Reviews for Hotel Meran Hallenbad & Sauna
Review 1:This building has not been renovated for at least 20 years. Everything is clean but horribly old-fashioned. My son did not want to go to the swimming pool at all though this was why I booked this hotel.
Review 2:The breakfast is good.
Review 3:The hotel was visibly old, with old furniture, lift, floors.
Review 4:Pool, sauna, nice staff, good breakfast (if you come early), location close to the center, I liked the style.
Review 5:The only negative thing I would say is that Monday and Tuesday the breakfast is on the short side, if you come on the late side there is not much there, they probably haven't had time to stock up as grocery stores in Germany close on Sunday. Bathrooms are also on the small side.
Review 6:I chose this hotel because it was five short blocks from my son's apartment and we were visiting him. So, for us, it was an excellent location. We stayed about two weeks. Staff was helpful with taxis, extending our reservation, requests for extra bedding in the room. It is a typical small German hotel. The excellent thing is that it has a quite large, heated, swimming pool which I used every day. Also, the breakfast is quite good. Tram is only a couple of blocks away.
Review 7:At the time I was there I could feel that people was always smoking inside their rooms. This was really unpleasant.
Review 8:The location next to train station, food market and restaurants
Review 9:Awful location....warm so window open during night....loud noise entire night...firecrackers, fights, ambulance, shouting ...Brixton riots would have made less noise. not hotels fault by very noisy throughout night!
Review 10:Nice pool and great breakfast
Review 11:Paid Parking. though it was free from 8PM to 8 AM the following day.
Review 12:The ease of checking in. Great location with access to eating places, and even a Patrol station. Rather quaint old type lift but functional. Swimming pool . Quite a nice food spread at breakfast and pleasant lady.
Review 13:We booked and paid for a double room but we were given a twin. We didn't complain as we thought it was good value for money
Review 14:Friendly staff, clean hotel and good value. Just a 10 minute walk to the town centre
Review 15:Easy to find hotel with parking beside. The Reception Manager, Michael, is very nice and helpful. It's a nice stroll into town, about 20 minutes by the river Saar. Our room, for the second year running, was huge and very comfortable. The breakfast is very good including local cheeses, very nice.
Review 16:The bed / mattress was not so good. The lady at the breakfast had a surly face and was not kind. I don't mind a lot but it would have been nicer with a friendly face at the breakfast. On the other side, the reception stuff was very kind and helpful.
Review 17:Good location, great breakfast, nice swimming pool. Room and the bathroom very clean!
Review 19:the hotel was too hot. window kept open all night.
Review 20:good directions to the beer garden, very clean hotel and well looked after. use of pool and sauna was great too.
Review 21:No air con! Which on hottest day of year with evening temperature of 38c was no joke. We hardly slept. Think hotel could invest in some electric fans!
Review 22:Good position close to market dining quarter. Pleasant quiet room on high floor. Decent breakfast
Review 23:It was so warm that friday-night, that I had to open the window. However in the street there was a lot of noise from 12 until 4.00 a.m..
Review 24:The breakfast was marvelouss, even better than in most top-hotels.
Review 25:Wifi was pretty terrible, and paying for parking a little hassle.
Review 26:HUGE room, nice pool and sauna facilities, pretty nice location for a one-night stay. Buffet breakfast was incredible.
Review 27:Elevator was a little small
Review 28:Room was huge, linens were clean and bright white, cute little sheep packets of gummy candies on each pillow. Very personal touch for a good size hotel
Review 29:Wish they had own packing space, but there are moments when packing is free . rather old but functioning Lift.
Review 30:Lovely hotel and good staff. Breakfast was nice with a very cheery staff taking care. And our room was large. Thanks
Review 31:The soundproofing was really bad and sometimes our room smelled like someone was smoking cigarettes. The rooms would need some renovating and updating.
Review 32:The breakfast was surprisingly good (included in the price) and the staff was really friendly and helpful. Cheap.
Review 33:- the wilan was problematic after 22h, don't know why
Review 34:- the pool is great, the best I've seen in Saarbrücken - the hotel is 5-10' walking from Sankt-Johann square - the staff is nice - the room is pretty big (as often in Germany)
Review 35:Lift that comes between floors made luggage force few steps up/down when there is a"lift" is for a purpose for luggage to upper floors levels rooms, shower in bath is awkward position for big tall guys in uncomfortable position to reach wash feet as well reach soap/liquids things each time to apply body wash, toilet bidet is not nice that comes nasty smell before flushing it out (even it is good bidet design to stop it splashing water toward human's bottom but concern is the smell that evaporate without water covered it)
Review 36:Bed and sauna/swimming
Review 37:sauna was turned off but pool was ok. anyway it's not the most important issue during the hotel stay :)
Review 38:big room (we were staying in a family room for 3 persons), well working wi-fi, good choice of meals for breakfast. good location within short walking distance from the city center.
Review 39:Nothing
Review 40:Excellent breakfast with very efficient staff. Had a good sleep thanks to a comfortable bed. Works for me. We stayed twice in 10 days so I have no complaints. A short distance to the shopping centre as well.
Review 41:You can hear people in the rooms next door watching TV and using the bathroom.
Review 42:Breakfast was pretty good and plentiful for a hotel with only 2 stars. I was quite pleasantly surprised by that in the morning.
Review 43:The single room was a bit shabby compared to the double room. Especially the toilet did not have (good) ventilation system.
Review 44:Staffs are very kind and location is good. Having sauna is the best part and I will miss it! The value for money was quite good, especially with the double room. I will consider staying in this hotel in my next visit.
Review 45:* matrass quality. Never had back pain before sleeping on this bed. * we picked the hotel for the pool and sauna, but they were closed during our entire stay. No information concerning this on booking.com or before checking in.
Review 46:-breakfast
Review 47:The bathroom is tiny, the toiletries consist of a few sachets and the shower hose is really short.
Review 48:My room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the garden but the double bed had two single mattresses which is frequent in Germany. The sauna and swimming pool in the basement were badly lit and the water in the pool was a bit cold but it was nice to do as the Germans do and swim naked. There are quite a few restaurants nearby including the 3 star Michelin Gästehaus Klaus Erfort which is almost next door. The breakfast was alright. Overall it was good value for money.
Review 49:there could have had another English channel on the tv, and tea or coffee stuff in the rooms
Review 50:the hotel was clean and the staff very friendly (better at English then we were at German)lol it was a small work from the town centre about 15 mins slow walk and you were in the hart of Saarbrucken.
Review 51:No major complaints. The decor is a bit past its best, but perfectly adequate, especially considering the low price. When we stayed there the weather was exceptionally hot, so we didn't get a great night's sleep, but I'm sure it's normally fine.
Review 52:The staff were helpful and friendly, the hotel is a 10-minute walk from town. Our room was in the back, and quite quiet, and everything was clean. Breakfast was good.
Review 53:Rather dated. No aircon
Review 54:Large room. Good breakfast clean towels and sheets. If you are just passing through its a reasonable place to stay. Parking outside for a small fee.
Review 55:No aircon in the room.
Review 56:The triple room we had was very large, with comfortable beds. Breakfast was very nice. Location was great - close to a nice river walk and just 10 minutes walk from the centre of town.
Review 57:Bed matrasse was worn out, curved under many sleepers
Review 58:Location was good near center
Review 59:Parking is only on public road, with parking meter
Review 60:Quiet Hotel 10 minutes walking from the city center, Clean and large room. Good breakfast
Review 61:pool, nice staff, bathroom OK
Review 62:Room was pretty bog standard,
Review 63:Nice free fly staff. Nice sauna and pool.
Review 64:it was way too hot...!

Review 67:no air conditioned old fashioned furniture
Review 68:very clean friendly helpful staff
Review 69:wifi was average

Review 71:nice big room for 2 adults and a teenager L shaped so we all had privatecy

Review 74:Very hot weather and no air conditioning. Lift very nearly the smallest I have ever seen (a real squeeze for two people and two cases).
Review 75:No water in room, not very clean. Small room.
Review 76:Good location
Review 77:rien à redire
Review 78:Hôtel correct près du centre ville . Piscine et sauna appréciés
Review 79:Welcoming hotel & staff
Review 80:small bathroom
Review 81:swimmin pool and sauna
Review 82:The staff was very helpful in feeding the meter until free parking kicked in. Also recommended a great place for dinner in the walking mall.
Review 83:Swimming pool a littlebit cold.
Review 84:Just fine for a night. Somewhat outdated, but clean.
Review 85:Friendly personal, great breakfast.
Review 86:Room was huge !
Review 87:Naked men in pool & sauna not to my wife's liking.
Review 88:Pool but not the inhabitants.
Review 89:Very good location and nice breakfast.
Review 90:We were made to feel very welcome Huge triple room Great breakfast
Review 91:Rooms are very small. Hotel is a little dated.
Review 92:Good locaton. Good value. Breakfast.
Review 93:Bathroom is a bit small.
Review 94:Decent breakfast included in price
Review 95:receptionist smokes straight at the reception desk
Review 96:Clean room, calm area, good breakfast, reception open 24/7, responsive personnel
Review 97:Décor was a bit dated and basic
Review 98:Breakfast, very spacious rooms, swimming pool
Review 99:The relation price/what you can get is high.
Review 100:its good - clean, efficiently run and just a nice stroll into the town. Good parking for our motorbike, nice reception staff. recommend
Review 101:It was very hot in the room (end of July)
Review 102:Staff was not very friendly.
Review 103:Breakfast. Was good, Room was clean
Review 104:No air conditioning so bit recommended for summer or any hot day. Never open your window. Too many bugs.
Review 105:Very helpful staff
Review 106:A bit of car noise at night bit not overly loud.
Review 107:Location a bit far from station, but centre of the city hence comfortable location. Not 5 star but good quality fittings, clean, good breakfast, friendly staff. They let us check in early which was nice
Review 108:The chap on reception when we arrived on 5/6/14 eve was consistently VERY rude to all 3 of us. We thought he was joking or it was Candid Camera but it wasn't. Other staff were fine. Was it because we were English?
Review 109:Nice pool
Review 110:No complaints.
Review 111:Good location - short walk (or even shorter tram ride) into old town market area. Also near to Saarland museum and modern gallery. Inexpensive tram ride to station too. Staff very helpful and speak English. Nice breakfast in attractive dining room. Spacious room - very good value for money.
Review 112:The two male receptionists I dealt with were very cold, with no smiles, and straight to the point, I wouldn't say rude but a smile would have been nice. During check-in time I was given the key to my room and simply told "enjoy your stay", no "welcome" when I arrived, nothing at all, I wasn't even told anything about the check-out or about the breakfast time, which is something that you get normally told in most establishments; after entering my room, I had a look around and found some clearly visible dust here and there + the TV was a model from the '70s or the '80s probably so I went down to speak to the receptionist and said that as a whole I didn't like the room and wanted to see a different one, the man was a bit surprised but agreed to give me a key for another room, which I found more acceptable so I stayed there.
Review 113:The hotel is in a very handy location, about 10 / 15 minutes walk from the central pedestrian area. It has an indoor swimming pool, which I saw but unfortunately didn't have a chance to use, it is clearly a plus and that's the main reason why I had chosen this hotel in the first place. The breakfast was excellent, with a vast selection of sweet and savoury options, but the coffee could have been of better quality.
Review 114:The beds are smallish and a bit hard, but hey nobody said to expect the Ritz Carlon.
Review 115:Location, location ..... right in the center of the city The buffet breakfasts are excellent Indoor pool & sauna, friendly staff ....... Excellent value!
Review 116:The mature woman in the breakfast room is not really an outstanding example of professionalism, although she is almost funny, at the end.
Review 117:Not particularly modern, but decent and clean mid-price hotel, located a short distance from Central Station and not so far from the other points of interest in the town. Good breakfast, nice little spa, friendly staff at the concierge.
Review 118:The only thing that I missed in the room was a kettle and the ability to make a tea or coffee in my room, such a small thing when everything else was great
Review 119:when we arrived we were met with a friendly greeting and made to feel very welcome. Upon entering our room we were surprised at how large the room was and the amount of space available, this made a very pleasant change. The rooms were well furnished and decorated to a high standard, they were very comfortable and had everything that was required. When I asked questions about the town center or restaurants nothing was too much trouble, the breakfast buffet was superb you could easily find food that you liked and there was plenty of it. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The hotel location was excellent for exploring the surrounding area and visiting the city center. I would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel or recommending it to anyone visiting Saarbrucken
Review 120:No aircon. But you get what you pay for.
Review 121:Great staff, well priced inner city accommodation. Older hotel but well managed and maintained. Great breakfast for a 2* hotel. I will stay again if in Saarbrucken.
Review 122:we just stayed one night; for multi days the room is a bit small and the tv set is next to the bed instead of opposite; bit weird location
Review 123:convenient location; easy to find; great breakfast buffet
Review 124:Rooms were outdated. The pillows were useless. I folded mine in half andit was still flat as a pancake. The tv was a vintage 15" 1990model. With the name spa in the hotel name I was expecting much more.Parking was described as available. Parking was actually metered parkingfrom 8am to 9 pm on the street. I had to make sure and put money in themeter to keep from being ticketed.
Review 125:The rooms were clean. Breakfast was good and the breakfast stafffriendly.
Review 126:we did not like the beds : much to hard ! on request we got extra pillows, but did not help to have a good sleep.
Review 127:we liked the location, close to the city centre. restaurants are nearby. competent staff
Review 128:Finding it first time via the one way street system was not so easy. And parking is on the street.
Review 129:I used it as a one night stopover. All quite basic but comfortable. Good value. Sauna open till 10.00pm. Decent breakfast with good scrambled eggs.
Review 130:The upper floors: old and not shining at all The room: like it has never been refreshed since 1950... The TV-set: as old-looking as the room... The suuroundings: suburbian and far away from the city center
Review 131:The entrance: modern and sparkeling The eating room: feeling like being in Mom's living room, with stacked bookshelves and an fireplace The fresh and fully loaded breakfasr buffet
Review 132:very noisy, you can hear each person entering / leaving each room of your floor...
Review 133:pool, sauna, easy to find. value for money, but do not expect more.
Review 134:The building is somewhat dated and is a long walk to centre of town.
Review 135:Here you get a pool, a sauna, a huge breakfast and not to bad a location. Good value.
