Reviews for Townside Hostel Bremen
Review 1:The only thing was that the light in the hallway turned on every time the room's door was opened and shined right in. Also the dorm door was rather loud.
Review 2:Rather cheep for the modern interior and all the things, like storage and several electricity plugs they offer.
Review 3:Got noisy at night because of the location 1 bathroom and 1 toilet per floor, which may be a problem when hostel is full (not in my case)
Review 4:Nice neighbourhood Comfortable beds and facilities Sink and mirror in the dorm room
Review 5:unfortunatelly we had loud people in the room shouting at 6am... but not the fault of this hostel
Review 6:everything was nice. location, staff, kitchen... but the beds are the best, kind of private corridors that gives you a bit of private life even in a 10 dorm
Review 7:Buiding is not in best condition. Very small rooms. Walls are really thin and its very noisy. Just profit optimized.
Review 8:The hostal location is good. Hostel for bagpackers acceptable. Rooms are clean.
Review 9:Firstly, friendly and polite staff. Secondly, stylish ensuite room, comfy bed, great shower room and very cosy lounge . Thirdly, fantastic location, wherever you want to go, everything is so close by. Over all, super-duper! Would definitely come back again!
Review 10:The location is ok, not very great onesie
Review 11:It is a very nice and clean hostel. Even there are 12 bed sharing but each bed has a privacy space and got our own locker.
Review 12:Air conditioning in dorms was not so good, and with a window open it was sometimes difficult to sleep because of the noice from the street.
Review 13:Clean & comfortable hostel, beds in the dorms give each sleeper a bit of privacy which is nice. Own locker, functioning kitchen facilities, nice lounge, friendly staff.
Review 14:Having to make your own beds. Towel rental is not included when in a private room. Breakfast is expensive.
Review 15:The hostel is really nice, and located in a cool neighbourhood, about 15 minute walk from the historic centre. The staff were friendly.
Review 16:Great hostel not far from either the city centre or football stadium. The twin room we had was more than adequate and very clean. Shared bathrooms also very clean and modern. Great value hostel if watching the football for the weekend
Review 17:Need to walk up stairs. It is painful if you are taking heavy luggage. The bath room is too small. Choices of breakfast is limited.
Review 18:The hostel is clean and comfortable. Staff are very nice. Location is good and you can walk to city centre at 15mins.
Review 19:I've been told that reception is open 24 h so that I could check out at around 6 am, however I found the place emty at the said time
Review 20:Very clean and comfortable
Review 21:Inefficient staff. Asked to wake me up at 6 a.m. because I had to catch my bus but they didn't do it. So I risked to miss my bus. I was lucky I got it on time. But very bad experience and staff quite unfriendly when I left.Neither hello or thanks for your staying.
Review 22:Nothing.
Review 23:Well-organised team, very friendly hosts. Wonderful location for a beautiful city. Really appreciated the kindness. Also, very clean place that I have ever been.
Review 24:You can't see people that stay in a room with you, but you can still hear them. Check-in only after 2 pm. Wi-fi wasn't working properly in the room.
Review 25:Good location. Helpful staff, reception works 24/7. It's very clean in the room, toilets and showers. There's a big locker in the room.
Review 26:Only to point out something, perhaps the showers and bathroom facilities were not enough for the amount of guests. But wasn't really a problem for me.
Review 27:The price is really attractive in this place. Wonderful location for a beautiful city. Really appreciated the kindness, although my arrival time was far from the "opening hours"
Review 28:A little bit far away from the old city
Review 29:Downside hostel is clean and comfortable. They have huge closets. 'The ceiling' of bedrooms are very high and therefore there are more space on the bunk beds. (It makes you feel that you sleep in a single bed.) Also I advise their breakfast which is only 5.5€.
Review 30:My overall review of the hostel is neutral. It had some pretty good stuff, such as clean toilets and showers, but the room in itself was not up to par by any means. I personally don't understand why this hostel offered mixed dorms that big when there's not enough air ventilation to keep the room fresh for all its inhabitants. The beds were made of concrete bunk beds which blocked the room into smaller sections. These sections prevented fresh air from circulating the room naturally. Hence the air was constantly really foul (sweat, teenage hormones, whatever). Also, the inhabitants of the room didn't seem like normal travellers you come across in hostels. They seemed to have lived in the room for quite some time.
Review 31:Very clean toilets and showers
Review 32:only one toilet and shower for all guest on one floor is not much when the hostel is fully booked
Review 33:good location, very nice and helpful staff, great breakfast, very clean and well maintained
Review 34:Speed of Wi-Fi wasn't great in my room but it made me go downstairs to chat with interesting guests.
Review 35:Great Hostel for a reasonable price. Very helpful staff. Breakfast was great, a lot to choose from. My room was cleaned daily to a top standard. Hostel located very close to the town centre. I will come there again at some point in the future.
Review 36:Location was great. Staff were very helpful and extremely friendly. The common area is great for meeting people - which is wonderful if you are travelling solo.
Review 37:Just one thing that the luggage room was too small.
Review 38:Especially the room was really uniquely but nicely arranged even with terrace! Bed was comfortable, all the blankets and sheets were clean. Good location around the Viertel :)
Review 39:I had a couple of issues opening the main door with my key.
Review 40:Each room has an en suite bathroom and there is free tea and coffee in the morning for all the guests.
Review 41:The staffs there are very nice, answer me all the qusetions that I asked, help me the print my flight ticket for free. I also like the common room there, I met some amazing people there!
Review 42:It was a bit noisy because of a group of school children staying. I wish somebody could have told them to be quiet. Watch out for the low ceiling on the second floor. I hit my head.
Review 43:The staff was very friendly. The room and the facilities were fresh and clean. There was even a backyard. Lockers for each bed inside the rooms, hair dryer, adjustable heating. Free coffee and tea in the morning. Comfy beds.
Review 44:No bad experience.
Review 45:Wish every hostel would be like this one, clean, well organized bed system with own small private space (I was in the shared room), own lockers, bed linen included, separated shower, walking distance to the center and situated in the vital quarter.
Review 46:The only problem I experienced here was the guests, which is unfortunate because it isn't specifically the hostel's fault and really effected my stay and happiness during the time I was there. I often found myself surrounded by people who thought it was okay to talk and laugh very loudly at 2-5am without apology, and people who would come in at 3am and put the main room lights on and wake everyone up and generally just be loud and not courteous in any way. There were also multiple incidences of children running around the hostel, up and down the stairs, screaming and shouting. Basically chasing each other and playing. I think that steps could be taken by the hostel to address things like this. I noticed that when I was checking in I was not warned about any down-time in the hostel which I have been told in other hostels before and has helped. People need to be given simple rules such as lights out and minimal noise after 11pm. Signs up in the room to remind people to be courteous of others. It's not fair that I had to put up with such noisy and rude guests and i do think Townside could take some steps to help with this.
Review 47:It was my first time traveling abroad on my own so I was very worried that my hostel would let me down, but it did not. This hostel is SUCH good value for money. Although in a 10 bed dorm room, I felt like my sleeping area was fairly private, and very very cosy. The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. I also had a huge locker to myself which came free with the room which was amazing and really made me feel more secure ti have somewhere to put my money and valuables. The showers can often be a deal breaker, and I'm happy to say they were great too. The shower room is small with only two showers but really clean and spacious. The showers themselves are perfect. The hostel staff I dealt with on the front desk were all very helpful and friendly and kind enough to speak to me in English. The hostel also has a small shared kitchen which is great if you want to self-cater, or just keep some food and drinks cold in the fridge, or have a cup of tea. The location was good - only 2 short trans from the airport (one - 6 - to central, then the 3 to Am Dobben) and was also only ten minutes on the tram from things like the art museum, market place and st peters cathedral.
Review 48:The hostel is located around 15 mins walk to the altstadt and also 15 mins walk to the haupbahnhof. It is easy to find. The room is clean and comfortable. There is also a guest kitchen in the hostel.
Review 49:the doors in the dormitories were a bit too easy to slam. Of course it's 'the other travellers' who slam with the doors, but perhaps they could be a bit queter
Review 50:I liked everything, from great location to facilities (tablets to rent etc), very friendly staff, clean and modern, great for stoping for a few days.
Review 51:I dislike that i had to wear bed linen myself in the middlen of night ( as o came after midnight). Numbers should be placed on the beds in the dorm, because i had to looking for free place with flashlight - I felt really weird when I was checking other person in their beds... , obviously i just did not know where is some free spot :)
Review 52:I like location, price and helpfull staff. Everything was clean and fresh.
Review 53:Not much to say here. The optional breakfast is maybe somewhat overpriced; Wi-Fi connectivity in the second lounge is irregular; bike rental is only available by the day (you have to pay a full day's price even if there's only a couple hours of sunlight left).
Review 54:+ Nice and clean overall + Some of the rooms have a bathroom and shower inside (others don't -- I stayed there twice) + There's a socket inside the locker for charging phones etc.
Review 55:The kitchen was on reparation, we weren't notified about this in advance. We asked for a kettle and used in the staff's kitchen on the top floor.
Review 56:Beds and staff were good.
Review 57:In Bremen a lot of homeless people and drunks late at night. Could be a bit noisy, depents on your neighbours...
Review 58:Bremen is a large city with a beautiful (restored) city center. I booked the room for my wife and two teenagers. The night before, I saw to my horror that the children were booked as below the age of 4... Eventually it worked out well. A lack of chairs and table in the room intself was a pitty. Futhermore good and clean hotel.
Review 59:I loved the design, atmosphere, freshness of the facilites, and also the super location just off one of the main pulsing streets the city. Didn't have the breakfast for other reasons, so I have no comments on that. I will definitely stay here on another occassion.
Review 60:nothing but due to a big party arriving the're was a shortage of towels so I had to make do with a hand towel, lucky I'm not big!!
Review 61:Located near most places particularly the football stadium , only 10mins walk.
Review 62:Quite nice place, 10mins walk to the city centre. Both bedroom and washroom are clean. Beautiful and kind staff offer warm service. U can check out till 10:30am!
Review 63:No elevator. The upper bed is super high. (More private space and inconvenience at same time)
Review 64:Clean hostel, nice reception, nice atmosphere. Personal locker.
Review 65:The hostel has all the necessary facilities: self-helf kitchen, in the room safety lockers, lounge area, good wifi and very good location. The city centre is a short walking distance from the hostel. Nearby there are lots of shops to buy whatever you need.
Review 66:little bit difficult to find it at first...
Review 67:good location. easy to go to the hostel from airport if you use tram. you can even walk from city center to the hostel.
Review 68:If you wanna go here from train station, you may need to take a bus or tram. It isnt that far though
Review 69:Staffs were all nice. I used 4 shared room which was bit small but clean and cozy with the bathroom in the room. Wifi connection was pretty good.
Review 70:- Would be nice if the receptionist, or at least the common kitchen, to be open 24/7
Review 71:- Spacious locker complete w/ lock and a power outlet inside - Clean everywhere - Quiet location
Review 72:People enjoy beck's too much and the walls surely aren't noise-free. My room mates came back from the night out at 3 a.m. and turn the lights on with no bother. I was leaving at 5 a.m. and two girls were walking completely drunk trying to socialise. This was on Saturday. It was very fine Monday night.
Review 73:The best hostel i've ever stayed. I saw myself how good they clean everything. I loved a lot the living room, shower and handy little bathroom on the first floor. All super clean and in a very good condition. I've used the microwave and even left my food in the fridge (also very clean) for the couple days. Breakfast was very good. I've got so much help from the stuff they're absolutely superstars! Love that place.
Review 74:Nothing relevant
Review 75:Cute hostel in a really vibrant part of town. Old town could be reached easily on foot, even the train station was only 15 min walk away. Double room was an attic, well kept , warm and the shared bathroom was clean. The shower had great pressure and was super hot. Quiet hostel with a nice common room, staff was friendly and offered us free coffee to go on our departure. The only thing to note is that there is no elevator and people with heavy luggage might have a hard time. We didn't try their breakfast but made good use of their well equipped kitchen ( fridge was broken tho ). Overall it was a nice stay
Review 76:didn't like the district very much
Review 77:the stuff was really friendly and helpful although i caused come "troubles". the stuff is the best you can find in the hostel. and it was clean as well, good breakfast ...
Review 78:It's really far from the central station and not possible to reach by walk. The stair is too narrow and difficult to carry large luggage. The bed is not clean making me feel itch.
Review 79:Nice staff. The room size is not small.
Review 80:- The stairs!!! We stay on 4th floor, without elevator and with a very narrow and tight spiral staircases... It was not easy with bagages...
Review 81:- We pay a nice price to stay near city center because Bremen hotels are all very expensive, so this was a good option; - Very clean space and new and modern facilities.
Review 82:The smaller, more expensive dorms have weird mezzanine levels with no headroom.
Review 83:The big 8 and 10 bed dorms have really solid built-in beds which give you your own little nook. They also have big lockers with powerpoints in them.
Review 84:The staff at this Hostel were very helpful and helped me on a few occasions even to moving me down a floor as I have difficulties climbing stairs. Breakfast was great value for money.
Review 85:WiFi signal was very weak even in lounge zone
Review 86:Great location: 5 min to the city centre by tram(lines 2,3,10), 10 min to main railway station (line 10) and 30 min to airport(lines 3 and 6 or 10 and 6), a lot of cafes, bars and shops in hostel area). Friendly staff. Shared bathroom was clean and wide. Well-equipped guest kitchen (with refrigerator) and another one mini-kitchen on the 3rd floor (also with refrigerator). Elevator for luggage.
Review 87:Breakfast wasn't that great, just cold cuts, OJ/coffee. I also could have avoided to pay the 5.50€ for breakfast and still have gone down and eaten it. Wifi is not good, especially being on the 4th floor.
Review 88:Good place to stay. Great location. Great room with a nice bathroom shower attached. balcony downstairs to smoke on.
Review 89:Hopefully I was not sleeping in the mezzanine because it was really tiny !
Review 90:The remote location makes it peaceful and I had a parking for my motorcycle. The breakfast, although as a supplement, was rich and tasty. The hostess was delightful ! ;)
Review 91:facilities are extremely clairaudient - you hear people in the next room, you hear each door on your floor being opened/closed (and there are quite a lot). internet not stable in some regions of the house. so, if you don't need nightsleep or internet, it's great ;-)
Review 92:friendly staff. nice room. excellent location.
Review 93:- Two-person bedroom only has a 140 cm bed (<queen size) - Mattress was painfully bad - Stairs are steep and there is no elevator - Internet occasionally drops out
Review 94:- Well furnished and beautiful interior - Excellent bathroom - Friendly and helpful staff - Great location in hip district, in walking distance to city centre - You will have a good stay there
Review 95:Some of the rooms overlook the main road/tramway. We found this quite noisy as had windows open due to heat.
Review 96:Location - it's is the Art Quarter with a young, trendy vibe Decor - funky and modern Free tea and coffee in the morning! Well-equipped guest kitchen and plenty of communal space Outdoor areas - these were great as was really hot weather during our stay
