Reviews for Hotel Königshof

Review 1:The beds were awful! Almost moved to a different hotel because both my daughter & I were suffering on those mattresses.

Review 2:Staff were helpful & breakfast was good. Location was the best to get absolutely anywhere. Mainz is a good point to visit a lot of different places.

Review 3:There is nothing fancy about the Hotel Königshof. But my room is clean and fully functional, with a single bed with a small bedside table, a large desk with a chair, a large closet, additional hanging space, and a suitcase stand. The only things missing are a box of tissues in the bathroom and an in-room safe. The wifi Internet connection, included in the price of the room, is not particularly fast but is generally reliable. The breakfast buffet is average in quality and range. The hotel is conveniently located for anyone arriving in Mainz by train, being just across the plaza opposite the Hauptbahnhof.

Review 4:Lovely staff on duty, most welcoming and helpful. Breakfasts were excellent. A good range of continental foods and plenty of coffee. Breakfast room was charming. Single room was very comfortable and a huge, great shower.

Review 5:No problems.

Review 6:This was my third stay here and would pick this hotel again if I am staying in Mainz. Close to train station and short walk to main sightseeing areas of the town. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

Review 7:TV channel options seemed very limited. However, that was not a deal-breaker.

Review 8:Awesome location, clean rooms, highly responsive staff, lovely breakfast, good wi-fi.

Review 9:N/A

Review 10:Great location. Right opposite the train station. Great welcome from the reception staff. A highly recommended hotel to stay. Very clean and comfortable room. Would definitely stay at Hotel Honigshof again. Easy walk into city centre and a great Tapas Bar across the street. Great hotel.

Review 11:The room had some spider webs but it was immediatelly cleaned and they gave us a little something as a forgive/compensation

Review 12:We wanted a castle hotel to experience and that was fullfilled. The building, the surrounding, the nature, all very special. The breakfast was very good and beautifully served and the view was superb

Review 13:Noise levels: first, noise from the street in rooms in the front, then I stayed in a room in the back but could hear the guest next door talking on the phone through the wall

Review 14:updated facility, very clean, excellent breakfast, very good front desk in reception

Review 15:The proximity to the train station and bus and tram lines enabled us to get around so easily, but there was no train or traffic noise. The breakfasts were substantial and quite healthy.

Review 16:Convenient and in very good condition. I would not hesitate to stay again. I am a senior traveler and found it to be safe and comfortable. Breakfast more than adequate for someone with a plant-based diet.

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:The location opposite the rail station is perfect, as I was travelling into Frankfurt for business. Also able to park my car by the rail station for just Euro 3.00 per day. Friendly and very helpful staff. Great value for money. Will stay again.

Review 19:Access to the lobby was up several steps, difficult to navigate with 25 kg bag. The steps from the elevator to my room were similarly difficult.

Review 20:Hotel was across the plaza from the main train station and adjacent to tram and bus service. Breakfast and staff service was good.

Review 21:Proximity to the train station is a real bonus. Staff at the desk are very helpful and make the stay in Mainz enjoyable. Fantastic Italian restaurant nearby.

Review 22:Very creaky floor in room. Wifi heavily censored on sites that could not be considered 'indecent'. Lack of safe, coffee/tea making, refrigerator.

Review 23:Good location close to station and all amenities. Reasonable size room. Good breakfast.

Review 24:The room was not very soundproof- we experienced one unpleasant night due to people shouting very loudly on the street below.

Review 25:Hotel was fine, wifi worked great, good breakfast. Location walking distance to attractions.

Review 26:Due to a messe the prices were too high. 98€ for one person for one night is too much for this hotel

Review 27:The room was big. They let me park my bike inside. But no help from staff

Review 28:Combination of stairs and elevator to get to the room. Not good for those who can't climb or have difficulty with stairs.

Review 29:Great location from train station! Very good breakfast, very nice room

Review 30:The elevator goes to the first floor but then we had to drag our bags down a half flight of stairs. 12 o'clock check out was not negotiable leaving us with 2 extra hours before going to airport for our flight.

Review 31:The room was a good size. The bed was comfortable.

Review 32:The decoration was very dull. The whole hotel needs updating. The blue curtains in the dining room are vile in my opinion. The lady who was on duty when I checked out.No warmth. I consider it quite expensive for a very ordinary hotel.

Review 33:Location. The man who was on reception the night I checked in.

Review 34:The breakfast was disappointing compared with the other hotels we stayed at in Germany.

Review 35:Good location, spacious room, air con which was essential as it was quite hot. Staff spoke good English and were very helpful.

Review 36:Above a night club so quite noisy. Due to the humidity we wanted to leave the windows open, but was disturbed by the noise from outside

Review 37:It was good value for money, large rooms, good service

Review 38:asked to pay 20euros deposit on electric adaptor by reception staff. On returning it different staff member was amazed we had been asked to pay it :(

Review 39:Breakfast was excellent. WiFi instruction given at booking in before I had chance to ask. Location fabulous. Reception staff friendly n knowledgable.

Review 40:Very helpful and good advice at check-in. Spacious room. No noise from train station. Had air-con which can be rare in some places in Europe. Much appreciated after very hot weather. And we're from Australia!

Review 41:There was an intermittent sewerage smell coming from the bathroom. The pillows were really flat.

Review 42:This hotel was very close to the main train station and there were a few restaurants close to grab a quick bit to eat. The room had beautiful high ceilings and was quite large. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was basic but wholesome.

Review 43:The lift is in the stairwell, so you'll still have to schlep your suitcase up about 6 steps to get to your floor.

Review 44:Very close to main train station. Good WiFi.

Review 45:The floor and walls were not made of bricks and you could feel the vibrations when trains passes by. The wifi allows only for one device and is resetted every day, making it troublesome.

Review 46:The breakfast was good. The bedroom was big.

Review 47:This hotel was right across the street from the train station. It was an easy walk to the main attractions in Mainz, but if you didn't want to walk, the tram lines were right across the street, and the reception desk was very helpful in letting us know which trams or buses to use. Our room was big and very comfortable.

Review 48:Not a bad experience but there must be better way to start wifi for arriving guests. Good breakfast, tasteless bread.

Review 49:Liked the comfortable in room seating, large bathroom and beautiful interior colors.

Review 50:Great location right across from the train station, yet remarkably quiet. Air conditioning in room. 24-hour reception, and very friendly staff. All a pleasant surprise!

Review 51:Some floors the lift(elevator) stops between floors and one has to carry the bag up.

Review 52:Across the road from the bahnhof Mainz and always welcoming with big room improvements over the 28/9 years I have been staying there.

Review 53:There was no hot water on the shower. Of course, I only found out by trying to take a shower in the morning. I think that this should take priority in rating: 1 in my opinion, not the calculated score.

Review 54:The only downside of this hotel is getting n outer room due to traffic and local bar noise. Wash cloths would be a nice addition.

Review 55:Location near train station. This hotel continues to make improvements thanks to the owner. Beds were great and cleanliness was impeccable. Staff friendly and can speak English, too!

Review 56:WiFi seemed to be a little bit slow but not really a problem if you request a new password

Review 57:Extremely helpful staff and were key in tracking down my luggage and having it delivered to the hotel

Review 58:Wi fi was slow at times, no coffee and tea making falicities, no even a bottle of water in the room.No dried fruits for breaksfat not a cake for coffee after breakfast.

Review 59:Next to the main train station, plenty of buses and trams nearby. Spacius room, nice, helful and vigilant staff.

Review 60:It would be better to have more types of food for breakfast. Especially for younger people, pancakes and/or omelette are very attractive. More fruits would also be great (since they can be combined with Greek yoghurt)

Review 61:The people working there are very friendly, polite and helpful. The room was perfect and the place of the hotel in the city was great! We could go from our hotel to the city centre or the Rhein river by foot. I would love to stay there again, since the combination of this beautiful city and the hotel made our vacation great!! :)

Review 62:WIFI could be faster (but is enough good for skype). ?

Review 63:Staff is very kind and available to help. Break fast is rich and good quality of the food. Everything is very clean. WIFI is FREE!!! Reception is always open!

Review 64:Curtains don't block the light No decent restaurants nearby

Review 65:Beaufiful large rooms Fantastic concierge, great attitude Ideal location, as close to the main station as you can get

Review 66:No fridge in the Rooms

Review 67:v. Good breakfast, Location is very good and next to train station, staff was very nice, Wi-Fi is easy and fast, clean and comfortable.

Review 68:I will be more confident when the computerize their room reservation system. Paper always scares me a little with a large hotel like this.

Review 69:Perfect jumping off point to Frankfurt Airport with a good breakfast, a solid staff, and excellent single rooms.

Review 70:No bad experience at all. The room is quite small, but it's not a problem at all. No noise from outside, only a bit from the corridor.

Review 71:Very good location, friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Clean room and bathroom. Short connections to the Frankfurt city and to the airport. Easy to catch up. Price very moderate.

Review 72:My only complaint is that I wish breakfast had been available at 5:30. With an early flight out of Frankfurt that morning there was no time to eat breakfast. They open at 6:30. and I had already left for the airport. The breakfast look wonderful.

Review 73:Small lift, and shocking to find that there are more steps to go after coming out from the lift. The lift does not go to the hall with rooms directly. Shower place really small.

Review 74:Great location, just across the train station (make sure coming out from the right exit) and near tramway and bus station. A little bit far from center and Rhine (15-20mins walking). Wonderful stuffs very friendly and nice. Room (for 3) big enough for 3 people and a baby (but shower place quite small). They prepared a baby bed for us, really sweet. One of the window is facing train station and the view was beautiful in the morning though somehow noisy at night. Free breakfast pretty good.

Review 75:A bit noisy from traffic. Elevator very small - couldn't handle 2 people and luggage. They charged our credit card long before our arrival. We were planning to pay with cash.

Review 76:Very close to train station. Good breakfast.

Review 77:Not a bad experience, however the (single) room was very small.

Review 78:All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Across the road from the main train station and 10 minuute walking distance to the centre of town.

Review 79:The only thing that was missing was some German sweet pastry cakes for breakfast, but breakfast was good and service excellent.

Review 80:Very pleasant and helpful staff, and the hotel is clean, well situated and also well sound-proof as it is in the train station area.

Review 81:They didn't provide tea/coffee making facilities in room. The hotel ceiling were uncomfortably too high. The pillow were a bit too soft...

Review 82:Super close to the train station. The train station is just around the corner. The room was very good, very clean.Have hotshower, hairdryer, shampoo and towel. The hotel is very strategically located. There cafe and restaurant nearby. There kebab store for those looking for halal food.Bike for rent as well. The breakfast was nice especially the strawberry yoghurt :D

Review 83:- lack of coffee/tee facilities in the room or even at the reception

Review 84:- location - staff - good quality for reasonable price - free wireless Internet

Review 85:Basic rooms, but for the price it was fine.

Review 86:Inexpensive, quiet, and only a 10 min walk to the old town ... right next to the Haufbahnhof, 24 hour parking for 9 euro, just around the corner. Buffet breakfast was plentiful. Staff were friendly.

Review 87:Receptionist did not allow my dad to leave the hotel to catch an earlier train than me to the airport. I had to be woken up at 6am and go down to pay first... That was a bit weird.

Review 88:Value for money and the hotel is situated very central, and next to the train station. The breakfast was good. Rooms were clean.

Review 89:I booked this hotel because the hotel had an elevator. I am too old to want to manage stairs. The hotel does have an elevator. However, it only goes to the 4th floor and I was on the 5th floor. I would have requested a lower floor, but decided I could manage with a luggage assist. Someone was in the hall at four to help me up. When I requested help at departure, I was told there was no one who could help. The fellow in charge at the time was quite abrupt and not in the least helpfu. I will not stay there again.

Review 90:Room size was good for the price. Breakfast well stocked.

Review 91:I had a single room with a single bed . The mattress was a little unforgiving but adequate.

Review 92:the hotel is just opposite the train station in Mainz. it was convenient as I needed access to wiezbaden during my stay. It was easy to get out and about Mainz from the hotel . The staff were on hand all the time and were extremely helpful and friendly, the breakfast was tasty with plenty of choice. A very good stay !

Review 93:Location cant be moee perfect.. you just get out of the main railway station at mainz and the hotel will be in front of you across the road. Both the receptionists were nice and helpful. The room I was given was small but for one person it was ok. Considering the location and the amount I paid, it was well worth it.

Review 94:The wifi. Yes, we had access but it was a bit of a pain. We were given a username and password (each) on a slip of paper which was often hard to read. I heard another man have the same problem as me with deciphering some letters. And it only valid for 24 hours then you had to do it again. Seemed a bit backward to me. Then again, if that's all there was to complain about, then I guess it's nothing.

Review 95:The staff were friendly and helpful The room was comfortable for three of us The breakfast was good Stephan couldn't have been more helpful. We stayed here at the beginning and end of our trip and it was like coming home.

Review 96:Not very quiet during nights. Some people gathering around.

Review 97:I spent 3nights in this hotel. Good location. It is very convenient to any public transportation, including train and bus. There are some good restaurants and supermarket nearby.

Review 98:There is no noise from trains but there is from the Irish pub opposite, if you have a street facing room as I did. Despite double glazing, could hear staff scraping chairs to pack up and talking loudly at 3am on a Tuesday morning! No fault of the hotel though.

Review 99:Breakfast buffet was very good. Room clean, good size and high ceilings. Very close to station, yet about 15 mins walk to old town. People have said the area is slightly seedy at night but as a solo woman I didn't dind that.

Review 100:Wished we could have had a double room but when I booked and when we arrived, there was nothing available.

Review 101:The hotel was right across from the train station and had been rec. by someone on the Frommer Travel site. The breakfast room and the eats were lovely. the Hotel manager was very helpful telling us about the trains to catch to get to our flight to Spain the next morning and gave us a wake up call. Rooms were both very nice.

Review 102:The hotel is less than 1 minute from Hauptbahnhof, bus station and tram station, it is only 10 mins walk to old town or 3 stops in the bus/tram. Friendly staff, let us store bags and gave us travel help

Review 103:The receptionist was so helpful and friendly, told us to go to St Stephen's church with its wonderful Chagall windows-a highlight of our trip. The location is perfect, across the road from the train station but our room was very quiet, and it is a short walk into the restaurant/shopping district. Breakfast was very good and the wifi worked well in our room.

Review 104:Room looked out over the hauptbahnhof which was pretty but noisy at night. The door was difficult to unlock. It took several attempts to figure out.

Review 105:Location was central and easy to find. Staff were helpful and provided good advice for tourists. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty.

Review 106:room vary small , /i would not stay more then 1 night. Parking complicated and expansive.

Review 107:Location . vary good breakfast, friendly staff, clean reasonably priced.

Review 108:Nothing - had no problems with this hotel at all.

Review 109:This a delightful, quiet hotel in a convenient location right opposite the main railway station. The staff were helpful and friendly, even encouraging me to practice the German I learnt nearly 40 years ago at school although they spoke English. Very clean, well furnished and the breakfast buffet was excellent. I only spent one night there in transit for the local airfield at Finthen but as a base for a longer visit to Mainz I'm happy to recommend it.

Review 110:Limited table-top/sideboard/shelf space. Limited towel-rails in shower room. Limited elevator service - some stairs need to be climbed at least to some of the rooms.

Review 111:Extremely convenient location for train travelers. High-ceiling rooms. Good shower. Good breakfast in a spacious pleasant breakfast room.

Review 112:Air conditioning was not very cool. If outside room, very noisy!

Review 113:Walk from train station. Helpful accommodating staff! Very Clean. Good Breakfast! Nice Tapas restaurant across the street. Walking distance from the "old town" part of city. This hotel was a stopover for us at the front of our trip and at the end. Both times were great experience! Definitely recommend.

Review 114:The staff went out of their way to supply special dietary needs for which I was grateful. Buffet breakfast was more than just adequate it was well provided, variety and tasty. Room size was good and bathroom generous in size plus space to hang clothes and spread out toiletries. Lovely hotel close to station, quiet area, plenty of eateries close by.

Review 115:Parking is a bit of a problem in this area, the staff was not necessarily very helpful

Review 116:The hotel looks right into the square outside hauptbahnhof, so it is very centrally located. The rooms were fairly spacious and relatively clean. The wi-fi was good. The breakfast was pretty nice, there was a fairly decent range on offer.

Review 117:No room safe, tea-making facilities.

Review 118:Although opposite the railway station, the location is a quiet, leafy cul-de-sac. High ceiling dining room - architecture had a late 19C feel with modern facilities. Room was bright with large windows, reasonable floor space, large desk space, clean, modern bathroom. Good breakfast buffet selection with scrambled eggs and bacon.

Review 119:Maybe the only vice is that the staff asks your name every time you return to the hotel. It is the first time it has happened to me around the world.

Review 120:Location (opposite to the station); breakfast (rich and well-matched).

Review 121:The noisy Irish Pub across the square at night. We are Irish so what can we say? 30 years ago we would have joined them.

Review 122:An older but well run hotel with a good breakfast.

Review 123:Although there was a elevator, you still need to climb a few steps!

Review 124:Location is perfect for railway tourists. Breakfast was excellent, too. Staff friendly and also helpful.

Review 125:It was a bit noise since it is in a place with a lot of pubs etc... But the windows can isolate most of it.

Review 126:Smiling and helpful staff Location Confortble beds Good shower

Review 127:needed more variety of meals for breakfast. Stayed there for 10 days and it was always the same menu

Review 128:it was close to the train station and downtown as well

Review 129:I have no negative to report.

Review 130:This was one of the best hotels I have stayed at in Europe. The staff could not have been better. Location was my primary reason for staying there. Good room and good bed. Price for value was excellent.

Review 131:Elevator does not reach all floors Street is very noisy, need to close all windows to be able to sleep

Review 132:Staff was amazingly nice and helpful. The hotel is an old building but it is clean and our room was good size, very clean and comfortable. Location is a plus, as it is right in front of the train station and close to downtown.

Review 133:Was occasionally noisy outside overnight but not surprising given location.

Review 134:Friendly reception staff. Allowed us to bring our wet bikes straight into the lobby and into storage area behind reception - really appreciated. Large room overlooking station. Fairly good breakfast.

Review 135:Perfect location at an excellent price, extremely friendly staff that spoke very good English. Nice clean and quiet room, Perfectly located to the Train and Bus station as well as the taxi service. Good breakfast facilities included
