Reviews for Hotel-Restaurant Zum Deutschen Michel
Review 1:It does not accept cards. So you should bring the cash with you when you check out
Review 2:The staff was real friendly and the hotel was real quiet at night. ATM machine is less than a 2 minute walk from the hotel.
Review 3:It's not a hotel. In English terms it's a very good place to stay for digs if your working nearby. No tea or coffee facilities in room. No bar nowhere to sit with coffee or drinks etc. Just your room. But rooms where clean and efficient. More discription needed in website
Review 4:Was very clean and good continental breakfast
Review 5:The outside of the bldg is really old and shabby looking, but inside it is very ok.
Review 6:The location is perfect, half way between the train station and the main downtown area. The bed was firm, the room was clean and the price was exceptional. Despite the creaky wooden staircase, the room itself was fine and the bathroom totally new and sparkling!
Review 7:The breakfast was okay, but nothing special. Honestly, that's my biggest complaint, so really nothing to be upset about.
Review 8:Excellent value for money, very nice owner, good location. The place was quiet and the room compfy. Nothing for luxury tourists, but great for budgeting travellers who don't want to stay at a Hostel.
Review 9:Nothing
Review 10:The owner mr lykker (I hope I got it correctly) was a very kind and helpful all the time. With two kids we could get a necessary support. Good stay, it was. Only, I during very unusually hot summer days the room gets uncomfortable. Over all good value for money plus very supportive host.
Review 11:Funny smell in the bathroom, but letting the water run for a couple of minutes did the trick.
Review 12:Excellent service, first thing we had in our hands while we arrived was a cold beer. Breakfast also good for the price.
Review 13:The parking is bad in the area around hotel. Don't like the fact you have to park two streets over in parkhaus. But the option is open.
Review 14:I like the fact that it's in walking distance to hauptbahnhof, clubs, and bars.
Review 15:They need to change the name of their hotel on websites, as they already have on their sign. They no longer have a restaurant, so don't expect that. There were no toiletries or appliances of any kind (except for a TV), so bring your own or you'll be having to go to the grocery store down the road (10 minute walk). The pillows were the pretty much standard European one that are so thin that those of us that need neck support don't prefer them. I can't fault them because that's very normal in hotels, but I think future guests just need to be prepared. We just rolled them up and they were okay.It was no issue for us, but for some it may be: there is no elevator so be prepared to walk up to the second or third floor (that's the third and fourth for Americans). If the owner is not there the staff that we met spoke no English at all.Be prepared for no one to be there and having to make a call to the owner when you arrive. It was no problem for us since we live in Italy, but for travelers from outside Europe of for those that either don't have a phone plan to support calls outside, or who don't have a phone, getting ahold of the owner to get into the hotel may be more work than you want. They were pet friendly but just know that it costs €5 per night, per pet. An expense that is not listed anywhere and though I emailed the hotel several times before we arrived, I never received an answer. I have 3 small dogs and so that added €45 for my three nights. for the €225 I paid for 3 nights I would have definitely stayed elsewhere, had they ever answered my emails. I think that for the price one can get a hotel in the area with more conveniences.Lastly, every website I looked at for this hotel says that parking is available on site and is free of charge. That said, the staff that let us in told me to park on the street in front of the hotel, which I did.
Review 16:This hotel is very conveniently located in Kaiserslautern and we were able to walk everywhere (all over downtown, train station, and stadium). Being right downtown, there are many restaurants and pubs very close by for your convenience. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and the room was quiet when it came to the noises of the street. The bed was comfortable for those who prefer firm beds. They only take cash, so make sure to bring some. The owner was very willing to work with us since the site doesn't say anything about this and he let us pay on the second day after going to the ATM. The wifi was fast and strong and the Breakfast was sufficient: breads, cheeses, meats, cereal, yogurt, fruits, OJ, milk, and a selection of coffees. The owner was very helpful and speaks German and a very little English so that was helpful.
Review 17:Very noisy floorboards outside the room - perhaps on the stairwell - kept us awake into the early hours of the morning
Review 18:Breakfast was good, location good.
Review 19:The hotel's restaurant is currently closed, meaning that the premises are unstaffed. One has to call a mobile number to summon help. This would be a nightmare if someone didn't have a mobile telephone or if it was already dark or the weather was bad. Eventually, one gets a key to come in through the side entrance. The room is somewhat the worse for wear (light fitting hanging loose from the wall). Not recommended.
Review 20:Breakfast and free wifi.
Review 21:It is a bit aged, but If you don't mind older furniture it is all fine.
Review 22:Nice staff, very clean.. I stayed only for one night, but it was a good deal for reasonable money. Tasty and fresh breakfast included!
Review 23:I was not able to find the hotel. When I called for help no one spoke English. The reason I picked this place was it said they spoke English. They finally got someone that spoke broken English. When they got me to the location there was no one there. I had to stand in the wet cold for 20 min to wait for someone. When they finally arrived and let me in they showed me a key and said go up stairs you will find your room. When I got in the room a putrid odor met me. Along with the clear faCT that the room was used. The shower was wet and there were used Towles on the floor. I. Top of that the room was more of a crawl space... a very dirty one at that. I left and left the key on the back table since there was no one available to take the key.
Review 24:The hotel was two blocks from the pedestrian shopping precinct. The hotel and rooms are dated but comfortable and clean, and the owner was extremely helpful. I can recommend this hotel.
Review 25:We chose to hotel because we wanted wifi and a restaurant. But the restaurant no longer exists, and the bars in the area didn't have wifi.
Review 26:Quiet location, close to the town.
Review 27:I did not like that it was very noisy at night due to the fact that a nearby bar was playing loud music and people were screaming late at night.
Review 28:I liked the location and that the breakfast was included.
Review 29:Parking...forgot to pay the meter and received a ticket :(! Wish I was told about the meter! Completely forgot!
Review 30:They served German style Breakfast. Free WiFi! Comfortable rooms! Quiet~!
Review 31:The rooms were clean, but definitely on the small side and very basic. The breakfast was traditional German fare. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I think it is a good value for the price, but definitely a no frills hotel.
Review 32:Location, breakfast and staff.
Review 33:Could hear everything going on downstairs and outside. Made it difficult to go to sleep.
Review 34:Proximity to heart of town. Clean, breakfast provided.
Review 35:Cash payment only.

Review 37:clean room

Review 40:The location was a straight shot from the train station, classic German urban gasthaus, with restaurant below and rooms above, private bathroom.
Review 41:no soap and slipper
Review 42:Cheap and close to the station
Review 43:Comfy and well situated.
