Review 1：Limited places to eat. Recommend guesthouse on way up bluff.

Review 2：Great hiking location. Cozy farmhouse atmosphere. Breakfast was great. Our room had a wintergarden, nook that was delightful for reading.

Review 3：I knew there was no internet (like much of Germany - I think most people must use data-roaming) and I speak German, so could watch the TV for weather etc, so not having access didn't bother me.

Review 4：I was lucky to be given a bigger room than the single one I had booked and it was great - fridge and facilities for basic homecooking were just what I needed, and there was a TV. The location is really great and there were lovely views over the rooftops from my windows. I had no car but read the info online about buses from the station and there was one a few minutes after my train arrived so that was fine. I knew I'd have to bring up supplies from Bad Schandau but the walk up the hill is not so bad - there is a well-stocked supermarket in BS that opens until 8pm. There are a couple of restaurants in Ostrau but they seem to get full pretty quickly and people tend to eat early. The breakfasts at the Ostrauerhof were excellent and well worth the extra cost, especially if you are planning to go walking and this is an excellent base for that. I did find that getting around to other walk-start areas, for example to Kurort Rathen is quicker and easier by train than bus. The buses from Ostrau are every hour or so and seem to connect well with the ferry to the station.

Review 13：We spent one night there before we started our trip in the national park. The place is really well located to start or end your trip or even just enjoy the area. We received a perfect two-bedroom apartment with a balcony and a well equipped kitchen.

The information on booking.com 'thatthis Accommodation property was not affected by local flooding'already misleading, because it sets a proximity to Bad Schandau, whichis not given. For travellers without a own car is this accommodationalone bad because of the bad connection by the public transport.Suitable is it in Ostrava to buy any possibilities. So we were forced tochoose the overpriced breakfast (9.-€ P. P.). It offers a range of whileall discount products and crisp bread. There was coffee but also plentybut this tasted horrible. The advantage of the coffee was so horriblethat you no later than after the first Cup be awake. Also, the juicesoffered for breakfast are only inferior fruit juice drinks. That'swhy we found clearly overpriced alone the price for breakfast. We wouldhave gladly paid the price for a quality higher quality breakfast.The rooms are extremely noisy and poorly soundproofed. So, you can hear every step which is taken in the room above you and when showering in the next room you get the impression it would be showered in the middle of your own room. Instead of the promised kitchen we found only a very small Kitchenette recess.Room decor is brightly checked together, so that they appear unkind furnished. Also the work carried out in the bathroom etc. are of noticeably poor quality craftsmanship. The shower head reminded me of models made in GDR times. Also there were no toiletries, even soap in the bathroom. The room was cleaned once during our stay, which would be OK, if we had been informed about it.The owners are professionally friendly. Mr Marx (the owner) is complaining about competitors working with Czech personnel, the lady who cleans the rooms at him but also from the Czech Republic.No one was present in the guest house to check-in and we had to call, so that we could move into our room.

As it was a holiday apartment and not a hotel we did not expect anyone to come into our apartment. All our private belongings/valuables were openly visible.

Review 56：Not a dislike, just drawing a little problem to the attention of other visitors. The separate No.252 bus timetables can be misleading. It is essential to consult both inward AND outward parts to identify all of the buses leaving Ostrau for Bad Schandau (for example) as some go there via Schmilka (taking just a few minutes longer).

Review 57：The 'room' we had booked far exceeded our expectations as what we were allocated was really an apartment. The owners were friendly and helpful, despite being very busy, and the buffet breakfasts were splendid. The garden there is a very pleasant place to enjoy a warm summer's evening. Ostrau is a lovely, quiet location with a few restaurants (but no shops). We had no car but used buses to visit Bastei and Konigstein (both superb) without difficulty. A National Park bus (strongly recommended) took us from Bad Schandau to the top at Bastei .

Being tall (6 ft), I kept hitting my head on the ceiling in bathroom and bedroom that was sloped since it was part of a converted attic. The most troubling thing was there were no good reading lights in the bed room or living room. The lights next to the bed were useless and the ceiling light was no help for reading. My wife used her flashlight to get enough light to read. Missed Internet connection but not a major negative for us

Review 65：The apartment we had was in a seperate location from the main building. Good amount of space in the apartment and it was clean. Kitchen was good. We did not pay the extra for breakfast since we had the kitchen. The cost of the apartment still made it good value. I would recommend staying there if you do not intend to read in the evening.

Ich habe von der Gastwirtin erfahren, dass auch keine Seife zur Zimmereinrichtung gehoert. Das ist auch keine Kostbarkeit und es lohnt sich nicht den ganzen Eindruck von diesem angenehmen Ort wegen so einer Kleinigkeit zu verderben). 2. Leider nur Barzahlung moeglich.

For those who havenever been in Ostrau don't follow the road suggested in booking.com,that is closed to the traffic. People coming from Dresden must pass BadSchandau and then turn left to Ostrau.

Review 79：Be warned - the house is in a little village and access without a car isonly by an infrequent bus service. A hire car should be considered. Theflip side is the walks around the area are super. My main complaintabout the room was a lack of hot drink making facilities, and lack of acurtain in the bedroom, but I have had that elsewhere in Germany, somaybe that is a German thing.

Review 80：The Ostrauer Hof is a little family-run guest house in a small village alittle way off the beaten track of Bad Schandau. I had a comfortableroom with a separate sitting room and comfortable bed. The owner is veryfriendly and lays on a sumptuous breakfast spread. The house has easyaccess to some wonderful walks and super mountain and forest views.

Review 81：Located far away from the town center, bus/train station. There are one bus, that stop service at 6 pm. And you have no way to get there after this time, exception by walk (2 km uphill). If you without vehicle it would be kind of problem.
