Reviews for The Hotel at Times Square
Review 1:The only negative was the breakfast facility was very populated and it took awhile to get through the line.
Review 2:The location was great and the staff was very friendly.
Review 3:distance from closest subway stop was only negative
Review 4:complimentary coffee/cocoa 24 hours. close to Times Square AND 5th avenue dollar store across the street for bottled water, etc.
Review 5:For the price, proximity, and accommodation, couldn't beat this place for Radio City, Times Square, or Rockefeller Center. I've stayed in plenty a hotel room in Manhattan and this was a great buy--clean, reasonably sized (for NYC), and courteous, helpful service. There with my elderly in-laws, so my wife and I appreciated the roof top bar where she and I could enjoy a good cocktail--but be available for her parents in an instant if needed! Perfect!
Review 6:The mattresses aren't comfortable. Huge dips in them. I'm 4'9 130 pounds I sank righ into a ditch.
Review 7:This is my second time here. The location and price of the room is what got me to book a second stay. The rooms are clean.
Review 8:Could have had a refrigerator. I also didn't like the people in the lobby sneezing all over the place and not covering their mouths.
Review 9:Close to show and activities I wanted to do. Staff was awesome.
Review 10:the woman at the information spot had an arrogant attitude that we didn´t like and was not helpful at all... the breakfast was very poor
Review 11:great location, comfortable bed, free WiFi
Review 12:The only negative was the elevators. The staff used the same elevators with the housekeeping buggies or collected trash buggies. Elevators small to begin with and unusable with those buggies.
Review 13:A block from times square one way and 5th ave the other. Large rooms, friendly staff.
Review 14:We drove around for 2 hours trying to find a parking spot. We drive atruck and no parking garages would take out vehicle because they said itwas too big so we drove for 2 hours and finally a man gave us his spotfor $60!!! Will never stay here again.
Review 15:Close to Times Square and Rockefeller
Review 16:Bath mat was stained. Wish there was creamer at the breakfast buffet & sugar at the kiosk (only artificial sweetener at the kiosk)
Review 17:Location was great...close to many attractions
Review 18:Small room, but to be expected in NYC!
Review 19:We really enjoyed our stay. I feel like we got a lot for our money compared to other hotels nearby. Will stay again. Pros are free wifi, breakfast, location and price.
Review 20:The carpet and bedspread were dirty. They were very stingy with the towels and the coffee in the room (only enough for one person). We had a view of a brick wall out the window.
Review 21:The location was good. The breakfast was good.
Review 22:One small elevator led up to our section of the hotel. There were lengthy waits.
Review 23:Perfect location and pleasant staff. Very comfortable lobby, clean room, good breakfast buffet.
Review 24:Very clean. And I'm picky! I make my family wait outside while I do a roach and bed bug check. This hotel came out clean! Mattresses were very comfortable. And continental breakfast was good. And coffee/ coca machine is a nice bonus ( 24/7) Location is perfect. I will defiantly stay here again.
Review 25:My bedroom has a water leak, it was minor but it looks horrible and it was very very small. The parking is a garage infront and price is $40 a day, is not bad for the area but is the same price as a regular parking in the area.
Review 26:The staff is great specially a girl at the front desk, i forgot her name but she is latina, might be centroamerican, she was alone on christmas day but she was rocking the front desk, I had an issue she solved it and also gave me my bedroom before 3 pm, location is awesome if you want to go to time square, breakfast is ok, hotel in general is good for the price.
Review 27:The first reception guy who checked us in was very sullen, jut gave us our room key and didn't have anything to smile about. We were very excited about our first stay in New York and it would have been nice to have received at least a smile. We also gave this guy a cheery 'hello' in the morning but was ignored.....shame really as all the other staff were fantastic, including Elizabeth in the rooftop bar, the cleaners, the girls on reception, the security staff and the breakfast room guy who keeps everything running so well.
Review 28:Excellent location, only a couple of blocks away from Times Square, Broadway, The Rockefeller Centre, 5th 6th 7th Avenues for shopping, a subway station, Grand Central station and an easy walking distance to central park. We were really glad of the continental breakfast, this had a great choice and really set us up for the day. We were also grateful for the tea/coffee/hot choc machine in reception that we could use 24 hours a day.
Review 29:Tourist information desk, don't buy anything there, I asked for the price of a taxi to Airport and they were charging the doble of the real price! They also weren't aware of some of the main tours (like The Ride)
Review 30:Personal Reception, Kitchen Staff, Location,Cleannes excellent, also let us check-in earlier and breakfast, we appreciated it.
Review 31:everything was good.no dislikes.
Review 32:Location excellent, free breakfast good choices, tea and coffee free in reception area handy when returning in evening.
Review 33:Water in the sink would not drain. Water in the shower drained very slowly.
Review 34:The cleanliness of the room. Rooms were quiet.Great location.Bed was comfortable.
Review 35:Poor breakfast, linen and towels not 100% clean, linen not ironed at all, thin walls between rooms so you can hear the discussion in the next room.
Review 36:Great location, very close to Times Square and Rockefeller Center.
Review 37:The only thing was that the room was on the 14th floor. Only 1 elevator,we had to wait a bit for it. People coming out of the 14th floor Bar were noisy, thank God we were still awake. You can add to the breakfast every other day some proteins besides cream cheese.
Review 38:The location was excellent. Staff, facilities, clean, view from the window, can't complain. Overall out of 10 I give the hotel a 9.Service for busses. airport shuttle, excelent.
Review 39:Nothing really. It very much suited our purpose. The hotel is above basic. Good beds, bathroom and clean and warm. The rooms are not big but we only slept in the room, we went to see New York.
Review 40:Great location, very clean, comfortable beds, warm with lots of hot water. It's not a four star hotel but it was a great building with very polite helpful staff.
Review 41:A particular server in the breakfast room on our days 1 and 2 was pouty & complained that "this is a very thankless job." He was grouchy & his face showed it. Bananas starting to get over ripe.
Review 42:The location was great, the beds were very comfortable indeed. The front desk people were lovely.
Review 43:Room was right next to the elevator so heard everyone coming and going.
Review 44:My visit was terrific, staff was very friendly and helpful, and easy walking distance to Times Square and Rockefeller Plaza.
Review 45:We were on the 7th floor which meant we had to use the ONE back elevator. It meant crowded cars, long waits. How do you get to stay in the front where there are 2 elevators? Do they put everyone who books with Booking.com in the back? Also, mattresses need replacement, bedskirts were dirty, carpets were stained. Needs a bit of TLC
Review 46:Location is great. Breakfast was a nice bonus, especially in NY. Very International clientele
Review 47:Limited breakfast items. Would like to see at least boiled eggs, even a hot breakfast bar.
Review 48:The front desk clerk, especially the one when checking in. He was very courteous and helpful.
Review 49:The hotel did not have a room for us! I called and confirmed a week in advance and at 8 pm the night of our reservation they had a "leak" in which a few of their guests needed to be relocated. I only found this out after calling again to confirm when we got into the city. We chose this hotel on location and we ended up in a fine hotel but in the wrong direction from where we were going. We then had to take the subway everywhere instead of walking. Look at the other reviews, other people have mysteriously had trouble not having a room for them either. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere!
Review 50:They successfully relocated us.
Review 51:Crew at lobby was not the friendliest. Allowed a person to cut in front of me as I was waiting for check in. A smile and greeting can go a long way.
Review 52:Great location.
Review 53:The breakfast room and food was not very appealing.
Review 54:Location was great. Pretty much in the center of times square and Rockefeller center. It was a cute place and we were able to check in early. The room was small, bed was very comfortable for sleeping. If you're only sleeping and enjoying the city it's a great price.
Review 55:We were given a smoking room when we specifically requested and booked anon-smoking room several weeks prior. Someone on the floor was smokingpot and the whole floor smelled. Security claimed they didn't smellanything but the next day the manager said they were aware of thesituation. Towels, bedding, etc stunk and I was sick the whole time dueto a smoke allergy. Could not run the heat because of the smoke smell inthe vent so the room was freezing! Wish I would have found another hotelinstead of suffering through a rough night here. Manager apologized andgave a small discount but I regret spending so much money for such amiserable experience.
Review 56:Location
Review 57:One member of the staff at the front desk was not pleasant or helpful.
Review 58:The location and having a taxi service available for pickup and return to the airport. Hector, the driver, was wonderful.
Review 59:Breakfast was kind of lame. Waffles were pre made (not great) hard boiled eggs every day (out of shell). Bagles, and stale pastry. Did not change from day to day.
Review 60:Great staff, very helpful. Good location in relation to times square.
Review 61:Waiting for the lift took some time as we were located at the far end of the hotel with access to only one lift
Review 62:Location and you had access to what you needed
Review 63:The CNN channel would not play. The screen kept coming up fuzzy and that is the main channel that I watch.
Review 64:I liked the location and the convenience. It was not a bad experience.
Review 65:We went for the Macy's Day Patade and it was so convenient to just walk to the corner! Great location, friendly and helpful staff, nice rooms, and very reasonably priced!
Review 66:An amount equivalent to one day's charge was debited from my card, two days before of my arrival without any information. Such experiences did not occur with my earlier bookings with booking.com. At the time of check-in, I offerred to pay with a different card and they immediately agreed to it and blocked the total billed amount. I expected that the initial debit will be released. However, after 10 days when I checked with my bank after returning home, I came to know that the initial amount is yet to be refunded (INR 19321.64). This is not expected. Hope to receive it quick....
Review 67:rooms cramped. even a double bed room was very small. Reception staff need to be more pleasant in their dealings rather than having a stern face
Review 68:Location is perfect
Review 69:Location, staff and price were amazing. Roof top bar was awesome. The gentleman at the front desk was so helpful. Get room 1202 you can't go wrong
Review 70:rooms are a little small, but you don't spend that much time in it. lots of trouble connecting to their wifi. not to efficient in that regard. room i had did not have any view.
Review 71:really liked the location. very close to Time Square and many other attractions. (shops, restaurants, theaters.) breakfast was a plus, nothing special but adequate for a short stay. room was clean.
Review 72:Staff at check in need to be refined! Not pleasant (except for one young man)...didn't give use any direction or help. Gave me a key sleeve but no key for the one room. Overall not friendly at all
Review 73:Close to everything; quaint; great breakfast; room was super comfy....no view but enjoyed!
Review 74:-Very small room and poor breakfast, but cannot complain with this location and price.
Review 75:-In the middle of Theater district. Safe to walk back from the theather at night. -Walking distance to Central Park, Empire State Bldg. and most of midtown sites.
Review 76:The hotel is very central 2 time square and affordable for its location the check in was efficient and the bed comfortable and room clean breakfast was an added bonus with enough 2 eat free tea Nd coffee in lobby all day I would recommend this hotel
Review 77:The concierge was not friendly once she realized that I had already purchased my Broadway tickets prior to arriving. After that she was not receptive to helping us book transportation or tours.
Review 78:The staff at the front desk were great!
Review 79:Most of the staff were very friendly and polite but others were border line rude. The lift was very slow
Review 80:The beds were great, the breakfast was great, the location was awesome
Review 81:Great hotel offering value for mo ry. Practically unheard of in NYC that a hotel includes breakfast in the price, which was very varied and plentiful. Rooms are a good size and clean everyday. Staff helpful. Brilliant location. You'd be silly not to stay there whe in NYC!
Review 82:Nothing
Review 83:Great location room was large and well appointed. The price was fair for nyc. Staff was helpful and kept the room clean. This is an older building which for us was part of the charm but was updated in rooms and common areas. Breakfast was good with real New York bagles. All in all; better than expected and would definitely stay here again.
Review 84:Shame the lifts weren't working 100%, luckily we were on only the3rd floor. Shame we didn't have a view.
Review 85:The beds were some of the most comfortable we have ever slept in. Thedécor - slightly dated in a stylish way. Pleased that we have found ahotel we would definitely stay in again.
Review 86:Computers need tech to align mouse to move normally. Breakfast room out of food at 9:45. and very crowded on Saturday...a zoo. Noisy near the elevator. Moved to another room and still can hear loud talkers in the rooms next door and all doors slamming all of the time.
Review 87:Room is enough in space and updated. Room is clean. Elevators are efficient. Hotel looks updated.
Review 88:The room had a step to get in and out of it. Nothing that says "step up" or "caution step down". I almost fell twice. Seriously - put a some sign of caution to get in and out of the room. Other than that, great!
Review 89:There is only a little window in the room.
Review 90:The location is perfect, very close to the Times Suqare and the fifth avenue. It's very convenient to take subway.
Review 91:I didn't like how the checkout lady was trying to make me spend more money than I was supposed to...and was rude about it....especially when I asked for a manager like I was trying to gypt her
Review 92:Everything except the person that checked us out
Review 93:The elevator was broken and we stayed on the 7 floor... The stairs were definitely fun!!!! Plus, the hotel charged my card twice . I wasn't pleased with this to say the least!!!
Review 94:Most of the employees were great. The location was impeccable & the price was efficient .
Review 95:I booked my four nights with Booking.com. I was very overcharged at over$300.00 a night but when I booked a fifth night through the hotel, itwas $217.00 a night I called them and they were not willing to help meor give me a refund. I emailed them a copy of the online rates and theysaid that they never got it. I think that the hotel should be aware ofthis travesty and do something about it I also missed having a microwaveand a fridge.
Review 96:I liked the smallness of the hotel and the staff. The staff was veryhelpful. Other guests were friendly and talked to me in the lobby ad inthe elevator. When I called with a problem, they sent someone right awayto take care of the problem the complimemtary breakfast was also verygood and plentiful
Review 97:Breakfast needs more variety, after 3 days of having the same options you get tired/boring of same food. Also needs more protein options not just hard-boiled eggs.
Review 98:Location is perfect for your first time in NY. Free internet was a key for planning the activities of every day. Very remarkable that I requested a late check in and the receptionist waited for my arrival at 4am!
Review 99:No refrigerator in the room Ice machine is in the lobby, we were on the 14th floor. Not much of a breakfast.
Review 100:Location was good. They have a rooftop bar which was nice. Good value.
Review 101:The breakfast room only being served by one elevator caused problems for our handicapped friend. The bathroom was small. Some of the reception staff need to smile more and deal with customers before other members of staff or maintenance without an apology for delay.
Review 102:The porter was excellent and helpful especially with our handicapped friend. The rooms were made up quickly and tidely
Review 103:The lift was slow and we stayed on the 14th floor which only one of the lifts serviced. This is a minor complaint
Review 104:Fantastic location, good sized room (for Manhattan) breakfast was adequate.
Review 105:There was an on and off drilling type noise, maybe to do with the elevator?not good.
Review 106:A Nice, big room, though the view on the oppositie wall was not inspiring..
Review 107:The street is noisy during the night so if you are a light sleeper ask for a room away from the street.
Review 108:Location is fantastic. Beds were comfortable. Couldn't hear people from other rooms only from the street.
Review 109:to costly for the tiny room and the elevators were extremely long waits for the back of the hotel where we ended up staying. Been there before but lucky enough to stay in the front section..much nicer.
Review 110:The location, an continental breakfasts
Review 111:The elderly man server at breakfast was very bad tempered! Other staff, nothing was too much trouble - they were brilliant.
Review 112:The position of the hotel to Times Square. The fact that a very good continental breakfast was included in the price.
Review 113:For the price, the room was smaller than expected and so was the breakfast. There were problems with the elevator while were there and we had to use the service elevator many times. The elevators were very small. Two people & luggage was very tight.
Review 114:The location was great--only a short walk to Time Square and the theaters we were attending. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was okay.
Review 115:Breakfast, continental cold choice served on cheap disposable plates and plastic cutlery. Additional taxes Noise
Review 116:Great location, five minutes from Time Square ideal for visiting this fantastic city. Free wi-fi Air conditioned
Review 117:All was good with the exception that the dresser was changed out during one of our days with no notice. Not happy that someone was moving our personal items. Nicely expressed our feelings that possibly this could have been handled differently.
Review 118:The location was perfect.
Review 119:Customer service, cleaniness, and general standard of condition of hotel. Also it's not at Times Square as the name implies, very misleading!
Review 120:Absolutely nothing sadly!
Review 121:A bit more variety in breakfast would be nice. An American breakfast would be very much appreciated. No view from the rooms. But. You hardly spend any time in the room so it doesnt matter much.
Review 122:Nice hotel. Well located. Clean rooms. Nice staff. A little expensive. But i guess it is the charge for the location. All the staff are very friendly and willing to help. The travel desk is good too. Never had a problem with getting a car as per requirement and on time.
Review 123:We couldn't use the safe since it was placed in a very high place in the room.
Review 124:The staff is particularly nice and friendly. The room is clean and big enough to accommodate two people and luggages. The breakfast is correct, with many options.
Review 125:They were renovating and i think thats why the elevator system was a little screwy. At least I think so. It was a pleasant stay. Didnt fall in love but didnt hate it either.
Review 126:I liked the location, it was very nice. I liked that breakfast was included.
Review 127:The rooms are very small. The breakfast is very poor and the room is too small for the amount of people staying in the hotel. the staff isn't very helpfull when questioned about NYC touristic places.
Review 128:The location is excellent.
Review 129:The elevator to our room was not working for half of our stay. The service elevator man was very kind but at $336 a nite the real elevator should work. Our room was barely big enough for 2 beds, we had a view of the fire escape and the side of a building. The fan /ac was less than adequate.
Review 130:Not much. Was close to restaurants but most hotels are.
Review 131:Location couldn't be better. Short walk to both East side subway line and West side subway line. And it is located a block away from Times Square chaos, so that hustle bustle is not in your face when you walk out on the sidewalk. Also, not many mid town hotels have continental breakfast--a great savings right there on having to go spend money on breakfast. Beds were very comfortable. Not a luxury hotel, but who spends time in a hotel when you're in New York?
Review 132:Thin walls, we could hear all the noise coming from neighbours and corridor. Staff only motivated to help with tips in general otherwise quite miserable when asked a question...
Review 133:Location and having the wifi
Review 134:WiFi was spotty. Dropped signal pretty regularly. Elevator was inoperable for a short time - staff did try to accommodate with service elevator, but that was like stepping back in time (in a bad way). Room was mostly updated but some things just seemed old (bathroom cabinets). Room was dark - only windows were blacked out and allowed no natural light.
Review 135:Location was great. Value was good relative to other properties nearby. Breakfast was adequate - nothing fancy but good enough. 24 hour coffee service in the lobby was a big plus.
Review 136:The room had a strong smell of tobacco smoke. Next time , I will ask for a different room. Our window faced into a brick wall & we had to step up to get into the bathroom.
Review 137:The location ; close to Times Square was perfect. The staff was always helpful & polite. The breakfast room was always crowded, but the man kept all the food well supplied & fresh.
Review 138:Can't beat the location! The complimentary breakfast and wi-fi were great perks. The front-desk staff; in particular Sushant and Ella, and Patricia in housekeeping were all excellent and highly commendable!
Review 139:Breakfast was average. Wifi was in and out.
Review 140:Great location! Close to Times Square and all the excitement but far enough away that you don't hear all the noise.
