Reviews for Hotel Goldene Rose
Review 1:We liked everything about this grand old house!
Review 2:Bernie and his staff were awesome! Very friendly and helpful. He gave us the history of the gasthof - it's 560 years old and incredible. We really enjoyed our stay and the location was outstanding.
Review 3:The staff were welcoming and willing to help us figure out what sights to see. There is a lot of interesting history in the town and hotel itself. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a typical German style breakfast and was very good.
Review 4:Helpful staff. 6 o'clock AM church bell rang louder and longer than i expected but it was also ok for me cause it remineded me i was in one of the most beautiful city in Europe.
Review 5:We were in an annex with a walk to hotel for meals and flights of stairs with no lift. We had explained when booking we had 2 very disabled people in group. Wheelchair could not be taken up the stairs. One person was double amputee of his legs
Review 6:Set on the market square
Review 7:The staff didn't give us the Wifi username and the password. I was sure if I asked he would give us but it was late at night already. It would be better if the Wifi username and password was placed somewhere in the room or handed it to us once we checked in.
Review 8:Located in the middle of the old town. Couldn't just stay in a bed but had to walk around the town.
Review 9:There is NO WIFI/airco in the rooms. The room was around 25° at night time. This as well in other rooms people told us. We only sleep around 2 hous!!!!!!!! It is a never come back hotel. All other staff was friendly. One of the owners is very nice but the other (brother) one fare from nice and/or smart.
Review 10:The staff here were so friendly. They are fluent in German and English and were very kind to speak with my brother in German and then repeat for me in English, so I didn't feel left out. They found a fan for my fiance when he was feeling ill and made sure he was comfortable in the heat wave. The breakfast is also delicious and the decor is so beautiful. Perfect match with the beautiful little town.
Review 11:*The room is very hot, i recommend an A/C in the summer season...although they had a small fan it was a bit helpful * the extra bed (sofa bed) wasent comfortable
Review 12:*Location is perfect *Breakfast was awesome *the design is very nice (medieval touch) i loved it *the staff were very nice and very helpful
Review 13:The bells!! From 6.00 am don't expect any sleep as the church bells opposite start the day with a 5 minute wake-up call! Nothing to complain about really
Review 14:Location right on town square. Olde-worlde type hotel. Wonky main staircase added atmosphere. Very helpful chef who arranged covered parking for our motorbike Excellent food. We ate there both nights Not cheap but location will add Lovely town to stay in.
Review 15:I liked hearing the church bells ring in the morning, and see the cathedral from the breakfast room window. The owners speak excellent English and are very kind and helpful. If you expect a Westin with an elevator, don't stay in Dinkelsbühl; this place was built before Columbus discovered The New World. It was Old World unique and delightful.
Review 16:Everything was wonderful
Review 17:The hosts were wonderful. The breakfasts delicious. loved the location and will return to this spot. The hotel includes the charm of it's age - it was built in 1475.
Review 18:Nothing to dislike.
Review 19:I liked it all. The knowledgeable, helpful, courteous staff. amenities, cleanliness, location, and especially the food both at breakfast and public restaurant. Most of all we appreciated the retention of the 'old' character of the hotel. We shall return.
Review 20:Nothing!
Review 21:Located in the center of the most beautiful town in Germany. This historic hotel has been family managed for years, is well maintained, offers excellent facilities (especially for a 500+ year old hotel), and has an outstanding restaurant. I have stayed at this hotel since 1986 and will always return.
Review 22:nothing
Review 23:Super location with parking and great service. We will stay here again in the summer. I have read a couple of reviews that were not good but i can tell you they are crazy! This is a must stay hotel!
Review 24:If you are touring the Romantic Road, this little town is well worth the stop-over. Located beside the historical church, the hotel is literally part of the history of the romantic road. A restaurant down stairs serves great German food and the car park at the rear is great for those travelling the Romantic Road.
Review 25:T-I-G-H-T entrance to free parking. By the look of the gateway, many a car has been damaged on the way in. (And why make the situation even worse by allowing street parking in the narrow alleyway that leads in?)
Review 26:Right in the center of town. Friendly staff. The room was old, quirky, fun, and one of a kind. What an adventure. Nice breakfast, too.
Review 27:Parking was a difficult maneuver in cramped space. this was perhaps inevitable, given the space limitations of a building built in the fifteenth century and operated in the 21st.
Review 28:The entire ambience so carefully maintained. The manager and staff were very helpful and cordial. Food and service very good.
Review 29:The church bells at nearby St. George rang over 200 times at 6 A.M. Not the way we hoped to start the day. Lettering on hotel facade looks like calligraphy, so we passed building twice till we deciphered it. It does, however, add a nice touch
Review 30:In heart of medieval Dinkelsbuhl. Hotel restaurant was quite good. Ample parking in nearby hotel- controlled lots. Has an ambience that harkens back to small town Germany of centuries past. Just a delightful place to stay.
Review 31:There's no curtain for the room I stayed in, the entry of bathroom is lower than average and dangerous for adult male guest.
Review 32:Restaurant, location, decoration style, old world charming
Review 33:Water in the bathroom only a slow trickle at best. The hot water takes ages to come through - but it does arrive! No proper shower..!
Review 34:The location & our room overlooking the Marktplatz. Comfortable room and good size bathroom. The staff were all excellent and the restaurant menu offered some treats really well carried out by chef/kitchen. Convenient hotel parking (at a charge). Excellent breakfast & coffee.
Review 35:We thought we'd like being on the square and didn't know there was a separate building, which is where we were, on the side street. The beautiful Catholic church is across the street...the time bells, VERY LOUD, rang all night..we had poor sleep. NO FREE parking..and it's not easy to find parking. A bit noisy with people talking outside on the sidewalk, where there was a restaurant. No lift,of course...building old and we "felt" the oldness in many aspects. Wouldn't stay again because of the bells...
Review 36:We were gratefully upgrated free to a larger room/bathroom. The breakfast was GREAT and the staff very nice. The building is from the 1400's..Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 37:The old world charm and history of the building, Staff welcoming. Facilities were good considering the age of the building. A lot of steps, but this comes with the age. wonderful stay in this village, our favourate so far, Village had a good mix of everything.
Review 38:noit the hotels problem but at 6:00 the churchbells rsang to wake up even dead people for several minutes
Review 39:location and suggestions by staff what to see and do, good internet connection
Review 40:There is nothing to dislike.
Review 41:This hotel is in a beautiful old building right in the heart of the old town, on the edge of the Town Square. The manager was very welcoming, and even allowed us to store our motorcycles in his personal garage on the site. The interior of the building is elegant, with appropriate furniture throughout. This is the most perfect hotel. Thank you!
Review 42:No elevator for a fourth floor room--not surprising for an old structure, but should be pointed out for benefit of older guests. We were too old for the "hostel approach." Thank goodness for a strong grandson and helpful owners! The hotel's amenities listing overall needs attention. Limited unreserved parking for free turned out to be 5 euro per night and our economy room double supposedly came with no breakfast, but we learned to our pleasant surprise that breakfast came with all the hotel's rooms.
Review 43:Staff assistance was superb. Location could not have been better. Restaurant food and service quite good. WiFi charges were reasonable for length of use. For a structure of such age, bathroom fixtures were surprisingly modern.
Review 44:The lovely central setting in this historic town. The hospitality and efficiency on the staff. The homely comfort of the whole hotel
Review 45:Parking available behind the building!
Review 46:church bells at 6.00am.
Review 47:fab location very relaxing.
Review 48:Fabulous location Friendly staff Very good food Beautiful, historic and charming building
Review 49:Complacent staff, very poor food in restaurant. this hotel has great location and thus does not feel need to make an effort.
Review 50:Beautiful traditional hotel. Lovely restaurant.
Review 51:Very friendly staff, charming place, and a good breakfast. Elegant hotel with a great history.
Review 52:Great location right in the centre of the old town.
Review 53:Nothing
Review 54:The position was amazing. The hotel had a lot of character. Great stay.
Review 55:Nothing.
Review 56:Position on market square, very quirky decor great German food in restaurant.
Review 57:small doorways
Review 58:location staff and historic context
Review 59:Right in the middle of the beautiful Dinkelsbuhl this is a very old, quaint, historic hotel ideal for basing yourself for touring the area.
Review 60:No shampoo or soap. I would imagine that is even more basic than Wi-Fi connection
Review 61:Free Wi-Fi, breakfast is included. Very friendly staff
Review 62:Location. Martin, son of owner. Very welcoming! Restaurant
Review 63:Had to pay for parking. Wouldn't have minded if I had known this and the price before I booked.
Review 64:Good hotel great location. Breakfast was good.
Review 65:Small room, no wi-fi, church bells rang at 6 am.
Review 66:God location, nice village
Review 67:Beautiful location.
Review 68:only one hour free wifi food in the restaurant not very good
Review 69:Great location, cozy room, old stylish house, traditional decoration the owner as well as the staff of the restaurant were very friendly
Review 70:No wireless internet in the room, just in the lobby.
Review 71:A lovely hotel in the countryside right in the old town of Dinkelsbuhl. Excellent location. I got my room 3 hours before the check in time! The room itself was very cozy and romantic with a wonderful bed. The staff were so helpful and spoke excellent English!
Review 72:When I was ill, staff would not allow me to have soup in my room rather than in the dining room -- quite a surprise, given the overall service. Delicious soup, by the way.
Review 73:Loved the location & history. Appreciated easy parking. Fine food. Doorways a challenge for my tall husband, but also part of the charm.
Review 74:having to carry luggage up 3 flights of stairs.no WiFi in our room.not a luxury nowdays but a service that should be provided.
Review 75:proximity to the old town and walking to town attractions.Off road parking.
Review 76:This hotel, despite its location, needed a face lift. We stayed onenight. It was adequate but less than what we had come to expect insimilar locations at a similar price.
Review 77:The only thing that we did not like about the hotel was that thesubstantial breakfast, particularly the cold meats and cheese, were notcovered up during our time in the breakfast room..
Review 78:A really nice hotel with lots of old features located centrally in themarket place in the old town of Dinkulsbuhl. The staff were lovely. Themanager was very helpful and we were upgraded to a superior front roomoverlooking the square and opposite the church. Breakfast was very good,as was the evening meal. Parking at the rear of the hotel which cost 4euro was very helpful as parking is difficult in the town.. All in all areally good choice of hotel and has to be one of the best in the town.We would return if travelling the romantic road again..
Review 79:Lovely hotel with great history. The gentleman who checked us in said it was built as a hotel in 1450. Older than our country for goodness sake! And to top it off, Queen Victoria stayed in our room. How cool is that! We loved that it was right on the main square, again surrounded by lovely building and a beautiful church across the street. We are very heavy sleepers so the church bells did not bother us, but might bother some travelers. Had a cute little patio out back. We ate in the restaurant there and the food was very good and good service. We chose to park outside the town gate and walk the few blocks in. Very interesting town too. (and not as crowded as Rothenburg). Thanks for the lovely stay.
Review 80:Excellent central location. Some garage parking available for motorcycles, and limited private car parking. Plenty of quirky historical character.
Review 81:Sloped beds
Review 82:To stay in a typical german house
Review 83:Very old dark carpts-looks dirty. crowded room
Review 84:Excellent Location in the centre of the old city. Very good breakfast- fresh fruit a veg. are missing
Review 85:Low door frame into room. Head bumps!
Review 86:Great location, in the middle of the village.
Review 87:Uneven floors & tiny bathroom
Review 88:Location & very historic building

Review 91:NIce staff, beautiful little city, quiet place
Review 92:Narrow entrance to car park.
Review 93:Friendly owners and very helpful. Their restaurant and Spargel menu was siperb.
Review 94:Poor bathroom; a little overpriced overall.
