we had to pay for breakfast. We would have passed on breakfast if I had known, but Booking said that breakfast was included. Also, when we got to the hotel at about 7 pm, no one was there except the waitresses from the restaurant. They were helpful enough, and friendly, but everything was very disorganized-- we had to wait for them to bring in the extra bed and put it together. It was so jammed in the room walking was difficult. But, since they obviously didn't work at the hotel, I waited to talk to a hotel staff person the next morning. Wish I felt like we got what we paid for.
Review 103:Location is great, right in heart of Dinkelsbuhl and walking distance to everything. Parking is free and not a problem. Breakfast is good-- standard German cold cuts, cheese, and bread. Room was clean. Restaurant downstairs was really good for dinner.
Review 104:We were told the parking was not on site when we arrived but I had thought that it was until that point. We parked our motorcycles beside the street and they were ok.
Review 105:Located within the old city walls this was a gem of a place. The old part of the town is very lovely. The hotel itself was excellent and I woud not hesitate to stay there again. Took many photographs.
Review 106:Was here on buisness so notified hotel inadvance internet was required, The internet connection was so sparodic it was almost unusable. They tried very hard to resolve the problem without success.
Review 107:perfect location in a beautiful Bavarian town , friendly staff room were very spacious clean and of modern design. Exellent breakfast choice ,very good value .
Review 108:I liked everything about it.
Review 109:The location is center city and the hotel has just complelted a remodeling. The rooms were large and you could still smell the newness in them. Wonderful two night stay. Good restrauant and breakfast.
Review 110:Poor wifi reception
Review 111:In the center of the old town. The traditional exterior but unlike most similar hotels it has modern rooms with good showers instead of something from the 70's. Good food and friendly staff.
Review 112:The rooms are 'sterile.' That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it could be anywhere in the world. Not much local character.
Review 113:Modern, clean rooms. Good restaurant downstairs (although the beer in the mini fridge is cheaper than downstairs!) excellent location. Good price. Excellent breakfast.
Review 114:The terrace closes at 2300 but there is a bar on the first floor of the hotel which made sleep impossible until 0300 when the last people finally went home The staff at breakfast were not the same as the ones in the restaurant the night before. They seemed to be half asleep/hungover and couldn't care less when I complained about the lack of sleep.
Review 115:The room was modern and clean The food was very good and the restaurant staff were friendly and helpful
