Review 1：Scrambled eggs at breakfast very very salty, please cheff, let the people salt their own eggs :-)

Review 3：The bed kept separating and was very annoying. It was two twin push together but they slide apart on I kept falling through it.

Review 7：Impossibly far away from most attractions and even amenities and consequent use of taxis eats into budget. Hotel can best be summed up as tired and almost defeated.

Review 13：Breakfasts were overpriced and the quality was beyond poor. We've stayed at Motel 6s that looked better (the Opal looked ratty, old, and run down). They advertise that there's a "bar" in the hotel, but it's literally tucked in a corner next to the reception desk (looks like you could roll it in and out of its cubby hole). Very minimal amenities and/or overpriced (motion sensors in darkened hallways that only clicked on once you were several meters into the hallway, door chains hanging off door molding, 8 euro/day for pathetic parking). The building looks like nothing's been updated or maintained on it for nearly 30 years. It seems so out of place, too, being this huge monolith-like building in the center of town. It's worth noting, also, that the first 10 or so floors of the Opal are not hotel rooms but are office spaces.

Review 27：This is a Ghost Town, once it must`ve attracted many tourists but on Saturday all closes at 13.00! Nothing to do! Also Oberstein (30 mins walk, 5 mins drive, 10 mins bus Marktplatz to Marktplatz 301 and 351) is fairly empty with 1 supermarket, many ice salons and some nice touristy stuff you`ve seen it in a short morning - never had ruder service as in the Rathaus Restaurant horrible! We`d never return...

It was a great experience in terms of overall ambiance; room design with beautiful view and comfort, new and big bathroom, Otherwise room was lovely and technical standard excellent. wonderful setting for the hotel in the midst of everything. Go for shopping; everything is just around the corner. I would highly recommend it to all my friends.

Review 33：It is located in the middle of city with a beautiful view of my hometown. A 30 minute walk to Oberstein where they have a beautiful schloss on top of the mountain and a church built into it overloking several neat restr. and shopping or jewels for which Idar-Oberstein is known for. A fantastic trip.

Review 35：I stayed for one day. Reception dealt with my check-in promptly, politely and answered any question I had about the hotel and room. Everything was smooth. The room with looking out to the City was ideal and with the entire facilities one expects from a 3 superior star hotel. The breakfast restaurant was superb can last you all day. The location was excellent - within walking distance to everywhere I wanted to go. In summary, a great hotel in a great location and would definitely stay there again

Review 36：During my two-weeks-stay I had the very room the wlan (wireless lan) didnot work throughly in the second week. I heard later that the system inthe room had to be renewed. Due to this fact I moved twice. The roomthat I stayed was the only room that wlan did not work. That was verydisappinting. The shauer in the third room to which I moved, didn'twork correctly. A lady at the reception helped me to move the fridge asthe janitor was not there. On August 3rd and 4th was the breakfast notvery good. I asked very friendly if they considere the price reducktionfor three days due to have had no WLAN" at the checking out butthey didn'T.

Review 38：The opal hotel is a small friendly hotel filled with wonderful staff eager to help and provide. The rooms are very clean and the suites are very large and comfortable. They do not provide all of the amenities of the larger hotels, but the breakfast buffet is included and offers a wide variety of very enjoyable choices. overall it is an unbelievable value for the money.

To begin with the front desk staff, veryfriendly, competent and knows Idar Oberstein inside and out so gave verygood advice from where to eat to changing money. Very good room rate.Recently refurbished, it was clean and comfortable. New lifts and modernroom features, with a wonderful view of the city and the surrounding.Sumptuous buffet breakfast, The hotel was only a few meters from theCenter and the shopping district and it was perfect since everything inIdar Oberstein is within walking distance. Would want to stay here againif given a chance to be back in Germany.

Review 40：This was actually our second stay at this hotel. The first time, our room was very nice- the view out of the window was beautiful. This time- we stayed on the 16th floor- with a substandard view. The room was more dated, the toilet made a whistling sound each time it flushed- and it had a musty or stale smell. We also discovered in the morning that check-out was at 7 and we needed to be on the road at 6:30. We had used the parking area provided by the hotel and ended up having to wait until the clerk arrived at 7:05 to purchase a token to get out of the parking area. Had we known this, we could have purchased the token at check-out. Overall, this hotel is a good value.
