Reviews for Hotel Slovan Plzen

Review 1:The hotel may be in the center but 51 euro plus 6 euro the parking is pretty steep for Pilsen. Also the breakfast was rather small. The covers also were really small. I mean they had small dimensions. I am 173 but i could hardly fit under them.

Review 2:The location of the hotel was very good. In 2 minutes you could reach the square. On the way to the square there are also 2 mini markets which are really handy. Our room had a bay window with view to the square. The room was big and the bed huge. Another great feature if you have car is the parking. It is worth 6 euro but you really dont have other choice. And it is very safe.

Review 3:an old-fashioned hotel featuring old furniture could well keep its 'smoking rooms available' policy...

Review 4:they´ve got good coffee now... for the rest refer to my last reviews

Review 5:Needs a bit of updating.

Review 6:old building with charm. great location for walking to all the sights of Pilsen. great breakfast included and reasonable price. room was huge and overlooked the park.

Review 7:Breakfast need some improvement. Also shower rooms need to be update, there is no protection to avoid water flow to floor where are no heating or floor drain

Review 8:decoration and style, location, spacious rooms

Review 9:Rooms & WC were very old. There was no air conditioner so during summer, the room was not well ventilated.

Review 10:Parking was available on site and good for us as we rented a car for our road trip. Relatively close to the city center (walkable distance).

Review 11:Décor is getting faded & dated. In need of refurbishment soon.

Review 12:Location close to station & eating places. Restaurant served excellent meal at great price. Will stay here again if in Plzen.Very good value for money

Review 13:A shower curtain in the bathroom would come in handy for one not to have to sweep the floor after every shower.

Review 14:A historical building with a beautiful baroque interior.

Review 15:The wifi signal on the top floor was really very weak.

Review 16:The location was superb, in front of the park and in the same center of the city. Many good restaurants (e. g. Slunečnice) in the proximity.

Review 17:Very rude old reception worker "welcomed" me to hotel. I came too early and she was angry because of that. Wifi does not work in rooms. It works in breakfast room in few tables. Rooms were straight from the communist era (exept bathroom - it was nice). Corridors were dark and the elevator scary - did not use.

Review 18:The hotel is situated very nicely in the heart of Pilsen

Review 19:The stay gives you rather precise idea what it was like during the communist times in the czechoslovakia. Grim, grey and scary. Though the original building has so much potential!

Review 20:Old furniture, old rooms, but very clean. Shower didn't have a curtain so it was wet all the time, very small bathroom, poor breakfast.

Review 21:Location is perfect, close to many restaurants and pubs, close to the main square, we could do everything on foot. The square in front of the hotel is lovely. Although it's a very old building, they have a small lift, which was essential for us travelling with many suitcases. Pet friendly, excellent wifi. Very comfortable and clean beds.

Review 22:/!\ WARNING. I booked the room with the bath in bathroom (as precised with the small pictogram) but I had to insist and complain at the reception to have it! Then at check out the price was 5€ more and I had to complain again...

Review 23:Nice ambiance

Review 24:breakfast still not great... especially the coffee...

Review 25:we would never go somewhere else, althought we also prefer the first and second floor rooms. style is unique, despite "old"...

Review 26:Revelers in the park can disrupt your sleep when your windows are open.

Review 27:Good location...close to the train station and the brewery...right across from the downtown park. The grand hotel is past its prime, but there was still enough left to impress.

Review 28:This was the second time I stayed at Hotel Slovan. I went back for the convenience of location, familiarity, beautiful hotel and view of the park. it was also nice to have a free breakfast

Review 29:it definitelly had better times: the furniture is oldish, the tv may be very old or not work, etc. If you are after the most modern comfort, this is not for you.

Review 30:excellent position near centre, great value for money, excellent if you like to dream a bit in an old glorious hotel and like the feel of its artistic look, the rooms are huge.

Review 31:The staff didn't seem to know the prices and seemed confused about my reservation.

Review 32:The location was the best in town. The bathroom was bigger than the second bedroom and very modern. Plenty of closet space.

Review 33:While I realize that this hotel was built before many modern conveniences were invented, I think it would be a good idea for them to update their electric system to current standards. There was a sign in the bathroom about using only shavers in that outlet, so we didn't use that one at all. We blew a fuse or breaker the first night while using only a reading lamp and a phone charger. After that, there was always the sense that we shouldn't use the electricity for fear of starting a fire.

Review 34:This hotel had a charming, old world vibe. Its architecture and decor built on that. The room had a high ceiling and chandelier, and there were cloth tablecloths on the coffee table. Our room was to the front of the hotel, with a view of the wonderful park across the street. With the window open, we could hear the sax player busking over there. The restaurant was also charming, and we had some great food and excellent service there.

Review 35:it is VERY old, no shower curtain, bed was hard, no black out curtains (one blind didn't even close) so as soon as the sun rose at 330-400am so did we!!! had to pay as soon as we arrived instead of at the end of our stay, breakfast had very limited options.

Review 36:it was clean, in a decent area

Review 37:no hear dryer

Review 38:historical spacious room

Review 39:Excellent location, historic building, spacious room, 7ties interior

Review 40:We liked the location just wthin the city and the history as well as the hotel as such. It was a cosy place and exactly what we intended to have.

Review 41:Flair

Review 42:Great facility.

Review 43:It was a funky old, even spooky looking hotel.

Review 44:Very nice hotel

Review 45:An old but also tired charmer. In a need of ltc.

Review 46:A bit rundown. Hard to get to in a Car (lots of one-way streets)

Review 47:Great location, impressive decor, nice big rooms.

Review 48:Nice gigantic square in the old town. Nice restaurants bar, fairly priced

Review 49:This is a very grand old hotel right on the border of the old town area and next to the city park. The room was very clean. We enjoyed our stay.

Review 50:Breakfast was notable.

Review 51:No wifi anywhere. Breakfast was very poor. No fruit or pastries.

Review 52:Location

Review 53:old style, unpretentIous - quietly timeless

Review 54:Staff spoke little English/German; Lift was broken

Review 55:Central location. Good size room and bed.

Review 56:A old lady during the check-in wasn't the most service orientated, if at all. The other lady in check-out was better

Review 57:good location, safe car park

Review 58:Well located right downtown. Secure parking at a reasonable price. Good breakfast. Classy 125 year old building.

Review 59:The bed and sheets leave much to be desired!

Review 60:Amazing old building and huge suite rooms for little money.

Review 61:No shower curtain. Floor got wet.

Review 62:Great location

Review 63:Staff - lady at reception was just kind but not very warm Furniture, lift and interior like from 20th century

Review 64:Location really in Pilsen downtown

Review 65:Noisey neighbourhood Saturday night. Shower wasn't great.

Review 66:Fab location. Very comfortable room, old fashioned, lots of space, great beds, balcony doors overlooking park.

Review 67:Very slow to be served dinner although the waiting staff were friendly and helpful. Very drab, dark brown decor in the room, and antiquated bathroom, with no shower curtain.

Review 68:Quiet position in the old town centre. Quiet hotel. Food

Review 69:wi-fi is spotty reception in some areas.

Review 70:Nice old hotel located across from lovely gardens and park and old town square. Walking distance to almost everything including Pilsner Brewery and train & bus station. Nice breakfast.

Review 71:Hard to fault

Review 72:This is an excellent place to stay and well worth the money. The rooms were large looking over the park. It was easy walking distance to the centre of town and all the main attractions. This hotel allows you to experience old world charm without the cost of major chains. Loved it. Even no cost parking in the middle of a city

Review 73:2nd stay here. The 4th floor rooms are a lot different than the 2nd and 3rd floor rooms in quality and size. Looks like 4th floor was added after original hotel

Review 74:great location to old town square and train station.

Review 75:The lobby is dreadful. It needs a revamp. It could be a great hotel in Plzen with its imposing facade.

Review 76:The personnel was quite cold and indifferent. No wonder it is almost deserted...But the room was fine and big.

Review 77:lovely old building. stunning inside and out. I was lucky on my visit - i had a balcony with great view overlooking the park. I hope to have the same room when I return. Thank you

Review 78:Magnificent belle-epoque building and fittings (needs a bit of care, but it's still magnificent), helpful staff, and an excellent breakfast with freshly-scrambled eggs if you want. Good position in centre of old town, near the opera house etc.

Review 79:It was an excellent location for seeing the sights of Plzen and close to the bus station. I liked the atmosphere and character of the building. I was given a room with a beautiful view of the park and special buildings.

Review 80:Our room was at the far end of the corridor, from where a Wi-Fi signal was not available - had to go out to the staircase

Review 81:Huge halls, high ceilings in all rooms, the best of Soviet-style building efforts from the previous century. The complete opposite of "modern" but in a good way.

Review 82:I loved my stay at Hotel Slovan due to the architecture and uniqueness of the hotel. It really is like stepping back in time, the decor is decades out of date, as is the furniture in the rooms. I stayed in the cheapest single room, half of the hotel has en-suite refurbished rooms I believe - how normal and boring!. The bed linen was clean and I had a great comfy sleep. Breakfast was self-serve buffet with a wide choice of continental offerings. The hotel also offers secure courtyard parking. Unfortunately I had no time to explore Plzen as was on a Ten Country Challenge, however I will return to explore the Czech Rep and stay in Hotel Slovan again.

Review 83:When I booked the 2 double rooms it was infered that we would have a shared bath room...I didn't realise we would be sharing with the whole of the 3rd floor and that the showers were communal..and open (3 daughters and my wife refused to use them).Staff were ok but a bit distant .

Review 84:Clean but very basic rooms. Very central and a good breakfast

Review 85:We were in the cheapest room and really it's not confortable. I wouldadvise to reserve the category most expensive, it looks morecomfortable.

Review 86:The hotel is uncredible, between "Shining" and "Goes with the wind".Good location in center town and good breakfast.

Review 87:Schönes, altes Gebäude mit herrlichem Flair!

Review 88:Staff almost rude. Stuck in the 70s, everything is old

Review 89:Little shabby/

Review 90:Inexpensive, great location, parking is secure.

Review 91:The bed could have been much more comfortable.

Review 92:Great location with a lovely view.

Review 93:insufficient maintenance

Review 94:location, architecture

Review 95:old facility, need reconstruction

Review 96:nice location

Review 97:staff, wifi accessibility

Review 98:a bit "vintage", but great location: (a couple of minutes walking to the main square)

Review 99:This hotel is worth visiting for the momentous staircase alone. Grand style, belle époque. Room was good, worth its money.

Review 100:Old faucets,no shower curtain or shower box, everything old.

Review 101:location

Review 102:N/A

Review 103:Location to the main square.

Review 104:Old building and room furniture.

Review 105:Good localization, near the city center. Nice breakfast service.
