Reviews for Amalienhof Hotel und Apartment

Review 1:Check carefully that the *double* doors to the room are actually locked properly as it can be easy to pull them open. While wifi (apparently via power-line connected access points) has rather limited bandwidth.

Review 2:Very convenient location for uni. Reasonable wifi for e-mail, etc. and good rooms.

Review 3:We were split between the main building and an annex across the parking lot and the website does not clearly specify that the annex has no wi-fi. We would not have stayed there had we known we'd have to sit in the lobby to get on the internet. Also, 15 euro for a 9yo to eat breakfast is ridiculous. My elderly mother, who stayed in the main house was delighted with her room and could not stop complimenting the facility, but my sister and our families who stayed in the annex were disappointed. The rooms are quite smaller and plainer than promoted on the website. We probably would have selected Amalienhof anyway, but would have chosen the hotel, vice annex, rooms. It's a lovely hotel, but I feel they misrepresent themselves a little online and that is what was disappointing. One shouldn't have to read between the lines or small print to have a clear understanding of what to expect.

Review 4:The location was great, breakfast was nice, and the parking convenient and easy to access. The full windows in the breakfast room allow ample light, which is very nice and fresh feeling.

Review 5:Our room was at the front of the hotel. Across the street is a square that is a hang out spot for locals until late. We got little sleep due to noise. The ear plugs left on the bedside table weren't that useful either.

Review 6:Small thing but the Orange juice with breakfast was bottled and not fresh.

Review 7:Friendly and helpful staff, good location convenient to every place in the town, quiet and clean rooms. Good price.

Review 8:The muzak in the breakfast room. I mean, why?

Review 9:The Amalienhof has the feel of a large house rather than an hotel – delightfully friendly staff, excellent breakfast and the odd antique, all a few metres from the centre of Weimar. And at a price for three nights that wouldn't get you one in many lesser hotels. Just excellent.

Review 10:Only a small issue but the bathroom in our room was a tad cramped.

Review 11:The staff here could teach many in the industry how to look after guests and go the extra mile.It was an absolute pleasure to stay here, excellent beds, tasty breakfast, location (2 mins walk to centre),free use of electric bike, but you need to book it.

Review 12:There was nothing that we did not like!

Review 13:It is a lovely hotel with good quality furniture and fittings. Bedroom and bathroom were spacious and breakfast was very good. Very good location.

Review 14:I would suggest the use of "Tischabfalleimer"during breakfast...

Review 15:- the furniture! - the drinks in the lobby! - the prolonged use of the parking lot after checking out!

Review 16:Several things stand out: Too noisy, bed uncomfortable, no A/C. I couldn't sleep most of the night. Bathroom had a very bad smell and no toiletries were provided. There was only pink colored liquid soap that in my opinion was mixed with water to increase the quantity.

Review 17:Breakfast is good and staff helpful. There is a parking slot for free. There is complementary coffee/water/juice at the reception.

Review 46:We happened to have very hot weather during our stay and the room gotquite warm at night. Since it faced a busy street opening windows wasnot an option

Review 47:A charming hotel, excellent location, very friendly staff, greatbreakfast.

Review 48:Walking distance to all the Weimar sights. Staff friendly and helpful. Elegant hotel with nice antique touch but all modern facilities and good, white cotton napkin breakfast. We stayed in Gropius-Van De Velde room. Knowing that Van De Velde is a Belgian who wrote Bauhaus-history in Weimar this particularly pleased us. Next time Weimar is definitely Amalienhof.

Review 49:You need to ask the staff for the internet connection, it's a wired box,and the speed is very slow...

Review 50:Location (near Bach House, bus stop, Bauhaus University, GoetheGarden) is great, 5 mins bus route from main station and can walk thrulanes to the town central (Goethe Platz). Buffet breakfast is good, staff are friendly.
