Reviews for Burgschänke

Review 1:The main reason for booking hotel is location as it was 9 minututes drive from Audi Niederlasung and convenient to drop my Audi A5 off for its annual service. Again, this hotel is in a great location and area to travel with pets, take walks up to Burg and is very pet friendly.

Review 2:It is 3 minutes by car to the Kaiserslautern Base, KTown high school and Rhine Ordnance Barracks. 5 minute drive to the autobahn. Restaurant in hotel serves fantastic German food. Staff speaks English. Hotel is Spotless! Unbelievably clean. Great showers and comfy beds. Breakfast has a nice variety of eggs, cereals, breads, fruits, meats, juices, cheeses, tea and coffee. Even has a computer and printer for guest use. Wifi worked great. Plenty of parking. Definitely deserves a +10 rating.

Review 3:Wifi was slow and kicked you off periodically but that coukd be because the hotel was full. No other complaints or negatives. This place was great.

Review 4:Great location. The staff was wonderful and friendly. The restaurant had great food and prices were very reasonable.

Review 5:a little town nearly Kaiserslautern , quite, the hotel is at the center we can't miss it. The staff is perfect, the restaurant and the breakfast are very good.

Review 6:Not emough comfort for the price of 78€ Bed was a couch, not a real bed & no night table next to the bed - it was behind the bed & not easily accesible to the bed. night table light did not work so had to use desk lamp on desk chair next to bed. no tv viewing chair so had to lie on bed or share desk chair with the light. The phone was disconnected so no emergency link was available. Had to ask for the salad which was advertized with the meal. The meat did not look nor taste fresh taken from the daily menu.

Review 7:Friendly staff

Review 8:only down fall is the size of the towels for the shower.. I am 6'7"... wish the towels were a little bigger... made due.. just a personnel preference...

Review 9:Hotel was very convenient. I have stayed there two times. first time stayed in two rooms for our family of 4. the rooms were great for us. the second time, 3 weeks later, my son and I were there for a trip. the room is spacious along with the value.. great beer.. food was good.. staff was friendly and helpful...

Review 16:Great staff! Wonderful restaurant! We had 7 family members from the U.S. and they truly enjoyed their first night in Germany.

Review 17:excellent breakfast and good restaurant.

Review 18:Kind staff, comfortable room, good breakfast, very nice restaurant with good food and genuine pleasant German atmosphere.

Review 19:Wi Fi did not work!

Review 20:The staff is fabulous!!

Review 21:Friendly staff Easy to find No pressure to eat there Wonderful food at restaurant

Review 22:We were put in the new annex which was superb. The evening meal was excellent and so was he breakfast.would stay here again.

Review 23:Great experience of a true small German hotel! Has everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Review 24:Small details were overlooked that could easily be corrected. No toilet paper hanger on the wall, no towel rack next to one of the sinks. No way to lock the bathroom door. These things become irksome on longer visits.

Review 25:Location is great for shopping on Ramstein AFB. Food is okay. Rooms are not luxurious, but clean and spacious. Nice, friendly atmosphere. We had a nice time sitting at the bar in the evenings.

Review 26:- Somewhat pricey.. Though not much more than what is standard for similar stays.. Perhaps all rates are bloated, but they could do to drop the rate 10-20 euros per night.

Review 27:- I used to live down the street from this place; the food at the restaurant is excellent.- Since then I've stayed twice. The rooms are very nice, cozy and spacious. - Location is fair.. not too far from anything in Kaiserslautern; it is down the hill from the Hohenecken Castle - a nice view both day and night.

Review 28:It took an hour for them to come take our food order. It was on a Friday night, but not busy at that time. Then when they got really busy; that's when they came to take our order.

Review 29:I loved the friendly atmosphere. The outdoor garden area was beautiful!

Review 30:Nothing!

Review 31:Lovely setting and a real traditional German hotel. Very comfortable and peaceful. Excellent evening meal and breakfast. Highly recommended.

Review 32:Little things - there were 3 of us in the room and we kept getting onlytwo towels. Pillows are terribly thin. Could use ceiling fans for whenit gets a little warm. I'm sure some of this is skewed by ourAmerican taste.

Review 33:The staff is always friendly and helpful, especially for those of us whodon't speak German. The location is fantastic - quiet and beautiful.

Review 34:Unfortunately the coffee at breakfast was only luke warm. The breakfast rolls were rather chewey and not what we expected.

Review 35:Dinner was very good, staff, location were all excellent.

Review 36:Nice value hotel in a good location close to the remains of an old castle. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was superb--a great spread, and available at 06:00, which is terrific for early birds like me. Dinner here was excellent. I also appreciated the free Wi-Fi access.

Review 37:Later hours would have been nicer. Most Americans like to sit and relaxaround a bar and fireplace and their fireplace was situated next to thebar area which would have made for cozy relaxation.

Review 38:The Sievers, owners of the Burgschanke, were very amiable and helpful. When it was discovered that we wanted to visit Rothenburg, Mr Sieverlooked up the location on line and printed a gps/mapquest drive to forus. The restaurant, wait staff, and chefs were truly awesome. Iimmersed myself right into the German culture and had several dishesprepared with local produce and meats. The Schweinkase vom Grille isthe absolute best.

Review 39:When we checked in we were greeted in the bar and the owner was to busy to give us any real details. Surprised they didn't have the hotel area seperated from the rerstaurant. It was a bit awkward...and I've lived in Europe for more than 13 years and this was abnormal. The room was across the street in a building. When we entered the room it smelt and was dirty from poor cleaning. We had to lay towels down in the shower since the floor was so disgusting. I would not reccommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 40:The room (19) was disappointing; one light bulb out, the shower unit too heavy for its stand so that you had to hold it, otherwise it fell over: no plug in the washbasin. The room was wel made up every day, however it seemed as if no-one wanted to notice things that could make it better, and as we are fairly easy-going people we felt that making a fuss might have been counterproductive.

Review 41:The restaurant was excellent; good food from a wide menu served quickly and politely; couldn't be bettered! Comfortable bed, location good for getting to different places.

Review 42:The wifi did not work in our rooms which were located across the streetfrom the main restrant/hotel. When we asked staff members they could notoffer a solution and on the third day we asked the boss who only saidshe would need to ask her it guy. We never got an answer and they seemedas if it was unimportant. Since there are no other facilities such as apool or playground for the kids, which wouldn't have been utilizedanyways because of the weather, Internet access is important.

Review 43:Ample parking, friendly staff, good food and breakfast hours were longenough to accomodate most schedules.

Review 44:The only aspect of the weekend I would change was the Wi-Fi access. Itwas annoying to have to go through the desk to use the internet in theroom. Then, the password access was only good for the first day. Theprocess had to be repeated the next day.

Review 45:The staff made everyone feel welcome. Every effort was made to make sureour needs were met.

Review 46:Everything. Helen and the staff are amazing. The hotel is very quaint and comfortable. The rooms are plain but nice.

Review 47:Family loved it. Room very clean, free parking, great restaurant and steps from a castle ruin. Would recommend to friends and family!

Review 52:The staff was very rude and was not helpful.

Review 53:Location

Review 54:The quality of the hotel, the service and food.

Review 55:Staff very friendly. Made our stay very nice and enjoyable.

Review 56:Communication a bit difficult with some staff.

Review 57:Expensive room for a small one, 120 euros for 2 adults and one child.

Review 58:Great food, friendly staff.

Review 59:Room smaller than expected and not in main building

Review 60:Restaurant was fantastic and staff was very friendly
