Reviews for Kloster Maria Hilf
Review 1:Friendly and helpful staff. Calm efficiency of the organisation. The relaxing, quiet atmosphere. Simple but effective seasonal decorations. Superb choice of high quality food at all meals. The selection of magazines to read, and the cosy guest kitchen. The interesting other guests. Short walk to the town, and Baden-Baden buses.
Review 2:Credit card machine did not work. Had to find atm nearby to withdraw cash. A great inconvinience especialy because we are not familiar with the area.
Review 3:Great location
Review 4:The Kloster is overall lovely with a truly calming atmosphere. The breakfast offers a very large variety of choices and be sure to try the homemade preserves (there must have been about 8 different flavors)! The room was quite large and very clean. Had dinner at the Hotel Restaurant Sternen....the Pfannekuchen soup was delicious (ate there only because we didn't arrive in time for dinner at the Kloster). I hope to return there when I can stay for a few days, rather than just one night.
Review 5:The wifi signal in the single rooms should be fixed.
Review 6:It's a tidy, clean, quiet and beautiful place, if you want to relax yourself, this is right the place!
Review 7:WE arrived after check in had closed ... Too bad. We knew we would be late and tried to warn the property by calling but only got a telephone answering machine. The result. Everything shut at arrival and we ended up sleeping in the car outside the hotel... Maybe the booking should have spelled this out a bit extensive.
Review 8:The heater in my room did nit heat and I was very cold. Also, very far from the toilet.
Review 9:The breakfast was fantastic! It was quiet and people were friendly. Easy walk to town or train.
Review 10:Nobody had let us know that we needed to reserved a spot for dinner. We had rushed to make it on time just to be refused eventhough there were more than enough tables left to sit and more than enough food for everyone. They should really let people know this at check-in. This was a surprise we did not appreciate.
Review 11:Breakfast and dinner are buffet style and quite good. I liked that they had a few local beers and small bottles of wine available at the lobby which were payable on "honor system".
Review 12:-Woman at the reception was very rude and unfriendly. -Rooms were not heated even it was freezing outside, we were under the blankets with our jackets all night long. -Shared bathrooms were cold as well and there was no hot water during the night. -Rooms and the equipment were obsolete and they were useless. -If you are paying over 50 Euro, you have to pay it cash! It is not written in the website but they force you to do it. -It is not a hotel or a guest house, it is a church! -I would never ever go there again!
Review 13:Only the breakfast.
Review 14:The bed wasn't very comfortable, slightly too short for a 190cm man. Also, they had the largest pillows I have ever seen. But I spent just one night and it didn't disturb too much.
Review 15:Good friendly staff, very nice breakfast, parking available, interesting atmosphere in a monastery. Room was spacious, very good value for the price, paid just 25 euros for a single room.
Review 16:Was not aware of the additional payment for wifi (5 euros)
Review 17:Very nice kloster, peaceful environment and friendly personnel. Easy to reach from highway, in small village.
Review 18:Everything was what we expected.
Review 19:Very clean, peaceful and relaxing. Great selection for breakfast and good evening meal. Friendly staff. Excellent location for us.
Review 20:The door is locked after 22:30h and I had to "save" my husband, who had an evening walk in the park.
Review 21:It is a peaceful place, with wonderful park and surroundings. We liked the quiet and relaxing atmosphere and the kind staff. Personalized service - there was a special table on breakfast, reserved only for our party (we were a small group). The rooms were surprisingly large and light. All the atmosphere was beautiful!
Review 22:Internet for 5€ extra! It's just rediculuous! No soap, no dush gel or shampoo. Smell of car air freshner in room. Too much rooms for one shared toilet.
Review 23:Nice, clean, comfortable. Very good breakfast. Good price.
Review 24:Ok, it is cheap, but I had to pay 5 eur more for the WiFi at 23.30 thatdidn't work at all and day after I left early. Then, you can'tpay with credit card less than 50 eur, but it is not written anywhere.
Review 25:- this facility has numerous signs asking clients not to steal, a rather uncommon message for a christian institution - the dinner for 9 euros was cold and not fresh - staff was unfriendly and rather busy - wifi costs 5 euro per day
Review 26:- price of euro 30 including breakfast unbeatable - location is very quiet and within well-maintained gardens
Review 27:The room was neat, clean, and simple. Sink in the room, shared shower and bathroom down the hall- not a problem for us. Beautiful grounds and friendly staff. The breakfast was the best of all the lodging during our trip. We ended up buying some of their home made jam, it was that good!
Review 28:Rooms did not have toilets (however it was mentioned in the offer). The rooms were little bit cold (in winter).
Review 29:Kloster Maria Hilf has an excellent ration of quality vs price. The rooms were nicely decorated and spacious, breakfast was amazing and the location of the monastery was perfect. It even had a very good free private parking space. I highly recommend Maria Hilf to anyone who is traveling through or just wants to spend couple of days around the area.
Review 30:Difficult to orientate if you arrive after dark. Signage might be clearer?
Review 31:A most attractive, atmospheric place to stay. Good breakfast with a wide choice of cheeses, meats and homemade jams. We had a lovely chance meeting with one of the elder sisters. For us a stay in what is still primarily a religious institution was a bonus.
Review 32:Not much english spoken so you will need to try out your german. We ate in on one evening - the meal was a little strange - mostly cold salad type stuff - my good lady liked this but I was looking for something hot and substantial after 5hrs cycling. Plenty of places to eat in Buhl though.
Review 33:Location, facilities, cleanliness, breakfast, overall value for money. Somewhat unusual to be greeted by nuns. We had an ensuite comfort room which was fine - pretty basic but had everything you needed -just like any hotel room.
Review 34:the chuch bell ringing at 630am
Review 35:very clean quite and comfortable , and the nuns singing in the morning and the convent seem to keep the drunken louts away
Review 36:Everything was great except for the absence of bathroom with toilet in the room.
Review 37:There was a very special atmosphere. Silent, clean and with very good breakfast.
Review 38:Easy to find with the nuns manning the gate to guide us to reception. A lift was a bonus and our twin room clean and comfortable. An easy walk to town for shopping/eating. A good buffet breakfast oh and secure parking.
Review 39:- Poor beds and sleeping conditions - Poor breakfasts - WC and showers are joint for the whole floor and when somebody use it you hear it
Review 40:+ Very cheap but I would not use it again + Good location + Beautiful garden + Friendly staff
Review 41:Loved it all!!!
Review 42:Far exceeded our expectations.stayed 2 nights & had dinner too €9 ! Wine & beer v reasonable.we loved it.staff excellent & couldnt do enough to help.they speak v gd english.v relaxing wish we could have stayed longer!
Review 43:Internet connectivity: awful. If asked to pay for connectivity, one expects better, faster and more reliable service. While LAN/WIFI is available on all premises, the bandwidth is inadequate and the router is often cluttered and not maintained properly.
Review 44:Breakfast Smiles
Review 45:Everything was perfect. And not a problem not having your own toilet/dusch - it was so clean anyway, the ones we had access to.
Review 46:We liked the atmosphere in Kloster Maria Hilf a lot. Our teenagers loved the silence there and found it such a lovely place. And indeed it is. Adding to the atmosphere was the singing and the organ you could hear from the chapel early in the morning. We will definately return to this charming place. The surrounding garden is also a nice place to spend some time.
