Reviews for Plantation Island Resort

Review 1:The wifi deal is very expensive, $100 for 7 days and not allow for multiple devices. Better if to get a dats SIM from Vodafone at the airport. The meal deal is not value the money too.

Review 2:The size of the room is good. The beach is great!!!

Review 3:Poorly organised bookings and communication from the hotel side (slow and confusing), tired and boring menu. The best menu was the copra shed lunch a la carte but it is not available at other times.

Review 4:Wonderful Staff (especially Sue!), beautiful location, good value accommodation for money.

Review 5:Communication with staff was a bit hard but no different than the rest of Fiji where there is a real disconnect at times. Found it hard to get anything across that was out of the ordinary

Review 6:Great location and no compulsory meal plan, nice rooms, great snorkelling and swimming

Review 7:Confusing check in process. Rooms were over $300 a night, but were pretty basic. Shower just had water dripping out and a toaster would have been a great addition to the room. Room windows and shutters were worn with tears, so we were bitten by mosquitoes while we slept. Main door to room was a large slider, that had no handle to open it. Staff seemed a bit over it all. A few still managed a cheerful "Bula" when you walked past them, but many seemed to be tired of the tourists.

Review 8:The island was great, lovely clear water, great pools and lots of activities for the kids. Would be great for families with kids aged 10 and above (our were 6, 4 and 18 months). Nice bed to sleep in.

Review 9:the resort was very run down and messy. It took our friends 2 hours to get to their room from the time they arrived on the boat. We were booked for two nights but left after one night.

Review 10:Amazing location, beautiful white sandy beaches, fab pools and the food was great. Everything set up for an easy stay with young children, had a great time.

Review 11:The room we had was rather tired and the air conditioner dripped onto the bed. When I mentioned this they tried to repair it and when that didn't work we were given another room without any problem. They were very understanding.

Review 12:The welcome was very warm and friendly. Check in was done in Denarau prior to boarding the cat to the island making the arrival and finding our room so easy. The facilities were great and enjoyed by the guests.

Review 13:I been there 4 times and didn't really feel appreciated for my loyalty. We booked fishing sports fishing boat trip , I've never felt so scared in all my life , I fact I'm still debating taking it further , it was on 18th may !! They will know !!!!

Review 14:Anandas was great . Evening shows all great .

Review 15:The lack of info about the resort activities, food, restaurants etc. if you don't find out for yourself you wont know whats going on. fairly unapproachable reception staff. Husband told he would be able to go out and catch mahi mahi but when got on boat they had no intention of going out deep. Still they caught a GT giant trevally. Meal plans are dear take cup a noodles.

Review 16:Snorkelling, pool, frog race, hair braid, massage, kids activities, musket cove supermarket better, poolside room, location. Anandas restaurant good, beer at supermarket pretty cheap, barman good.

Review 17:The buffet food is not good but not really exciting. Use the other restaurants instead.

Review 18:The beaches and sea are really beautiful. Staff is friendly and service minded. It is easy to go there, just use the Manolo Cat Ferry. They even arrange pick-up/drop off's to/at the hotel. Bura's are spacious and clean.

Review 19:The pillows - too small and lumpy even though given 4 pillows for the bed.

Review 20:The beauty of the location, the welcome and farewell, the snorkelling, the kayaking, the coffee and iced coffees at the cocoshack, the staff, our room upgrades from a hotel room to a bure, the entertainment, the pools, did I mention being able to snorkel from the beach and see great coral and fish, the whole Plantation Island experience. Great place for children, would love to take grandchildren there one day.

Review 21:Would be a good idea to check the pool after 10pm,as there were a few nights when young ones were in there and making quite a lot of noise

Review 22:The staff were so helpful, and friendly, the new swimming pool( oasis) was terrific ,and the food was very good ,everything was great, thank you all.

Review 23:From the minute we arrived the Fijian staff were so helpful and friendly. We were upgraded to a Bure at no extra cost due to renovations on the hotel building which didn't look too flash, but was the closest accommodation to all amenities. The pool rooms are good if you plan on swimming a lot. Island lifestyle is a very slow and relaxed way of life. The meals at both restaurant were not high class, but still good value for $$. The buffet breakfast at the restaurant and burgers at the snack bar are the best! After reading bad reviews on Plantation Island, we are glad we still went. We were NOT disappointed! The snorkeling and kayaks are free to use, compared to the resort on the mainland ($50 per day.) February is off peak season, so it is very quiet in Fiji and you can do anything - anytime. We did take a trip to cloud 9 which we thought wasn't really worth the $ paid. I suggest you only go on a really fine day, and the current is not strong so you can swim way out. The dolphin trip was great! We owe a special thanks to our bar staff Tooks and Richard who made our time on Plantation Island very memorable. They were lots of fun "Vinaka boys." Fijian people are the best!! I don't know how anyone could go to Fiji and not enjoy it:) Everyone's expectation of a holiday is always different, but if you are looking for a relaxed vacation Plantation Island is all about R and R. No T.V's in room "Fiji Time." We really want to take our children next time. There are different activities daily, and free entertainment most nights. The band that played while we were there was one of the best bands in Fiji. They were amazing!! We really can't fault the Island at all - and we will definitely be back with our children soon.

Review 24:Accomm (garden studio) Fridge had to be replaced Air con couldn't be adjusted Staff/service was average at best, indifferent at worst. Big dining room eating situation felt very boat cruise (we chose to eat at Ananda's on periphery of resort (which wasn't great, but at least wasn't teeming with people), as well as at the restaurant at neighbouring Musket Cove - stunning breakfast on New Years Day 2015)

Review 25:Location Watersports gear part of the deal (paddleboard, kayak, snorkels, etc) The snorkelling adventure was outstanding (lots of fish, beautiful coral and crystal clear water)

Review 26:The room was clean but smelled musty. The guys from surf boat need to improve their service, always late.

Review 27:the location, the island, the staff, the food and the entertainment.

Review 28:there was constant construction noise - power tools and heavy vehicles on beach with the construction of new cocohut and preparing for a festival. Digger building new mariner/wharf off plantation was another constant noise. The adults pool was shut too. We were not told of these things before our stay, which is really disappointing. There was no compensation offered. The room facilities are very very old and run-down.

Review 29:kids swimming pool with toddler pool is great and slide for the bigger kids. Great swimming off the beach. Lovely friendly staff and babysitters. Great resort for kids.

Review 30:Very noisy around swimming pool Very basic accommodation Resort looking very run-down and in need of a facelift Very loud music near the bar

Review 31:Spacious accommodation, with a nice outside area to sit in

Review 32:Had a great time at plantation island. The Fijians went above and beyond to help in anyway. Poolside room was great and spacious. Good options when dining. Great activities. My suggestion is cloud 9 was amazing. Parasailing was a fun experience. But only thing is not really for single people totally a family or couples resort but didn't matter still had a great time.

Review 33:Only 1 restaurant "kid free"

Review 34:Wasn't keen on the idea of a resort, but once we were there I fell in love with it. So friendly peaceful and always something to do.

Review 35:Value for money of the rooms was poor - would expect luxury for what wepaid, which was double what we have ever paid for accomodation in nz orAustralia. We were stunned by how expensive it was.

Review 36:Gorgeous water and full range of water sports; location was great

Review 37:The room was disgusting and for this reason only I will not return. It really let the resort down. Was very smelly and old. Bugs on the floor. We didn't know where to eat and only found by chance the big buffet breakfast area.

Review 38:Location amazing and I like how the kayaks were free to use. Most of the staff very friendly and lovely just some shop staff were very quiet and hardly said anything to you. I loved the hammocks. Coffee bar also very good.

Review 39:everything. all the staff are friendly and will go out of there way to help. they make it feel like we were home

Review 40:Food in the restaurant was a bit disappointing

Review 41:facilities and beach with good snorkeling just in front

Review 42:The paintings in room 425 are a disgrace - they are so depressing. Please get rid of them.

Review 43:Friendly staff and beautiful location and good food.

Review 44:I liked everything

Review 45:Everything

Review 46:Food very ordinary and expensive. Rooms very overpriced. Ripping us Aussies off ! !

Review 47:Setting exquisite ! Had a fabulous time.

Review 48:staff werent the friendliest and a lot of facilities were run down or broken

Review 49:location

Review 50:The beds were not the most comfortable. But the Bure was lovely.

Review 51:Lots to do for the kids. Food and coffee was great.

Review 52:Buffet meals

Review 53:venue and staff

Review 54:No TV in room Paid WiFi Kids Club was a little "too" relaxed.

Review 55:Staff were great. Lots of room and things to do. Spread out nicely.

Review 56:Breakfast was not included

Review 57:Beautiful ans unique location

Review 58:Just a little dark around the huts

Review 59:Great help from staff and the upgrade was much appreicated

Review 60:Meals were expensive

Review 61:Staff and location

Review 62:Food was average.

Review 63:Great for families with children. Ideal age 4-10.

Review 64:Food is poor and too expensive.

Review 65:5 star view and nice staffs

Review 66:cold showers and dreadful water pressure. No information pack in our room. Hard to find out what you provided.

Review 67:Being upgraded to a bure.

Review 68:Outdated facilities & rooms

Review 69:Fantastic location

Review 70:The food is always average.

Review 71:Location is great and staff are friendly.

Review 72:Location, staff, food, rooms

Review 73:Room was old n smelly so i changed my room food wasnt good very expensive wasnt worth it.

Review 74:Nourriture moyenne Family oriented, not easy for a single guy

Review 75:PADI instructor and services

Review 76:The resort and island are wonderful

Review 77:Fantastic family holiday destination.

Review 78:needs a bit of updating paying for internet

Review 79:Water sport facilities friendly staff outlook

Review 80:Buffet breakfast (avoid!) Staff were completely unhelpful with the simplest of requests

Review 81:Nice food in restaurants Chilled relaxed place

Review 82:Staff rude. Resort is geared to families who like a camping ground feel. Very basic accommodation and facilities.

Review 83:Location. Golf course

Review 84:poor accommodation and terrible food

Review 85:The resort looks a bit tired- whilst the rooms are being upgraded and was amazing! The actual resort buildings definitely need maintainence ir renovating! The Anandas restaurant was disappointing. As this was our only other kid friendly option was expecting a much better menu and service. Slow service, disgruntled staff not happy that you didn't make a booking( even though it was outside of hight season and certainly not busy at all. very average food that didn't match description in menu for my order ( pan seared does not usually mean crumbed ).it is supposed to serve seafood but it was not all fresh. Crab sticks instead of crab meat! But the guitarist was a hilarious distraction!

Review 86:Loved the location. Everything on our doorstep! Kids activities galore and surfing for my husband within easy access. Variety of food was good for buffet meals. Excellent staff and newly refurbished bures. A must do is to hire a boat and go out tomthebislands for snorkelling and a drink at cloud 9, a reef bar out in the middle of no where, where the view is amazing, water so clear and blue and kid friendly so they can swim and jump off the piers!

Review 87:The food was poor quality Same a la carte menu for lunch every day. And just few choices. Submersive boat ride is not comfortable at all. It's very stuffy with no A/C inside. Boat transfer to the resort is a total ripoff (F$ 140/pp)

Review 88:The beaches

Review 89:Value for money poor. Organisation in restaurant and food options poor, family sick on return to NZ. Room prices much too expensive compared to alternative destinations, and rather 'tired'.

Review 90:Location and leasure facilities provided.

Review 91:No tv, wifi price lack of choice for nightlife.. For peaceful holiday is a great place

Review 92:Staff were great... Rooms big and comfortable.. Good ameneties.. Great price would stay again

Review 93:Dinner at the restaurants seemed a bit disorganised. We were a large group of 20ish and there were always missing meals.

Review 94:The staff were so wonderfully friendly, especially the chefs at Ananda's Restaurant who let us bake cupcakes in their kitchen for our friends wedding.

Review 95:Heed all warning signs for this one travelers. All factors you readabout the negatives are very true. My girlfriend did get sick after onemeal at Plantation Resort, the staff forgot about us at dinner after wealready paid for it, the staff was apologetic yet never remedied any ofour issues. Staff & attention was absolutely horrible. It is a"do it yourself" resort and that's even allowing for Fijitime which is just part of the culture. I got pictures of"cleanliness" of our room at Plantation....keep low standardsand you'll be alright.

Review 96:Malolo Lainai was a fantastic location to do other island tours, adventures, & for just flat out lounging in paradise. Plantation waswhere we stayed & Lomani was where we went for all other meals aftereating at Plantation once. LOMANI's food, service, environment wasall perfect! They made our stay there well worth it. So cheap room atPlantaion, good food & service at Lomani. The other locations to eatwere not an option for us as all other places were under construction& had empty resorts.

Review 97:Even though my room which had ocean view was clean and comfortable, yet it needs upgrading

Review 98:The friendliness of the staff, the grounds, the water/snorkeling

Review 99:Rooms stated as air conditioned, but ac was far too small for room and did not cool it at all during the day so the rooms were too hot to relax in. We left 4 days early for this reason as my wife is pregnant and was far too uncomfortable. We were still charged the $800 accommodation cost even though it was too hot and medically not advisable for my wife to stay there any longer.

Review 100:The beach.

Review 101:Resort has totally been let go and is lacking attention to grounds and amenities. Seems lack of staff for gardens etc. Grass growing through pool decking and in garden beds around what use tobe an amazing pool complex. Lack of working beach chairs, most broken. Staff seemed under pressure and have lost their friendly island hospitality of what Fiji is alway reknown for, such a shame.

Review 102:Weather was amazing for us thank goodness as the resort was a little dissappointing to say the least. Golf course was in fantastic condition and most enjoyable to play. Food at Ananda's was top notch.

Review 103:The room is quite damp and the bed linen is not very clean. The facilities are dated.

Review 104:There are lots of to do, like water sports, tennis, golf...... The scenery of the island is fantastic! The beach is amazingly beautiful !

Review 105:On the night of 23rd October, we suffered from a major food poisoningeating from their lunch and dinner buffet. We suffered from severedihareea and vomiting, nausea, 2 people at the same time which clearlyindicates very poor hygiene in preparing food. Management is covering itup claiming that this is not coming from their food, and that no otherpeople suffered from these at the same time with us. The lame pr guycalled Ravin and the manager himself were incredibly rude to us, Ravinlaughing to our faces saying that he needs to test us to see if indeedwe are ill! How dares he. They then offered us to move to sister hotels, every hour their story would change...The medical nurse does admit that almost every day they are having people feel sick with diarrhea and vomiting. This cannot be right, hygiene and food handling at this resort is not proper. On top of this, they were threatening to charge us money for the rest of our stay, as we wanted to leave the place, since we could not trust the food, and the options on this small island are limited. In the end we left and moved to the Sheraton on Denarau island, to be on the safe side. Worst experience with a hotel ever, in our 7 month round the world trip!!

Review 106:Resort needs a tidy up. Lack of deckchairs around the pools. Separate food choice for children was awful. Lack of smiles from some staff as well as carrying on their Fijian conversations before finally serving you. Lack of bar staff.

Review 107:Beautiful clear water for snorkling. Room good size and clean.

Review 108:We ordered three rooms two were side by side the other on the far side of the swimming pool. Told them three weeks before a birthday cake for a 21st was required Staff got email but forgot to arrange cake, All details we saw on line allowed for a meal plan. when we got there we were told that was only for families with young children.

Review 109:Some staff are really nice and made us feel welcome. the setting for the holiday is great

Review 110:The food was pretty basic in the buffet area and I thought it was catered for very bland tastes. The curry night was the best.

Review 111:The surroundings were lovely, we had a bure on the beach front no. 221. The bure itself was nice, very spacious and clean. It could sleep 4 if necessary. The pools were nice and the beach was beautiful. We got a discount as we stayed four nights, I was really happy about that.

Review 112:There was a lot of kids which is fine but some parents did not manage their children and did employ on other guests holidays.

Review 113:Really like how staff are friendly and don't has sell you.

Review 114:the construction site in the middle of the resort....higher prices than previously....terrible food...

Review 115:the staff..................location away from thew resort

Review 116:The setting is wonderful, good swimming even at low tide. Staff are very friendly and there is plenty to do as there are 2 other resorts on the island.

Review 117:The cost. Food was super expensive and the range was limited. Would have preferred to stay in the Yasawas for longer as our stay turned out to be costly.

Review 118:Nice location and nice rooms. Had a huge amount of activities.

Review 119:Option to have tv in rooms would be good. Buffett extremely overpriced for quality of food, especially lunch. Pools in poor condition and uncomfortable to layze around in.

Review 120:Location was excellent. Water sports/activities were great.

Review 121:The buffets weren't great, quality of food needs improving. Guestservice book in the room was missing, we had to find out what we coulddo, book and hire ourselves which would have been easier with a guestservice book.

Review 122:The location is really good, easily accessible from the mainland bymalolo cat and just stunning! We did the village tour which I wouldrecommend. As a young couple with no children (yet) it was nice to getaway from the sometimes hectic buffet to the lovely Lomani restaurantnext door (owned by the same owner). It's the perfect resort forfamilies, but we enjoyed the resort as well due to it being low season. Our bure was amazing and serviced everyday!

Review 123:Not enough furniture around pool

Review 124:kids facilities activities

Review 125:Difficult finding vegetarian meals that had any value for money, $50 for deep fried lettuce was not what I had in mind

Review 126:A bit old and rooms no tv.

Review 127:Great views beach and people

Review 128:snorkeling off beach

Review 129:services and food

Review 130:the facilities are clean and beach is good for little kids

Review 131:Lack of communication for guests. Small adult:child ratio for kids club.

Review 132:Relaxed atmosphere. Child friendly. Friendly staff.

Review 133:The resort is in need of maintainance

Review 134:The food has improved significantly to what I remember from years ago.

Review 135:Food quality could be a bit better, maybe a bit more variety at dinner

Review 136:Not too fancy, easy for children
