Review 1:Nothing
Review 2:Lovely hotel in the centre of a beautiful village ,with the nicest innkeeper (Jimmy) you could ever wish to meet . And I might add we have stayed in a lot of hotels ,b&bs etc.
Review 3:No major dislikes. - Bathroom is tiny and one must prepare their own amenities. - unable to find English TV channel
Review 4:This historical building is in a perfect location. Easy to find once alighted from the bus. Christmas market is right in front of the property, 50m or less away. Owner is friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is giant with cold cuts, cheese, eggs and a variety of German bread rolls. Wifi signal is strong in this small town.
Review 5:The bathroom was fairly basic but more than adequate for a short stay. A small price to pay for everything else that was included.
Review 6:Just about everything about the hotel was perfect. The owner was especially helpful and very pleasant to deal with. The location is ideal for exploring the town/village and also the surrounding area.
Review 7:Though you are not overlooked and when we were there (early September), early morning light was not a problem, there were no curtains on the windows. You have to sit/stand in the bath and hold the shower head, there's no bracket on the wall. These really are VERY minor issues. Note, parking is located around the edges of the village, though this is true for ALL Monschau hotels. In September 2015 it was €7 for 24 hours,
Review 8:It's very central, owner and staff were friendly, a good breakfast is included, our room (top floor overlooking the centre of the village) was a good size and the beds were comfy, and there was plenty of hot water. There is no lift but the owner offered to carry our bag up the three flights of stairs.
Review 9:Equipment of the bathroom is somewhat aged. No WIFI on the room
Review 10:Nice hotel in the middle of the ancient city. Very helpful staff and a superb breakfast
Review 11:No tea or coffee facilities. Wifi don't always connect. German style breakfast. Can't eat meat and cheese that time of morning! No cereal or yoghurt on offer.
Review 12:Liked the location.
Review 13:A bit narrow and step stairs, but what can you expect in such an old and charming building?
Review 14:A very nice traditional place right in the centre of Monschau. Very good beakfast with plentry of choices. And the dog was allowed at the breakfast!
Review 15:Parking can be difficult as it is 200 yards away and we did have variousstuff in the car but host assured us it was safe and so it wasI DO NOT LIKE GLASS DOORS FOR TOILET EN SUITE - WHY ?????
Review 16:Host very friendly and helpful as we arrived late due to brakedown, brilliant breakfast
Review 17:Rooms are a really old. Beds are very old (wooden bord as bottom) and to small for 2 pers., bathroom hygienic but really small! Thin walls; when neighbors are awake ... you are too. Only reception when you arrive.
Review 18:1 pers. a room, 50€. The old building is nice, breakfast room has something of on old train carriage. Basic (nee negative points) but in fact ok.
Review 19:The owner wagged his finger at us as we arrived late for check-in - we realized afterwards that we had omitted to read the small print. But once he got over us being late, he was very nice!
Review 20:clean room, perfect location, amazing huge German breakfast
Review 21:Room decor is very old and needs to be updated. Mattresses are old and wore out. Back was sore and had trouble sleeping comfortably.
Review 22:The breakfast was excellent
Review 23:Lovely place with welcoming owners. A hotel very much of its place and time in the picture-box beautiful small town of Monschau. Good rooms, good breakfasts, easy to come and go in this friendly hotel. Most accommodating and helpful owners & hotel staff. Its central position in the town is just great -out of the door and your immediately amongst a variety of cafes, restaurants, tourist shops and all that MOnschau has to offer! Excellent value. Highly recommended.
Review 24:The 7 am church bells go on for about 15 mins. The stairs to floors 2&3 are either huge fun or a nightmare depending on your health and fitness. We loved them. Monschau in general has the Germanic surliness in bars and restaurants typical of the area obviously with exceptions. Enjoy the special aspects of the place, and then go to Austria for some smiles.
Review 25:The proprietor, Jimmy, was terrific. Fun, helpful, good English, enthusiastic. Our sort of chap. Great breakfast. Don't be alarmed if you are there before the appointed start time, it all arrives a bit later!
Review 26:The main thing was a bad smell in the bathroom caused by mould around the bath tiles and shower curtain.
Review 27:Location is right in centre of this beautiful town. The dining and bar area is nice and charming
Review 28:Location in the centre of town, spacious room, bathtub, traditional interior decorating, breakfast with fresh juice, rolls, croissants, egg, meats, cheeses and sweet toppings.
Review 29:Lack of caarparking
Review 30:A vary interesting stay even in the rain. It would help if it was made clear on booking that steep and fairly dangerous steps have to be negotiaited to reach the fornt door - this is a charcteristic of the whole town so is no complaint pf this hotel garni..
Review 31:Peter went out of his way to make us comfortable. We arrived very late in the evening and he us welcomed upon our arrival. The rooms are simple and clean. Being in the center of town, it was extremely peaceful and you could hear the stream below, when the windows were open. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful. My daughter has celiac's disease and he special ordered a bread from another town, just for her. We would definitely recommend this place and would stay there again. Thank you Peter!!
Review 32:Central location in the town - very authentic place with friendly staff. The breakfast was plentiful and very fresh (excellent bread and croissants).
Review 33:friendly staff
Review 34:very friendly reception, excellent breakfadt
Review 35:Owner was very friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Centrally located.
Review 36:The owner is very friendly and helpful, have stayed in the Hotel many times and will re book.

Review 48:Bed.
Review 49:Location. Cozy. Wifi. TV channels.
Review 50:Perfect location and a very helpful and friendly host. Ideal for exploring the area.
Review 51:nothing
Review 52:Excellent location, in the centre of this lovely old town. The hotel is a fifteenth century house, perfectly in keeping with the setting.
Review 53:Shower
Review 54:Location
Review 55:we found very helpful
Review 56:Very warm and friendly welcome. Very central - perfect for visiting the city and Klassik Festival
Review 57:There is always a negative point, but not a thing worthly to mention.
Review 58:It was great. Good breakfast, good bed, it was a clean room.
Review 59:Great location in centre of town and brilliant hospitality
Review 60:Third floor without a lift and uncomfortable stairs
Review 61:The manager who made special efort to serve us the hospitality Good location in the town The large room
Review 62:the building is very old (former bishops residence from 1630), that means the bathroom and the bedroom furniture is a bit oldfashion. Some people might like it, I would prefere more modernity. There is no lift, so you will have to climb the stairs with your luggage.
Review 63:excellent location in the middle of the town, confortable bed, good service (the people working there are very helpful), very nice breakfast - variety of cheese, ham, different types of breads.
Review 64:This was the worst choice of hotel I ever made. On entering this hotel, the first thing that hits you is the smell of a room in which someone has chain-smoked for years and is still doing so all day long. This room is where we are supposed to eat breakfast next morning. The bedroom was cheap lino floor with worn rug and old beds. Loo and shower very small and old fashioned. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel. Shame on you to represent a hotel like this.
Review 65:was told not to watch youtube videos because i will get a horrendous charge as all traffic goes through 3G, and is terribly expensive. ended up using my phone internet instead.
Review 66:location is great, right in the center of monschau, the room had older furniture but was comfortable, the staff was quite friendly
Review 67:An information sheet in room giving times of breakfast and Wi Fi details would have been useful.
Review 68:Friendly welcome, breakfast excellent. Perfect location for visiting the Christmas Market.
Review 69:it is not an expensive hotel so that has to be taken into account. However, the double room turned out to be a twin room and the shower water was luke warm. If the owner changed the floors of his hotel bedrooms he could improve the look (plastic floors) as his furniture is fine. We didn't mind the stairs (no lift). Nothing specially awful about the hotel but I would not return.
Review 70:the location
Review 71:Nothing to report on the hotel but be warned that the churches inMonschau enjoy bell ringing every morning at 6am.
Review 72:Old style German hotel in immaculate condition. Very well maintained andin keeping with the old town architecture. Very friendly and helpfulstaff. Breakfast very good and they even suggested we take a pack lunchaway with us. Ideal location right in the center of the village.
Review 73:The interior is a little bit outdated, but the hotel is really good money for value.
Review 74:Really friendly staff. They can help you out with hiking tips in the Eiffel. Good beds, clean rooms. Excellent breakfasts!
Review 75:We liked it all.
Review 76:Perfect spot within the city, awesome breakfast with plenty of choice, rooms, comfortable and sufficient, dressed up nicely to fitmthe hotel's age and city vibe, without compromising comfort. Good value for money. Ask the owner anything you desire and he will try to think along. Great spot, if I plan to go back to Monschau I would like to stay here again.
Review 77:Lots of stairs!
Review 78:Great value in a gem of a location. The 17th century building is cofortable and clean. An excellent breakfast and a great host. Thank you we will be back!
Review 79:The hotel was well located and the owner Peter was very friendly and most helpful. He spoke very good English which helped us as we don't speak much German. The rooms are pretty basic but very clean which is most important, the beds are very comfortable, the continental breakfast of meats, cheeses and bread was really good and fresh. So if you are looking for good cheap accomodation in a good location then we recommend staying here and we ourselves will definately stay here the next time we visit Monschau.
Review 80:A lovely old-fashioned hotel in a perfect location in the center of Monschau, lovely comfortable room and all you hear at night is the sound of the river nearby.
Review 81:very friendly run small family hotel. No evening dinner available but many bars / restaurants in a short walk. Old traditional quircky building with a very clean presentation and friendly owner.
Review 82:WI-fi information not given, could have requested it but moving on shortly. No dinners available so went to Altstadt Post instead for the most sublime sauerbraten ever!
Review 83:Central location
Review 84:Absolutely nothing. Rare to find a hotel that ticks all the boxes. This one did.
Review 85:Jimmy, the owner was splendid. He fed us like kings and treated us like family. I don't remember a more friendly host.
Review 86:The building is old, which is part of the charm, of course. This meansthe bathrooms aren't as luxurious and modern as in hotel chains. There's no elevator either, and the stairs are steep andnarrow—something to take into consideration when traveling with olderpeople or those who have difficulty climbing stairs.
Review 87:The innkeeper is extremely helpful and nice, and even drove us to trailshe recommended that were a bit far (as well as to Aachen to catch ourtrain leaving!). The Burg Hotel is a charming old-style inn; if you wantto stay in a house like the ones you see on postcards of Monschau, thisis the place. Also serves a fantastic German breakfast that leavesnothing to be desired—enough to make a lunch for picnics.
Review 88:The hotel manager was very helpful and was able to offer parking for our two motorcycles just over the road from the hotel. The hotel is in the heart of this beautiful and historic town and we intend returning for the Christmas markets.
Review 89:Beautiful location. The hotel had a lot of charm and a very helpful and friendly proprietor. Thankyou for a lovely stay and the gorgeous breakfasts each morning.
Review 90:Hot water supply to room basin poor (shower was fine though), and lack of parking a slight problem though common to all the town centre's hotels
Review 91:Very warm welcome, hotelier very helpful, friendly staff, very interesting historic building well placed in centre of town, super breakfast. This is not a 4-star hotel and much the better for it, but what it does it does very well.
Review 92:Hot water could have been more abundant. No parking.
Review 93:Good location for Monschau - the village pub/Kneipe and restaurants are nearby. Charming, old fashioned style of hotel. Good breakfast kept us going for hours. Proprietor was forthcoming with advice.
Review 94:The decor was very tired and our rooms were a bit dark and old fashioned.
Review 95:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was generous and tasty. The hotel was perfectly located for central Monschau.
Review 96:The most friendly welcoming host I could ever wish for, made us feel welcome and special. Beautiful building, warm clean rooms. Very helpful and went out of their way to make our visit easy and trouble free, helped personally with transportation transfers
Review 97:You feel that you stay in the heart of this historical village.
Review 98:I liked the very rich breakfast and the host's friendly welcome.
Review 99:Very pleasant stay in a beautiful old city.
Review 100:Not baby friendly if you are bringing stroller because there are many steps. No lift.
Review 101:Good location & friendly hotel owner (Peter).
Review 102:Nothing.
Review 103:Right in centre of Monschau.
Review 104:Everything
Review 105:Difficult access and parking not comfortable for elder people because of staircase access to rooms
Review 106:location and friendly service
