Reviews for Hotel Lago del Desierto

Review 1:Nothing.

Review 2:The Staff was amazing. They always greeted us with a big smile, eagerly helped us with bags. They gave us guidance about the town. They even gave us free propane tanks for the backpack saving us USD$20. I had accidentally left my credit card at a restaurant the previous night and had to check out of the hotel for my backpack. The person at the front desk (I think his name was Diego) volunteered to retrieve it from the restaurant once it opened, which he did and had it waiting for me when I returned. Breakfast was good. The rooms were clean and big.

Review 3:rooms, breakfast, location, and especially staffs are all great! probably the honestest staff we've ever seen during the special transit period (in terms of currency exchange control) in Argentina.

Review 4:The common space was not particularly warm or cozy; which was only an issue when the weather kept us inside for a day.

Review 5:The staff was wonderful, the beds comfortable, breakfast was good and there was plenty of hot water for showers.

Review 6:The tiniest bathroom I've ever saw. Don't drop your piece of soap — you won't be able to bend to pick it up. WiFi — forget about it. Though, to be fair, the whole town was cut of for many hours.

Review 7:Location, beds, very helpful staff. Could order a boxed lunch, get a cup of tea after hours, help with anything.

Review 8:Breakfast was very basic and not filling, our bedroom did not have a heater and was cold at night

Review 9:Friendly and helpful staff, large bedroom, good wifi, great location, clean property, ability to purchase food onsite

Review 10:While the hotel does not look like much on the outside, it's very cozy and friendly on the inside. It's charming in its own way as you see on the pictures, and was always clean and offered all we expected and needed. We have very much enjoyed our stay and have always felt well-taken care of. The staff has been very welcoming and provided great assistance for whatever we needed. The hotel is perfectly located, breakfast was what you expected with a little surprise each day. We would totally recommend this hotel!

Review 11:A very comfortable hotel with large rooms and amazing views. Breakfast was ample and staff offered scrambled eggs on the mornings of our long treks. Bright and spacious areas to meet other travellers.

Review 12:Very Nice and helpful staff, great location in the center and close to the bus station. Rooms are clean and worm, breakfast is testy and the view is amazing :)

Review 13:Le chemin d'accès à l'hôtel pourrait être goudronné ou amélioré pour passer avec une valise à roulettes.

Review 14:Friendly personal. Quiet room. Wifi available in the bedroom although the description said only in common areas.

Review 15:Very nice hotel , helpful and friendly staff. The central location and excellent starting position treks . Rich breakfast very good , very good price . Helena et al . Czech rep .

Review 16:This place had one latch on the windows so when massive winds hit the building at night, the windows shook and the shutter creaked and a lot of cold air came into the room like sleepy hollow.

Review 17:The lady at the front desk was very kind and discounted our stay because of the creaky, opening window problem.

Review 18:Room was clean but dingy, wallpaper was terrible. Room was very noisy. Scrambled egg bounced. Basic hotel but not basic price. Wifi basically non-existent (but poor in the whole town). Also stayed in hotel confin patagonico for exactly the same price, the difference in quality was ridiculous, confin better in every way.

Review 19:Friendly staff

Review 20:Bad wifi as it works only via satelite ( everywhere in Chaltén) so we were not able to make next bookings from there

Review 21:Friendly staff, good breakfast with eggs, many thanks to Natalia who supported to arrange a room for further nights. We could leave some luggage there during hiking. We also got the possibility to take a shower after 3 days hiking and camping, although we left already Chaltén later in the evening by bus.

Review 22:campers based next door can be noisy at night

Review 23:clean hotel, nice rooms, friendly, welcoming, helpful staff, good location close to bus station a few minutes from centre of chalten and start of treks.

Review 24:bathroom was so small that you can not clean your feet without needing to touch the wet walls with your back. When checked in, the room we go was very very smelly, as well as the whole corridor (was said that there is an alpinist staying in one of the rooms for 1 month, and he is supposed not to take shower after climbings) - I complained strongly for the smell, so finally we got a room on the other corridor which was OK.

Review 25:Location is perfect, very close to bus station as well as to all hiking trails. They allowed us to use the kitchen for some basics (boiling water for tee and instant lunch after trekking).

Review 26:Nothing really (yes, the usual "Internet is almost non-existent in El Chalten", but that is known by now)

Review 27:Staff was very helpful - suggestions for restaurants, supermarkets, where it was worth trekking and, more important, where it was not worth due to weather. Room comfortable, location perfect. Take their lunch box - is good value for money and very useful on long treks

Review 28:slow wifi but that is a trademark of the whole town

Review 29:This hotel had public spaces that gave a homely atmosphere. The rooms were of a good size and well layer out. Breakfast was excellent giving an option of scrambled eggs. Able to buy good value packed lunch suitable for hiking.

Review 30:Rooms have a small heater, what makes it a little warm this part of the year.

Review 31:Fine room with proper bed, closet and bathroom with toilet and shower. Nice public room with (slow) wifi, and free tea (delicious after a nice hike). Very friendly staff!

Review 32:poor wi-fi but at least some, it wasn't advertised as available in the first place

Review 33:Staff, the rooms were very comfortable and cosy (by this the hotel stand out from others in the same price range), nice breakfast, complimentary afternoon tea, the whole friendly atmosphere...

Review 34:Very clean room with hot water, comfortable bed, better than average breakfast, very nice people to help at the reception. I was lucky with the weather and trekking was fantastic. Hotel close to bus terminal and start of Laguna Torre trail.

Review 35:Nice place with good shower and heating. The breakfast was great with buffet.

Review 36:The beds were a bit short on blankets given the cold.

Review 37:Comfortable stay, good location, nice hot shower and a great breakfast. Friendly staff.

Review 38:Internet didn't work and the staff is rude and won't let you use the kitchen

Review 39:The hotel had free breakfast, even though it was mostly carbs.

Review 40:Wifi is slow but that is for all of El Chalten I believe.

Review 41:Good location and nice room. Water was hot.

Review 42:Very helpful and friendly staff

Review 43:Helpful and friendly staff helped us with a couple of special requests. Wonderful breakfast and clean, comfortable room was more than we hoped for.

Review 44:Handy location , Standard accommodation but clean friendly and cosy.

Review 45:Natalia, the receptionist is very helpful and dedicated.

Review 46:- price

Review 47:- localisation - breakfast with eggs - personnal very nice

Review 48:On the expensive side

Review 49:Comfortable Bed Good location Decent breakfast Huge room Heating

Review 50:Room decor could be updated (floral wallpaper)

Review 51:Staff was excellent and friendly and helpful for all of our needs. Breakfast was great!

Review 52:Wifi was bad

Review 53:Super cool staff, great basis for trekking trips, good location

Review 54:The walls of the room were very thin and you could hear most activity outside.

Review 55:Staff was nice and very helpful in all ways.
