Reviews for Hotel San Gabriele

Review 1:Location is convenient but not very picturesque (if you are looking for a view).

Review 2:Very friendly accomodating staff. Beautiful concept -- a new building designed as an old monastery. Executed perfectly. Breakfast: good variety (might have benefited from a few more items such as smoked fish) and excellent quality.

Review 3:In an out of the way location.

Review 4:Really nice Hotel. Very charming rooms, with a "monastic" feel. Breakfast was very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 5:The wifi wasn't working for our entire stay. The rooms were a little overpriced.

Review 6:The rooms had lots of character. The breakfast was excellent value.

Review 7:The breakfast area I felt was the biggest flaw with the hotel. It is quite small and felt very cramped when it was busy with everyone getting breakfast. I can't help but feel the breakfast area is too small considering the size of the hotel, the addition of some hot food would have been nice too but then again not essential. The one other minor negative was that it was very warm. I suppose you can't expect air conditioning in a converted monastery, but it was very hot even with the windows open and a fan on.

Review 8:Hotel San Gabriele was a lovely place to stay. It appears from some of the photographs to almost be in the middle of nowhere but it is in fact within a quiet residential area. While this is no issue at all, I thought it might be worth highlighting. Upon arrival there was ample parking directly out front of the hotel and also additional spaces round the back. The staff were all lovely and very helpful. They all were fluent in English - which is helpful when our German is so poor! The hotel room itself was amazing, very unique and quite large. It had a 4 poster bed and stairs up to a private cosy alcove style seating area which is ideal for some late night drinks. The room also had a decent size mini bar with a few nice beers ;) It's worth noting that the restaurant is excellent! Had easily one of the nicest meals of our whole trip here. Definitely worth a visit.

Review 9:No complaints at all!

Review 10:The hotel itself is extremely pleasantly designed, convenient location close to the highway and 5 minutes to downtown. Excellent restaurant and breakfast. WiFi worked really well and the staff was very pleasant, especially at the restaurant for dinner. Parking area is plentiful and convenient.

Review 11:-breakfast was too crowded, had to wait in line at the buffet -parking was not easy, had to move the car twice +/- balcony was great to have but didn't feel safe to walk on

Review 12:Went there for our anniversary and it was a hit. Was able to order flowers and faux roses petals. +waterbed in room +great soaps and shower accessories +restaurant was wonderful, was able to order a menu with all courses included. + rooms very quiet and restaurant staffed dressed as monks was a great touch

Review 13:Wi-Fi connection poor. Could not connect in room at all, had to go into the hall to use.

Review 14:Unique atmosphere and ambiance Breakfast was a great spread and good value Sleep well on a comfortable bed

Review 15:A curtain on the small window in the bedroom would keep out the morning light. Tinted/frosted window in the bathroom would allow more privacy. A selection of gluten and lactose free products for breakfast could be included.

Review 16:Easy to find off the main road even for late arrivals. Free, accessible parking. Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Quiet, comfortable rooms with firm, warm beds. Delightful medieval theme carried throughout the hotel in a simple yet effective way. Abundant breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.

Review 17:The building itself is a surprising remake of an ancient monastery, but: the location is weird, somewhere between a supermarket and a residential area, far away from downtown and: they are suffering from a serious lack of space in the common areas, e.g. breakfast room: way too narrow and noisy

Review 18:Once I had changed from a single to a double room, I had a pleasant and spacy room with good daylight. ( The single would have been pretty small with a narrow bed and very little daylight

Review 19:A hotel is very charming. Nice and friendly stuff. Restaurant is mostly with Italian food and very good selection of wine.

Review 20:Beautiful bathroom! Great adjoining restaurant. Fun monastery theme! Nice stop outside if Munich on way to Austria.

Review 21:Nothing

Review 22:Everything

Review 23:The hotel was in the center of the small street and nothing to see except supermarket.

Review 24:Receptionist were very kind and helpful!

Review 25:The lack of aircon, that in hot summer days become unbearable and very difficult to stay in the rooms

Review 26:All the rest, location, food, staff...

Review 27:Hot weather airconditioning missing

Review 28:Real nice ambiance atmosphere

Review 29:No Internet Connection

Review 30:Room 114 No connection to Internet Wifi.I was 1,5 Hour at 23.00 midnight in Brekfast Room to check my Mails.

Review 31:Bed too small , poor Wi-Fi and GSM reception.

Review 32:Nicely renovated , good value for money , quiet location , nice restaurant

Review 33:Style and comfort of hotel

Review 34:Sourroundings are not spectacular

Review 35:Architecture, breakfast

Review 36:Hotel forniture are funny, quality of service , all related to the fantastic location

Review 37:Though the hotel was built new, they have recreated a genuine atmosphere. I even love the lift doors!

Review 38:I stayed in the single room but have stayed in the double rooms before and have the same problem. I wish there were more towels . If you shower in the evening, the towels stay wet for your morning shower as there is only 1 set. Plus there is also only 1 pillow. Yes it states you can ask for more but why dont they just put hem in the room because you are already in bed by the time you realise there is only 1 pillow . Bed is ok a little hard

Review 39:The decor is beautiful , it gives you a sense of relaxation after a long days work. Its also has a great restaurant within the hotel.. Freindly staff, very clean rooms

Review 40:Some of the staff in the restaurant were not very friendly, which was disappointing.

Review 41:We stopped here on the way to a skiing holiday in Austria. Its a lovely hotel with a restaurant. Very comfortable rooms with and interesting history, it was once a monastery and the rooms in the converted monks cells. Very atmospheric.

Review 42:It's a bit of a wall to the old town but manageable. No staff was present upon my arrival. I had to wait close to 10 mins before someone came to help me check-in. The door fob is neat, but it took some time to figure out. Some instruction would have been useful. Everything else was excellent! Highly recommended.

Review 43:Ambience of the hotel and restaurant was amazing. Great food at the restaurant. Very clean.

Review 44:Staff could be a bit warmer, especially in the restaurant. Needs a baror lounge area to relax in.

Review 45:A very quirky and unusual hotel, tastefully done with all amenities.Convenient parking. It was a stop off point for us en route to Austriaso not much exploring was done.

Review 46:We didn't like the fact that it was so close to an industrial estate and that there was nowhere nearby to go for a nice walk (without getting in the car). They have no garden and so our view during dinner was of cars parked 5 metres from where we were sitting. We didn't like the fact that the hotel pretended to be a converted monastery. This (including the staff dressed up as monks) all seemed very silly.

Review 47:Good food. We were there during extremely hot weather and we were concerned about lack of air-conditioning. However, because of the very thick walls, the heat was manageable.

Review 48:This is the sixt time we have stayed at the hotel and it just keeps the quality completely. The building, the rooms, the restaurant and the service. We will be back for sure. Hopefully at christmas.

Review 49:Parking space not enough!

Review 50:Very original hotel. Big, clean, specially decorated rooms. Very good Italian restaurant in the hotel.Try the Vitello Tonato!

Review 51:no air conditioning inside of the rooms - we went there while a great heat wave hit the region with 37°C - but fortunately we got a shady room on northern side where trees were spent shadow to the room

Review 52:All was great - staff very pleasant and helpfull staff, rooms are unique for their medieval design but fitted with nice comfort. Breakfast very tasteful, fresh and varied - we can sincerly recommend this hotel that worth its disvocery

Review 53:I would have liked the restaurant food of the same quality of the excellent breakfast.

Review 54:It really was amazing what people made of this "monastery". All of the interior was handcrafted including the wall frescos.

Review 55:Remake of a monastery - if you are tall you hit your head easily on all the corners in the room (we had a standard room). You can hear noise from corridor easily. We had a room on top of the kitchen - noise of radio and cleaning up till late, noise from terrace and smoking…..so ask for a room not above kitchen and away from terrace! No space to put your toiletry bag in bathroom.

Review 56:very nice breakfast buffet, location a bit outside of Rosenheim in quiet residential neighborhood - but don't expect any nice views, countryside. Practical if you are on a business trip.

Review 57:A really wonderful hotel renovated to an extremely high standard. Therooms were spacious and the bathroom lixurious The staff were helpful. The restaurant was also excellent . Breakfast was lhe best we have hadin an hotel. Quality for the price was incredible.

Review 58:Confusion in booking it.

Review 59:This place was very unique. Designed like a monastery with rustic wouldfurnishings unique bathrooms, staff dressed like monks, etc. Therestaurant was great as well. It is not cheap but reasonable for whatyou get and cheaper than similar lodging in Munich.Easy to get to from the Autobahn

Review 60:The restaurant is OK but nothing special, just a run-of-the-mill Italian restaurant, the kind you find on every continent these days. When I am in Germany, I would prefer traditional German food.

Review 61:Thick walls (formerly monastery) - traffic noise completely filtered out.

Review 62:Just bit far from the city, for me is not a problem.2.5km from maybe, take the taxi to the central is around 8.5euros,also can take the bus, half an hour one bus,1.5euros,also it is ok.

Review 63:Staff are really really nice, service is good.i had many times dinner in Italian restaurant ,food is wonderful .breakfast is perfect, service is good.and the price is really good.i think tourists should try this hotel.

Review 64:The hotel was amazing! I was in complete aww for most of the stay. They've done every part of the hotel up stunningly! Our room was MUCH more than was expected. We would absolutely stay again!

Review 65:the hotel staff wore costumes that gave the hotel an "over the top" feel.

Review 66:the location was great for us because we were not going into town and were more concerned with easy access to the autobahn for our day trips to other cities. The hotel was quaint(being an old monastery). The onsite Italian restaurant was good and we went to it both nights because we did not feel like going into town after our day trips.

Review 67:The hotel was so much more than advertised. The overall concept anddesign were well executed and made the stay that much more enjoyable. The room was large and sunny, with a beautiful bathroom and quirkydetails in the room (ours had a nook/nave with a small table and bench). The dining room was unusual as it had the same overall monastary feel asthe hotel including the wait staff wearing monks robes. The food anddrink were great. Breakfast in the Refectory was excellent each day westayed there. We'd stay there again and highly recommend it.

Review 68:It is a unique experience. The renovations to the Hotel are amazing. It is truly worth a visit. The restaurant experience was also a highlight. We highly recommend it. We were able to walk to the centre of town from the Hotel and it was only a short drive from Munich. Excellent parking as well.

Review 69:We stayed in a room for three so it had a bed upstairs in a loft. Words cannot describe how hot both the room and the loft were in August. We were able to get a fan from the front desk but...that room and perhaps others should have a fan in it at all times. There were some dogs outside our room (we were on top floor, dogs were at street level) and the dogs barked quite a bit. The restaurant for dinner was fair at best.

Review 70:I loved staying in the old monstery-the nooks and crannies are great. The room was very clean. The breakfast buffet was excellent and great value!! It is a must-do. The servers who worked during the breakfast time were great. Check in was very easy. Great location-close to main highway.

Review 71:Wi-fi internet doesn't work properly or at all in some rooms.

Review 72:The building is very interesting. The whole hotel concept, like an old monastery, is very pleasant. Very good price/quality ratio.

Review 73:The one downfall for me was the fact there wasn't a hotel bar. You could get a drink in the restuarant but at times they were fully booked and on another occasion they were closed.

Review 74:The San Gabriele has some of the most beautifully and at the same time quirky rooms and corridors I have ever seen. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and all that I dealt with had a good level of the English language.

Review 75:Small room for the price. No AC and it was a hot day. The rooms are a little too dark.

Review 76:Great ambience and fun place to stay! My kids really liked the medieval feel.

Review 77:Bath towels were small, thin, and smelled a bit sour. The door locks are so difficult to work that many guests need personal instruction on them. The laundry service guide in the book in my room said laundry could be dropped off at 9:00 AM for return by 9:00 PM and the desk said that was not true, that the turnaournd was 24 hours. However, they actually returned my laundry in less than 12 hours. Lack of air conditioning means you must leave the windows open all the time when it is warm, and that means that the sun comes in the window in the morning. It was not possible to see the TV from the bed.

Review 78:The hotel is a very unique building with each room having a unique layout. The furniture throughout the building is all hand made with a rustic feel to it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet had a good variety of foods.

Review 79:the location. San gabriele is situated in a street with normal houses, an environment of no meaning. To us it stays a hotel for just one night, travelling to our destination in italy.

Review 80:It's a special place because of the design. Light, natural materials, colors in harmony, candles, good atmosphere.

Review 81:Slightly more smile on the staff's face would be helpful.

Review 82:The hotel's medieval-ish interior is a truly unique experience, the rather puritan room furnishing does not lack any comfort, everything is there a that a traveler needs. Love this place.

Review 83:Atmosphere and creativity of the hotel

Review 84:I loved all the ambience and would certainly stay again.

Review 85:Friendly staff, great theming, excellent restaurant

Review 86:No sound proofing so woken by people up at 5.30am

Review 87:Beautifully decorated, excellent food, quiet area

Review 88:Excellent breakfast!! Beautiful unique hotel!

Review 89:beds and rooms quite small

Review 90:Quality/price

Review 91:Wonderful atmosphere

Review 92:Far from City center, I had a very small bathroom not suitable for double use.

Review 93:Easy access from Autobhan, nice romantic rooms, good restaurant

Review 94:Nothing to mention.

Review 95:Enjoyed the rustic style, the warmth, excellent friendly staff, and great Italian restaurant.

Review 96:Comfortable friendly good service good food

Review 97:Great Style, never seen before, absolutely unique hotel

Review 98:micro-location, no possibility for heating regulation in the room

Review 99:friendly staff, breakfast selection, interesting interior design

Review 100:Great location and nice staff

Review 101:That "old style" looks strange :-/

Review 102:The ambiance is great!

Review 103:Friendly ,romatice, relaxing, peaceful...

Review 104:Everything. This was my fourth visit.

Review 105:Too few tables for breakfast.

Review 106:Lovely design, friendly staff, excellent food.

Review 107:The immediate location didn't allow for a quiet evening stroll.

Review 108:Wonderful interior, great comfort, very friendly staff, good meal.

Review 109:The service

Review 110:The design

Review 111:there is no air conditioning in the hotel

Review 112:the hotel restaurant is convienient

Review 113:-Design -individuality
