Reviews for Bayerischer Hof

Review 1:Breakfast for EUR 39 below expectations, car park for EUR 34 overpriced, SPA facilities very small and swimming pool too cold.

Review 2:Top service, top location, very beautiful room

Review 3:In our suite we experienced a number of electrical outages and intermittent television reception which was annoying additionally the high and wide bath surround made accesses to the over bath shower a challenge.

Review 4:The location is excellent, close to everything you need. The restaurants I used, Trader Vic's and Atelier, were very different but equally good. We had a junior suite decorated in traditional Baverian style, wood paneling and four poster bed which was a real delight.

Review 5:There are no tea/coffee making facilities on room. I did not like having to ask for room service for a simple pot of tea - which was in fact cold when it was brought as the water was brought in a thermos and therefore not boiling as it has to be to make proper tea. Why can't you just leave a kettle and some tea bags so people can make their own tea or coffee properly?

Review 6:Comfort and location. Friendly staff.

Review 7:On my taste rooms are a bit old stylish, I prefer modern styled hotels.

Review 8:Location, valet parking, breakfast was excellent, nothing else to wish, beautiful views from rooms and breakfast restaurant, bathroom with heated floors and cosy atmosphere. A lot of restaurants and bars in the hotel and around are a huge advantage of this hotel. Staff is very attentive to details.

Review 9:The Dinner at the Bavarian Cellar was not satisfactory I received something very different from how the dish was explained on the menu. The breakfast was fantastic.

Review 10:The room was great and very comfortable

Review 11:We thought the room decoration was a little dated although the bathroom was excellent.

Review 12:The facilities were excellent especially the swimming pool & spa along with the excellent Traders Vic & nightclub

Review 13:The staff was top notch! The hotel was clean, spacious , private and Comfortable. The smell of streusel baking every morning and pretzels in the afternoon from the open air Windows overlooking the interior garden made our experience unforgettable....Close to restaraunts, high end stores mixed in with the German essentials .

Review 14:Because of the thatched roof rooms on the last two floors don't benefit from the same ceiling height

Review 15:Great location Charmful hotel Great breakfast and gym/pool both with nice views over the city

Review 16:One of the nicer hotels we have stayed at in Europe. Compare it to Prague Four seasons which we consider one of the nicest places we have ever stayed.

Review 17:I was last at this hotel in 1968, and although virtually everything his been remodeled and improved, it still has the old world charm and elegance that keeps this the best hotel in Munich.

Review 18:Everything! I left my little white cotton nightgown in Room 209 in my haste to visit BMW factory yesterday morning. Will you please check with housekeeping to see if they found it and email me to let me know one way or another? Thank you. Judith Caldwell

Review 19:My room had a sloping roof with a protruding concrete beam adjacent to the desk. I am a slow learner and knocked my head several times! Breakfast was very expensive (euro 39 per person).

Review 20:Very clean and well appointed. Additional power-points in room would be advantageous.

Review 21:Location is so important for me. It is so close to a lot of the venues that I planned to visit. It's within walking distance to most of all my activities. It's so convenient. Besides the location, the hotel's services and food is amazing.

Review 22:Did not know you are required to tell them when you have 2 people in a room. Then that was another$120 each night. The beds are 2 twin beds pushed together very outdated room compare to Sofitel. Then was charged an extra 100 euros on one night they had to refund the credit card.

Review 23:Lobby was nice. Great location.

Review 24:No problems at all.

Review 25:Great service, beautiful rooms, excellent location, great food, air conditioning, awesome roof top pool- an immaculate hotel-best we ever stayed in - would never stay anywhere else in Munich.

Review 26:There is a club nearby and so noise may be a problem. Certain rooms have not yet been renovated but the toilet and bath have, and are quite nice.

Review 27:The location of the hotel is excellent -it's walking distance to Marienplatz. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Ample parking for those who may require it.

Review 28:Welcome fruit in room was old and rotten. Check in was over a hour latewhich is annoying when you have a baby. I would say that it is just alittle annoying to see some guests (of a certain nationality) greeted sowarmly, accompanied to the elevator by reception.. A manager flew out ofa back room to shake (and take a tip) from someones hand but thenwouldnt make eye contact or respond so he didnt have to help us. Itseems no matter how much you pay there are always some guests who aretreated a little better. Which is ok.. But should be done in private inmy opinion. We were upgraded to a junior suite but it wasnt so muchdifferent to the normal rooms I stay in.

Review 29:Pet friendly. Baby friendly.. Lovely baby bed and bath products.Garage & porters is amazing Location is amazing. Staff andfriendly and helpfull!

Review 30:At check in time room not ready because someone smoked, after lunchstillo smoke, we get other room but airco not working. Will berepaired. After Diner airco still not working, pack suitcases andanothyer room, again sigarsmoking, again other room, tv not working andshower handle on floor. In meantime it was midnight and 31 degree. Worsthotel I ever been, I did not enjoy my stay and could not be in the roomwhen I want, I asked for 50% discount, manager wanted to offer 20%, Itold him actually you have to give for free, all day I changed rooms andnever could rtelax in the room. He did not want to give more, I rejectedthe discount and pay in full and want to start a forum about this hoteland all thing what goes wrong. Never go in july, august and Septyember, tyhe hotel is full with Arabic Families with 100 children with nanniesin the halls and children all night playing in the halls.

Review 31:The location of the hotel

Review 32:First room we had was dark and the decoration dark forboding!! we were however offered a second room which still did not have a lot of natural light but the decoration was lighter and happier!! You need to lighten up those dark rooms! Didn't like the workers in the swimming pool area!

Review 33:Location to city centre and good restaurants and shops.

Review 34:The hotel has lost its character. No personality. Impersonal. Bavarian flair is lost. International mass Hotel. Very sad. / Das Hotel hat seinen Charakter verloren. Keine Persönlichkeit. Unpersönlich. Bayerischer Flair ist verloren. Internationales Massenabfertigungs Hotel. Dachterasse vernachlässigt, Bar hat Charme verloren, etc, etc, etc, Sehr schade. Kein Besuch wert.

Review 35:Good beds, cozy rooms / Gute Betten, gemütliche Zimmer

Review 36:1. Price expensive for room 2. with the cost of the room rate does not include breakfast 3. parking most expensive hotel in Europe almost 33 euros

Review 37:I liked everything. There is no concerns about the hotel.

Review 38:I liked the city itself very much and a hotel as well. I loved the room where I stayed and the hotel food that I tried. I liked the service.

Review 39:We had to move to a different room because of not functioning air condition or leaking ceiling 4 times! Basically the hotel and staff are let down by the technical deficiencies:(

Review 40:Friendliness of staff, decoration of the rooms and corridors

Review 41:Rooms too warm

Review 42:Hotel was really good. Munich was a really good city lots of things to see and do in a small area. Hotel in a good location. Mikes bike tour best thing we did.

Review 43:valet parking, great bar (falk's) and food (trader vic's), perfect location, staff, room (we got upgraded 2 categories), I felt like a princess. we'll be back, with the puppy, she enjoyed her stay as well!

Review 44:Personal is simply awfull.Room I got had broken AC/ I wait for 20 minutes for technicans to visit me/ Nothing was doine - I had to change the room. Concierge will not react on you, unless he stop joking with his collegues right before your eyes. Other concierge have sent us for brunch to a cafe, which has an hour yet to be opened.

Review 45:Location is cool.

Review 46:If I had anything to say it would be the matress of the bed. It was a bit weird, like it was leather covered! So the bedsheets on top were a bit squeeky! It might be worth looking into as a further improvement but I wouldn't call it exactly a negative thing.

Review 47:I have travelled in quite a lot of high end hotels due to business. This time it was more about R&R. The hotel has been amazing. From the minute you walk in you are confronted by very friendly staff, willing to reply to your every question (they are very knowledgable and give good tips for the area). Always with a smile, which is very important. Unfortunately I did not have the time to check out the hotel facilities (restaurants and bars), I will for sure next time! In more detail, the room was very spacious, even had a walk-in closet (very rare to find in hotels!). Also a couch and coffee table. The location was right in the heart of Munich and most attractions were within walking distance. For everything else there was the UBahn (if you don't want to use taxis). But being in the center does not mean it was in a loud area. On the contrary, apart from some renovation that was going on opposite the room everything was good. Also, if you are there for shopping that's the place to be.

Review 48:Service - reception No pay TV working and staff directed us to English channels which were either news or religion based programs Waited till 5 pm for room on arrival

Review 49:Location Breakfast Facilities Room service staff v helpful

Review 50:Old fashioned hotel: Smelly rooms, bathroom was of the 80s. Over rated and totally overpriced! It is quite difficult to understand how this hotel has still a 5star rating! As a frequent traveller the booking rating should be around 8.1 with room rates of 250€!

Review 51:The suite in the Palais Montgelas part of the hotel was very spacious, comfortable and quiet. The location is near the center of Munich but not in a tourist area. Restaurants are good but didnt try the breakfast.

Review 52:Room service and TV Burger, fantastic bathroom, swimmingpool on the roof, excellent location, concierge service kept my entrance ticket for soccer game delivered by UPS to Hotel directly 3 days before my arrival

Review 53:it is a little complicated to find all the restaurants, but after the first searches you get it

Review 54:the service was superb. I loved the grey tones at the Empore

Review 55:Trader Vics was quite poor for food quality/tastiness and service- very overrated. The service in the bar / coffee area at night was terrible it took over half an hour and three requests for the bill and we eventually left and advised the concierge at the front desk. The Sunday breakfast was like feeding time at the Zoo.

Review 56:Concierge was very helpful and we did apparently receive a room upgrade.

Review 57:Unfortunately the wifi didn't work for us and at that stage of our journey it was a necessity. Otherwise everything else was perfect.

Review 58:The staff were exceptionally helpful. The location was excellent, in that it was quiet and the taxi service was very good. Very clean and comfortable with very good facilities throughout the hotel.

Review 59:The breakfast was on the expensive side but I guess in this type of hotel in Munich you expect that. Very good breakfast though. Everything was super fresh and good service.

Review 60:Everything about the hotel was great. I was given a small room but I asked the reception and they change my room to a very good one which was my reservation. Very good location, good restaurants and a nice little jazz club in the basement. All in all very good.

Review 61:Staff very rude, all of them and not helpfull at all. The rooms are outdated. Not worth the $$$$$$. The other 5 stars hotel we stayed at the first day we arrived in Munich, was cheaper, cleaner and the staff super nice. Not a great experience...

Review 62:Location

Review 63:I didn't like the price of breakfast, it could be way cheaper.. Also I didn't like one bartender in the bar of the lobby .. He was unwelcome and didn't want to understand what kind of cocktail I need, but fortunately another girl bartender took my order and did it so good, I didn't even expect it to be so tasty..

Review 64:so for those two nights everything seemed to be excellent for me.

Review 65:I wish reception staff was a bit friendlier.

Review 66:Interior of the hotel and rooms is impeccable, good idea with the electronic push-button key, dressing room is very convenient, beautiful bar upstairs.

Review 67:Nothing!

Review 68:A superb traditional hotel in a very central location. Excellent in-house restaurants with enjoyable menus and very helpful, friendly staff. We were in Munich for the Christmas markets and the hotel was ideally situated for those. Truly 5-star service throughout!

Review 69:Douvet - too small for the bed. Insufficient pillows Sleep being disturbed as a result of drumming noise coming from the nightclub late at night.

Review 70:Courteous and friendly staff. Cleanliness of hotel generally. Location. Scrumptious cakes!

Review 71:Nothing

Review 72:Everything is always perfect. Each room is individually designed and the staff are trained to pamper you. This is a really great hotel which has been family managed forever. Cannot be faulted after more than 20 Visits spanning 2 Decades.

Review 73:Not enough time to make use of all facilities, such as swimming pool etc. Heating of room took a bit of figuring out

Review 74:Spacious and quiet room, rather good breakfast

Review 75:entry to the inhouse movie theater should be complimentary to guests, with a choice of movies if there are only limited viewers. Breakfast should be inclusive.

Review 76:The staff, the spa, the massage. We got an upgrade into a deluxe room. The room was not ready when we arrived and were offered complimentary beverages by the front desk manager. Excellent service with a smile. The concierge was helpful & knowledgeable about the city. Both me & my wife opted for the Blue Spa classic (swedish) massage. It was excellent. The Sauna facilities were also very good.

Review 77:We dined in two retaurants in the hotel ,the Palais Keller and The Garden restaurant . There were problems with the service on one occasion in each restaurant but we had a word with the Hotel Manager who apologised and assured us that he would speak to the restaurant manager to ensure a similar problem did not re-occur.

Review 78:Everything

Review 79:Rude and impolite staff at front desk, housekeeping, pool and restaurant. Dogs barking in the corridor and running up to me. Housekeeping walked into room without a knock or ring, porter knocked with DO NOT DISTURB out. Half hour wait for baggage.

Review 80:Location, quiet.

Review 81:No Hot water on Friday 17th Oct No apology or notification. Didn'tseem to have brother's booking (made in Feb) very expensive extrasand no complimentary water after day 1 Extraordinarily hot -couldn't work out air con

Review 82:Extremely helpful and knowledgeable young concierge - worked the morningshift Ideally and centrally located Very individual and the rooms werevery comfortable and attractive

Review 83:I don t find any faults .

Review 84:Everything is focus on the customer , his questions , his desires , his wishes. The staff always try to find out the best solutions . Efficiency , kindless , cleanliness and polaitness .

Review 85:Flexibility and recognition of customer loyalty. Have been going there for many years. This year I had to leave one night earlier and they would not allow me to shorten my reservation. No upgrades or flexibility to adjust schedule after many nights there.

Review 86:Location, quality of sleep, facility are excellent

Review 87:Dated furniture and finishing. Many large families from the Middle East, made it noisy and a non-business environment hotel.

Review 88:Facilities, location, rooftop spa and pool. Well trained and polite staff.

Review 89:There is nothing not to like.

Review 90:A high quality traditional hotel, centrally located. The breakfast room is by contrast modern and bright and an outstanding buffet selection and service. We would highly recommend staying in this hotel.

Review 91:freezing cold at breakfast room (US citizens were comfortable with arctic temps)

Review 92:valet parking flawless, attentive complimentary room upgrade: elegant decor, quiet room, very comfortable bed, excellent bathroom, good towels, superb cleanliness friendly check in staff good concierge service short walk to opera house excellent location of breakfast (stylish), small but well choosen breakfast-buffet of very good qual. wunderful location at spa level to have a la carte breakfast outside overlooking munich

Review 93:You will notice this box has been left blank!

Review 95:1.Should be more Bayerischer Hof Hotels in our travels !!!

Review 96:1.Excellent Location 2.Very good facilities 3.Excellent Staff - informative and very helpful + courteous *****

Review 97:The hotel room seemed run down. The first room we got was stuck in the back and we could not even get internet! The front room had a great view, but the carpet was stained, the window shutter broke, and the sofa bed for my daughter was horrible.

Review 98:LOCATION!!!!! The pool at the top had a great view!

Review 99:1. old carpet, a bad smell from it 2. sofa bed was considered an extra bed with daily charge for it, and with no comfort... didn't like it at all. would request to change this policy soon.

Review 100:nicely decorated, staff is excellent, swimming pool

Review 101:I just think that the pool is not as exciting and large as it seems in the photos.

Review 102:I liked everything. The location, the marvelous breakfast and the fact that this hotel gives you many high quality options. The food at the Cellar (one of the six restaurants) was great.

Review 103:No doorman when I arrived, but guess/hope was just bad timing
