Reviews for Am Ostseegarten

Review 1:The room smelled a bit and I assume the rooms on the ground floor can be dark as well.

Review 2:The room faced the see although we did not pay for a see view room. Comfortable beds, quiet location (2nd floor)

Review 3:No possibility to pay by Visa. Small room. Hotel need a reconstruction. Poor and expensive breakfast. Two buildings, but wifi only in the main.

Review 4:Nice location. Quiet place. Friendly owner.

Review 5:Additional cost when you pay Visa Card, Rather guesthouse - not hotel.

Review 6:Very near sea. Looks like old guesthouse. Nice sea view terrace in breakfast restaurant.

Review 7:- for 110 euro/night we managed to get in high season only a small room at mansarde. Therefore I would not say this was good price / comfort ratio; - please be aware that the hotel occupies 2 buildings, and only one is shown at the photos at site. Since we were placed to the second building, our expectations turned out to be high compared to the reality; - wi-fi was only working in the first building at ground floor. If you have Mac, it takes time to get connected (like 1 hour almost desperate tryings to adjust WLAN settings); - the room did not get cleaned for 4 days. Rubbish is to be placed next to the door and to be collected once per day; - beds were not comfortable - they were like the cheapest beds from IKEA;

Review 8:I stayed for 4 nights in Aug 2015 with a friend of mine in a room "Königstühl". +: - location: in the border of Jasmund National Park and like on the first line to the sea; it was very beautiful, and even all the drawback did not spoil this experience much; - Hotel managerin was open and tried to help to the extent she could (e.g. she provided a small portable fridge and some glasses for our room at our request);

Review 9:While everything was very well cleaned, the bathroom fixtures lacked elegance and being "fixed". It would be great if this can be fixed.

Review 10:The room has enough plugs to charge a phone beside the bed for two people without unplugging the light.

Review 11:We would have loved to stay longer and hope to come back soon!

Review 12:It is a house with a great view of Kap Arkona and a very open and friendly owner. We really enjoyed our stay. Great to walk to Königsstuhl and the National Park Jasmud and on the beach.

Review 13:Public transport almost non existent had problems getting back from day visits-you really need a car. Room advertised not as shown in main hotel in website picture, room was in adjacent building

Review 14:Peaceful spot with friendly people, lovely countryside and great sunsets.

Review 15:The madam at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The location was great. It was worthwhile to spend few more bucks to stay in the rooms facing the sea. The room was clean and comfortable. Though the building I stayed didn't have wifi (the other one had), it didn't bother me a lot. For the price, I was very satisfied with my stay at this hotel.

Review 16:1. Been sent to hotel that we have not booked 2. No wi-fi, even common areas did not have a good connection 3. Been given a double room instead of a triple (lady was honestly very confused and disorganised) 4. No hot water in the afternoon

Review 17:Location is truly great. However, it is great if they let you stay in the main building rather than sending you to "Zum Piraten" Breakfast is good but is not worth 8 euros

Review 18:- the bed is not so good as it is two single beds with a large separation between so it is not so cosy for a couple. - breakfast is rudimentary and not very good quality of products. More choices of cereals and vegetables would be appreciated.

Review 19:- Friendliness of the hostess, a very sweet lady, smiling and ready to help. - Prompt reaction to our demands. - Good communication before arriving - Charming hotel, feels like being home. - Quiet small hotel, ideal to relax and cut from work - Amazing view!

Review 20:We had a wonderful stay at the ostsee garden. We were immediately welcomed by our friendly host and whisked away into our cute little room with beautiful sea views. We felt very comfortable during our stay like it was home. Our dog enjoyed the time very much with lots of hiking trails to the national park right outside the door. We will certainly return for another stay. :) Thankyou!

Review 21:Regrettably the negative issues as described by so many are true as well, without exemption. Before you consider going here, read through a couple of the reviews and be prepared to encounter all the previous negative points. To give a small summary; rather dated overall interior. We were offered a bigger room (with brilliant view admittedly) for an added fee, and because we arrived late we were initially pleased. The room however turned out the be recently refurbished, was unfinished and had not been thoroughly cleaned or aired! The mattress, although new (ikea), was so poor we could feel the frame! The shower looks rather nice but isn't built very smartly; the water pressure is (deliberately) very low, and it's dark. This room is underneath the terrass, but the ceiling isn't insulated so you'll here everybody walking on it.... etcetera Summarising : we left a day early, despite the beautiful location!

Review 22:The location is fabulous, without a doubt. The views, surroundings and walks are as described by many before us. But here come the 'buts'....

Review 23:We did pay a little more for a Sea View and it turned out to be a Sea glimpse. However we liked the spacious room. The carpet could do with a shampoo but that is really not a problem.

Review 24:The Landlady is very pleasant and friendly. I am glad that we ignored some comments here at booking com because we definateltly could not agree with them. The breakfast is very good. Bathroom is very clean. The Position is a dream.

Review 25:A depressing room on ground floor. Looked out on backs of other houses. Hallways shabby.

Review 26:The room was clean. Hot water worked. Quiet enough. In center of town.

Review 27:Changes in the room facilities at the very last moment. Absence of several services you would expect from an hotel of this standing. Breackfast not very tasty.

Review 28:The location and the view from the hotel.

Review 29:I was told that I hadn't booked a room with a sea view and that was 5 Euros extra per night. I declined so they put me in an annex about 100 yards up the road. Room was a bit dated. They don't accept VISA or MasterCard so I had to pay the bill in cash

Review 30:Compared to other hotels in the area this one appeared to be quite cheap. Breakfast was OK with excellent views towards Kap Arkona. Shower was good hot power shower

Review 31:the hotel halls and room do not smell nor look clean. The carpets are old and look dirty. We asked for a double bed when we booked the hotel but when we got there we had two separate twin beds poorly place together.

Review 32:the location was great

Review 33:The steps are rather steep (which we were told before).

Review 34:Good location with a partly sea view. The main house has a terrace with a great view to Kap Arkona. 6 km to Königsstuhl where one walk to on the beach.

Review 35:Breakfast is not worth the price . A lot of abstract art No a/c and it can get really hot at night

Review 36:Nice room Comfy beds The lady that runs the hotel spoke perfect French and English (german too. )

Review 37:Smells of old

Review 38:Location

Review 39:Very small bathroom.

Review 40:Location. View from room. Breakfast

Review 41:It seems that the owner of the hotel doesn't take care of rooms, they are old, furniture is old.

Review 42:The view from the terrace was super!

Review 43:Beautiful place, fantastic stuff, location is great. Best sunset ever from balcony.

Review 44:If you are looking for an old , like fungus smelling room with worn-out furniture and bed, stop looking. This is the place!

Review 45:location is ok.

Review 46:..they should work a bit on their WIFI connection

Review 47:...the location is just amazing.

Review 48:WIFI available only in main building and it was very hard to get connected to see on line maps etc..

Review 49:Not clean, Wall in front of window, just bad. I told the Lady all this and took a room in a ohter good hotel.

Review 50:It was really nice holiday.Personal was very friendly to us. Apartments are big and very well ecquiped. We were really satisfied.

Review 51:Nichts

Review 52:Nature und sauber Zimmer

Review 53:Perfect location, quiet and the staff really friendly. The stairs will be a problem just if you have low mobility.

Review 54:Friendly staff, good location, close to the sea.

Review 55:They gave us appartement by mistake (we booked only room), but they left us there and we paid initial price.

Review 56:Small car park

Review 57:Sea views personalised styling friendly owner

Review 58:Beautiful room with a view! The hotel is nice, full of art in every corner, very peaceful and romantic atmosphere.

Review 59:Everything was perfect! Margrit (the owner of the hotel) gave us a very warm welcome and was very helpful and nice to us all the time. We stayed in Schwanen house, room was comfortable, perfectly clean and with a precious view on the sunset. Everyone is certainly going to love eating breakfast while watching the "hafen", Kap Arkona and sea. Feel in love with this place. Unique views, long walks in woods, chalk cliffs, calm and relaxed spirit, marvellous beaches, history just few steps away (Prora). Wish this place and everything there stayed like this for forever.

Review 60:We had a ground floor room and there was an unfortunately located garden shed blocking part of the panoramic view we'd paid for! I don't know that Lohme is the best location in Rügen, it was pretty quiet - there seemed to be other towns with more going on.

Review 61:The room was really spacious and looked right over the water. Breakfast was just in the next building and was okay, but not great. WiFi worked and we were able to park right outside. Frau Hönig was a very friendly and lovely host.

Review 62:If you have trouble with steps or stairs, Lohme is not for you. The Ostsee Garten is getting old and dated, but thats part of its charm for us, but may not suit some people.

Review 63:The Location was fabulous. The room with a balcony and sea view, overlooking the harbour was great. The sunsets are awesome. The local town is beautiful and Jasmund National Park is a pleasure to walk in. The owner could not have been more helpful or accommodating, she really cares for the guests.

Review 64:The bathroom was a bit small and in general the hotel is a bit tired but it was clean and comfortable.

Review 65:The view from our room was panoramic sea view, very pretty location and perfect base for walking the forest and access to the famous cliffs. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

Review 66:We had to live at another hotel than we were booked. Room was not very clean, we had some problems with hot water. We did not ordered breakfast because of strange smells in the lobby and lack of clean. Wifi did not worked.

Review 67:Location perfect, we got sea view through the window, it was amazing. Near the nationalpark Jasmund.

Review 68:Unfortunately, despite what the description says, the wi-fi connection is unreliable.

Review 69:The room had a gorgeous view over the Baltic sea. It is clean and spacious. The owner/manager is very very nice. The food served in the morning and in the evening is very good. It is located at the end of the road on Rügen island in a very quiet and charming village.

Review 70:The information on the webside was quite confusing. The description does not make it very clear that some appartments are located in other houses and it's not cleare which foto relates to your appartment. In the hotel house Zum Piraten internet is available only 2 Hrs a day and it's very slow connection.

Review 71:Am Ostseegarten Hotel is a decent accomodation. My appartment was located in a second house of the hotel (zum Piraten), whose location is not so scening, but there is a very good restaurant downstairs.

Review 72:The check-in conditions are a bit drastic and should be made much more obvious.

Review 73:The owner Margret is a character and she is great fun as well as being really helpful.

Review 74:Breakfast was not good, so we took in another hotel. There are three houses so we have gotten another room than the nice pictures. The room was small but ok. We cleaned six spiders on the first day. The room has been cleaned every day, however, the quality was quite poor for the price.

Review 75:Location is really nice and there are many things to see, beaches to visit (by having a car).

Review 76:Our room was located in a different building/hotel than the one thatis published in booking.com. The room 'with the veiw to thegarden' was facing the parking and we heard all the cars and peoplethat went to or from the parking. The room itself was smelly and whenyou open a door or a window the smell of the house's fish resturantovercome you..

Review 77:The owner was very freindly an helped us with maps and info. The area isbeautiful with many points of interest.

Review 78:The location is just perfect and the "room" we stayed in was amazing! We had reserved a junior suite, but the owner suggested that we should try the penthouse instead. She was so right! We could have spent the whole day there, enjoying the view over the Baltic Sea. Nothing to complain about anything else, either - but the sea view was just too perfect! We'll be back.

Review 79:We had problems finding the hotel. We booked two rooms, with an extrabed in one of the rooms, but on arrival we learned that there are noextra beds. (I am not sure whether the hotel or the booking.com are tobe blamed for this.) We fixed the problem, as one of the rooms had asofa large enough for one of the children. We could not pay by creditcard. (We knew this and brought cash - problem solved.)

Review 80:We only stayed at the hotel for one night, since we needed accomodationclose to the ferry in Sassnitz as our ferry left very early thefollowing morning. The hotel suited our needs very well. We were met bya very friendly greeting on arrival. The rooms were nice enough for theprice we payed. The surroundings, both the nature and the town, arebeautiful - somewhat a pity that we only stayed overnight.

Review 81:We got a room in another building which didn´t have Wifi. Not enough water in the morning for a shower if more people have shower at the same time. It said a free bottle of wine was included but we didn´t get any.

Review 82:Nice view, clean rooms, quiet and peaceful

Review 83:Our friends stayed in the sea front building with undestructed sea view, but room was very small and needs refurmishment.

Review 84:Room/Appartment in second row building was large and in very good condition, but with slight sea view. On ground parking. Good breakfast. Hiking along the coast line.

Review 85:I would never recommend to visit Lohme if you do not have a car or at least a bike. Public transportation is very poor and no banks are around. If you need to exchange currency, you are out of luck. Only one store in the village where you can buy almost nothing, which open only couple of hours a day, worse if it is Saturday or Sunday.

Review 86:The owner was weird: kept smiling, but actually was malicious andunfriendly to us. The place seemed to be run very chaotically. When wearrived, it looked deserted - no reception, nobody around. Eventuallythe owner was found in another building (not so close) - ok, it wasafter 7 P.M. (you have only 3 hrs per day to check-in, 4-7 P.M.!), butit's obvious that such situations may happen, and there was noinformation what to do. Then she shouted to us: "But no eating inthe room" when she found out we didn't want breakfast. She saidshe didn't accept payments by card, so we had to go for cash to thetown nearby to pay for our stay. And she was mad at us, saying it waswritten in the internet she only accepts cash, which was not true! Therewere also some other snags. So I recommend the real hotel nearby, thestaff seemed much nicer and more professional (we ate there).
