Reviews for Hotel am Stern

Review 1:The ventilation of the bar under is really disturbing during the night, all the smoke from the bar under is coming into the room, the sewage from bathrooms are noisy like a cascade ( I was scared that a pipe was broken !), the walls are thin so you can hear any discussions from other rooms, space inside room is really small ( room no. 5).

Review 2:The size and the quality of the bed was ok, clean sheets and towels, good breakfast.

Review 3:Looking out of my room window just to see an incredible amount of trash and junk accumulated at the rear of the building. Parking was a drag!! Seedy neighborhood.

Review 4:The staff was friendly, there was a very nice breakfast served.

Review 5:The bathroom in my room had an automatic sensitive light which kept turning itself off whilst I had a shower. Also there's a step to the shower to which one needs to be careful to not trip over, specially if it is dark when getting out from the shower to make the light turn on again.

Review 6:The location and price combined with the comfort and cleanliness of the room plus access to WiFi and staff friendliness make The Stern a great option in Gelsenkirshen.

Review 7:Well... Gelsenkirchen isn´t actually a nice city to visit...

Review 8:The location near a tramstop (if You visit a homegame by S04). The staff was very friendly and it was possible to make som special arrangements considering the breakfast.

Review 9:Very Depressed hotel,Depressed town and Depressed country. Please avoid this country at all.

Review 10:Very old building and reception after 20:00 21:00 clock only you can find on phone.

Review 18:staff

Review 19:a bit dated

Review 20:clean and secure

Review 21:Apon arriving (it was a public holiday) there were no staff present. I was stuck outside the hotel until I got someone to call them to let me

Review 22:I stayed at the hotel just for one night, but I can say that everything is fine! The hotel location is very convenient. You can quickly get to the stadium or in the town center or the railway station - anywhere. Lovely staff. Well maintained rooms. Very pleasant hotel owner! For such a small town of Gelsenkirchen - this hotel is a very high level! Good luck for everyone! With best wishes from Ukraine, Kateryna.

Review 23:We stayed in the apartment, and it was filled with personal belongings, both in the rooms and the bathroom. That felt a bit creepy. Also, if you don't know any german at all it might be tricky to communicate with the staff.

Review 24:Good value for money.

Review 25:It's not exactly central but then Gelsenkirchen doesn't really have any bright lights either!

Review 26:Owners very friendly even though we were travelling football fans which can put a lot of people off! Extremely helpful, gave us a lot of information about the city, the stadium and transport.

Review 27:When i came into hotel it was closed and there was a phone number sticked to the gate. I called the number and one guy told me my room number, gate pin code etc. after for long conversation regarding the hotel rules. It was international call and maybe i spent 30-40 euros. When i got in to my room i had to call him again to take wi-fi code. Anyway, when i put in the codes i have distinguised that wi-fi doesnt work. Called him again and he said that it should be work. I told him to believe me and he said that he is out of the hotel with his friends and no chance to turn back to hotel again. I got crazy. This was the most unrespectful behaviour against me during all my travels. I always travel but this hotel became the worst of my experience even i went many African countries.

Review 28:big room

Review 29:Noisy ad the room right away the street. Far away from HBF

Review 30:Wifi working fine

Review 31:One thing, there is not a waterboiler in the room and no a little fridge..

Review 32:Good average and clean rooms.

Review 33:Bathroom was very cramped

Review 34:The staff were very friendly, co-operative and helpful to me.
