Reviews for Leonardo Royal Hotel Munich
Review 1:I don't like the fact that you have to pay for wifi at the exorbitant rates! We were told that you don't qualify for wifi because you booked through booking.com. Thats nonsense.
Review 2:The room and bar area are lovely. Felt very modern and well looked after.
Review 3:Even my booking was prepaid the hotel asked me for blocking some amount on my credit card , my card didn't work that day for some reason and they still insisted not to check me in until I gave them cash deposit which is not professional from such level of hotels , instead they can let me in and ask me to come back once again to authorise my card.
Review 4:Nice and modern hotel , well connected to center by nearby underground station , good breakfast.
Review 5:I suggest more varieties on breakfast , I have visited this hotel in summer many times and can say they are offering more options on breakfast when the hotel is fully booked.
Review 6:Nice hotel , very well maintained , I have stayed many times and every time I am impressed by the level of service.
Review 7:Room prices are a little steep while parking in the garage and wifi is not included. A lot of construction is going on around the hotel.
Review 8:Stylish hotel with very extensive breakfast buffet on central location. U-bahn station within only several hundred meters walking distance
Review 9:Expensive & bad quality net No value for Breakfast Very far from expo & city center No food after midnight !! Expensive parking Not friendly staff
Review 10:Room is ok
Review 11:1. No free Wifi in room and lobby, it is incredible. Come on, now is the 21st century, how much the cost of the WiFi is! Even hotels in Africa can provides free Wifi in rooms, why a Germany hotel charge so high for internet access? 18 euro one day 2. We decripted in the reservation that we are 2 adults and 1 baby. However, there is no boby colt in room. And more worse thing is the bed---twin beds. I think the king bed is much better than two beds. Because my little daughter was clicked between two beds in the mid night.
Review 12:Very good location and affordable cost
Review 13:Personnel of the Hotel looks on the guests very unfriendly!!! No help!!! cleaning service satrt to bother everybody at 7,30/8.00 .. will no use this hotel anymore
Review 14:clean nice hotel
Review 15:Much too far from the center of tourist attractions. It takes more than 30 minutes to get to the city center by subway. Taxi is no faster. It is OK for a conference but not for sight seeing.
Review 16:Hotel and staff are fine,
Review 17:It's a Royal Hotel, but you have to pay for extras: wifi is not for free.
Review 18:The room was very comfortable, the location is near the tube stop and the Hotel is very nice.
Review 19:Lovely hotel Short distance to the underground Really friendly staff Rooms were really nice and cleaned daily. All in all we are booking this hotel again for next year. I would recommend it to everyone wanting to visit Munich
Review 20:I stayed at first floor and you could hear the music until late. Being on a business trip and needing to wake up early for a meeting , did not have the best rest!!
Review 21:facilities and breakfast were very good
Review 22:Unfortunately i have booked a room in this hotel and i had the surprise that i was charged twice, once 160 euro as a reservation for the room i have booked (hotel 110 euro for the room and 50 euro as caution). On the day i have checked out i was again charged for the room and services i have booked on the room and the money retained on the day of my arrival was not released. I was informed that in maximum 7 days the 160 euro will be automatically released. After several mails an calls to my bank the 160 euro where released after two weeks. Totally unapropiate hotel policy .
Review 23:The wifi I payed for high speed wifi and yet it was hardly 1GB (the speed) not all the room are the same The elevators location was well away from some rooms which was problem for older people
Review 24:It would be highly recommended if you have a porters to help your guests with there luggage .
Review 25:It's ridiculous you still have to pay for Wifi in 2015 -- and it's ridiculously poor afterwards. Overpriced hotel, there are better in Munich in the same price range. It's not luxury, just luxury priced.
Review 26:Nice, quiet room
Review 27:The staff on the reception was unfriendly, but the assistance manager (Stephan) was very cooperating and understanding. This means that you need to talk to the manager or his assistance to get thru. The air-conditioning in my room was not working, they could not fix it. I had to sleep in it coz the hotel was fully booked. The view from the window was on a construction site with a lot of noise. I request an extra bed for my daughter, they refused for safety means. I explained that it is mentioned in their hotel policy in Booking.com, that it is possible, but they refused. Instead, they offered me an additional room which they charged around 600 euros for the first night, does NOT include breakfast! I had to take it as i had no other choice! :*( I met some other guests in the lobby complaining about similar treatment.
Review 28:Pay very much attention when they ask for your cerdit card when checking in. The hotel will book the room cost and additional 50 euro deposit charges. They will release the amount after 7 days and wont release it manually at checkout ! At checkout they charge you the cost of the room and other cost you may have booked on your room. So at checkout you actually have payed the hotel cost and blocked for 7 days the room cost and 50 euro deposit!
Review 29:yeah, wifi is the problem. But the hotel said they will fix this next year. So if your plan is to go there next year, then do not worry.
Review 30:Thanks the guy in the front desk to solve our problem. I am so sorry I can not remember the name but he is being really helpful for us . Good location , near the BMW museum and Olympic Park (BTW, you still need a car to drive there, I do not recommend walk to there two places).
Review 31:Not enough staff at check-out and therefore slow. Overpriced breakfast and no closet space. There was a 20cm wide closet but no drawers or other places to put your closes
Review 32:Style
Review 33:I stayed three night they didn't change the bed sheet but they only fixed it. I told them when I checked out. I found out from my friend they didn't change her bed sheet until she asked them after six days.
Review 34:The breakfast is more about quantity than quality, but still very satisfying! Internet is not free (but rather expensive).
Review 35:The hotel is big and looks luxurious! It is well staffed and they seem to know what they are doing! The rooms are modern, clean and the AC is excellent! The breakfast has a huge selection range! probably the biggest I have seen! There is free (1 EUR per 24h) parking across the street! Great hotel in general!
Review 36:We ordered a baby-bed in advance - due to late arrival. Everyone who has had the experience of a sleeping child at 1 o'clock in the morning is happy to have that set up. Although is reconfirmed twice - failure ! The concierge was sorry and helpful.
Review 37:Design, Property, Staff and food were great and regarding pricing in munich this is a perfect stay ! We will be coming back for sure !
Review 38:The hotel is located very far from the center , (taxi fare to citycenter is 35-40 Euro). Breakfast was not included and cost around 20Euro per person. Also the WiFi is an extra charge (why on earth????) –these three extra costs make this hotel not such a good deal. The roomis quite small and unlike most hotel rooms the bed is very close to thebathroom and you can actually see the toilet. This could not be such anissue if the door to the bathroom was not opaque glass door whichreviles the silhouette of the person using the facilities. Also, being asliding door it does not seal the bathroom. Very unpleasant.Housekeeping knocked on our door (09:00 am) and immediately tried to getin, which was extremely unpleasant. The reception stuff were ok butinefficient in the checkout process , they gave less than minimuminformation when asked about car rental option etc. The receptionist askif we had enjoyed our stay and when I answered: "It could bebetter", she had asked no further but she gave us farewellchocolates which was a nice gesture as we are not going to see eachother again.
Review 39:The rate of room is higher, compare to the facility . The staff was unprofessional in arranging the reservation . I requested family booking in my booking. Com with connected room and they issued vice versa two rooms in different floors . One room in first floor and the second in third floor . The attitude of staff was negative except the General Manager who fix the problem next day. The booking show free Wi Fi and car parking but once you check in they will charge you with bad quality of internet speed ( even you pay for this service) Morever the Hotel has large floor plan with many rooms , unfortunately the lobby of elevators is one and you have to do long walking if your room was at the end of corridor. Finally, big construction at neighborhood was existing . Thus after 7 am you can't sleep any more .
Review 40:I like the location.
Review 41:They charge for WiFi. No other hotel where we stayed did that. They charge €21 per person per night for breakfast and won't let you look at the menu at the door b4 you enter. We chose to eat elsewhere. Staff was a little uppity. When we were checking out, some other quest was in a heated discussion over his bill. We were glad to leave.
Review 42:Quiet
Review 43:Great location by the U- Bahn and on the edge of Olympic Park. The hotel is very stylish and comfortable whilst the rates are surprising low for such standards. However what stands out most is the friendliness of the staff, particularly the bar manager and his team, who not only mix an extremely good cocktail but provide a cheering welcome at the end of a busy and tiring day!
Review 44:The staff was a bit distant, the WIFI was not free and the breakfast very expensive (21 EUR per person).
Review 45:Modern and very clean comfortable hotel. Nothing to complain about as you know what you are paying for.
Review 46:- You have to switch off all the light, one by one, for getting the only one you want working.
Review 47:- coffee & tee in the room. - Comfortable beds. - Large shower.
Review 48:Though we asked for a non-smoking room, the room had an obvious odor of cigarette smoke. Though they were willing to swap out our room, we wouldn't have been adjacent to our children. Our room was also missing soap and coffee cups.
Review 49:The location was good. It is a quick 15-20 minute walk to the Olympia Halle, a venue for many concerts. They validated the parking.
Review 50:Didn't like that wifi had to be paid for separately! Drinks and food VERY expensive Bmw meetings when we stayed so we're told by staff that there would be no room for us to have lunch
Review 51:The hotel was beautiful, very corporate but still felt welcome as a young couple travelling. 2 minute walk to tube station.
Review 52:It was extremely disappointing that in a hotel of this quality that you had to pay for wifi
Review 53:It was a very good modern hotel with an airy feel to it with plenty of space
Review 54:Payment with Credit card!!! They did not use the warranty payment made at the check in at the check out payment. I had to wait 14 days to have again availability of this amount on my card, thats unbelievable! The asher on request was under 600 Euro we use to do so!!!!! I have no words!!!!!
Review 55:Welcome, friendly staff, clean, silent, very good breakfast, super position,
Review 56:Only donwsides; expensive WLAN, and a Little Long to check in.
Review 57:Very good Standing Overall. Rooms are clean, Service is excellent, and live Music in the bar.
Review 58:Wifi was extra but service wasn't good as it kept getting DC and system is a bit complicated. Some construction work going on which is not the best view but was expecting a better view. Harsh!
Review 59:Hotel was superb! nice basement car parking specially in this weather. Clean room, comfy bed and good facilities.
Review 60:No free internet- even in the public aereas
Review 61:This was our 2nd visit to this hotel (the first was during the pre openning period in early 2011). Good business hotel- the population is mainly members of companies attanding convensions. Brakfast- superb!!! staff: very helpfull
Review 62:These days it is an affront to fail to provide free wifi - not even in the public areas! The room has a brochure replete with rhetoric about designing the experience to meet individual needs. In asking guests to pay for something most guests need, this does seem mere spin. The toilet/bathroom doors are semi transparent - a real negative if you value privacy.
Review 63:The damn wifi and the internet service provider. It really made me feel that all my connections were being monitored and I preferred not to use the really expensive and cheesy isp.
Review 64:I really liked the big breakfast and food menu! It was more than what I had expected. The bartenders were quite a good bunch and really hospitable.
Review 65:Nothing
Review 66:Stayed here for 3 nights, could not fault anything about the hotel, best breakfast choice I have seen in a hotel. Room was a good size, and very clean. Location was good, walking distance into Olympic park & Olympic shopping centre. Underground for Munich centre 2 minutes away.
Review 67:The hotel is far from the city center. Any activities involved a 20 minute or more commute each way on public transportation. To use the lighting system over the bed one had to unscrew the light bulb over the side if the other person wanted it off. I had wondered why the light didn't work when I first tried to use it then realized why the previous guest had done this. Booked with Booking.com and they spent about 5 minutes trying to find the reservation even after I showed them the confirmation notice on my mobile. They finally had to make a call to the offices to find the booking. They are the kind of place that offers to bill in USD so they can get a little more out of the customer. Do they really have to do that?
Review 68:This is probably a good hotel for someone on an expense account. For instance the breakfast was 3 times the cost of most other hotels I found. There were computers in the business center that were offered free of charge in case you did not want to pay the wifi charge.
Review 69:17 eur. A day for internet which is never connected. 11 euro a day forparking where just across the street is 1 euro a day. Room facilitiesdidn't work. 90% cancelation fee. Even though I asked after 1 hourand because of poor room I think there are better hotels in Munich thanthis and with lower costs
Review 70:Lobby environment
Review 71:The room had two double beds pushed together, rather than a double bed. Perhaps this is a German custom. Personally, I found it uncomfortable. The sheets were cheap and uncomfortable. The cleaner didn't bother to remove the ironing board I borrowed, nor did they remove plates from my colleague's room.
Review 72:Wifi costs EUR 11.90/day per device! Very noisy rooms due to repair works
Review 73:Delicious breakfast Helpful staff Many parks around Not far from Galereya shopping mall
Review 74:-Guest Relations: does not tend to help or create solutions so why is she there! -Two different kind of pillows, one is hard enough but too big to sleep; the other is too soft. And hotel didn't provide us a proper pillow! Uncomfortable sleep! -The ventilator in the toilet is like a helicopter and it stops almost 7-8 minutes later when you turn off the light. Uncomfortable -Room doors are shut so harsh(the door system is like that) and so that you wake up with door noise in the morning! Uncomfortable
Review 75:-Modern design -Close to Metro -Close to Olimpia Park and BMW
Review 76:Next to the hotel they are building something big. That gives noise. Also, it's not possible to sleep with the window open, because of the noise of the train.
Review 77:The whole hotel is very new and looks really nice
Review 78:Staff is not motivated to give good service. Had problems with the members of staff 2 times concerning the payments!
Review 79:Nice and relaxed area. close to the park.
Review 80:Having to pay for wifi considering the cost paid for the room.
Review 81:Friendly and helpful staff. Proximity to the subway was great and trains ran regularly into the city.
Review 82:Lights around the windows make it a little bright at night. No real air circulation makes for a hot night. The pillows suck....but that is European hotels.
Review 83:Fantastic hotel really close to Olympic Park. Very clean area and the hotel feels brand new. Great staff and rooms! Nice bar downstairs and parking on site. Right next to the Ubahn which is awesome.
Review 84:A big problem in Germany is all of the construction taking place. The construction workers seem to start at 7am, and they are loud. Of course, right next to the hotel they are building apartment buildings. Very loud!
Review 85:Most of the staff was excellent. Our breakfast was very expensive but one of the better buffet's I've experienced in Germany. The U3 train was only a short walk away which made things pretty easy to get around. Our room was clean and pretty spacious. We slept well.
Review 86:Great staff, good facilities and a super comfortable bed. They have a really nice restaurant, great bar, good gym and it is easy to get in and out of the central city on the underground/
Review 87:Very poor value for money - breakfast cost 47€ - basic stuff in the room Bathroom door - see through next to the bed - no privacy Smelly room and bathroom - although says reception assured us non smoking - the place stunk of smoke Bed not comfortable - not good double bed. It is singles pushed together!
Review 88:Good bar area - chic / tasteful
Review 89:Large Buses for group close road and hotel entry. Other than that every thing excellent.
Review 90:Hotel atmosphere. Ineradicable lobby. very clean rooms. I will come back to this hotel if I am in Munich. Very Close to Olympic garden.
Review 91:No free wifi anywhere at the hotel. It is possible to pay loads of money to get - but this is 2014 and we expect free wifi - at least in the lobby area.
Review 92:-unfriendly non Service orientated Staff -Parking to unload Car even costs Money -Wifi not included -Ventilator in Bathroom never cleaned -Room not cleaned on the Saturday despite Sign on Door Handle -not even 2 Hours Late Check out possible
Review 93:nothing
Review 94:I booked double bed room but when i checked in I descover all the rooms are twin beds and I have to upgrade my room to get it The beds are not comfortable The housekeeping are not cleaning the room as accepted.
Review 95:It is good hotel with nice location. The underground is close to the hotel Also, the breakfast buffet was delecious and alot of vairty
Review 96:The pelow was bad ask for change it No concerge staff to help u with ur loggege So be ready
Review 97:Hotel very good good location front of olympic park very modern clean nice staff
Review 98:I have been rapped by this hotel ! Upon my check in the manager on duty Mr. Fabian one of most negative persons i met in my life refused to give me the room which I booked and paid on prepaid basis 1.5 months ago claiming that this is a stand red room for 2 persons and we have 2 kids 1 & 5 yes old so this makes 4 persons !! While this room is maximum for 2 so we need either 2 rooms or suit room with 500 Euros extra, while the policy of hotel for children says one child under 12 stays free of charge in existing bed and one child under 2 stays free of charge in baby cot !!! And top of it during booking process I wrote in comments that I have 2 kids, to cut it short I had a 2 hours discussion with this rude people until I ended up with either leaving the hotel with loss of 1375 euro total prepaid deal for 10 nights or paying extra 300 euros for the upgrade ! Simply i understand the hotel found me a good chance to sell me the suit and use my room to other guests !! I totally don't recommend this hotel at all for anyone.
Review 99:shower leaked, construction noise
Review 100:Breakfast was very good, room was clean and spacious, staff was great, Dog friendly, nice bar & restaurant in the evenings
Review 101:1. Wi Fi connection is complicated. I have faced problems in connecting during my 3-4 days stay!! 2. Hotel policy of paying Euro 11.95/ for one day connection is complicated in this 20 century!! Instead, it would've been better to add this amount to the total price of the room and provide FREE WI FI. This would prevent problems in connecting!!
Review 102:1. Quite & strategic location ... 2. Nice design layout & sample interior. 3. Good breakfast choices.
Review 103:VERY PRICY INTERNET PARKING FOR FEE LOTS OF WHEEL CHAIR PEOPLE WERE CROWDING THE OUTSIDE ENTRANCE AND SMOKING NON STOP.. IT WAS REALLY ANNYOING, AND NO BODY WAS ASKING THEM TO MOVE A WAY.
Review 104:Practicality Summarize it..! you land, you want air-conditioned room, a good breakfast, and a base for two nights, till you figure out where to go or what to do.. Then go for it.. Train station is 3 min walk.. Olympia park , BMW two stops
Review 105:high fees for wlan (there was a business corner though with free internet access), high additional charge for breakfast.
Review 106:very comfortable and stylish rooms, very calm during the night despite the hotels central location, very friendly staff!
Review 107:Generally poorly designed rooms, there seems to a lack of knowhow as to how to make guests comfortable, or a great deal of tolerance on the part of the local guests, for expensive and inadequate facilities. This hotel has good staff but they are poorly trained. One star too many…as usual in Europe.
Review 108:A/C, reasonably modern facility..alth’o some training by Marriott would make a big improvement. This hotel is a business hotel with good parking facilities, reasonable walking distance to the S Bahn.
Review 109:the location was terrible. To far from anything including restaurants. Wifi was an extra charge.
Review 110:food was ok rooms were nice
Review 111:Paying 17,00€ for a WiFi is very bad
Review 112:Breakfast
Review 113:To pay for a WiFi is today insane
Review 114:Gym is not a gym. It's a small room with some equipment in it. Not worth it! No free WiFi is not acceptable.
Review 115:Rooms are nice. Nice shower.
Review 116:Kindness and modernity.
Review 117:All perfect
Review 118:Good music and very nice bar Very good breakfast
Review 119:Excellent staff
Review 120:Housekeeping forgot to replenish bath gel and shampoo one time.
Review 121:Front desk hospitality, very friendly! Dank schoen!
Review 122:Expensive WiFi, didn't replenish toiletries,
Review 123:Location to metro
Review 124:I am not happy that no any internet is in the room and I have to pay for wifi even with very low-speed wifi surfing experience and expensive rate.
Review 125:Everything!
Review 126:Reception desk
Review 127:Very nice room and good suitable comfortabel bed
Review 128:Bathroom
Review 129:Friendliness & helpfulness of stagf
Review 130:Bar odprt do 02h!
Review 131:wifi not free
