Reviews for Jugendherberge Stuttgart International
Review 1:The location makes it difficult to get to with backpacks but the views are great, especially at night
Review 2:The facilities were very good and clean. Good breakfast
Review 3:Breakfast was just ok and strangely organized (jam and butter were in a completely separate room, no where near the bread). Beds were standard for a hostel (but not that comfortable).
Review 4:Beautiful location with a view of downtown. Bar and pool table to keep you occupied. Rooms were impeccably clean. Good value for amenities.
Review 5:If you want to spend a night hearing noisy children and loud teenagers, running on the corridors or making all kind of noises in the middle of the night, book a room here! Seriously, just stay in this hostel if it's your last resource. I wouldn't recommend it if you want peace and tranquillity. As a side note, I asked for a quiet room and they gave me the worst room ever: just in front of a staircase and in the middle of two corridors. A nightmare.
Review 6:Nice view of the city. Breakfast is free and meals are good for the price. Staff was attentive and could solve my problems (meaning switching rooms because of the unbearable noise).
Review 7:Expensive accomodation, little room, short beds. You can usr free wifi only in community spaces only half an hour in every 8 hours... There is no tomato for the breakfast :P
Review 8:Breakfast incuded is good.
Review 9:Free internet limited to only 2 thirty minute sessions per day. Must have a membership for this group of German hostels or buy a one time pass for 3 Euros.
Review 10:Excellent free breakfast. Chicken burger from the bar really good, too.
Review 11:There was few confusion at the reception. The location is way too difficult to find and if you follow google maps you will have to climb 120 steps to reach this property. Better you call ask for which tram that will stop even then it's somewhat difficult to find this property.
Review 12:The property is very clean The staff is very friendly. Food specially the buffet dinner is truly good. And a must try.
Review 13:the building more complicate many lift to connect to room, a little bit far from main train station but the bus stop not far from a hotel, no private parking,
Review 14:perfect staffs, facility, very clean,
Review 15:Website we booked from was misleading for the private rooms and it was very difficulty walking from the main station to the hostel. Overall staff were not eager to enhance our visit.
Review 16:Great breakfast buffet
Review 17:The check out time is quite bad at 10am, I'd originally requested late check out and had been told it was OK for a charge which I was OK with but when I got there they said I couldn't, although admittedly I think may have been the fault of booking.com.
Review 18:Well priced and comfortable, generally had everything you could need.
Review 19:The staff were very friendly and would do anything to help, excellentBreakfast, clean and tidy room. When we arrived the hostel had not received all the details of our booking from Booking.Com, we were therefore one bed short for our party of seven. As there were no spare rooms this could have been very awkward, fortunately the reception staff were able to find a spare bed to put in one of the bedrooms. Despite the issue not being their fault they did all the could to help us and avoided a potential situation that could have spoiled our holiday. As others have mentioned the Hostel is up a big hill, but don't let you put you off as Eugenplatz tram stop is nearby and the public transport in Stuttgart is excellent and very reasonable. Overall this place can't be faulted for the price you pay, would definitely recommend.
Review 20:Most of the staff was friendly, but there was one pretty ignorant guy that ruined my stay :/
Review 21:Location is nice .. having a nice view, but less handy for walking up there with luggage.
Review 22:I took a little bit long time to reach the hostel in the evening as the rountine from the railway station is not clear enough.
Review 23:The hostel has huge public space and the room is quite clean. Its breakfast room has a awesome view!
Review 24:- one of the elevators was kaput and not being fixed for 3 nights (our entire stay) - the location was a little tricky if you wanna make a short cut from the station by foot. Not for the people with suitcase, but if you use U bahn or taxi (around 10 - 11 euros), it only takes 10 minutes or so.
Review 25:Stuff (including kitchen stuff) were so friendly. Wifi was free 30 minutes for twice a day (once in 12 hours). Breakfast was basic german style, with a variety of hum, cheese, jams, yogurt, bread, fruit, etc..
Review 26:Hotels in Germany usually have two drains in the bathroom: one on the floor of the shower, which itself is raised a little. The other is in the bathroom itself, to drain out any spilling water when you shower. The room I stayed at did not have this additional drain. One accidental spill made the bathroom floor wet for the remainder of my stay (the hotel maid/maidman did not clean it up). Also, you have to pay for WiFi. When you do pay, you only have access to it in designated places.
Review 27:I really enjoyed the free breakfast! Good German bread, Muesli cereal, jam, ham and salamis, coffee, and juice, all buffet style.
Review 28:The wifi is only provided in one section of the building, and you onlyget the first 1/2 hour free. After that it's €5/day! If theycan't provide wifi throughout the building, they should at leasthave it be unlimited. Also forget about walking anywhere from the hostel-it's located on this beastly hill in a somewhat residentialneighborhood. However, a few metro station are only a 5 min walk away.
Review 29:My bathroom was cleaned every day, and the breakfast was excellent.
Review 30:Be prepare to climb hills, totally nightmare if u carry luggage and know only with the map. There's short cuts with long, steep staircases! The hostel is like maze, easy to get lost n they charge u booking.com service fee!
Review 31:Struggled to find it. Up very steep hills. Awesome view but to get to it was very challenging. Its out of the way and had I know the kilometres from centre were uphill I would've went elsewhere.
Review 32:Very interesting design.
Review 33:This is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. My stay started out great, but did not end as well as I'd hoped. I had a train to catch at 0630h, but upon making my way to the reception at 0545h there was no one at the reception. When he showed up almost 20 minutes later, he forgot the code which opens up the stored baggage room. I almost missed my train by a hair's breadth! Despite promises from counter staff the night before that everything will go smoothly, one should keep in mind that there is no guarantee. Prepare to be inconvenienced. I also did not like the incredible amount of noise generated by loads of kids staying here, but what else does one expect from a youth hostel??
Review 34:Mostly everything.
Review 35:The hotel is 400 stairs away from the train station, the wifi is free only 30 minutes, no air conditioner on the room
Review 36:The breakfast is good, and the staff is good also
Review 37:Very loud between 10pm and midnight, so difficult to get a decent amount of sleep. "Quiet hours" are 22.00 until 07.00 but staff did not enforce this at all despite a room mate notifying them. Also, wifi worked but wouldn't allow access to sites such as BBC.
Review 38:I stayed twice in one week. There was a wide selection for breakfast. Also, you are provided with a towel and the shower has soap in. For anyone who can't speak German, the staff also speak English. There are lockers available in the rooms, all you need to do is put a €1 coin in which you get back later. Room was very clean, with plenty of plug sockets. Only 15 minutes walk from the main train station.
Review 39:Wifi didn't work in the room and you had to pay after a certain time. Staff at the front desk could have gone over the main sights in Stuttgart.
Review 40:There was a balcony with tables and chairs with good views of the city. Good breakfast.
Review 41:WiFi reach could be extended, as it only covers a few of the public spaces
Review 42:Great view of the city and yet close to the sation, very clean rooms and public spaces, and friendly staff
Review 43:I paid wifi 5€ for 24h - was sluggish in the evening and just did not work in the morning - I needed it for professional use :-(
Review 44:exactly what to expect from a good youth hostel
Review 45:the wifi is only free for 1 hour everyday.
Review 46:the staff is nice and helpful. they helped a lot. if you come with heavy luggage, please take bus from the main station because there are so many stairs to walk through like that's endless...
Review 47:Please take the bus U15 Though it seems located near to the Hbf, the way isn't straight and it's uphill, steep. It took for me almost 1 hr and lots of sweat to go from Hbf to the hotel with my 29" trolley and 40L backpack.
Review 48:Clean, helpful staff, etc
Review 49:This hostel was great! The view is amazing and so near a tram stop so as not to have to use the stairs. The staff was great, and the breakfast included was amazing! Just what you need in the morning. The room was very comfortable and clean with just the essentials: don't forget to bring your own soap (though there is some there)
Review 50:It features free wifi, but it's only free for 30 minutes in 8 hours and available only at reception and bistro. If you wish to have longer period, you can pay €5 for 24 hours of access. Should give you a heads up on whats coming
Review 51:It has quite good room. Nice bistro to have breakfast and hang out.
Review 52:I appreciate first the warm reception, helpful and good advice, second the view from the auberge is amazing !!!! In general it's recommended to go there :)
Review 53:It's on a steep hill top, that we had to climb 3 huge sets of steep stairs to get to the hostel, with all our bags. Take the metro or a cab! There is only internet in the "common" areas, so we could not skype with our families.
Review 54:The staff were Super nice and Very helpful. The facilities were standard and sufficient for what we needed. It could be further from the old city.
Review 55:This is our second visit - the first was 5 years ago. Our double room was basic but clean and comfortable and a perfect base when visiting the beer festival at Cannstatt. Free car parking on the street right outside, helpful staff and a good breakfast - if the weather is nice you can sit on the balcony.
Review 56:The directions for the hostel entrance from the street are not very clear or visible. There was a lot of kids running on the corridors at night and there was a unused and filthy bed in the dorm. There's wi-fi only in certain places of the building and it's a payed service. The price per night was expensive.
Review 57:The Hostel is located on a hill, so the view is great. There is a WC inside the rooms and the breakfast is very diverse and tasty.
Review 58:Room only came with bedsheets (we had to make our own beds ) but no soap, napkins or paper towel, no blowdryer, and worst of all NO WiFi in the room. The WiFi that was avail. in the reception area was quite weak. When my friends and I tried connecting the signal was slow and we kept being dropped from Hotmail. Lastly, with all due respect, the reception staff was stationed by teenagers, maybe around 16-17 yrs old. I was not impressed with their lack of knowledge of the area (e.g. restos and bars). Overall disappointed with place.
Review 59:Location was decent as it was near train station, about 15 mins. walk, the room was clean overall, and incl. breakfast was decent but basic. However eggs and orange juice (powdered) always ran out.
Review 60:I stayed in a room with 3 other girls, it always causes some inconveniences...
Review 61:The location is great - right on top of the hill, lounge zone is very modern, lots of lights there at night, with a balcony (there are tables) overlooking the city - great for a dinner!
Review 62:the location... you have to go through an insane amount of stairs before getting to the place... I would recommend that the official website gives directions of how to reach the hostel by u-ban from central station.
Review 63:the cleanliness
Review 64:- twin room reserved and confirmed in March 6th, for six nights in August. When we arrive, room wasn't available and was replaced by a room with four beds (two double bunk bed). No solution was given and we've been told that they will go back for a solution but no feedback/information were provided during our stay! - very visible cotton dust, just under bed and nearby corridor, that stayed during period accommodation. - limited internet to lobby
Review 65:- good breakfast
Review 66:dinner - we selected 'half board' as we had had a 24 hour flight and needed an early night - the menu we were shown in the morning was not what was served in the evening - instead of the usual wednesday food we had a bar - b -que of tough overcooked meat and tired looking salad and watermelon - we were unable to eat the meat! despite eating a 5.30pm the food looked like it was yesterdays rather than freshly cooled
Review 67:lovely deck for drinks / breakfast etc - great views excellent breakfast - such variety and excellent quality good transport to the hostel friendly staff
Review 68:- No soap or towels in the bathroom - WLAN was only available in public spaces - Some guests were noisy during the night
Review 69:- Great view over the city - Good breakfast - Nice bistro with cheap and tasty sushi - Clean and comfortable public spaces
Review 70:- Location is not the closed as it appears to the city center and to the main station since the hotel is located on a hill so walking back to the hotel was painful especially if you take the 300 stairs - I didn't feel at all relaxed in my bed and there is no need for two beds above each other in a single person room. it bothered me a lot and pillows were not relaxing as well - the walls of the rooms were not soundproof - i couldn't sleep due to the noise of the children playing in the corridor
Review 71:The staff was really friendly and they were helping a lot whenever they were asked too you have a large variety for breakfast and it tastes good
Review 72:They lost my HI card and send me a ridiculous one (hand made)... terrible! Hostel good located if you are going down, almost impossible to go up so consider spending a ticket on the U15 to get back...
Review 73:Good infra-structure
Review 74:Parking was a bit difficult and coming up the steps from town was good exercise, but hard.
Review 75:I liked the good spread of breakfast and I liked the easy access to the rooms.
Review 76:Staff was stroppy, so first impression was poor, te charged for everything, I was almost expecting to be charged for the air o was breathing. Location is...well in te middle of nowhere and on the hill, so cycling up there is no way. Yes the view is good if your room faces that way, which often does not. But then again, Stuttgart is nothing special, industrial, rich with clear signs of extreme poverty. Overall, my stay in Stuttgart was poor...
Review 77:There was very little that I liked bit if there is anything it mist be the fact that I was alone in the dorm, but that was mainly because of luck. Though breakfast was also OK. But I paid for it so it doesn't count...
Review 78:stayed in a single room right near a creaky door that loads of people not all quiet used and the fact that the floor was marble-esque and kept on reverberating sounds at night. I always pay more because I'm a solo traveller and get shotty rooms assigned
Review 79:Location was fabulous and very pretty and the staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were very good
Review 80:Had to pay for internet service, breakfast could have included eggs, etc. instead of mostly lunch-type items, could have a few more options for people with a gluten allergy.
Review 81:Easy to get around town from there, nice social atmosphere, some gluten- free food available, nice and reasonable dinner buffet available. Also, it's located in an absolutely beautiful spot-loved eating out on the balcony overlooking the city!
Review 82:long corridor
Review 83:friendly staff
Review 84:Within walking distance to the most beautiful Christmas Markets! Nice and comfortable 1-night stay, breakfast good!
Review 85:Hard work to walk up the steps
Review 86:The view is spectacular
Review 87:Location...I am an adult and was thankful I selected this over hotel.
Review 88:No wifi in rooms. Weak wifi signal at bistro area. Spider webs on ceiling above bunk beds.
Review 89:Good location, inexpensive
Review 90:location

Review 116:hot in summer. hotel on mountains, exhaust if by walk from railway station.
Review 117:breakfast good
Review 118:Added extra € on arrival x4 so wasn't happy as a matter of principle, in the end same if not more than a hotel
Review 119:The staff, and location
Review 120:very difficult to find
Review 121:the view is nice
Review 122:The 30 mins free wifi is very inconvinent to the tenant here

Review 125:internet duration is so short and need to pay
Review 126:good choice
Review 127:internet connection could be more long lasting

Review 129:Complicated scheme of getting around - several buildings which are problematically connected...
Review 130:A look, free parking in front of the building.
Review 131:It's at the top of a hill...too many stairs to climb...
Review 132:No WiFi.. Over priced
