Reviews for Hotel am Schillerpark
Review 1:Room a little small, value for the money maybe not as good as other places in the area. Breakfast was fine, all the basics, but again compared to other hotels nearby, maybe not as wide ranging.
Review 2:Good location, a few minutes walk from the altstadt Esslingen, convenient access from the highways. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 3:Although the booking states that there is air con the room didn't have. The staff didn't mention it upon our arrival and we ended trying to sleep in a very hot room. The person we called to complain about that was rude.
Review 4:Everything was fair except air conditioning.
Review 5:The bed was horribly uncomfortable.
Review 6:The staff was quite nice and the Italian restaurant was very accommodating for our last minute arrival prior to closing.
Review 7:Our room was split & included an upstairs bedroom area which seemed great when booking. But being Summer, the upstairs was the hottest area. When the air condition was turned on, it just made no difference.
Review 8:For our purpose location was great. The staff was always happy to assist with our questions in detail & with a smile. Thank you
Review 9:Asked for air conditioning when booking. Did not receive this. Asked for another room but because of the stairs in the room this was not suitable for two elderly people.
Review 10:Staff helpful. Carpark very useful.
Review 11:The address given (so I don't know if this is a booking.com issue or not) takes you down the street when put in GPS. To have dinner at the hotel you have to go to their partner restaurant, but there's no real sign to imply it's an Italian restaurant. We went for dinner and I ordered a German wine, because a. I'm in Germany, and b. The waitress had just placed menus in front of us and I had not had chance to look at it yet. When I ordered a German wine she laughed at me and responded, "You're in an Italian restaurant and order a German wine, um try again." Then I ordered a Chianti (she put me on the spot and I ordered the first Italian wine that came to mind) and she started to ask me all the questions about whether I was aware it was a red wine, and if I would be able to handle it. I mean, really? I realize this is not a part of the hotel, but if the hotel is going to give recommendations to this restaraunt they need to ensure that the wait staff is respectful (or at least let people know it's an Italian place so they don't make the apparent faux paux I made). One more thing about this issue, I've lived in Germany for four years now, and have never had someone treat me like this for ordering a wine that is actually made in the same village.
Review 12:The location was great and the staff was very helpful in giving directions for walking downtown. The shower was nice and the towels were clean and fluffy, not flat and used.
Review 13:No spare pillows in the wardrobe! (the usual very soft German pillows are provided which are hopeless and you always need extra ). You have to ask for a mini bar to be installed - a policy which I never understand. If you don't want road noise ask for a room at the side or back. The info in the room is wrong - the wifi is free but you have to ask for the code at reception.
Review 14:Great breakfast and nice breakfast room. Helpful reception staff. Central location and has parking (if a bit tight). Clean and well maintained business style hotel - boring but functional. Free water in the room.
Review 15:Annoying WiFi log-on ticket required, they didn't charge for it though.
Review 16:Nice modern hotel and rooms, which are a good size. Friendly staff, good breakfast. We visited for the Christmas market, hotel is in a good location for the old town and station. Secure underground parking, carpark isn't huge, but assuming you can actually drive it is not a problem at all!
Review 17:I had expected a bigger room for 100 Euro but it was ok of course. There was a strange smell in the room
Review 18:Comfortable bed not far from the center good WIFI
Review 19:Nothing specific.
Review 20:Located in the middle of the town but quiet. Staff were helpful. Restaurant next door was also nice. Two stairs room with enough space for family. Wifi connection was fast and strong signal though we stayed at the top floor.
Review 21:Sound insulation poor, WiFi restricted to 1 user in a family room for 3,receptionist was not happy to help and parking was tight and if you havea suv it can be a problem for the height oh and no bar open on a Fridaynight!...avoid
Review 22:Breakfast was ok and 10 min walk to old town which is good after dinner.Very nice town.
Review 23:We booked a triple room through booking but when we got to the hotel (at 23:00 with two small children) we were given a single room with double bed. However, when we complained about it we were given another room with no extra charge. It was a good solution but We had to sleep separately.
Review 24:Comfort of the bed was not top but quite fair. My room was situated on the last floor and once in a while a kind of water pump would start operating in the ceiling above me, creating quite some noise that perturbed my sleep.
Review 25:I liked the fact that air conditioning was available ( it was a hot summer night). Staff was kind enough to upgrade me to an AC room ( not all rooms have it ) for no additional charge. Clean place.
Review 26:Smart parking garage, heating on the floor, large room on two levels.
Review 27:Wifi was slow
Review 28:Excellent breakfast. Situated close to old town. Good parking facilities. Quiet location. Free wifi.
Review 29:small parking places in garage
Review 30:nice hotel space in room clean
Review 31:The hotel was very clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was great.
Review 32:Desk staff was a bit curt and terse - not mean, but not welcoming either.
Review 33:Excellent room - very comfortable, walking distance to Esslingen town center, very good breakfast buffet
Review 34:The room for 4 people is huge and very nice as it is on two floors. Very good value for money, staff very kind and helpful, breakfast very good as well with big choice of food. Definitively recommended. Thank you!
Review 35:Breakfast was very nice, but a smaller room so it can be crowded.Parking is underground but it's only for cars under 1.5 meters (notmine). I asked the front desk and they allowed me to park in the parkingspace for the restaurant (thank you). Price is a bit high for Germany.
Review 36:Stayed in a triple room which has a cool loft. Bathroom is upstairs(spiral staircase) which wasn't a problem for us. The bathroom floor isheated (awesome since the morning temperature was 2f - seriously). However, the loft was about 20 degrees warmer than the downstairs (notnecessarily a problem, just strange). Double bed downstairs andcouch/bed upstairs. The room was 125 euro through booking.com, and theparking was advertised as 4,50 and the wireless internet (excellentsignal) as free. However, on checkout, the quoted priced was 142 euro, including a 4 euro charge for the internet. I showed the clerk mybooking.com receipt and he changed it to 129.50 as originally quoted andapologized for the mistake, so that saved a potential scene. Therestaurant next door is awesome by the way. I stayed on a Friday nightthough and it was very busy, and only had two wait staff (slooowwwservice). The hotel is about a 12 minute walk to the altstadt.
Review 37:We had to always keep the bathroom door shut because of an odor.
Review 38:The hotel was competitively priced and within walking distance ofEsslingen's old town area, which we wanted to explore. The bedroom andbathroom were smaller than American hotels, which is typical.Everything was very clean and the hotel was quiet. Staff was friendlyand the breakfast buffet was more than ample -- it included thestandard meat and cheese options, as well as eggs, yogurts, etc. Wewould stay here again.
