Reviews for Hotel Graf Rolshausen

Review 1:A bit overpriced at 115,- pn, but that was maybe due to the holiday season (Sylvester). Normally is 80,- which is great value

Review 2:Nice atmosphere in the hotel. Lovely breakfast, very complete

Review 3:Lovely old, slate finished building, with exposed beams in the rooms.great atmosphere with all the Christmas decorations. The atmosphere of the whole Christmas Market with brass band and concert were really seasonal

Review 4:The unfriendliness of the host and the chef. The 24 euro that we paid for wifi. We used it from 14.30 on Saturday to 11 am on Monday.

Review 5:Hotel building, position, breakfast, comfortable room.

Review 6:We arrive late , difficult to find in the dark and bad weather No Parking for unloading Luggage No lift to upper rooms

Review 7:Room good. Breakfast very good

Review 8:Hotel was a bit too oldfashioned and staff not very friendly and a bit formal.

Review 10:internet wifi access is still not free and it seems that we disturbed the restaurant staff

Review 11:the location with its views on Monschau, the old interior decoration, the old cave of the restaurant, the big breakfast buffet, the hotel owner was very friendly and helpful

Review 12:The wifi was not good only worked for limited periods however the hotel did not charge us for this as they were aware there were issues with the wifi..

Review 13:Friendly helpful staff

Review 14:paying for wifi is not something I am used to at hotels but it didn't detract from the hotel

Review 15:what's not to like about a 1500 century hotel in a very beautiful city

Review 16:Ridiculous to ask money (€6 per day )for wifi. And it crashed every day! We had the honeymoon suite and had two separate duvets! Huge bathroom with bath but no separate shower.

Review 17:The location

Review 18:trop cher, donc ... equipement salle de bain vieille TV avec reception brouillée vitre ext cassée pas de minibar ni frigo buffet petit dej limité diner trop cher pour l offre

Review 19:cadre style situation geo ideale parking p5 proche propre bon personnels accueillants

Review 20:Staff was unfriendly and unhelpful on arrival, as if you are intruding. No one to help you heave your luggage upstairs after walking all the way from the bus . No signboards for this hotel anywhere in sight , compared to all the other accommodation signs. Could only speak German and few English words, so asking for additional info impossible. We left feeling relieved.

Review 21:Lovely town, comfy bed

Review 22:Getting there. My GPS sent me down the Bergstrasse, a steep, narrow path down the mountain. Actually, it is close to the Burgau Parking lot.

Review 23:Located in the center of Monschau, with shops & restaurants. Beautiful old building with newly renovated rooms. Garages for rent just down the street, also close to Burgau Parking lot. The owner of the hotel was kind enough to help me park in the narrow garage.

Review 24:Decor of the 70s Synthetic orange sheets on bed Cracked sink Poor breakfast Little assistance on arrival, which is difficult due to the location of the hotel Poor value for money

Review 25:The town of Monschau Size of the room and bath! The building itself It was quiet

Review 26:No hairdryer in the bathroom.

Review 44:The hotel is well located in a beautiful town. Worth every cent.

Review 45:We loved the historical aspect of the hotel. Breakfast was great

Review 46:Third floor so low water pressure in shower and paid TV didn't work

Review 47:the srtange smell of the room. I donot know whether it is newly decorated.

Review 48:big room, comfortable shower and good breakfast

Review 49:The shower is very uncomfortable. The wi-fi code is not indicated and the owners only speak german.

Review 50:The location of the hotel

Review 51:The curtains were very ineffective

Review 52:Great location, very good breakfast

Review 53:Dirty carpets Very dated interior Rigid hosts (but very correct)

Review 54:Good bed Breakfast is simple but good Price

Review 55:Lovely note, clean rooms, good breakfast, great location all at a fantastic price. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 56:Old dated and overrated Bad and expensive wifi No parking Unfriendly and uninterested staff

Review 57:Room Bread at breakfast

Review 58:Very german style carpet very old

Review 59:Lacked atmosphere Bedrooms were still in the 1960s.

Review 60:Interesting building Comfortable bed

Review 61:Location and beauty of building

Review 62:No WiFi

Review 63:Breakfast

Review 64:Dining room closed until Thusdays, so no evening meal.

Review 66:Restaurant not open the day of our visit.

Review 67:Quaint old building with modern facilities.

Review 68:The view, ambiance

Review 71:Nothing all very good

Review 72:Lovely hotel would recommend this

Review 73:We liked it all

Review 74:The warm welcome and parking facility

Review 75:6€ for wifi is not really ok

Review 76:Nice hotel in an old building. Good breakfast. Helpful staff.

Review 77:slightly dated décor, but this is being picky

Review 78:beautiful old hotel in fantastic location, very friendly owner. secure undercover garage for motorbike.

Review 79:The fan in the toilet did too much noise. They advertise a 400 years old cellar but it can only be visited at very limited times

Review 80:Location and cozyness

Review 81:Had a great stay . Our host very obliging . He looked after us well . Loved the old house with its creeks and twists . Would have liked to stay at Halloween .great breakfast . Nice towels . We're able to pay with visa.

Review 82:No terrace Lack of choice of bread at breakfast

Review 83:Friendly staff Very clean Beautiful building Quiet location Morning bird singing Easy access to the centre

Review 84:difficult, almost impossible to open the window, heating was still on at around 1800 hrs and could not be switched off, difficult to get into the wireless internet although i had to pay for it,

Review 85:nice in the style the houses decorated rooms, clean, well functioning bathroom, good breakfast

Review 86:Well, we were foolish enough to try and find our way round Monschau by car! Some streets are quite challenging. But car parks at either end are not far.

Review 87:Friendly, helpful owner. Nice rooms. Garage available (at extra cost) nearby. Good breakfast buffet. Delightful village

Review 88:No lift, had to carry bags a distance from parking lot, breakfast was at 0800 on a Friday.

Review 89:Decor, comfortable room, good breakfast, great location, quiet

Review 90:Not much really. The restaurant runs as a separate business and, unlike the hotel, does NOT take credit cards, which, given the prices, is a bit of a pain.

Review 91:Central location, traditional decor and furniture (perhaps not to everyone's taste but nicely done and clean), good food in restaurant. Staff only speak a few words of English but we all had fun trying to communicate (with our few words of German). Excellent strong WiFi signal throughout the ground and upper floors (not in restaurant which is shielded I guess by the underground location and brickwork).

Review 92:- needs renovation (i.e. crack in sink, no small cabinets in bathroom, worn out carpet in whole building) - to expensive for quality - cold impersonal entrance

Review 93:- beautiful old building - friendly people - good restaurant, good food

Review 94:The rooms were small, the bathrooms were even smaller and the wardrobes were creaky.

Review 95:The location was great. The breakfast room was enormous, with a huge Christmas tree and the food selection was vast.

Review 96:no tea or coffee facilities need to make clear on website

Review 97:location family atmosphere , traditional christmas theme, history of the hotel staff very friendly and helpful staff speak very little English so if you do not speak German phrase book would be handy

Review 98:The hotel was decorated beautifully in the Christmas theme and it had a wonderful cosy atmosphere. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was delicious. Great location in the centre of Monschau.

Review 99:The owners, professional ballet dancers "in a former life",exude the style, discipline, yet also the strictness of this art form tothe present day. Helpful, competent and multi-lingual, they mightdemonstrate more joy in the work of art they have created in Monschau.

Review 100:The hotel, located in a 500-year-old former residence of local counts,is overflowing with atmosphere, from the cozy cellar restaurant andoriginal fireplace in the reception to the exposed oak beams of theupper floors. The comfortable, clean rooms are well furnished anddecorated in a charming, timeless fashion. The breakfast was generousand the dinner tasty, if pricy.

Review 101:Extremely difficult to find, finally needed the local postman to show us as nobody else knew. Parking about 1 km away. Not many restaurants open aty this time of year.

Review 102:Apart from a few hangups, the overall stay was very good and scenic.

Review 103:Our room (suite) plus a garage for the night cost 132 euros. Whencalculating my wife gives the hostess at 150 euros. And the delivery is12. What is this? Error or hostess herself left a tip?

Review 104:No complaints.

Review 105:Beautiful old building, quirky/old interiors, lovely room with old furniture and great view (we were on the third floor), very good breakfast, excellent location, good value for money

Review 106:Might be a British thing but we need tea/coffee making facilities please!!!!!!!!!!! And did I miss the hairdryer?

Review 107:Clean comfortable en suite rooms. Good breakfast in welcoming breakfast room. Our second visit which didn't disappoint in any way. This time we travelled with friends who loved it too, and the staff were most helpful and accommodating to our friend with walking difficulties. Situated in heart of Monschau with easy access to all parts of a beautiful, interesting, historic town, with so much character.

Review 108:You have to leave a car about 500 meters away from the hotel, the decoration of the window don't permit to open it and its a pity as the air is really very good in this place

Review 109:The hotel is very authentic with old furniture and decortion, nicely served breakfast

Review 110:Hard to find even with gps.

Review 111:This hotel was very nice and clean. Most important!!! The stairs were abit tricky, but the proprietor helped us with our luggage. Breakfast wasvery nice and we really enjoyed it. Monschau is a very charming town andthis property reflected that charm.

Review 112:Not that I disliked the owner but she was her own person, quite atypicalfor a front of house.

Review 113:The hotel itself was a lovely building, a little spooky but in a goodway, great location.

Review 114:Missed a balcony and a view. The restaurant was unfortunately not open the days we stayed there.

Review 115:Fantastic town. Nice hotel, although a bit hard to find, and Monschau is not that suited for cars. Very friendly hotel manager.

Review 116:As others have mentioned, the hotel does not have parking - but they cannot change this! Monschau is a beautiful old town that was not built for traffic. There is enough room on the street in front of the hotel to park a car for a few minutes to unload luggage. We had no trouble finding the public car parks and didn't think they were a long walk away (but don't do it with suitcases!)

Review 117:This is a lovely old charming B&B close to the center of Monschau. We had room 21- it was spacious and we had no complaints. Certainly some of the decor is outdated, and we had 2 different colour carpets in our room but this is all part of the charm! The bathrooms seem to have all been renovated. The price is entirely reasonable, and the breakfast selection is plentiful (meats, cheeses, breads, etc.) We would happily stay here again.

Review 118:Although my knowledge of the German language was sparse, the staff did not speak English. The hotel restaurant was not open on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday and we were there on the Tuesday. Many other restaurants seemed to close at 1800.

Review 119:The hotel was friendly. The location was difficult to find but the day staff provided a very useful sketchmap to the location for unloading the car.

Review 120:Very difficult to navigate the very narrow, quaint cobblestone streets with an auto. Advise parking in car lot outside old town and seeing town on foot. Very difficult place for a handicapped person to get around. No lift in hotel. Lots of uneven floors and stairs. Hills and steps on the streets throughout the town. Staff & merchants speak mostly in German.

Review 121:Very romantic quiet town. Food offerrings in the town and hotel are excellent. Scenic quaint buildings and streets. Beautiful river flowing through the town. Hotel staff were friendly and shared an interesting family history and historic facts about the hotel.

Review 122:Bathroom was very small but wasn't a problem. Despite the innkeeper speaking very little English, I knew a few basic words of German and communication was not a problem at all.

Review 123:Loved the charm of a 400+ year old hotel in a beautiful medieval village. Like stepping into a fairy tale! Room was comfortable enough and breakfast was fantastic. Got lucky with finding a good parking space nearby. Could only spend one night but would gladly have stayed another.

Review 124:Curtains in the room were completely ineffective, old and tatty, and didn't even fit the windows (a pair of curtains seemed to be split over two seperate windows to economise). Street light outside which stayed on all night. Mentioned this to the staff but said there was nothing they could do. On the second night we put blankets and towels over the windows to help to get to sleep. This was quite a disappointment as sleeping is the reason for staying in a hotel overnight. Accompanying restaurant seemed good quality but expensive compared to elsewhere in the town. The price of this hotel compared to others in the region seemed expensive for the quality and facilities. Breakfast not as extensive choice or quality as would have expected. Not many brochures or literature of the area available in the hotel. No hairdryer in the room, had to request one specifically, quite unusual these days. I wouldn't stay in this hotel again unfortunately, mainly for the price and lack of curtains which was a shame. Not much info on Booking.com about the facilities of the hotel.

Review 125:Rustic looks inside of the hotel, communal areas nicely decorated. Restaurant very pretty and comfortable. Cleanliness good. Bed was comfortable. Quiet location. Staff did seem to be hardworking.

Review 126:The restaurant is only open Fridays through Sunday. Early in the week itis closed. It is also run under contract and for some reason payment isby cash, not cards.

Review 127:It did not claim to be anything other than what it is - a characterful, very old hotel in a very old large village in the Eifel. It was veryclean, very quiet even though we had a room at the front opposite thechurch! Excellent breakfast, helpful staff, although few in number. Thebest of the hotels in Monschau where there are no so called starredhotels. I recommend to all those thinking of travelling to the Eifel

Review 128:The smallest TV I have ever seen in a hotel room.

Review 129:Hotel right in the middle of Monschau ideal spot for walkers and all sightseeing. Our room was large and bright with plenty of storage space. The breakfast room was delightful and food offered was plentiful and good quality.

Review 130:Staff need to work on their attitudes, no coffee available in the bar after 9.

Review 131:Great breakfast, great building, parking 5mins away behind the glass shop in the village.

Review 132:Not possible to get any drink or food (other than breakfast) in hotel.. Restaurant does open evenings but weekends only. Staff do not speak any English, and are very reserved.

Review 133:very German in style. Well maintained. Close to village centre. Excellent WIFI.

Review 134:Attitude of male staff member on arrival, not particularly helpful-friendly when asking directions for car park which was a long way from the hotel, too far to be honest.

Review 135:good breakfast, traditional b uilding

Review 136:staff did not have an adequate tourist map of the town; there was construction in the street outside of the hotel, making it difficult to walk into town

Review 137:great old-world ambience, good breakfast

Review 138:We were on 2nd floor and there is no elevator. The parking is away fromthe hotel, free till 10:00 am afterwards 5 euro for a whole day which ischeap. You should use p Burgau,Owners are nice, not much english though.

Review 139:You arrive in a hotel which hasn't changed its design for 50 years. Darkwood, wallpaper, paintings, big fireplaces The breakfast room is new andsunny and light with wonderful chinaware, Try to arrive during daylight,if travelling by car.
