Reviews for Leonardo Hotel Köln
Review 1:We did not have a bad experience but would like to make use of the laundry facilities in the Hotel but unfortunately the pricing is too high.
Review 2:The look & feel of the hotel. The usage of computer and facilities very helpfull.
Review 3:Location was a lil out.. Couldnt eat at the restaurant as the waiter said they were "short staffed" but found an amazing grill/carvery not far away
Review 4:Clean comfortable room . Pool and sauna complimentary
Review 5:Pool was cold, sauna was not working on three days. Very little facilities locally.
Review 6:Clean hotel, helpful staff, and you could easily change the room temperature. Good choice at breakfast.
Review 7:Requested a double bed, got a twin room with 2 sine beds pushed together & 2 small single duvets. Called reception to request a double room, they advised the hotel was full. Requested a double duvet, they advised they had none. The hotel was also being renovated so we were woken by loud drills & equipment at 7am, would have been nice if the we were advised of the workday the time of booking or at check in .
Review 8:Nice hotel, quite central to city centre. Good breakfast
Review 9:The only thing, but I have this in most modern hotels, is that it is really warm in the room so we very warm at night. However, the windows open so you just need to open the windows for fresh air.
Review 10:Friendly staff, very clean, spacious room, good swimming pool, very quiet, the fact that there were lots of towels in gym/pool area and that you got a bathrobe & slippers for use without having to give a deposit or anything. The location is also good, there is a supermarket next door (literally) the tram stop to the centre is less than 5 min walk and there are plenty of bakeries and shops on the same street. The train station is probably 7-8 min walk and that takes you to HBF. Kettle with tea and coffee in the rooms.
Review 11:A little bit out from the city center but can get there with-in 15 minutes by train or cable car
Review 12:Excellent efficient service. Warm welcome and great directions to a restaurant even when it was 23:00 when we arrived. Great wi-fi and super breakfast
Review 13:Asked for a Double bed and received a Twin that was set together. Not very comfortable but manageable, what annoyed me the most was that we received two single blankets (haven't slept underneath it for 15 years and i couldn't sleep the first night because of this) and when asked for a Double blanket we were informed they do not have this, however we saw a room with a Double Bed and thus the sheets should've been available too.
Review 14:Breakfast was very good. The location was not bad at all for being so far from the center. Easy to reach with the tram/metro.
Review 15:Good Hotel and helpful staff. Good that there is a supermarket just next door for nibbles. Market stalls on the main street on a Saturday, 5 minute walk to the tram (public transport was excellent and very good value for money).
Review 16:Sauna was not switched on so couldn't use it. Notice said it goes on at 5pm and takes 30mins to be ready. But after 1 hour was still cold!
Review 17:Friendly helpful staff. Great breakfast. Barman makes lovely cocktails. Loved the comfortable bed quilts.
Review 18:Housekeeping. We were asked every morning if we need housekeeping service. It was uncommon for such kind of hotel.
Review 19:Location, breakfast, personnel at reception.
Review 20:It is a non smoking hotel i think, but there was the constant cigaratte smoke smell in the room 610.
Review 21:Ease of checking in, Help from Front desk with most of the requests. Friendly staff at the restaurant.
Review 22:Nothing.
Review 23:Everything. Location (for those coming by car, it's right next to a freeway). With public transport, you're two stops from the Dom with the S-Bahn (Buchforst S-Bahn is a 300 m walk and there are trams and buses nearby as well). There 's a good-sized swimming pool (for a hotel), bath robe and slippers can be obtained at the reception (you don't have to pay a deposit). Food at the restaurant is excellent.
Review 24:Entrance looks quite old move led. mayebe you can better decorated and entrance door should lacketed
Review 25:the reception personnel was very friendly and room was clean. bed was comfortable and breakfast hall was very nice.
Review 26:the location was just off the highway so very easy to find. The parking was adequate for a large RV The breakfast was great and varied The S-bahn and U-bahn were a quick walk away so it was easy to get to the downtown and to the concert arena
Review 27:Quite far from city center but if you had a car it would be ok. The room looked a bit old and the bed was not so comfortable.
Review 28:Clean room and friendly staffs. Private parking lot.
Review 29:Shower curtain too small and doesn't actually stop water, hooks for clothes are not usable.
Review 30:Breakfast was good, room is big enough and staff is friendly.
Review 31:Sauna and Swiming pool a bit old fashion - it didnt feel like "spa" part of hotel.Bathroom and room for 4 stars i would expect be more like on the picture - bright, modern, renowated.
Review 32:Staff was very helpfull and nice, internet worked everywhere.
Review 33:everything is bad , very impolite and rude reception, there is nothing for fitness its a lie, nothing clean , WiFI free is a big lie , you just can use for whats App and more you must pay
Review 34:nothing
Review 35:The staff was good but I didn't like the lady who was on duty at the reception on our last day which was 7th of October. She could have been a little more courteous when she was asking us to pay for our breakfast.
Review 36:Good location and facilities
Review 37:Water in the Swimming pool was too cold. Was pity I chosen this hotel mainly for the pool which I couldn't use it at he end
Review 38:Comfortable beds, nice food in the restaurant, close to the motorway, big room, clean, wifi ok
Review 39:All my likes were not as clean as I was expecting for a four star hotel. I could not not sleep at all. The Windows are old from the late 70s. It was like sleeping right next to the autobahn/highway!
Review 40:Sauna, Sport facilities, swimming pool
Review 41:Room is small. No mini bar in the room. Shower screen too narrow as stated by other reviews.
Review 42:I usually stay in the west side of Koln. This is the first time staying in the east side as it is very near to the exhibition center. Hotel staff is very helpful and kind. Unlike most German hotel, this one has several English TV Chanel and sky. There is a super market next door very handy for snack and fruit. Free parking and fee wifi are bonus.
Review 43:Very tired hotel, bed (single) was very narrow, overpriced for how old & dated it was, I made a cup of tea on the evening I arrived, they didn't take the dirty cup out until the last day of my stay (3 days later)
Review 44:Outside eating area unkempt and dirty. Bar/restaurant woefully understaffed at a particularly busy time.
Review 45:Room. Cleanliness of interior in general. Helpful staff. particularly Volcan in the bar/restaurant who was badly in need of assistance when it mattered. Whatever they are paying him isnt enough. He was just short of a broom tied to his backside so he could sweep the floor as he ran across it. Shame on the hotel here.
Review 46:Located a bit far from downtown but we figured out the trains pretty quickly but be prepared to walk from main stop to Old Town area. Bathroom shower was bad as it only had a half door and water went everywhere. Was forced to take baths. Bit it was very clean.
Review 47:Very nice hotel, clean room, great staff, grocery stores located next door, just a few blocks from train and just a couple train stops to cute little neighborhood with pubs and shops.
Review 48:The reception staff were not so helpful or attentive. The location is in a poor area of the town with many immigrants who were intimidating and made going out for an evening walk pretty undesirable.
Review 49:Restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was superb but pricey.
Review 50:WiFi was downright unusable unless you bought the non free version. That in turn was hard to get working.
Review 51:Nice and friendly staff saved sorta rundown facilities.
Review 52:It's not a big hotel or a new one but great spot, breakfast is nice, coffee is really good, close to tram line and close to main rail station ;) Even you can walk to Messe by 20 mins shortwalk. There is also 2-3 supermarket closeby for travelers.
Review 53:This is definitely not a 4 starts hotel, by international standards: - Air conditioning in the summer simply is sufficient to be able to breath in the room. - Lifts were dirty. Hygiene is poor for a 4 stars hotel. - Maintenance is poor. Certain things are falling apart, like the toilet's handle.
Review 54:- There was coffee in the rooms...given the rest it is not to be taken for granted
Review 55:I was traveling with my daughter for a concert and had requested two beds. Hotel management received my request, but did not accommodate. We had one 'comfort double' (essentially a twin and a half) to share. When I asked to be changed or for a rollaway bed, I was denied. The hotel claims my reservation from booking only showed one person. The exact same thing happened to my friend who was traveling with me for the same concert. So either booking.com screwed up and didn't tell two people were on the reservation, or the hotel simply didn't care. I was disappointed.
Review 56:Great breakfast, convenient location.
Review 57:The location sucks. It is definitely in the bad area of town. There are much better places inner city to stay and cheaper.
Review 58:It was a good hotel, good facilities.
Review 59:Sauna out of order. Breakfast not included. Soap dispensers instead of the usual free toiletries one gets from a 4-star hotel.
Review 60:There is a small grocery store right next to the hotel! Room was of decent size.
Review 61:Was not happy to be slapped with an additional "culture and tourism" tax of 16 euros upon check-out despite having already paid in full upon check-in. The bathroom door to my shared rooms en-suite was rubbish. Had a very minimalist latch and no lock. Despite booking for 1 room with two single beds...was given two single beds pushed together under one bed sheet. They had two computers in the lobby, one did not work and the other could not seem to communicate with the printer next to it (yes the printer was on and connected to the computer).
Review 62:Most of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Good English spoken by all of them. The cleaning staff were friendly but a bit persistent in the mornings, but if you left a "do not disturb" on the door they left you alone. They provided plenty of fresh towels.
Review 63:When we checked in we were told that the sauna was out of order. We said that this was the reason we booked the hotel and that we were very disappointed. The young man at the reception was unable to deal with this adequately.
Review 64:the parking is not cheap.. the furniture is old ... the hotel is far from city center.. you will need transportation to reach... wifi was not great
Review 65:The Breakfast was good... the room are spacious.. parking is huge and secure.. staff are nice...
Review 66:sauna wasn't working , hotel location wasn't great due to the distance to get to the city centre every day and evening by train.
Review 67:staff very professional, clean and fresh hotel
Review 68:Expensive parking if you arrive at midnight and leave 8 hours later plus the hassle of the cultural tax. This should be easier to deal with for business travelers.
Review 69:Nice rooms, good accessibility by car. good location. Good price quality ratio.
Review 70:Nothing major if you don't mind the location. Although they looked clean enough, I hate carpets in hotel rooms. the sound of the highway could be bothersome if you are a light sleeper
Review 71:Decent breakfast, free parking, nice size rooms
Review 72:On the first day of our meeting there were too many groups in the hotel so that we had to met in the bar which was very uncomfortable and loud. Also my colleagues who didn't stay in the hotel payed 0 to 5 Euros for the parking lot a day and if you stay in the hotel you pay 10 Euros per night which I think is unfair.
Review 73:Breakfast, staff
Review 74:- far from city walk 600m and 7 stations by the metro, - the staff not small, - the hotel very old too much old the room furniture so bad no fridge no shower kit in W.C the below very old and damage the bad not comfort and lights very week , TV good , elevator very old, the shower water make the bathroom all wait and the fan not working to dray, the hair dryer very old and no pressure.
Review 75:quite, near a big supermarket
Review 76:There were an administrative or cleaning guy kind of cocky who throw my tooth past and my tooth brush that I had in the bathroom, after my first night.
Review 77:Internet, Parking, Meal.
Review 78:the first room that I received was nice but stinking from Cigarets, the room that was replaced was really big, but old style.
Review 79:location close to exhibition, good for business
Review 80:The first two days I spent the morning in the pool water was cool less than 27 degrees and the sauna was closed. On the third day I asked before I came to the sauna of a directive by the reception and told that I Mhkoon do and sauna and unfortunately also disappointment that day did not act sauna, and every 4 days stay I could not enjoy the pool and particularly the sauna did not work,
Review 81:As a frequently lone female traveler I am used to eating/drinking out on my own, but there was no-where close by that I would have felt comfortable walking in to on my own. Or back to the hotel afterwards.
Review 82:This hotel is clean and smart, the staff are very helpful and the room and bed were comfortable with far more wardrobe space than usually found in business Hotels. The breakfast was more than adequate. Comfortable and inviting bar, with pleasant staff. The Tram stop is only about an 7 minute brisk walk and with only 2 stops to Koelnmesse it's very handy. A taxi is only about 8€ and 10mins drive.
Review 83:Pizza I ordered from room service had almost no cheese on it but the club sandwich was great.
Review 84:Jerome on the staff was great, thanks! I really enjoyed my stay here during Karneval weekend. Was my 2nd time at the hotel and definitely will not me my last stay.
Review 85:If only the price could have been lower during the fair show, that would perfect the rank from me.
Review 86:Location for me was superb, as I was there for Koln fair and it was just 2 stops away. Going to other places also convenient as Tram stops just near by, bus stops right at the front door, and S-bahn only few hundred meters. What a perfect location.
Review 87:long walk to subway into town, internet was not good
Review 88:easy to check in, good parking not too expensive, easy to find, excellent breakfast, small but adequate fitness room, great sauna
Review 89:The bed was way too small even though the room was quite large. In my opinion it did not qualify as a double bed. As a result, we slept poorly.
Review 90:Pleasant common areas, easy parking
Review 91:Paying for parking & internet
Review 92:The staff were friendly & helpful. Room was clean & tidy. The choices for breakfast was broad & plentiful.
Review 93:For such a modern place, as the hotel is merely middle class they should really not charge extra for wifi, they do offer complementary computers in the lobby but they are quite slow and a tad difficult to use for browsing when needing too look up locations for the surrounding area.
Review 94:The bath was great! As was the water pressure for the shower was amazing. The staff was nice, and the hotel was clean. A short walk to the metro, maybe 10-15 minute walk.
Review 95:The pillows are extremely uncomfortable causing bad sleep The hotel reception staff were not very friendly. One get's the feeling that you are disturbing them. They were not welcoming or warm. The lady that helped with out check-out was especially unfriendly. A bit disappointing.
Review 96:Short walk to train station feels a little unsafe late in the evening, but actually it was fine.
Review 97:Comfortable, modern, clean, lots of space, nice bar with big selection of drinks incl. cocktails. Location close to train to city and airport was great. Only 6 min on train to Cathedral/main train station.
Review 98:staffs did not behave polite and professional we booked two double rooms and they gave us two single room instead and they did not even apologise for this mistake the room facilities were very poor
Review 99:Inflexible check in/out times WiFi expensive
Review 100:Comfortable clean room Swimming pool and sauna Easy access to city centre Enjoyable breakfast Good night sleep Polite and helpful staff Modern
Review 101:Our room (702) was incredibly hot (despite being October) and the window was locked so couldn't be opened. There was AC which we used, but it was very noisy all night. Wifi signal was low to non-existent.
Review 102:Breakfast was great and the lady at front desk was very helpful
Review 103:No free internet in the rooms (15.90 eur for 24 hours)
Review 104:Very good hotel, only 5 minutes from tram station. Small gym, saunaand swimming pool could help you to relax. They have very good andtasty breakfast
Review 105:Double bed was nit double. One if the pillow was good but the other wasn't. I couldn't understana why.?
Review 106:Location is good. Near KolMesse Exhibition center. Breakfast perfect. Staff is friendly. And helpful.
Review 107:reception staff
Review 108:convenient location if you go to the fair; only 2 stops by tram or 5 minutes by car. City centre also can be reached easily by the same tram (6 stops). Nice breakfast , spacious rooms in need of a restyling though
Review 109:Check in was a disaster. I walked in and no one at the reception. I ringthe bell and a receptionist comes out as the last thing she wants to dois dealing with me. I talked to her again later and she was a bit nicer, but I guess the hotel lost me at hallo. Checkout team was a bit nicer.Internet: no wonder they don't mention the costs on booking.com site. it's about 5 Euros per hour for a slow connection of 256 kbps, (only a traffic jam is slower than that) and about 7 Euros per faster connection. Prices are to my best recollection. Airco in the room was so poor and the room was too hot. Empty minibar. The lobby is nice but the room looked like a three stars hotel, not four.
Review 110:My room was a bit bigger than others. Breakfast was rich and tasty.Location, away from center, but I needed it close to the highway. Nicetoiletries basket
Review 111:A hotel like this should offer free internet. It's 2014, guys! Offering 256 Kbps for 4 Euro per hour (or high speed for 7 euro) is a rip off.
Review 112:Good location for visitors to the Koln Messe, less for people who want to visit the inner city.
Review 113:I think the car park was espensive. The welcoming wasn't the best.
Review 114:It was a very easy ecsess to the motorway. The hotel was nice and clean and a room was the right size . The breakfast was excelent. The car park.
Review 115:Price of drink &price of food stopped us drinking and dining there. Plus there was strong smell of people smoking even tho the rooms were designated NON SMOKING..
Review 116:Pool and gym
Review 117:A bit too far from the centre & we should have been advised that the roadworks make access difficult
Review 118:Clean & comfortable room & great bar staff
Review 119:Just the location, slightly outside the centre but still easily reachable. Everything else was fantastic. Really was the best option!
Review 120:- Room Size - Friendliness of staff - Pool - TV channels - Bar - Food in general (especially the tomato soup!)
Review 121:Charges for EVERYTHING. Internet had a charge, parking had a charge, etc. I like inclusive pricing. When I book a hotel for 59E and then find out it will cost me another 25E per day to park and have web access I get cranky. To be fair, this was one of our first hotel stops in the EU and we soon realized that most ALL the hotels were organized like this, probably to help disguise the high costs associated with EU travel (gas was $12US per gallon in some places). In all, I enjoyed our stay, but these small things were a ding in the otherwise perfectly smooth ride.
Review 122:The hotel was very clean with an excellent breakfast and staff that were very helpful and friendly. Access to the hotel and to the city at large was very easy and convenient. The room was of a decent size and well appointed.
Review 123:I book one double bed for one room and two single bed for the second room but they give me two single bed for the two rooms that I dont like. In every hotels wifi is free why your hotel not free
Review 124:Breakfast was good
Review 125:Staff and when we check in on our first day we were sent to a room were we walk in on a man naked thanks to the receptionist but they taugh it was funny. Pillows uncomfortable Air on did not work Location well outside the city center Staff very unpleasant Stay clear of this's hotel
Review 126:The road out of there.
Review 127:the rooms are not even close to the ones shown on the pictures, interior very old, bathroom stinky and the bathroom door (see-through) is next to the bed, no safe, no fridge. Very dissatisfied! Not worth the money! Definitely not a 4* hotel!
Review 128:The cleanliness of the room was poor. My fridge had mode for the duration oft stay which I was unable to use.
Review 129:Great located hotel with good transport links into cologne city centre. The staff was helpful and welcome. Good facilities and comfortable rooms
Review 130:The area is a bit iffy with the hotel being the smartest place there. On arrival the receptionist did not not come to the desk despite ringing bell three times so I had to go the bar to ask the barman cum waiter (rather scruffily dressed) to find the receptionist which he did. Receptionist was surly and not bvery helpful although receptionist next day very apologetic and very helpful. Hotel Tourist map not very good
Review 131:Room was OK if a bit small but twin beds even though a double was asked for when booking. Restaurant menu a bit limited but service from waiter cum barman good. Breakfast was OK.
Review 132:Terrible customer service and lack of staff training.
Review 133:convenience location
Review 134:My room was clean and comfortable. It was also quiet, despite the traffic on the main road outside.
Review 135:Shower was a little dirty but not horrible
Review 136:Location. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was good
Review 137:Breakfast was excellent
