Reviews for Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort
Review 1:* The Resorts Cashless System in place * The ridiculous prices all round
Review 2:* The friendly UNDER paid smiling Staff * The ever appreciative Village Children
Review 3:Some staff were rude, mostly at restaurants, everything extremely expensive, twice the price at same shop outside of resort. Need to book at empty restaurant...??? Booked day spa for partners birthday over a month in advance and received email confirmation. Arrive at spa desk as advised and no booking. We did receive a discount for the next day but pretty disappointed as this was a bday surprise.
Review 4:Very relaxing...
Review 5:Cleanliness of rooms was poor. The attitude of staff was rude. Price ofeveryday items ($20 for a packet of maltesers) were made to feelunwelcome. Refused entry into restaurants because we didn't have abooking even though there was 20 free tables. The buffet was constantlyout of food. I could go on forever
Review 6:Food and activities
Review 7:The staff are gorgeous and nothing is too much trouble. The butler dropping off champagne and canapés each afternoon was a lovely surprise. Beautiful surroundings are a bonus. Loved the adults only pool.
Review 8:Meal at the adult pool was inedible, buffet breaky was not very nice either. Pizzas at sundowner were very nice but one of two mornings of breakfasts at sundowner was also poor. My partner and I got the same meal and his had toast and mine did not, when I asked for some as It was missing they charged us for it.
Review 9:Nice facilities and a lot to do. Pricey at times. Relaxing and nice cocktails
Review 10:Too far from the airport, seaport, swimming mostly in a pool, food is average at a very high price
Review 11:Excellent accommodation, gardens, friendly staff, good weather, excellent to celebrate our wedding anniversary
Review 12:Found their In room breakfast service is not culture sensitive. We do not eat beef n pork. the kitchen would not substitute something else for bacon or beef sausages despite us Paying the full bill.
Review 13:The room view was great. Clean rooms.
Review 14:Housekeeping barged into my room one day while I was sleeping even though I had the do not disturb on the door
Review 15:Beautiful grounds. Great pools. Great cocktails. Amazing location for a wedding
Review 16:They overbooked our room so for the last night 5 of us were moved into a tiny apartment with only 1 bedroom. Food and beverages very expensive especially when the service was slow and specifics of items ordered would be forgot. On the last day my wife and child got a gastro virus. The place ride home was hell.
Review 17:Location was perfect and plenty of activities to do
Review 18:The room was never vaccumed or sweeped.every thing was extremely overpriced. I was charge for drinks that wernt mine. You sign for a drinkfrom bar to your room and any extras just get added to bill so you payfor how many they add to your bill. You should have to sign each timeyou ask for a drink. Was also charged at cafe onto my bill after I paidin cash. Told me they would check cameras but they wouldn't show methe cameras..... Added on a sneaky hospital charge which I think is rudejust to add it onto the bill. For $350 per night it wasn't a 5 star.Hotels surrounding are much cheaper and include all meals and drinks.Beware bcse to eat here and drink just for a week will cost you well andTruley over $1000 and that's just for breakfast and drinks.beware ofbar fridge to. Also got ripped with a bottle of water. Tried to say Iopened it but it was never opened, the water wasn't quiet filledright to the top by half a centre metre and they Charged me. I took thebottle and I opened it and The plastic clicked so it was never opened inthe first place. Prob a usual trick to charge people. I had boughtlitres of water to avoid this. Would not stay here again!!
Review 19:I liked the ocean view and kids club.
Review 20:Some rowdy guests, not always controlled, also guests were let guests into the Ivi restaurant who did not adhere to the 'strict dress code'. Food and service was poor in the Sundowner restaurant and there was a lot of queuing for hot food at breakfast. 5% of staff needed to be trained in customer service, e.g. not bringing things when asked (sometimes more than once); almost throwing plates on the table. A lovely holiday with good facilities overall, but the stay was well overpriced. A Fijian 5* perhaps, but not an international 5*.
Review 21:Very clean with well kept grounds and beautiful bures. 95% staff were excellent and very good child care and facilities were available. Great butler service. The food in some restaurants was extremely good.
Review 22:Place was dated especially bathroom and didn't like the tidal coral beach
Review 23:I liked the large room and the green gardens and wedding venue and spa was great
Review 24:A very unpleasant odour in the bathroom/toilet. The room could have done with a good clean. Air conditioner did it's own thing regardless of adjusting controls. Over priced !
Review 25:The staff were very friendly. The grounds were well maintained. Plenty of hot water.
Review 26:not enough area to sit under cover especially when its raining...at times sat in room. Also would like more description on food labels....eg Gluten Free.
Review 27:relaxing, nice pool, friendly people.
Review 28:Location was a bit isolated and it took an hour and 15 mins to get to and from airport 53 km away. The account on the guest page on TV conflicted with hard copy of account. Couldnt pay for food and beverages with cash. Ask for copy of all receipts when booking to your room.
Review 29:Liked the family friendly atmosphere. Friendliness of staff and that there were adult only restaurants and pool area when adults needed time out and kids were well cared for by nannies.
Review 30:The food was overpriced.
Review 31:The wedding organisers and all those involved in the setting up of functions after the marriage ceremony. Teamwork was most impressive!
Review 32:Travel distance from the airport quite a way and transport not so good. it was alittle expensive for the type of resort. not a lot to do for adults
Review 33:Staff were very friendly, rooms comfortable
Review 34:Resort is getting a bit worn around the edges. Needs some money spent on it. Food prices were reasonable enough for a resort, but alcohol was very expensive - nearly $F100 for a bottle of Lindhauer sparkling wine from NZ, which is often on special in NZ stores for $NZ8.99 (about $F11). Taxes might be high, but that's ridiculous, especially when the Bedarra Inn, 10 minutes walk away, has cheap Australian wines for $F25, perhaps twice the price of an Australian store. You are very captive here, unlike at Denarau where a mass of restaurants/bars at the marina gives choice at reasonable.prices. The other big problem at Outrigger is that it's a $F110-plus transfer each way.
Review 35:Great bed and pillows. Good facilities (free use of snorkel gear, canoes etc) and nice grounds. Terrific staff.
Review 36:if I have to say something the price of some of the food was a little expensive
Review 37:everything was perfect, the stay was relaxing and memorable and the staff were friendly, enthusiastic and very attentive to all our needs, Nothing was ever too much.
Review 38:Lot of confusion in charges even after explanation, was still charged for buffet breakfast but package included 2 free breakfast.
Review 39:Staff was excellent. Food was very good, loved the buffet breakfast.
Review 40:The Resort was isolated and was very expensive for food and drinks. The beds and pillows were quite firm and as a result did not feel rested enough. The quality of products for the bathroom could have been better for a 5 star resort. If we were not travelling with our son and his family we would have definitely stayed somewhere else.
Review 41:The views from the unit and the tropical layout of the Resort.
Review 42:Some elements of the resort are a tad expensive (some meals, spa facilities), but there are local alternatives worth trying out while staying at the resort. Wifi isn't free, but won't break the bank either.
Review 43:The staff at the Outrigger made our stay very memorable. This is the 2nd time we've stayed here and they have made us (and others we've recommended the resort to) feel extremely welcome each time. The restaurant staff remembered us by name; our room butler (yes, that's right) went above and beyond, and the management (especially Jack) were amazing. The lovely beach setting and views from the top of resort are brilliant, and the pool and bar facilities are excellent.
Review 44:There's no real breakfast alternative if you don't want to have the buffet. The only a la carte restaurant open in the morning is adults only for breakfast, and while you can get coffee in the little cafe, unless you want a slice of cake there is nothing much to eat. Some croissants, bananas or just a slice of toast to go with the coffee would be excellent for those days you don't have a hearty appetite first thing.
Review 45:The staff, the staff, and then the staff: everyone was extremely friendly and very happy to see and smile at our baby (which delighted him, and thereby us!).
Review 46:Helpful would have been someone in the lobby dedicated to explaining the layout and run of the resort for us newbies
Review 47:Majority of the staff were helpful and friendly
Review 48:The staff is really friendly, welcoming and ready to help you and suggest you where to go, what to do and how to enjoy your time with them. They organise activities during the day to keep you busy while relaxing at the same time. The location is perfect for exploring Fiji and its beautiful landscape. Natadola beach is just 20 mins away and it is the best beaches on the coral coast, a must visit!!!The spa is located on the top of a hill and is spot on!
Review 49:None that I can think of. I would say though, at night when you're walking around the Resort, there needs to be more path lighting as you struggle a little to find your way. Maybe even little solar indicators to show which way to your room. The signs are there in the day, but they should be illuminated at night, especially for the elderly and young kids.
Review 50:The Resort was just wonderful, staff always friendly. We were there for my Nephews wedding, and it was just wonderful. The tour booking desk staff were really good too, lots of recommendations and information.
Review 51:From start to finish everything was perfect. The staff were truly amazing people and went above and beyond. They made so many surprises for my wife's birthday which was wonderful. Facilities were excellent and food amazing. Prices were what you would expect to pay so that was fine. Excellent cleanliness, the adult pool was amazing. Will be back and Outriggers as a whole was fantastic. Enjoy everyone!!
Review 52:We didn't have our meals included so it was quite an expense for food for our week. It wasn't until our 3rd day there that they said the kids eat free, but we have a teenage daughter, so the meals for 3 added up.
Review 53:The facilities, the snorkelling, the spa. So many activities everyday and the gym is great!
Review 54:This would have been good if you had a family as it is very child friendly as 90% of the guests are families so as a couple we felt like the odd ones out.
Review 55:Staff were lovely 4 restaurants to choose from Dive shop on site Adult only pool
Review 56:The rooms are too expensive when you consider that you have to pay formost other things like food and drinks. No kitchen facilities other thana kettle. The cost of drinks and such come to about the same price asthe accommodation. We had a dirty-water problem - by the time it was discovered I some water had been used to launder sheets and that meant that there was sand in the bed sheets for most of our stay. Your mobile phone has enough EM leakage to wipe your room's access card. We had to re-image our card about 6 times. Messages left at reception weren't passed on automatically to us.
Review 57:Lovely location, friendly staff, great weather in June, some freeentertainment
Review 58:Everything. As a mature couple we enjoyed having the adult pool facility. There were lots of screaming children having fun, and it was good to get away from that noise (you can't blame the kids tho - it was a wonderful place for them too!)
Review 59:Quite far way away from airport- about 1.5 hours. No kids eat free package but did have kids prices. Did have a 15 year old child with us and they were too old for kids menu and had to have adult menu/prices which was costly. Also had to have 2 hotel rooms as couldn't cater for 5 people in one room.
Review 60:There were so many facilities and so many activities for the kids and adults too. Many activities were free which was great. So much to do and yet so relaxing. Went at a peak period- Easter school holidays, yet we didn't notice hundreds of people despite hotel being fully booked. Would recommend to all. Will return again
Review 61:We were there as a group for a wedding. Buffet meals (louvo and wedding breakfast) were ordinary.
Review 62:relaxing atmosphere, restaurants served good food for individual meals. Reasonably priced
Review 63:I would suggest not to prepay breakfast as we found that it was cheaper to pay when you are there
Review 64:everything was great the staff were so polite ad friendly
Review 65:Everything is really expensive. A standard lunch will cost you $100. location is a bit far from port denaru where most of the tours are located...
Review 66:Excellent staff, everyone is really friendly
Review 67:Once you're there you can't really just pop out for dinner and they take full advantage of this with their prices.
Review 68:Food was very good. Adults only pool was the highlight
Review 69:We arrived early - 3 hours before check-in and were given a bure straight away which was great, but if we had waited for our original booking it would have been in a better location. Only realised this afterwards. This is more my fault than anyone's though, I should have checked and made the decision to check-in earlier or wait for better located bure.
Review 70:Enjoyed the ambience of the whole place because the staff were relaxed and friendly. With some inside information from some fellow visitors who'd attended a VIP evening they told us that the staff are very well cared for and the manager treats everyone very well. And that positivity flows down through all the staff.
Review 71:- Not many cheaper food options close to resort - quite far away from Islands etc - Paid Internet (WiFi) was poor - slow and not reliable.
Review 72:++ Nanny Service exceptional - used twice - very professional +New Years Show - Dinner and Show simply excellent +Food was all excellent + Resort is very large and nice
Review 73:Food and drinks are exceptionally expensive for what you get. Service was inconsistent at times. WiFi didnt work in our Bure.
Review 74:Excellent and friendly staff. A good variety of food options & free activities. Adult pool area was superb!
Review 75:Initial response to aircon in room not working, took about 7 hours to resolve which meant relocating to another room.
Review 76:Location by the sea Privacy Friendly staff Butler service
Review 77:Ivy restuarant - poor service, poor food, ad lighting. Cashless resort but they do not give you a copy of your receipt at the time of purchase so you can't check.
Review 78:Adult Pool
Review 79:A long way from other resorts or facilities Expensive for food and drinks Resort looking old but still reasonable for tropics
Review 80:Reasonably comfortable overall Is OK for families with small kids Staff super friendly very relaxing for doing nothing
Review 81:Food was disappointing. The major restaurant had received rave reviews, but perhaps it was under a different chef. An exception was the fish marinated in coconut milk, which was delicious. Menu choices were very limited. I ordered lamb chops cooked rare and they were not. Also, between 4 and 6 pm there was only room service to speak of and many folks need to leave by 6:30 to make evening flights.
Review 82:property and pools were lovely. Staff was gracious.
Review 83:The Distance from the Airport, roughly an hour and 20 mins?
Review 84:Everything about this resort is amazing, the staff are extremely helpful the grounds and all the facilities are immaculate. There isn't anything the staff wouldn't do to make your stay enjoyable Okay food and drinks are a little pricey but you pay for what you get and it hasn't put me off returning I am already searching for flights The Talai service is fabulous and Mangiti night was my Favourite by a country mile, TOTALLY Loved the whole experience at the Outrigger!!!
Review 85:the food was average a couple of times
Review 86:the staff were really helpful The view was amazing The hotel grounds were immaculate The adult pool was a haven!
Review 87:Cashless resort to a bit to get use to, the bill at the end wasn't too bad. Just keep tabs on what you spend so you don't get a shock at the end of the holiday.
Review 88:The staff are very friendly and willing to help. Accommodation was great and comfortable. We went for a wedding and it was beautiful surroundings. Had a great trip.
Review 89:meal prices and that on more one occasion we were made to wait an hour for a reservation when it became obvious the restaurant had vacancies during this period
Review 90:friendly and helpful staff
Review 91:happy hour should be all bars. And not enough selections and reduction in pricing, for beers ,wines. sprits .It would stop a lot of customers going to other bars outside the hotel. Some food dishes a bit expensive in your rest's.
Review 92:adults pool, views, service by staff 2nd to none ,grounds, gardens. Plus the food was excellent tasting and in presentation, if a little expensive.
Review 93:While I appreciate it was big hotel with many guests, the service seemed to a little slow all around
Review 94:All amenities available albeit at a slightly inflated cost, and a good schedule of activities for the not too sunny days
Review 95:Our holiday was ruined when we, parents and a 16yr old, were thrown out of the adults pool area because she was too young, even though we had to pay adult fees for her stay. It was a wet day and there was only a couple of people there and she was sitting quietly reading. We were very upset but were made to wait 45 minutes to see the manager!! He wasn't interested in speaking to us so I left the hotel in tears. I therefore could not recommend the outrigger hotel for anyone with older kids.
Review 96:Nothing....
Review 97:The fijian staff are beautiful people inside and out. Great facilities, absolutely immaculate gardens, restaurant/bar staff attentive, lovely Talai butler service. Staying in a bure with hammock was wonderful and peaceful. Even though resort was nearly full it never felt that way at all.
Review 98:Reception staff were a little slow, made some mistakes on our bill and they corrected it quickly.
Review 99:The friendly staff, the rooms with the views. Guest laundry room was much appreciated!
Review 100:Prices of food and drinks are way to expensive considering how much money the staff get paid, also the staff got a bit annoying in the end as they were always hounding you to buy more and spend more.
Review 101:Overall a beautiful resort, great restaurants and adults pool, great rooms.
Review 102:Just that everything was cashless, just little things that the kids would want and sometimes its easier just to give them cash to give but I guess it is understandable with the size of the resort. The deposit for each room when our booking did not state that a deposit had to be made.
Review 103:The outstanding service from the staff. your first point of entry with the guard at the boom gate, the entrance of the resort, the receptionist, our butler, grounds staff, bar and restaurant staff. The many activities they had daily not just for the kids but adults also. The great buffets. The buggys or golf carts which made it easy access especially if you had little ones or elderly parents.
Review 104:Some things to watch out for, and purely a management issue: For foreign travelers, the resort charges a 2-3% charge for using foreign credit cards. I was shocked that a 5-star resort won't cover that cost for guests, especially for foreign guests. Granted that it wasn't a lot of money, but its the principle. Also, the food was obviously over-priced, but tasted good so I guess its OK.
Review 105:Our stay here was great. The resort staff were super friendly and the chefs on site cooked really good food. I'd highly recommend this resort for couples.
Review 106:I was very surprised at the prices of food and drinks, food was roughly the same as Australian prices and drinks were more expensive than AUD prices!
Review 107:The resort was amazing, if you have the money to spend and are looking for somewhere to really relax, this is the place! It's great for all types of people and especially weddings! It was just beautiful.
Review 108:There was nothing we didn't like. The only negative is the food and drinks were expensive but that is the same at every resort so you have to expect that.
Review 109:The Ocean Breeze Bure's were lovely, better than staying in a hotel room. We were next to the pool, restaurants and beach. The staff were lovely and my 15 year old son could not believe what friendly nice people the Fijians were compared to anywhere else I'm the world he had been. The resort is very traditional Fiji and very friendly, we all loved our stay and would go back again.
Review 110:The pull out sofa for our two kids was terrible. It sank in the middle, and the springs were so bad we out an extra duvet to soften it The wind every day was disappointing making the beach unpleasant The lAck of snorkelling at low tide The ponies on the beach, smelt bad, not looked after, no good
Review 111:All the staff The Talai was amazing The sundowner tapas The staff at the sundowner were absolutely amazing, jerry and musake and their staff The pool The facilities The shop in the complex
Review 112:Having to leave!
Review 113:All the staff at the Outrigger were amazing, always happy and friendly - the service was the best I've experienced in a hotel. The food in all restaurants could not be faulted, I'd highly recommend Ivi. The Mei Mei (Nanny for children under 3) service was fantastic, they were accommodating and flexible with timings and always happy to help. My son was really unwell and they have a doctor on site daily - who was fantastic and put us at ease. They really have thought of everything at this hotel! There were lots of activities arranged for all ages - so always something to do, even when it rains! The Bebe spa and treatments were amazing - and the views are breath-taking! I would highly recommend this hotel to families in particular but they have catered for adults without children - they have a child-free swimming pool and restuarants
Review 114:Some bures are very noisy near amenities like the kitchen exhausts or pump rooms and many things other hotels give for free are a surcharge like a 1 hr later checkout or a 3% surcharge for anything other than cash.
Review 115:Bures are spacious and staff bend over backwards for you. Snorkeling and kayaks over the reef at high tide are a lovely extra. The two pools are very nice with lots of space. Overall extremely relaxing.
Review 116:Too isolated, it is too far away from any other attractions, and particularly the airport. Outside of the resort there is nothing much else to do. The poor lighting in the room was unsatisfactory, especially in the bathroom. It was near on impossible for a woman to see to put make up on.
Review 117:The facilities inside the resort were very nice, and there is a nice choice of restaurants, plus the food was very good. The adults only pool and general area is a very good idea. The room was spacious, although a little too far away from the beach. The Talai Butler champers and nibbles at 5pm every day was great.
Review 118:Drinks very expensive. Need a games room or something for teenagers - they are not catered for.
Review 119:A really beautiful resort and snorkelling was very good at high tide.
Review 120:Ten days is too long to spend in a resort! It is designed to keep you there eating and drinking. Koko's along the beach has great food at half the price and is good for a change. Be good if they had an outlet for healthy take-away food so you could do your own picnic especially if using a rental car.
Review 121:Staff were outstanding and the resort was immaculate with all the facilities expected. Very family oriented but rooms are quiet and well appointed.
Review 122:Beach was unusable...closed two of our 3 days there and not very usable on the third. Water is not very clear either. We ended up hanging out at the adult pool (which could be done in Florida). We were so surprised that Fiji is like a 3rd world country, yet the prices are so high ($300 per night per room with all of the taxes). Sigatoka is good for a few simple groceries...no decent restaurants or shopping.
Review 123:The Staff was very friendly and nice. Our waiter, Epi, was great! I really liked all the music going on at the resort as well.
Review 124:Tv/in room entertainment needs work. Wi-Fi should be free (learn from Australia's mistakes). Needs a cinema and more adult friendly areas.
Review 125:The staff/service - second to none. Fijians are a lovely people. The location - absolutely stunning. Photos don't do it justice. Activities available and restaurants. Rooms were excellent. Adult pool was excellent.
Review 126:Over priced and staff mostly not that happy but are friendly honest people
Review 127:Daily activities in resort. Family friendly resort.
Review 128:Too expensive for food. Food not good. Beach not swimable.
Review 129:Staff are friendly
Review 130:Poor beach Cocktails not brilliant for price
Review 131:Wonderful sunsets and bar to watch them from Butler with champagne daily
Review 132:Overpriced. .shocking customer service
Review 133:Mexican set menu on Christmas Eve was sub standard.
Review 134:Great property for small baby.
Review 135:Check in staff could be a little more friendly.
Review 136:Prob one of the best family resorts in Fiji.
Review 137:Couldn't order of the kids menu.
Review 138:The new adults only pool. Staff.
Review 139:Surcharges added on every purchase made at a "cashless" resort.
Review 140:The staff are amazing
Review 141:The pool and staff
Review 142:Pure paradise
