Reviews for GuestHouse Mainz

Review 1:good place especially driving car, easy checkin and checkout, good breakfast(included breatsfast after checkin this time), clean and nice room, especially kitchen, staff has good smile and services.

Review 2:Couldn't change the heating settings and rooms were too hot.

Review 3:Comfortable beds and lovely soft pillows. Terrific convenient breakfast that you can take to your room or grab and go. So close to Mainz train station.

Review 4:The location was a close walk from the train station. The security and inside was very clean and contemporary. The light breakfast was plenty to start your day.

Review 5:Room quite small. Rather than have a desk, a table with 2 chairs would be more useful(no room to sit and eat a meal, in the studio apartment.

Review 6:Friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast provided. Good location, in regard to shops. Room cleaned each day.

Review 7:Close to the railroad station but not to main tourist attractions and restaurants. Walk a bit.

Review 8:Well equipped kitchenette. The exterior appearance does not do justice to the interior. The interior is thoroughly modern.. Though we were not promised a breakfast (which was as expected in a facility with in room food preparation) a breakfast of good sandwiches and other breakfast options was included.

Review 9:One improvement would be to have the electronic locks on doors to the rooms read the keys with greater reliability. I usually had to tap the keys a few to several times before the locks would open.

Review 10:Excellent location, good value.

Review 11:The elevator was terrifying! It dropped an inch when people got in and out. The breakfast room was uninviting and impersonal and the breakfast was very basic for the room price.

Review 12:The room was small but clean and modern with a nice bathroom.

Review 13:The room felt a bit cramped thanks to arrangement of furniture (I was glad I had it to myself!). The self-catering utensils were stored in high cupboards with no easy way of getting them down without a suitable chair to stand on.

Review 14:Handy for both station and city centre (10-minute walk); supermarkets and eateries close by; excellent 'free' breakfast (cereals, juice, filled rolls etc). Un-airconditioned room stayed bearable in midst of July heatwave.

Review 15:Hard to keep cool in room (although weather was pretty hot). Staff not always present.

Review 16:Big room (we'd pre-booked it specifically). Quiet. Good quality windows, blinds, furniture and fittings. Lovely bathroom. Elevator. Helpful staff. Attractive bijou garden at rear.

Review 17:Staff was amazing! Very accommodating, especially when our itinerary was unexpectedly changed. An easy walk to the train station and the sites we wanted to see.

Review 18:Perfect location, clean and tasteful design, functional interieur, friendly and helpful staff - not to forget about the complimentary breakfast and best of all: a 3-bedroom - perfect for a girls-out in Mainz

Review 19:Limited hours for the person at the fron desk. No one is there after 8pm or on Sunday. This was not a problem for us.

Review 20:Modern comfortable room. Great bathroom!

Review 21:Close to the main train station and a quick walk down delightful Neubrunnen Street to the old city. Spacious, comfortable room, with a kitchenette, though I didn't use it. Full tub for soaking after walking the city.

Review 22:1) We were three, each of us received a ID and password for our wi-fi, with limited hours of action. In the evening, I used my laptop to connect Internet, but in the morning it did not let me re-connect through I-pad. The report was "too many connections", but my laptop was no longer connected. That is a limit on connection to the Internet. 2) On the morning man in the kitchen said us that our breakfast was included but girl at the reception said "no" (dining room and reception are the same hall). Therefore, it is not clear payment. As a result, we were not given breakfast, but they took the money. 3) But the worst thing was when our departure.Nobody was on the reception and no one could help us to call a taxi. Firstly, we did not have a taxi phone numbers, and we speak only English. We have been asking for help from the cleaners-lady. One Polish cleaning lady wanted to help us. But she did not know the phone number of the taxi. The second worker began to shout at us that she is German and no other language does not understand. In spite of Polish lady translated her our request , this German girl still screaming that she did not understand that she is German and "I will not call a taxi for you!". It's very good, we are very glad that you are Germans, however, when we paid the money, no one shouted to us that our money is not German. Why is that? As a result, we were helped by the Turkish guy (the seller of small store). Impressions of the most terrible. Please learn your stuff to be more tolerate.

Review 23:Location is good (close to Rail Way station and City Center). Interesting and pretty good furniture, kitchen, modern bathroom, windows. High-tech equipment: reading lamp lights up at the touch of your hands, radio mounted into wall and so on

Review 24:The bed was really too soft for me, ended up with a terrible backache.

Review 25:Didn't expect a breakfast in a self-catering guesthouse, but there was one and if basic, it was still pretty good. Location was good for catching buses, trams and trains & moving about the Mainz-Wiesbaden area.

Review 26:Since the room did not have air conditioning, we had to open the widows or it would get very stuffy. When the windows were open it was extremely noisy. We had to open the widow or it was too hot to sleep. Therefore, we didn't get a good night sleep.

Review 27:The room was very clean and when the windows were closed very quiet.

Review 28:I had stayed there before and paid a more reasonable rate and didn't notice that they had hiked their price by 30% due to a meeting in Frankfurt. I also made a mistake when booking so they charged me for an extra day, but never mentioned it to me at the time I was checking out. I accept that I had to pay it, but I gave them the correct date when I checked in and and no point did they mention the mistake, they just charged me extra.

Review 29:The property is really nice, the facillities are excellent and clean.

Review 30:It's not the fault of the hotel, but a king bed made up of two twin sized beds is difficult to sleep on. Somebody always ends up in a crack between the mattresses. Also, the pillows being large and square and very floppy means chasing them all over the bed all night. Also, since we were at the Guesthouse for a total of 7 nights, something different in the mornings for the complimentary breakfast would be nice. Toward the end we went to the grocery store for bagels and cream cheese, yogurt and fruit, and kept it in the room's fridge.

Review 31:Not having a car during our stay in Mainz Feb 13-16 and Feb 19-22, it was great to have just a 5 minute direct walk to the train station. From there you can go anywhere! We didn't miss the car nor trying to find parking! The staff at this hotel is very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and transportation, speaks excellent English and was very accommodating. They held our large luggage while we went on a 2-night to Switzerland which was very helpful. We also requested a larger room for the second 3 night stay and enjoyed it a lot more than the first room we had. I actually thought I had booked the larger room to begin with however, but didn't know there were larger rooms until I asked. The kitchenettes were very nice and although we didn't cook, we appreciated the refrigerator, sink and complimentary coffee with pot.

Review 32:Would have liked another bath towel in the bathroom - only one supplied plus a face towel. Not keen on small duvet on bed - would have preferred larger

Review 33:Room was quiet, well equipped , clean and modern. Nice bathroom and shower. Big fridge including mini-bar drinks Guesthouse isn't a full hotel - ie no 24 hr reception service, no restaurant, no room service. But I guess that is why the prices are cheaper. If you don't want a full-service hotel then this is a good option with the added benefit of your own cooking facilities

Review 34:Staff on duty on weekend only in the morning.

Review 35:The room was very clean. Nice big bathroom. Continental breakfast was included which was not mentioned in website....nice surprise.

Review 36:Parking was a a nighmare for the first three nights, afterwhich I was given one of the two parking spots available in front of the hotel which made things easier.

Review 37:Staff was courteous and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Wifi worked as advertised. Location was great, a lot of dining options within 5-10 minute walking distance.

Review 38:There really is not much to dislike about this hotel.

Review 39:We prefer to stay in Mainz when in central Germany instead of the larger Frankfurt. And this hotel is in easy walking distance to/.from the Hauptbanhof and Altstadt. You can stay here and jump on a train easy for any day-trips around the Rhine.

Review 40:The key cards for accessing the room worked every time for the external door but only intermittently for the door to the room where we were staying. However management were very helpful when it did not work.

Review 41:The bathroom facilities were exceptionally good. Although there were a large number of guests staying, the rooms were very quiet.

Review 42:The room was small. The seating area that we thought was in our room was actually in the lobby. Our room faced the busy street and was very noisy.

Review 43:We chose this hotel first, because it was near the railway station and second, because we thought our room had a seating area.

Review 44:The street noise is a real problem when the weather is warm and the windows must be open. Even a room fan would help by circulating the air better and providing white noise.

Review 45:The location is great. The rooms are very attractive. The breakfast is delicious.

Review 46:I wish the rooms were air-conditioned to deal with the heat of the summer cos opening the windows let in all the noise from the busy road outside.

Review 47:The location was great, a walking distance to everything - shops restaurants, city-centre etc. The staff get the greatest kudos from me, they were extremely helpful with information on how to get around and we're quick to respond to every request.

Review 48:No air conditioning during hot summer days could be alleviated by automatically provide by a fan for each room.

Review 49:The location was great, the main railway station was just around the corner from the hotel. I asked for a fan because the hotel had no air conditioning and in less than five minutes the girl at the front desk brought me a great fan,

Review 50:Breakfast was good, small selection. Good to get you going quickly. No convenient parking if you have a car. No staff after 8 p.m., so watch your arrival time.

Review 51:Everything was remodeled and clean in the room. The bath was very large and modern. The beds and pull-out sofa were comfortable and accommodated 3 adults. A small kitchen with a refrigerator was in the room. Free Wifi in room. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 52:Room was hot and it there was a lot of traffic noise outside. The fridge was not very cold and kitchen facility tiny.

Review 53:comfortable beds, nice bathroom, convenient location for station.

Review 54:Good location and all staff are so nice!

Review 55:None

Review 56:Excellent Value with a much higher level of modern facilities than most German guesthouses.

Review 57:clean,quiet and good transportation

Review 58:Very nice, clean room with a great kitchenette. Well located.

Review 59:The room and bathroom looked new and were clean. The location was good and within walking distance to the old town.

Review 60:Large bathroom

Review 61:clean so comfortable staff warm and welcoming and there was a breakfast included

Review 62:Breakfadst

Review 63:The Location

Review 64:Like stepping into Ikea; room sqeaky clean and very organized. Small but space for everything.

Review 65:Room needs fans in it. To hot to keep windows closed to noisy outside to have them open.

Review 66:Beautiful place. Nice central location.

Review 67:So clean with beautiful German made fixtures to make every space very useable !

Review 68:Some street noise

Review 69:Cheap

Review 70:Expensive for Mainz region, and it is not a true apart-hotel, only a hotel room with equipment to cook.

Review 71:The rooms and clean and well design.

Review 72:The beds were quite hard and the room was very hot as there was no air conditioning

Review 73:Size of room and the fact that it had a kitchen.

Review 74:Very grumpy staff...

Review 75:Air conditioning wasn't working & it was very hot.

Review 76:Location was good. Walking distance to old town.

Review 77:There is a plastic mattress protector that just makes you sweat when you sleep on it. Would be a bonus if they offered shower caps

Review 78:Everything.

Review 79:nothing

Review 80:Good location, comfortable room, good service, clean.

Review 81:The elevator was not working some days which was terrible considering the room was on the 6th floor and I had to carry the luggage.

Review 82:Free breakfast.

Review 83:Clean, spacious and modern room. Very close to Old City and train station.

Review 84:Would have preferred a double mattress instead of two single ones

Review 85:very small breakfast selection

Review 86:Comfortable room, clean, quiet, big

Review 87:Next to room, a little noisy.

Review 88:Very good location and kitchen, nice staff.

Review 89:Excellent breakfast included very friendly and helpful

Review 90:The breakfast selection is limited.

Review 91:No reception 24 hours

Review 92:Car parking

Review 93:lack of air conditioning during a heat wave

Review 94:location and helpful staff

Review 95:Nothing

Review 96:Very modern, spacious, clean and quiet. Kitchen very well equipped. excellent location.

Review 97:It's a pity that the place has no own parking place, although there is a public parking possibility within 4 mins walk.

Review 98:We were amazed by the place. Modern, clean, comfortable, nice and tidy bathroom, stylish interior, friendly staff, excellent wifi signal. Way better than we expected. They did not promise, but offered free breakfast of excellent quality. Located in the center, near the railway station, transportation possibilities are excellent.

Review 99:The lack of air conditioning. My room got a bit hot during the day. In addition, I was woken up between 6 and 7 AM by workmen banging on the roof above my head!

Review 100:The location is good, near the train station and an easy walk into the center of the city. The staff was extremely pleasant, helpful and accommodating. The rooms were modern and spotlessly clean.

Review 101:We paid an extra night om full, even though we were leaving late afternoon and needed a rest before our long flight home. This was not possible as there were building works going on while the whole time we were there and they commenced at 6am of the day we paid the extra for. Property was not happy to consider a refund for portion of extra monies paid.

Review 102:Great location. Well kept property

Review 103:Noise from the next building since it is under construction.

Review 104:New and clean, close to the Mainz station and the central. Friendly staff. The restaurants the receptionist recommended were very good.

Review 105:Staff are very friendly and helpful. The fresh bread rolls/coffee and pastries daily is extremely thoughtful. The people staying in the apartments can avail of the lovely Terrace.

Review 106:Very little. It's not a hotel so doesn't have 24-hour staff. They are on 7am-8pm I think. All courteous, mostly positively warm. We would have appreciated more pastries at breakfast (because they were very nice, and we were far from first down so 2 out of 3 days there was only 1 left between us).

Review 107:Very clean, well-appointed room (202), which housed 3 people comfortably. My two teenage boys were very impressed, and immediately said how great it was. We're lucky enough to have stayed in some pretty cool places, so this was praise indeed. We liked the bathroom and I cooked dinner in the neat kitchenette one evening too. Best of all for my sons was the iphone dock linked to speakers in the ceiling. Breakfast was simple but good.

Review 108:In the front you cannot open the window because of traffic noise. Not a problem in winter but maybe in summer.

Review 109:Location, cleanliness and reasonable comfort.

Review 110:Actually nothing, except that it's difficult (or expensive) to find a space to park the car.

Review 111:Very spacious, clean and comfortable room with all amenities. Wonderful bath room. Well equipped kitchenette. Very good free WiFi. Our room (502) was rather calm, with the window opening to the yard - not sure whether this is also true for the rooms facing the street. No a/c - might be a problem in summer time. Located close to the city centre, with lots of restaurants and bars around.

Review 112:Good sized, comfortable room for three adults. Kitchen facilities as advertised. Surprise free breakfast each morning in the lobby - this was good value. Close to public transport and the station. Easy to get to the highlights of the city from here.

Review 113:Parking was a bit tricky but worked out ok.

Review 114:relaxed and extremely helpful and accomodating , staff was very helpful. simple and convenient location in the center of Mainz

Review 115:I liked the hotel very much. Unexpectedly great room with splendid view on the cathedral without asking :) Very kind and smilng stuff always ready to help and make your staying pleasant. One of the best inexpensive apartments in Germany. Really!

Review 116:reception did not work for 24 hours we arrived late and they only leave us key and 2 password for internet(we have 3 people every password only allow one IP-address to log in internet )..... so when you book this guesthouse don't forget to tell them how many password for internet you need

Review 117:we booked a triple room...very nice kitchen and comfortable room.everything is new... the staff was very kind let us feel like home.)))

Review 118:Nothing.

Review 119:We really enjoyed everything about GuestHouse Mainz. It was a great location, rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, and the bathroom had the best shower! Breakfast was very good with nice fresh selections. We met quite a few diverse and interesting travelers. All in all a great stay in the lovely city of Mainz.

Review 120:Could use some directions on functions in room.

Review 121:Very Clean Staff was very kind and helpfull For the first time inGermany Guest House made it easier to get around and find great meals.

Review 122:As expected

Review 123:I attend the Frankfurt Book Fair so I needed to be near the railway station. The location was good, though the city is ordinary. A good Thai restaurant near by but not much else. The hotel was good value for money as we stocked up on the breakfast with a snack for lunch. They provided paper bags for the rolls.

Review 124:the rooms are very small and the walls are very thin

Review 125:The staff was really friendly and even tho the breakfast was very simple it was a good start into the day

Review 126:Brand new apartment, clean & very comfortable, well equipped kitchen, fast & self-service check-in, breakfast, Central position, wi-fi connection.

Review 127:Brand new hotel, very comfortable and includes a nice breakfast (which they call a "snack" - which implies the little german sandwich is pre-assembled instead of you assembling one yourself, and its fresh!).
