Reviews for Rügen-Hotel Sassnitz
Review 1:Pool was closed when we arrived after 22. Hotel said room was paid for but did not give receipt.
Review 2:Sea view both from room and breakfastroom. Rugen Island beatiful
Review 3:This hotel is located near the railway station and can not be mixed up - it is the highest building in Sassnitz. From the visual point of view it is not appealing and reminds on the worst manifestations of soviet architecture. Still inside it is comfortable and provides everything needed for a good rest. The rooms are old-fashioned and probably were like this before the reunion of Germany, still there is everything one can need for a short stay at least. The double-room is normally seized, there are two armchairs and a small table. The bathroom was very clean and had enough space. The breakfast in the Panorama-bar has its biggest advantage in the magnificent view over the sea. The choice at the buffet is rich and the empty dishes are exchanged in time. Also sauna is worth mentioning in positive tones. There are hot sauna, hamam and sanarium. Every hour some new scents are poured on the hot stones in sauna. As Sassnitz is so tiny you can easily reach everything in this town by foot, including the start of the walking trail to Koenigsstuhl. Otherwise there is a bus stop in the front of the hotel, which also provides connection to other towns on the island. No WiFi provided, you have to buy a 24h-Card, which is so typical for Germany
Review 4:Convenient for our purposes. We asked for a child's bed to be installed in our room and it was ready when we arrived. It isn't a showplace but everything works and it's clean and efficient.
Review 5:We booked a seaview, we got a city view, we booked a double room we got a single. When we asked for a double they put us in a room where two single beds where just pushed together. We where out on the top floor, from 7am in morning the you could hear the chairs and people walking and talking in the breakfast room. Staff very unfriendly, the hotel was the worst I have ever stayed in. It was very smelly small and over all horrible building.
Review 6:The Breakfast was fresh
Review 7:- No (free) Wifi. The only possibility was a Telekom hotspot à 4.95 a day. - There were no free electric Soccets
Review 8:- Good hotel - excellent breakfast. - The beds are fantastic!
Review 9:No free wifi. Payable (T-mobile) serves one item in one moment only. No air condition. Room located from street side is a bit noisy when window is open.
Review 10:Nice breakfast with suberb view in Panorama Cafe on 9th floor.
Review 11:Beds were not very comfortable - pillow was "grainy" and felt like it was the same age as the hotel. Furniture is very old as well. There was some mold and dirt in the bathroom. Breakfast had big selection but not very tasty. The breakfast room although nice was very hot and busy.
Review 12:The view from the balcony was very nice.
Review 13:Old rooms, timetravel back to the 70/80's. But still, it was clean.
Review 14:Great breakfast with amazing view. Frontdeskmanager came out and showed us where we could park our car for free. We arrived late. Extra service.
Review 15:Asked for handicap room did not get it. Paid for seaside comfortdeluxe.... mattress sitting on top of wood slats !!! Seating area in room,I kept sinking into chair, raised the cushion and they had duck taped the springs! Wall had water damage , crack in ceiling. Lady on check in was in a I do not care mood. Room curtains had holes in the black out backings so you could see little peeks. The 2 chairs sitting on the balconey were filthy. The balcony railing was rusted and you got the feeling of not being safe. So we could not utilize the balcony. Shower was behind bathroom door that did not open completely as the shower was there. You almost had to sit on toilet close door then stand and get in a shower. Being handicapped you can forget this!
Review 16:The location of the hotel is great and so is the view if you have a seaside room. Breakfast was great and so is the view from the panorama restaurant. Restaurant staff both on entry level and on the 9th floor were excellent.
Review 17:The beds were hard and with the windows open the noise level (even on the fifth floor) affected sleep.
Review 18:The pool and the evening meal (we had half-board for an extra 15 Euros). The view from the Breakfast Room.
Review 19:Floor in room was very scary. Water is for payment. Even on breakfast was impossible to find some drinking/non mineral water. It would be nice, if on each table would be standing a jar with tap-water.
Review 20:We liked Ruegen thermo, is definitely nice thing, and staff there is very friendly and nice. I liked also, that everything is adapted for older people (we are young couple, but I would recommend the place to my mom)
Review 21:Old TVs in rooms; work ok but need replacing. Car parking tight in season, use small street, also free, nearby.
Review 22:Great view from room balcony, amazing view from 9th floor Breakfast room, very good breakfast. very central. Very good value
Review 23:Too few parking spaces, so I had to park about 200 meters away from the hotel. Too far to walk if raining and stormy.
Review 24:Excellent breakfast and nice rooms.
Review 25:No Wifi, but it's free at Sport Bar across the road. Old TVs in rooms work ok but need replacing. Car parking tight in season, use new multistorey nearby or come by excellent modern trains. All NOT a problem.
Review 26:Great view from room balcony, amazing view from 9th floor Breakfast room, hotel recently refurbished and decorated to high standard, cleanliness, very good breakfast and half board dinner. Very good value
Review 27:nothing I did not like! Just that people should know that the sea, thogh very close, is far down, and only to be had via many steps or a long bridge- and OLD Sassnitz is a 10 minutes walk away
Review 28:the warm welcome! (the receptionist knew Berlin and what Berliners need when they come to the sea!) the view from the breakfast room is great, as is the nearby coast... the hotel itself is timetravelling Mitropa 1970- which I love!
Review 29:Nothing I did not dislike
Review 30:A very good hotel. Worth going just for the view from the 9th floor breakfast room. The food on offer, also very good. I'm planning to go back to the area next year and I will definitely be staying at this hotel again!
Review 31:The receptionist was unfriendly, mostly not at his desk (smoking outside), not sure if he spoke English, because he mostly ignored us (replied to my question about parking by scribbling on paper). The English in-room booklet is an illustration of how bad google translate used to be years ago. Overall, the hotel (and Sassnitz) reminded me of my communist childhood vacations in the 80s.
Review 32:If you decide to go for a vacation in Sassnitz, the location is good.
Review 33:We had to leave the room till 10.00 am. That's quite unusual.
Review 34:The location of the hotel is excellent. Also the place where you have the breakfast offers a beautiful landscape.
Review 35:There was no wi-fi available, which we have gotten used to having! Be sure to arrive early as the parking lot fills up.
Review 36:The location near the harbor and the Jasmund National Forest was convenient. The room was clean, and the bathroom was updated. There was parking on-site. The dining room where breakfast is served has a nice view of the harbor.
Review 37:That the roof restaurant was not available in the evening. Would be a great experience to have a sun set dinner there.
Review 38:Roof restaurant for breakfast (we were in a rush for ferry though).
Review 39:breakfast on 9th floor, continental breakfast with 'wurst und eier'
Review 40:Rude staff, the whole hotel looked like hadn't been renovated since 1930
Review 41:Pool was nice
Review 42:We stayed two nights. Both times we got a very nice room, and the staff was helpful.
Review 43:No WiFi
Review 44:Very good breakfast. Clean and comfort room.
Review 45:The receptionist was very curt
Review 46:The location and view from the breakfast room was perfect
Review 47:I will not pay an extra 5 Euro for Wifi 2015!
Review 48:The pool facilities.
Review 49:W-lan costs 4,90€ for 24 hours.
Review 50:Friendly People Hotel is near the train
Review 51:No wifi internet access
Review 52:The nice swimming pool
Review 53:Minus: no WiFi at the hotel and noisy with a room on the street.
Review 54:Plus: good beds, enjoyed pool/sauna
Review 55:breakfast wasn't really top, some of staff not over-friendly
Review 56:the view, the simplicity of hotel
Review 57:Missed chairs and table at the balcony.
Review 58:We had a room with balcony and seeview. Near to restaurants and shopping. Great breakfast.
Review 59:WiFi is not free.
Review 60:Perfect breakfast, free parking and swimming pool! The hotel is clean, its staff is ready to help.
Review 61:Very strange that there are no dark curtains in the bedroom. The minibar was not cold.
Review 62:The breakfast was fairly good
Review 63:Shower. Poor steem. Big minus :(
Review 64:Bed, pool
Review 65:the breakfast the view
Review 66:Everywhere was overheated. The breakfast room was like a sauna. Opening the windows and letting in the cold sea mist was not the answer. From the outside the building is an absolute eyesore - but not inside and we were of course inside looking out!
Review 67:Fantastic value for money. Price included good large indoor pool with great sea view, saunas and an excellent breakfast with a wide choice of food served in a restaurant with spectacular views. The hotel has had an update and refurb which works (rather than just looks good 'on the surface'). Small but adequate room, everything spotless and looking like it had just been painted.
Review 68:The view over the sea is fantastic. Great breakfast. Hotel restaurant also good off season. It is nice that they have kept the old DDR style and just renovated the bathrooms.
Review 69:Very unfriendly staff(Reception, Restaurant), Absolulety no English communication (Reception, Info, Restaurant, Menu, Signs and labels, Leaflets), Very poor car-parking possibilities (one small always-occupied parking, second parking place almost around the block (long distance - no shortcut), Room needed some renovations (broken power-socket, inoperatble bathroom light, historical tv of late 80's), Slow elevators (lot of waiting)
Review 70:Nice view from the restaurant on the 9th floor. Good breakfast selection.
Review 71:I left a Leatherman knife in the room. Called the receptionist about it from the ferry. She told me to come by on the way back and pick it up. When i came back a week later, I was told the knife was not found.
Review 72:Clean, accessible.
Review 73:Far to walk from parking. Not friendly staff. Not fresh, feeling from old communist time. Pay for wifi.
Review 74:Size of the room. View from breakfast room. Free parking
Review 75:Hotel requires renovation or at least fresh painting, as it's design is still like 70s or 80s - probably at that time it was one of the top hotels. In our room there was very old CRT TV (fortunatelly already in colour;-) ) Only rooms located on sea side are equipped with balconies.
Review 76:Location of this hotel is really amazing - it's the biggest building in Sassnitz. Panorama view to the sea from 9th floor, during breakfast is really beautiful. My wife didn't like some of the foods from breakfast (for example frankfurter sausages, smashed eggs with bacon and hams), but at least it was quite reach - few types of chease, several jams, salads, sausages, smashed eggs, different types of muesli.
Review 77:The building is a land mark from the DDR-time, typical for the late 1960-S. And it is not renovated to some modern design standards but reallylike it looked from the beginning. (The bath rooms are new, andeverything works well.) And the sea view from our room and from the topfloor breakfast restaurant is great. And the sign on a door next to thebar: Unbefugten ist der Zutritt nicht gestattet, could it be saidbetter? I Like it. It is Germany.
Review 78:Internet extra, only one free electrical socket in th room, far from the desk. No extension cable available at the desk. Not very computer-friendly in this day and age.
Review 79:It needs renovation, the rooms feels like the 1970:s, needs wireless internet and a better entrance to the pool-area. It was a long stairway which is not handicap or child friendly, and it was a long cold way to walk if you wanted to go there on the inside from/to the hotel. The webpage is misleading, it looks way better than it is.
Review 80:It was cheap, it was a nice pool, and an ok breakfast.
Review 81:Otherwise it is quite expensive for a 3 star hotel. The check out was at 10 AM so no chance to go to the pool unless you go there from 7 to 9 and then take the breakfast ( pool closes from 9 to 10 ). TV was like my grand ma's and only in the living room.
Review 82:Just the location and the view from the Terrasse are worth it.
Review 83:Our only weak point was the 'coolness' of the desk staff. [varies by person of course].
Review 84:The room itself. Wonderful breakfast buffet and room. Convenient to the town. Available and safe parking a short distance away.
Review 85:First impressions count and this was bad. The receptionist was surly, abrupt and unhelpful. The internet, which was slow, cost 6euro. It isabout time that modern hotels provided free internet.
Review 86:Good comfortable room.
Review 87:The restaurant's kitchen was closed at 9 P.M. And as we came toSassnitz at about 8 15 it was a problem to eat somewhere. Spa servicesdont work on Sundays. In the morning it was a jam near the lifts, asthere are only 2 and in there were too much people going to breakfastto 9th floor/
Review 88:Nice view form 9th floor, good breakfast. Friendly staff- expeciallywoman in the swimming pool area.
Review 89:It's hard to give fair answers to this query since we only stayed over night. But one thing I really liked was the very nice view from the top floor, where the breakfast was served.
Review 90:The hotel may need some renovation in coming years althoug it surelymeets expectation of their current customers (seniors!). (Therefore theradiators in the room were on in the end of June and we had to shut themdown and open the window, not very ecological)
Review 91:A nice place, we stayed only one night as we were heading towarsTrelleborg. Hotel was mainly occupied by senior citizen (nice people andthey don´ t make noise). Good beds but tv set dated back from ancienttimes (I was wacthing semifinals in football). Breakfast was served onupper floor with beautiful view to the see.
Review 92:in 3th floor on balcony we heart very much the ventilator in the roof of restaurant downstairs of welness centrum, not with close door, but better to have higher floor
Review 93:nice view to the port with submarine from balcony of room, super view from 9th floor from restaurant, very rich breakfast from 7till 10am,parking free in front of the hotel
Review 94:Room too small with too much furniture. Front desk unfriendly to thepoint of rudeness. My husband asked if he could have an addtl. Pillow,he suffers from gerd, and woman replied,"Impossible"
Review 95:9Th floor breakfast and view of harbor
Review 96:Both my friend and I were not particularly impressed with the food. The Zander dish had too much tomato sauce and the fish soup was not well integrated.
Review 97:A large parking lot is available at hotel next door (turn right at roundabout just before hotel) however in front of hotel there is limitedparking. I arrived at dinner time and the limited parking was full withrestaurant patrons. I knew there was "off site parking" available butdid not learn of its location until after checking in. I circled thenarrow streets finally parking about 500m away so I could checkin.Advanced notice of parking location would have been very helpful.
Review 98:Location is fantastic, adjacent to a nice walkway down to thewaterfront. Room had balcony overlooking waterfront and Baltic Sea. Thefree breakfast buffet was very good with lots of offerings. The viewfrom the top floor breakfast area is awesome. The room rate was evenbetter than expected. Even the mini-bar prices were much lower thanexperienced at almost every other hotel. The spa and pool areas are verynice but be aware there is a small rental fee on any towels used. Youcan bring your room towel but in my single room there was just onelarger towel and didn't want to use that for sitting in sauna.
Review 99:Restaurant meal disappointing: fish fillets overcooked and dry. More disappointing still was that the bar had only West German beers. This is happening increasingly in eastern Germany, where the tasty local brews seem to be getting crowded out. Even in Berlin, with its ancient brewing tradition, you can hardly get local beers.
Review 100:Single-room price for a genuine single room. Door opening on to vestigial balcony provided welcome ventilation to offset powerful central heating. Friendly service - although it helps if you speak German.
Review 101:breakfast was a bit chaotic
Review 102:Nearness to harbour views spa
Review 103:We liked the breakfast room in the top floor and the excellent tea selection.
Review 104:Our short stay
Review 105:The view of the Baltic Sea on the 9th Floor during Breakfast.
Review 106:Unpolite staff, especially in the restaurant.
Review 107:Seaside view
Review 108:no internet access
Review 109:The view from the breakfast room the pool
Review 110:Lack of parking places
Review 111:Good location, good food, wellness
Review 112:Unfriendly staff at the reception
Review 113:Saunas and a swimming pool + a good view from 9th floor when havingbreakfast.
Review 114:asked for sea view room - didn't get it without explain
Review 115:Indoor pool + sauna
Review 116:Internet should be free of charge. Parking facilities are poor.
Review 117:Delicious breakfast and very good food in the restaurant.
Review 118:Very good. And the best is the resturant Neptun!
Review 119:The reception staff were abrupt and unfriendly. The room was shabbyand basic.
Review 120:Right in the middle of town with great views
Review 121:Hotel staff was not very friendly
Review 122:Location, swimmingpool, breakfastroom
Review 123:Staff not very friendly
Review 124:The room was clean and tidy.
