Reviews for Dinkelsbühler Kunst-Stuben

Review 1:The owners are two wonderful people who also operate the art studio below the hotel rooms. Very friendly and affable people who are a delight to talk with. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed, for a very affordable rate. The home-made breakfast may not be the largest one but everything was freshly made and tasted great. The town of Dinkelbühl is a hidden gem along the romantic road. Far less tourist-focused than Rothenburg, it had a great small-town german feel to go along with its historical walls and architecture. The Weinachtsmarkt we visited felt less tourist-focused and more like a small-town gathering focused on great German foods, beer and glühwein. The hotel is wonderfully located right in the walls of the old town and makes a great staging point for exploring the Romantic Road. Highly recommended.

Review 2:nothing !!

Review 3:beautiful hotel, we stayed in the Family Suite, had a wonderful breakfast and wonderful conversation with the artist and has lovely wife. Would come back soon to stay again :)

Review 4:The family room was wonderful! It was clean, beautifully-decorated and spacious with a king-sized bed in the main room with two smaller adjoining rooms each with a twin bed. Very comfortable! And the location was just next to one of the main tower entrances to the city. Would definitely choose this one again!

Review 5:Charming friendly and healpful hosts, amaising and cosy hotel in the medeival house with the high level facilities in it. The excellent breakfast in the incredible interior. The town of Dinkelsbuhl impressed us with its half timbered brightly colored houses and quiet atmosphere which inspires local artists, musicians and craftsmen with their chef-d'oeuvres as well as the visiters of this fascinating medeival town to enjoy it.

Review 6:Parking lot tends to fill up quickly, especially during weekends.

Review 7:Perfect location, comfortable room, good insulation from outside and other rooms. Adorable hosts. Very nice breakfast and breakfast room.

Review 8:Beautiful hotel. Family room was perfect for families: one large room with two smaller bedrooms for the kids. Breakfast was great. Would highly recommend.

Review 9:The front door was really complicated to get unlocked late at night

Review 10:Wonderful! It was a perfect spot in the small town of Dinklesbuhl (hard to find a place in town that's a bad spot), and the owner was really a wonderful woman. Connecting with her and her husband was the highlight.

Review 11:I kept hitting my head on the light fixture over the bed, and I'm not particularly tall.

Review 12:The location was very good, and we had free parking right outside. The best part of the location was its proximity to an excellent Italian restaurant -- right next door.

Review 13:nothing.....everything is perfect.....

Review 14:great location easy to parking easy to find somewhere to easy even you got there late long history house with very interesting, unique decoration and very beautiful furniture down stairs is a gallery with traditional printing art and very very very cute, beautiful dinning room. great taste breakfast very helpful friendly house owner great value for money

Review 15:We should stay one more day to explore this lovely town.

Review 16:Everything! beautiful and clean room, good speed WIFI, excellent breakfast, quiet yet good location in the old town.

Review 17:Parking is not the easiest - we had to be careful not to overstay our parking permit that expired at 10:00.

Review 18:Great location right by one of the town gates, very friendly helpful couple running things, nice room, good breakfast.

Review 19:Nothing.

Review 20:Dinkelsbuhl is the German version of Bruges but better. The hotel is quintessential old Germany in the centre of the town, with the bonus of our charming and ever-helpful hosts, artists Arthur and Hildegard Appelberg. We had a wonderful traditional painted four-poster bed in our large, well-equipped, quiet room for our six-night stay. The breakfasts are fresh and ample. We shall be back.

Review 21:Friendly, helpful owners. He is an artist and his artwork is all through the hotel. We had a lovely room with a four poster bed that looked out onto the charming village. Breakfast was very good, and in the oldest part of the building. Only stayed one night, wish it could have been longer! Happily, and unbeknownst to us, the town's history festival was held while we were there. Memories of a lifetime!

Review 22:Our favorite hotel of the trip. Gracious host; quaint, beautiful, comfortable room; the most beautiful breakfast room with gorgeous tableware. Excellent location. We loved Dinkelsbuhl and this hotel.

Review 23:This was the 5th hotel/guesthouse we stayed in on our holiday through Belgium and Germany but I have to say I found our room very disappointing, especially after reading other reviews about 4 posters and painted furniture. We had the first room in front of you as you come up the stairs (room 2 I think). It was very small and cramped and very, very tired. It really needed a lick of paint, even the furniture would have benefited from a sanding down & painting. The room on the whole was clean although there were cobwebs.

Review 24:Good location. Plenty of space outside hotel to park but it's only free for limited hours by using the parking discs provided by the hotel. Couple who run the hotel are charming and speak excellent English. Good pressure in shower. Breakfast standard continental buffet with the offer of a boiled egg; plentiful and set in a very attractive breakfast room.

Review 25:Limited parking, but not a show stopper.

Review 26:The owner goes out of her way to make sure that your stay is a perfect one. Wish we had more time so that we could have stayed here more than one night.

Review 27:No toiletries provided. One tiny cake of soap to last 3 days even though we had a suite. Separate toilet had no soap, other not restocked. Breakfast very poor selection and quantity. Disappointing in those regards.

Review 28:Location was lovely to explore the quaint little town. The town was a highlight.

Review 29:The parking is misleading as you can only park outside between 10am and 4pm with a permit you have to purchase from the town hall but you can park in a nearby free car park. It was extremely hot during our stay and the rooms obviously do not have air conditioning or fans so it was difficult to sleep.

Review 30:Run by a friendly couple. We enjoyed staying during the week long festival when we joined in the festivities in this welcoming town. We found some very good authentic restaurants. It's a very useful base for visiting other towns on the Romantic Road.

Review 31:Very small room but was perfectly adequate for the one night we stayed.

Review 32:Located in the middle of lovely old German town on the Romantic road. Very friendly and helpful lady owner. Historic building with some interesting art work. Free overnight parking outside hotel

Review 33:The bathroom was in need of an upgrade. Breakfast was the worst I had in my 16 days in Europe - little selection or effort :( Parking was free till 10am then you had to move your car outside the walled city - small bummer. No mini fridge in room, it is expected in 2015 in most of Europe. Check-out was 10 AM, too early

Review 34:The room was big and impressive looking furniture. Was clean. Parking was free till 10am then you had to move your car outside the walled city - small bummer.

Review 35:We didn't know we had to arrive by 10pm. But we were glad we did it, so we had enough time to have an excellent Italian dinner next door.

Review 36:This is a VERY beautiful and convenient place.

Review 37:The lack of a lift but then the building is over a 200 years old and is in very good condition.

Review 38:We enjoyed the four poster double bed and the set of our room. The friendliness of the staff and the helpfulness with plenty of information on the town and the Romantic Road.

Review 39:Nothing to dislike about this accommodation

Review 40:This family run accommodation gave us everything!!! It is well located with parking right in front, the couple who own and run it make your stay one to remember and we felt very welcome from the minute we walked in, the husband is a very accomplished artist with lots of his work hanging in the rooms, it's also available to buy and you can even watch him create the masterpieces right there in reception. Breakfast is provided in a quaint little room, although it's the typical European fare of cold meats, cheese breads and fruit etc it's all beautifully fresh and is just perfect start to the day. It's the very reason we choose family run accommodation when ever we can it just so much nicer than a commercial hotel, and this one ticks all the boxes.

Review 41:Location is not that good. It is near the edge of the center. Bothered by noise from the next room. Room condition is below 3 star hotel standard.

Review 42:Small hotel with rooms less than 5 I guess. Not crowded at all when having breakfast.

Review 43:The room with the four poster bed was nice. The location was great for seeing the town and eating out in the evening. Parking was right at the hotel,

Review 44:room seems a little small.

Review 45:easy to find, and the old town itself is quite small, about 1.5 hrs walk to see all the historical buildings. the owner's husband is an artist, and the room is decorated by his beautiful paintings. the dining room has a long history.

Review 46:The hotel is in a very convenient location. The owners are helpful. The room was nicely decorated and very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was delicious!

Review 47:Check-in time is not very flexible. It's better to tell the owner if you are going to be late.

Review 48:It's comfortable and very well located. It's within the medieval town wall and by foot you can visit the entire town.

Review 49:lack of kettle in the room to prepare tea or coffee

Review 50:Super localization, in the centre of historical city. Old, climatic furniture in the room. Nice owners

Review 51:this is nothing to do with the hotel, but Dinkensbühl town itself has too many cars on the streets, so all this pretty old houses just look unnaturally like awquard decoration..

Review 52:Like to be back in childhood, come to grandmother and sleep on goose quill pillow.

Review 53:I can not think of one negative thing to say about this experience. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 54:Loved everything about this place, including the gracious owners who were most hospitable and spoke good English.

Review 55:No elevator. The building was old and listed with an antique buildings' many different creaking and sounds. One room was dark because light over seating area was not working.

Review 56:Central, easy to find, the possibility for private parking, beautiful setting in the historic town. Lovingly restored building characterized by owners own art and eye for detail. The reception also contained an art gallery and sale of owners' own art products. Spacious rooms furnish in pituresk style, plenty of space for our own luggage, comfortable beds. The breakfast room was truly a delight to the eye. Breakfast was plentiful, served by the friendly hostess. The hosts were helpful with information about the town and its history, what was worth seeing and where we could find good restaurants.

Review 57:The beds were a little hard, but better too hard than too soft. The rooms must not be well insulated 'cause we could hear the people next to us.

Review 58:LOVE the town. Too bad it was raining, so we didn't really explore. The price for this hotel was great (Euro 70 for the room & breakfast). The breakfast was buffet style, and good. Can't beat it for the price.

Review 59:LEAVING!

Review 60:If you want to stay in an American type chain hotel then this is not for you. But, if you want to stay along the Romantic Road, in the most romantic village in a real German romanic hotel then this is for you. We stayed 4 nights and wanted to stay longer

Review 61:We loved everything about our short stay - entering through the artworks and ceramics for sale, our large and comfortable Bavarian decorated room, the excellent regional cuisine at the owner's daughter's restaurant after a stroll through the unique town, the excellent breakfast and inviting breakfast room looking onto a pretty courtyard. We especially enjoyed our chat with the Appelberg's as we browsed through their creations and purchased a few unique momentoes of our time in Germany. Can't wait to hang them in my home!

Review 62:Disappointed we were only there for a Sunday and most things were closed.

Review 63:The room was absolutely fantastic Very romantic just loved the whole place .

Review 64:No decaff coffee available - was made to feel like I'd asked for something totally outlandish!

Review 65:The decor was delightful. Really pretty furniture in our room and throughout the hotel. Very comfortable bed and the breakfast was excellent.

Review 66:Resturant next door noisy at night and had very smelly bins outside our room. Lots of flies due to this. Nothing to do with this hotel but possibly the bins are something that could be addressed with the resturant.

Review 67:Large family room, lovely breakfast.

Review 68:The location of the hotel is good, as it is just close to the city wall but out of the crowd. The owner is kind and helpful. Free car park is available, an issue in a town that is an almost thoroughly pedestrian area.

Review 69:Nothing

Review 70:The couple who run this hotel do all that they can to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. Our bedroom was beautifully fitted out with hand painted furniture. The breakfast was very good. Dinkelbühl is a historical and very attractive town with medieval buildings and a town wall with entrance gates and towers.

Review 71:Not much! We were there to go to Rothenberg, which was about a 30 minute drive.

Review 72:The town of Dinkelsbühl was wonderful - like Rothenburg only smaller and less touristy. Our hosts were very interesting and informative. Our room and the breakfast area were absolutely lovely (traditional furniture, canopy bed!). Huge bathroom!

Review 73:This is a typical German small inn with no amenities, but attentive service, a comfortable bed and a very good the German-style breakfast. The room was very clean and the breakfast room was very pleasant.

Review 74:It didn't bother me, but my daughter couldn't find any information in the room on connecting to the wifi and there was nobody to ask at the time.

Review 75:Pretty well everything was good and pleasant.

Review 76:Had stayed in Dinkelsbuehl many times before but this was our first experience in this hotel. Fantastic 4-poster bed and antique furniture. Stayed overnight to and from Austria. Very friendly host and good breakfast. Will book again.

Review 77:was more like a bed and breakfast. No lift access if disabled. No staff after 6pm. None of these aspects were a problem for us but good to know. Bed squeaky and not very comfortable.

Review 78:good location. plenty of space, very clean. Owners were delightful.

Review 79:Early check in by 6 pm. However can call ahead if going to be late.
