Reviews for Hotel Wilder Mann
Review 1:Located along the riverfront with view of castle atop a cliff on opposite side of riverbank. Rooms are comfortable & stylish, staff were polite. A short walk from several good restaurants & from cathedral with evening organ recitals.
Review 2:Because this is such an old building--1,000 years old--the room was small. A small price to pay for a charming hotel.
Review 3:The location was great, right near the river and close to the cathedral. The desk staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 4:The room we had had a squeaky bed, they need to dump this! I have never come across a bed like this in the 8 trips I have been to Europe.
Review 5:top Location near the Danube Staff at desk very friendly & breakfast good food! A good clean Hotel & Highly recommend.
Review 6:This hotel certainly employed the right people on reception We liked how friendly and welcoming they were.. A few went out of there way to help us. Location was great Breakfast was great withh many choices.
Review 7:Bed is not so good for tall people.
Review 8:Great location. Friendly front desk staff. The room was very small but we knew it would be. We were willing to trade some comfort for the great location.
Review 9:could have done with a shelf next to the bed as there was nowhere for mobile phone etc except on the floor or under the pillow
Review 10:Uniqueness of the property
Review 11:Bed could have done eith a thicker mattress.
Review 12:Location, historic 17th century building and the 30,000 piece glass museum. Hotel is in centre of town next to the Town Hall on the waterfront. Lovely views. Our second visit.
Review 13:Nice place right near the river and in the same building as the Glass House Museum. It's a short walk to the Cathedral. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was worth the extra 5 or 7 Euros.
Review 14:The staff was not only extremely helpful, the afternoon desk was staffed with an exceptional tech assistant to make sure my email, etc were working well. Everyone there made my stay carefree. They even kept my bike for me while I left for two days to get my wife. The breakfast room is beautiful.
Review 15:No mention of wifi solution
Review 16:Excellent location, fantastic art deco interior, hotel with character and charm, very helpful staff with tips for late night-restaurant
Review 17:We liked the fact that the hotel was in a historic building in the middle of the old town of Passau; in fact it is located just across from the Passsau tourist office where you can get a lot of information on what to do. The hotel also houses a museum. We had two single rooms towards a quiet courtyard; we liked the painted beds and wardrobes in old-fashioned style; this blended well with the overall environment of the place. Should you have booked a Danube cruise, many of the ships are docked just a few meters away from the hotel. We would stay there again.
Review 18:standard room is pretty small, especially the bathroom.
Review 19:A Perfect location in Oldtown Passau. The breakfast area is definately worth a visit with an excellent view on the castle.
Review 20:Marvelous outlook from balcony of dining room - but some mouldy (mildew) walls of neighbour house harm the perfect impression.
Review 21:We could park our bicycles downstairs even slightly longer after check-out... Sightseeing before leaving Passau- super!
Review 22:Perhaps I didn't read the fine print, but we discovered when it was time to pay that the breakfast was not included. Other guests paid less than we did, with breakfast included. The room had very poor internet; I had to go into the lobby.
Review 23:Lovely old building in a great location. Nice staff. Passau is worth visiting.
Review 24:Very nice, different hotel experience it reminded me of the inside of a castle, the room layout was neat. The staff was wonderful and very helpful, they gave me options on the euro rail system.
Review 25:Lovely hotel with lots of character and friendly and helpful staff. My room was clean and decent sized for a solo traveller and I liked the way that the door panels, bedstead and furniture had been decorated. The breakfast room is in a great position, on the 6th floor, bright and with nice views over parts of Passau. All in all, good value for money.
Review 26:Very hot....no A/C, but this is the same in much of Europe. Tiny room.
Review 27:Very helpful front desk staff. Happily stored our bags for a couple of hours after checkout until we could catch river cruise. Proactive about calling taxi to get us to river port.
Review 28:The outside of the hotel was in the process of being decorated and so there was scaffolding and netting obstructing our wonderful views across to the castle and the river below. Our comfort bedroom was small and extremely hot. Lack of air con and/or electric fan. We had two windows but these could only be opened slightly.
Review 29:We loved everything from the extremely friendly and helpful reception staff to the beautiful traditional (albeit rather small) rooms right in the centre of picture postcard pretty Passau. Comfort bedrooms were traditionally furnished, pretty but rather small. The historic building also housed the Glass Museum. The buffet breakfast was served in a beautiful bright cool room with high ceilings and wonderful views across the town.
Review 30:Welcoming informed happy to assist with suggestions and information. Room small but good. Breakfast excellent and the room itself beautiful. Reluctant to leave!
Review 31:The Internet was quite frustrating, being weak or unavailable. We learned however they are now planning to install a stronger and ore reliable system. These absolutely d buildings have a challenge with their thick walls. We will definitely return!
Review 32:Location , staff, breakfast
Review 33:Pillows very thin - but that's personal.
Review 34:Lovely and interesting old building Friendly reception staff Excellent location Superb breakfast room with large windows on sixth floor- views! Good value with the Comfort doubles
Review 35:Do not enjoy the European style of double beds.
Review 36:This hotel is in the heart of Passau! It is a great location for travel, restaurants, seeing old town, a visit to the castle on the hill or shopping. We stayed here for 1 night before leaving on a barge and bike trip. Because it was so beautiful in Passau we booked two extra unplanned nights on our return.
Review 37:the parking lot is a block away form the hotel. over priced a little bit. no wi-fi
Review 38:location. the wooden bed is very comfortable and with design, and seems like amtique.
Review 39:Further from train station than 1 km advertised. Closer to 2 km. Would be a slog with a wheelie case. But bus is available or short taxi ride. Could not connect with WiFi during our visit
Review 40:Clean, quiet, good breakfast, close to bridge out of town for easy start to Danube bike trip. Great restaurant located beside bridge fyi
Review 41:There are no real complaints. It will however assist to have a kettle in the room or at least in the reception area.
Review 42:The location of the hotel is the best. The character of the hotel is out of this world. With Sissi as a guest log time ago added to the uniqueness of the hotel in the Alt Stadt.
Review 43:The Easter Sunday breakfast was the best way to start the day. The room has a lovely view and the selection was outstanding. Even our picky eater was happy. The rooms were quiet and the beds comfortable. All in a hotel within walking distance of the majority of sites.
Review 44:Several of the key staff didn't speak English: front desk (1)and servers in dining room. Was
Review 45:Great location and room. The bed and duvet were wonderful. Loved the bathroom with heated towel rack. Shower great. Exceptional breakfast and setting. 2 front desk were very helpful to find restaurants and sights.
Review 46:Had quite a few problems trying to connect to Wifi
Review 47:All was very good, helpful Argentinian receptionist, nice room as pictured on the web, comfortable bed.
Review 48:Lift didn't actually go to the 5th floor but between 5&6.
Review 49:Very central location on the Danube 5 minutes from the Dom. An historic hotel with a glass museum incorporated. Traditional style of room , spectacular breakfast salon and decent breakfast. very good value for money. The reception recommended a good restaurant ( Grune Baum ) nearby.
Review 50:Pillows absolutely flat - I hardly slept, despite having two!! Room far too small for two people; we couldn't move!!
Review 51:Breakfast good, wi-fi good, staff helpful, style of building very appealing.
Review 52:- The breakfast is fair, but not match the quality expectable for a 4 star hotel
Review 53:- Very good location, right in the middle of the historic centre; - You can have a wonderful sight from the dining room; - Good value for money.
Review 54:Very good location. The breakfast was not rich but it was good. The parking underground garage was 200 metres from the hotel. Personals were helpfull. Room was clean but situated in the old building however it has not to be disadvantage (It depends on your feeling).
Review 55:The WiFi speed was a little bit slow
Review 56:The staff was very nice. The room was small yet cosy and beautiful. The hotel locates just on the riverside of Danube.
Review 57:Good looking hotel, but definitely not 4 stars standard – Mini bar really mini, lack of such little services a 4 stars can offers (no coffee and tea in the room, no extra towels, no bath robe, no slippers, no room service, no hotel bar…), bed very standard and a little bit hard (but this is personal feeling). Breakfast good, but nothing special - Warm dish not standard, you have to ask. A sum of little details which make this promising and good looking hotel disappointing at the end of the stay, particularly when you check out and you remind the price of the room. Conclusion: Overpriced even if the location is maybe one of the best in Passau - Will not go back, an hotel cannot count only on its infrastructure
Review 58:Location, Personnel (really nice people), Historical style of the hotel and breakfast room very nice
Review 59:Charming hotel and centrally located. Staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. Good breakfast in delightful dining room with wonderful views over the town. Highly recommend a visit to this hotel.
Review 60:Hotel situated in the center of Passau in old-time building with an old city hall just across the street, & a few steps of St Stephan cathedral. There are plenty of pubs around. Great breakfast with a fantastic view on roofs and cathedral.
Review 61:Hotel has wifi but I couldnt connect to it in the room for some reason.
Review 62:Room was nice, bathroom was perfectly clean. Hot shower with good water pressure. Come and go as you please at all hours of the night.
Review 63:The internet connection in the room was poor, perhaps because of thick masonry walls and had to use my computer in the lobby which was not a major problem.
Review 64:I loved the location, the staff and the wonderful breakfast with fantastic view.
Review 65:Breakfast: I have have been to similar hotels, with more variety on the breakfast table. The breakfast was boring. Hotel: This is a general problem with the old houses in Passau, the rooms are quite dark. You need to be aware of that.
Review 66:Staff: Helpful and nice staff Breakfast: The view from the breakfast room is fantastic.
Review 67:We arrive half and hour after our earliest check-in time to find the floor was still wet. Unfortunately the sheets on the bed were not properly aired and thus damp! Weak WiFi reception in the room.
Review 68:Great location, with interesting style and building, wonderful view from the restaurant. After check-out we were able to leave our bags for collection later in the day. With the Glass museum being in the same building and very extensive, it was interesting to workout how the hotel rooms fitted in.
Review 69:The hotel was a bit cold and bare - it could be due to the severe flooding last year but the reception could have been more welcoming with a few more rugs and atmosphere.
Review 70:The breakfast room and breakfast was nice. The people were good and helpful. the location was very good.
Review 71:glasses and their holders in the bathroom were dusty and with some hair inside and around. Perhaps someone cut the mustache...
Review 72:Friendly staff at reception and breakfast. Furniture and atmosphere were nice.Thank You!
Review 73:nothing.
Review 74:the location is within the old town centre and nearby the Danube shores; the room have a nice bavarian local flair; clean as one may expect it from Germany
Review 75:nothing
Review 76:Excellent location for exploreing the city which is wonderful lovely room with small consevatory glass museum in building very interesting lovely friendly staff well woth visit. We were able to park motorbike right outside near car parks for cars plenty of great places to eat.
Review 77:Superb top floor breakfast room with views over the Danube and Passau.Historic building where many famous guests have stayed (Gorbachev, NeilArmstrong, numerous European politicians and celibrities, not to forgetCherie Blair and Empress Elisabeth (Sisi)).
Review 78:Nothing (except it would be good if breakfast was included in the price!).
Review 79:Great location, room was well-appointed with a nice bathroom. Reasonable (but not fantastic) breakfast, for which we had to pay extra. Breakfast is served in a lovely room at the top of the hotel with great views over the Danube and up to the castle on the other side. Excellent wifi service.
Review 80:No elevator for two flights of stairs. Narrow bathroom with sloped ceiling giving little headroom for tall guests. Wi-fi works only in downtown stairs lobby, not in room or on patio. Mobile phone service registers you as being in Austria (across river), resulting in no data service and roaming charges for those on a German SIM card.
Review 81:Location in historic building next to summer palace of prince/bishops of Passau. New young proprietors eager to please. Delicious meals and large breakfast. Large bedroom with beautiful views through open windows.
Review 82:Electric fittings and wifi a bit erratic. But could be excused as the hotel ground floor was under water last year!
Review 83:Big quiet room with lots of character, view of courtyard garden, furnished in modern version of period style. Big comfortable bed. Amazing and beautiful historic glass exhibition connected to the hotel. Near the river and the meeting of the three rivers. Breakfast room on 6th floor with rooftop view.
Review 84:As there is no air con, we left the windows open at night but the noise was pretty disturbing.
Review 85:The hotel is in a fantastic location and the rooms are beautifully arranged. Breakfast was tasty and in an elegant room with views over the city.
Review 86:Granted, the empress Sissi stayed in this hotel twice and the location is great but, even with a view of the Danube and the Veste Oberhaus, a small, cramped room with a shower barely big enough to turn around in (and I am slim) is not worth the EURO 118 (96 room+14 breakfast+8 parking) that my wife and I paid. Especially when you consider that the mattress on the bed was probably once slept on by one of Sissi's sevants and the WiFi was very slow. A more realistic price for the room we had would have been EURO 50.
Review 87:Parking as difficult as the car park was full when we arrived and there was nowhere close by to park. No tea/coffee facilities
Review 88:The reception staff when we arrived was friendly and knowledgeable.
Review 89:Superb hotel, reeking with history, fantastic breakfast with everything, plus the best view in town; good secure bike storage right in the lobby. Modernised and comfortable.
Review 90:Extremely good value for money and the breakfast is worth every extra penny (with a gorgeous view over the rooftops of the city) The room has a nice design, the bed is comfortable, the shower great and the location is the best in the city. Plus - the staff is very friendly and it's relatively easy to park your car (you can park the car next to the hotel when you check out, then the staff will tell you about a carpark nearby) Passau is a lovely city, worth checking out. We're planning to come back.
Review 91:Very, very uncomfortable bed. Expensive for the quality if facility. Hallways smelled of smoke and lobby area very musky from last years flooding.
Review 92:Spacious room. Enclosed sitting room.
Review 93:Had to crawl over each other to get into bed. Room was very small, ok for a one night stay. Bathroom was tiny.
Review 94:Nothing.
Review 95:Helpfull stuff, very good location for trips in and out of Passau.
Review 96:magnificent building, spacious room with bath & location
Review 97:Rooms small but that"s what is expected in Europe , I guess. Nice breakfast.
Review 98:location
Review 99:Stunning and unusual hotel old cloister, lovely staff, right by the Danube River.
Review 100:The character of the building and rooms
Review 101:Maybe breakfast could start a bit earlier for business travellers...
Review 102:Good location, goodlooking design if someone likes "oldies".
Review 103:Wonderful, clean room & friendly staff.
Review 104:Great hotel for travelling on a cruise boat as access nearby
Review 105:Best location partly because an underground parking garage is only a few hundred feet away. The place is good for a stop-over but not much more.
Review 106:Wonderful old building, good breakfast with view over rooftops to cathedral. Lovely location in the old town by the Danube.
Review 107:We really liked everything about the Wilder Mann, but the breakfast on the top floor was truly exceptional.
Review 108:The room is compact but was quite nice, the breakfast room was exquisite and breakfast yummy.
Review 109:Historic building. Nice rooms.
Review 110:Lack of private parking. However, the public parking was not so bad and not very far away.
Review 111:Clean, quite and very friendly staff.
Review 112:Kind staff; very informative about all you need. Cool location,
Review 113:location of the hotel very nice , a very top hotel , but no WiFi and a very ditant personal
Review 114:Bed was rock hard. I like hard beds but this was poor. Worse sleep in 14 nights.
Review 115:Great location and friendly staff.
Review 116:Ground floor as the glass museum entrance - bit impersonal
Review 117:Friendliness and helpfulness of staff
Review 118:Room cramped, but we were only paying for a small double
Review 119:Friendly staff and proximity to glass museum
Review 120:Lovely room. Even a single room was a good size. Good breakfast and friendly staff.
