Reviews for Hotel Diana

Review 1:The restaurant closes on some days so it's worth checking every day

Review 2:Set in a lovely area. Staff very friendly. Restaurant very good. Room a little small but adequate

Review 3:Good and worm service and great breakfast, very clean and good location. Beautiful view from the balcony and all around. The Hotel is a little old but we enjoyed our stay and especially the pool.

Review 4:The hotel is located on a busy road. The noise from the road can be disturbing in the front of the hotel.

Review 5:There is a train station within walking distance of the hotel. There is a pass available for visitors for free travel on the trains within the region. Breakfast and dinners were very good. Dinner menu is reasonably priced.

Review 6:Unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open the night we were there but luckily there was a nice Italian restaurant just down the hill.

Review 7:The view from our room was amazing and the room was quiet and comfortable. The pool was an added bonus for our children.

Review 8:No main lamp at the room. Room small No air condition.

Review 9:the bath room is very nice good location for black forest. on the road. nice view from window

Review 10:The road next to the hotel was blocked because of constructions so we had to make a big dtour of half an hour. We were charged at the end for an extra EUr 200 for an extra bed. Was very surprised and unhappy about it. Didn't know it wasn't included in the price which was very high to begin with.

Review 11:The pool

Review 12:very friendly staff , nice place, breakfast good, supper about 7/10 apparently the area was famous for bears some time ago, where ever you look there are bears (toy ones) all over the hotel, quite funny really

Review 13:The restaurant did not have a typed menu so the guests were only given choices verbally.

Review 14:This hotel was in a beautiful location with a range of travellers of all types and nationalities. I particularly liked the comfort of the room.

Review 15:The fabulous view of mountains and lake comes with some trafic noise from the road below the hotel.

Review 16:Possible to take a number of hikes directly from the hotel, and a number of other hikes within a short drive.

Review 17:Looked forward to eating dinner but restaurant was not available for evening meal due to Chef not there. Breakfast was plentiful though and very enjoyable.

Review 18:the pool was super clean and a wonderful way to stretch the body after a day of hiking. Will stay on the back side of the building next time due to road noise.

Review 19:Slightly high upslope of 20-30 minutes hiking to and fro hotel

Review 20:Perfect view in balcony of snowy hilly back of hotel, nicely deco with bears (one giant one at entry), toys and such everywhere. Close to Felberg ski by only 3 bus stops.

Review 21:1. Advertised as hotel, however more like bed & breakfast. 2. On major busy road to ski slopes, challenging (run for your life) if trying to walk across road and catch bus to ski lifts. Lots of cars & buses to dodge. 3. No footpath to walk on. 4. Rooms are average sized and older style. 5.Staff are friendly however seem to have 'attitude' if requesting anything extra like another pillow (pillows were awful) and tea or coffee as no kettle provided. (although we asked). 6.Bar fridge not working although we mentioned it to manager who said to put items on balcony. 7.One small piece of soap of four night stay. 8.After a full day exploring Black Forest, we returned to our room and the door & window was unlocked. 9. Dinner - overpriced & a strange salad combination of lettuce and tinned fruit (left over from breakfast) Offering 3 courses however chef should try 2 courses and skip the salad 10. Wi fi - poor & intermittent 11. Overpriced hotel - try another town - Schluchsee is lovely town nearby with all facilities

Review 22:Lovely vista of scenery & breakfast is very good and typical for european boutique sized 'hotel' buffet

Review 23:The location was pretty good. It was nice to have a parking place without an additional cost. Everybody were very friendly. The bedroom and bathroom were nice and clean.

Review 24:Very nice staff. It looks like a familiar hotel, everyone were very nice and the food was very good!! Room was too small and beds not very comfortable.

Review 25:Third bed initially fold-up type with thin mattress. Walls very thin, could hear people in the adjacent rooms and corridor. Bathroom door lock broken. Same music CD every morning and evening in restaurant. Staff unprofessional. Teddy bears everywhere in the restaurant. WiFi unreliable. Expensive room.

Review 26:Nice views from the front rooms. Handy for the bus stop to the Feldberg skiing area. Adequate breakfast buffet. After requesting a better 3rd bed were given a room with three proper beds.

Review 27:I looked forward to swim in the warm swimming pool. all reference said there were warm swimming pool. But I felt pool is not warm as my respect. The air in the pool is enough warm, but water is not warm.just not cold. Especially I don't recommend for the child.

Review 28:Sauna is very good. and Staff is very good. Room and most of area is clean.

Review 29:Rooms on top floor were very small with slanted room. Do not take room on top floor Beds not comfortable. Lacking toiletries in bathroom.

Review 30:Location was perfect for touring area so stayed 3 nights. Breakfast was varied and plentiful and very good.

Review 31:bad wifi reception

Review 32:Ruth She is the Manageress, waitress, maid, cashier, and just about everything. Works from the early hours of the morning, till the late night hours. Always with a smile on her face.

Review 33:I hadn't realised on booking how close the hotel was to the road, nor what a busy road it was, although it was quiet at night. On arrival we asked about dinner and were told the restaurant was shut. Perhaps our fault as we have no German, but we understood from the hand gesture and expression that it was shut all the time. Perhaps the end of the season? Despite the swimming pool it seemed, therefore, more like a b&b to us. The following evening we came down ready to go out again for dinner, and saw the restaurant laid and ready for dinner! We tried to explain our mistake and were told that it was only closed on Mondays, but to have dinner we should have booked in earlier.! To be fair, they said they would fit us in but we had already arranged to go out. There is nothing about the restaurant in the guest information book in the room.

Review 34:Clean and comfortable. View from room ( no balcony) down to Titisee and up the valley to Feldberg was lovely. Breakfast good apart from coffee.

Review 35:Not as clean as expected, no soap, internet access is available but not good (intermittent connection and slow). Some staff members seem unhappy at working there and/or serving guests. I found the value for money not as good as comparable hotels (price range/review rate) we visited during our week in this region.

Review 36:The 3 person room was fairly sized, beds were fine, some staff very nice and helpful. Breakfast is was fine. Being woken up by cows on the pastures outside the window (ringing their typical cowbells) gives a nice vacation experience. Place was fine for one night.

Review 37:It was off the beaten path. More like a bed and breakfast place. There was really no where within walking distance but they did offer a bus pass. If you stay there you have to drive or take the bus.

Review 38:The breakfast was good. Pool and sauna were nice. Great views.

Review 39:We don't have a bad word to say. This place is awesome.

Review 40:The Hotel could not be located in a better place if you are visiting the Feldberg area. The view from our window was magnificent. However, it was the manager, Ruth who turns this hotel experience into a 5-star hotel. This lady makes sure that every bit of your stay, whether it is comfort, convenience, or your meals is perfect. The hotel rooms are very clean and adequate in size. The hotel is quiet and the lobby is warm and welcoming. From your windows you can see across the valley for miles, including the top of Mount Feldberg. The meals served were delicious as well as the desserts, and Ruth always made sure our German beer had a nice head on it as well.

Review 41:none

Review 42:hotel staff were so friendly. Hotel was super clean. breakfast was good, but not a lot of varieties.

Review 43:dinner is not worth for the price

Review 44:good view, convenient, swim pool !!

Review 45:The Internet in the bedroom was not very good.

Review 46:I loved the awesome views from the windows! The pool and sauna were great for wet days.

Review 47:It was a wonderful experience.

Review 48:Beatifull view from hotel to feldberg and titisee. Good food and friendly staff.

Review 49:Good size rooms, clean and nice to have a pool

Review 50:Comfortable beds. Cleanliness.

Review 51:Ideal location, Breakfast buffet!!!

Review 52:WiFi was unreliable in the room and was very frequently disconnected.

Review 53:busy road in front of the hotel

Review 54:nothing specific

Review 55:Range of selection of breakfast

Review 56:location, service, pool, sauna, vicinity, distance from places

Review 57:As we visited in a heatwave we missed air conditioning.

Review 58:Very good service and beautiful surroundings.

Review 59:Long ways away from Freiberg.

Review 60:Nice pool and sauna.

Review 61:They were really helpful and at no extra cost allowed us to put open top car in the garage as there was very poor weather.

Review 62:Fast check in/out Friendly Staff Comfortabel beds 4 person rooms are 2 x 2 separate ros instead of 1

Review 63:staff very friendly and the position is super if you want to ski

Review 64:Enjoyed the friendly staff, cleanliness and well appropriated rooms. Nice stay.

Review 65:sehr persönliche freundliche Atmosphäre

Review 66:None

Review 67:Personnel is extremely helpful and friendly.

Review 68:Squeeking bed

Review 69:Very friendly stuff. Good location. Delicious food.

Review 70:breakfast staff swimming pool sauna

Review 71:The menu dinner was excellent although a bit pricey.

Review 72:Very profesional and dedicated staff. I would definitely come back with family and friends.

Review 73:Restaurant advertised not open for meal in evening and quite a walk to find somewhere to eat. Could only get wifi in hotel reception.

Review 74:Pool, friendly staff.

Review 75:Pretty place with flowers and the small lake at the backyard.

Review 76:Super friendly staff, Pool with the warm water, breakfast was also good.

Review 77:Location and view, very quiet. Clean and comfortable Good sauna, pool. Hospitable staff.

Review 78:Restaurant to be honest the hotel is more like a large B and B

Review 79:Pool parking and location

Review 80:- 1 small soap for 3 persons for 3 days is not good. - very bad pillows

Review 81:- Very friendly - good location

Review 82:Nothing

Review 83:The staff was amazing they are very helpfull. The location is perfect .

Review 84:Dinner menu - hardly any choice. Must keep a transport facility to pick up and drop the Guests from Feldberg station (just 1 km distance from the hotel)

Review 85:Staff was good specially Ruth. Cleanliness, Breakfast, Location etc

Review 86:Parking lot - it is difficult to get in / out, if you have a sport / lower car, but there is another parking lot just outside, 5 meters away.

Review 87:Beautiful view on the Titisee lake and mountains. They have some tables in the garden - where you can stay and have a drink after dinner. Clean area and hotel. Very good service and food. Excellent if you travel by car (they have a big parking lot). There is also a pool.

Review 88:The Sauna is small.

Review 89:The staff member who greeted us was very friendly and helpful. The outdoor area was beautifully landscaped. In particular, our room and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast being provided was quite convenient and got us on our way quickly.

Review 90:Everything! The location 5 min to the ski slopes by car, room, food, and owners were wonderful. This is an incredible place to stay. Probably the best value for the money out there.

Review 91:Pool was great after a long day of skiing. Staff was great, rooms were comfortable and very clean. Complimentary breakfast was very good. Location was good, but you did have to drive to the skiing facilities.

Review 92:The pool and spa area was very clean, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the hot breakfast had a great variety. Would definitely come back again.

Review 93:Friendly and helpful staff, good location, easy to reach Feldberg ski area and Titisee with a car or by bus. Free parking, wi-fi, sauna and swimming pool. The hotel has an elevator. Delicious dinners, only one meal choice but it can be changed for special needs (e.g. vegetarian diet).

Review 94:Staff were unhelpful. For instance I was sick whilst I was there and when my wife asked if someone could help clean the bathroom, she was given a mop and bucket and told to do it herself. Another member of staff completely ignored us during breakfast but asked everyone else what they'd like to drink. There was only one meal choice for dinner and they wouldn't change it for allergies etc. You also had to book it or the staff got annoyed. The pool wasn't great, you had to walk down a slippy spiral staircase to change or go to the sauna. The breakfast was pretty basic.

Review 95:The location wasn't bad, it is near the stop for the Feldberg ski bus.

Review 96:It's an old tired hotel, stuck on the side of a mountain not near anything - so not so good for a walk and explore of the local area!

Review 97:Quiet and peaceful, friendly staff all with a certain local charm. Great pool, and good dinner + breakfast. Our room was a good size also.

Review 98:no evening meals at the beginning of the week, and otherwise a very limited menu. Decor was very dated. The member of staff who spoke the best english was not particularly helpful, and gave the impression that she couldn't really be bothered.

Review 99:We were on half board and on arriving at the restaurant for dinner we were ushered to the back of the resturant to be kept out of sight to avoid others coming in as the hotel did not have the capacity to offer dinner. At breakfast next morning again there was no chef so no eggs to order. The rooms are very compact and very basic.

Review 100:The single staff member on duty at the hotel was kind enough to fetch us from the railway station or else it would have been difficult for us to lug our baggage up the hill to the hotel.

Review 101:The view over Black Forest was fantastic! On the very top, with marvelous fresh air, plenty of magnificent flowers around. The location is really wonderful and quiet.

Review 102:Good-sized indoor pool with decent sized sauna. Wonderful views down thevalley towards Titisee. Great location right on the Westweg. Goodbreakfast. Comfortable room with a very large bath - nice to be able tosoak away a days worth of walking!

Review 103:I would not rate this hotel as a 3 star, it is more like a 0-1 star. Thehotel does not accept any major credit cards which we found out at checkin, they only accept the Maestro Euro cards. So we had to find an bankautomat and pay cash. The room we book was very over priced at€139/night, when you could book the same room at a 4 star hotel inSchulchsee for €99/night. Our room was very aged, a flash back tothe 1980'S. The clock radio was broken, but it still ticked atnight. The mini fridge made this really loud noise like an alarm clockand they had to come remove a panel from the wall to disconnect it. Thedoor only had a skeleton key to unlock it, no deadbolt on the inside. There were bugs crawling around in the bathroom when we arrived. Thewater pressure in the shower was terrible, almost like it was gravityfed. I would not recommend this hotel, only 4 star and above inSchwarzwald.

Review 104:The room that we had was rather clean, the sauna was a bit smallbut served its purpose, the indoor pool was nice to get into afterthe sauna. Breakfast was plentiful in the morning, good was tostart the day.

Review 105:The dinner in the restaurant was very average, as was the breakfast. I would eat elsewhere.

Review 106:The hotel was easy to find, and has a beautiful view from the terrace. The room was comfortable and the stay was pleasant.

Review 107:Room faced the highway so it was a bit noisy from traffic.

Review 108:Hotel had an indoor pool although we did not use it. Dining room is very nice. Staff very accomodating. Very nice bathroom. We would stay there again. Location excellent for skiing in Feldburg.

Review 109:Car park was full. No space to park - and the hotel was not full. Car park was also snowy and slippery. Winter service not well done. At first, staff was indifferent to lack of parking space, but then had an employee move car so we could park.

Review 110:Good room size. Very clean. Nice location.

Review 111:a bit expensive in my opion. If the price had included supper, that would have been great! (perhaps as a work-week incentive?) The TV was a bit small. The coffee didnt taste very good.

Review 112:There was only one other guest, so we had top service! It was very close to Feldberg ski resort, and having the pool and sauna to ourselves was quite nice. The room was comfortable, and the views excellent. Breakfast was very well done (except for the coffee)

Review 113:Heel vriendelijke ontvangst. Een prachtige schone nette ruime kamer met heerlijke bedden!! Gratis gebruik van badjassen en zwemkleding voor sauna en zwembad!!

Review 114:If we could give this small, friendly hotel 12 points out of 10 we would. It was superb! Gorgeous views down the valley to Titisee and up to the Feldberg from our balcony, clear fresh air, a beautiful garden and friendly, helpful staff made our stay here an absolute delight. Our big room and bathroom were very comfortable and clean, and we were able to use the hotel laundry to do our washing and ironing. Had a great chat to the owner, who was very hospitable and has a wicked sense of humor. Breakfast was plentiful and varied, and you can have dinner in the lovely hotel dining room if you let them know by 4 pm. We were the only guests dining that night but the food and service were second to none. We haven't had a better meal anywhere in Europe! The young lady who cooks and generally runs the place is truly amazing. Free wifi, an indoor pool, parking and plenty of advice about what to see and do rounded out an amazing experience.

Review 115:The hotel Diana is a hidden little gem. It has all facilities of a larger hotel, swimming pool and sauna, and combines it with the personal approach and style of a family-run hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and well designed. The cleanliness of the entire hotel is remarkable. The food (breakfast and three-course dinner) is very good and exceeded by far my expectations - especially compared to the very reasonable prices. And if you want to treat yourself to a special wine or digestive with or after dinner, the owners selection of vintage ports and locally distilled spirits has something for everyone. Being located only 5 minutes away from the skilifts up to Feldberg, I would recommend the hotel to anybody who wants to spend a few days skiing or hiking in the Black Forest.

Review 116:Beautiful landscape, relaxing atmosphere, good location and excellent dinner.

Review 117:Friendly staff with good info about the area.
