Reviews for Maritim Hotel Mannheim

Review 1:We had kindly requested when we booked and also at check-in for a room with a view, but in stead we were placed in room 133, where we watched for 3 days a rather ugly and high building. Somewhat depressing. Also I do not really understand why there is smoking in the bar and they are even advertizing this 'bei uns können Sie rauchen'. No second time here for us.

Review 2:Good location in city center

Review 3:The free Wifi caused a couple of problems, but were quickly resolved by the front desk.

Review 4:I requested a room with balcony and twin beds, and the courteous, professional staff came through with a room that included both, plus a killer view of Mannheim's historic Wasserturm. There aren't many rooms with a balcony, with twin beds, but what they provided was large by any standard and very comfortable. The restaurant served up fine food at reasonable prices, and room service was prompt when called upon. This was our third trip to Mannheim, the first staying at the Maritim, but will definitely book there on future visits.

Review 5:this hotel does not have private garage. We parked our car at the tiefgarage arranged by hotel and one hour later someone broke into the car and stolen my belongings. They don't even have one camera in the garage. As a foreigner, I asked the hotel reception to help me call the police but they only told me the location of police station nearby. On the day checkout they ask for parking fee as nothing has happened and the hotel price was higher than showed on booking. I argued that I should not pay the parking at least and they didn't apologize at all!

Review 6:Nothing is recommended except the restaurant.

Review 7:1) room outdated (carpet/TV/Airco) 2) crowded breakfast area (with good breakfast however) in the cellar 3) feather pillows for which i found to be allergic (in the middle of the night...)

Review 8:friendly and professional personell in the reception, hotel bar and breakfast area ; good location in the city center

Review 9:Some of the staff members were not so friendly, and the WiFi was weak. Parking costs 18 € daily.

Review 10:It is in the centre of Mannheim, and next to the shopping area. There is a laundromat just behind it. Parking is connected to the hotel via underground tunnel.

Review 11:Dated small room with more things wrong than right, the hanging rail fell off, the shower curtain was old and I hate shower curtains anyway. The paid wifi was intermittent and it added 30 minutes to my movie time on netflix. Finally and most annoying was the barging in of the housekeeping everyday at 8.30am (be ready to get caught in the shower or woken up with someone in your room.

Review 12:The bed was comfortable and the location good. I like Maritim and stay regularly at the Dusseldorf Airport Maritim but this one is not meting the brand standards.

Review 13:The WiFi speed and reception is very poor. The price for breakfast is high. The AC can not be switched manually.

Review 14:The location to the station and Tram stops are very good. There are many good restaurants close by. The Hotel is very beautiful and the gardens in front is peaceful.

Review 15:If you book the promo offer, you'd be probably put on the top floor (no elevator), in a tiny pigeon hole. Fine for a solo traveler for a couple of nights but I prefer modern hotels with big beds.

Review 16:Swimming pool and sauna area, however fitness room is really small.

Review 17:Not clean Old furniture So old TV 2 limited devices only for free wifi

Review 18:Location Availability of swimming pool as most of the hotels in mannheim have no pools Balcony view

Review 19:The toilets were really old and had problem with the shower and also the toilets very not functioning good. May be they need to do a small renevoation. There are no main lights in the room it was always dark only bedlamps in the room too many books and brouchers on the table no space. No flat screen TV very very very old small TV which i never saw in any Hotel and this hotel is a Park Hotel i suppose 4-5 star hotel and during my stay always the swimming pool was closed

Review 20:It is really located in the city center nice view they can make it more better by

Review 21:The interior was old.... sort of drag. The room was clean but dusty. I am wondering it the room was not occupied for a while. I love Mannheim which deserves better than this.

Review 22:Quality of staff. efficient and courteous.

Review 23:Very dusty hotel, no air in all the areas. Room was OK but one needs to sleep with open window. Nice building but quite old and decadent, a renovation is necessary.

Review 24:The room was small and with an old small television (no flatscreen), small bathroom and synthetic bed covers. This was mor 2 star than 4.

Review 25:the quality of the food of restaurant in the evening and breakfest in the morning is excellent, but at the high end of the pricing.

Review 26:Rooms were small, dull, and uninviting. 40 year old television (only one English channel) and WiFi slow when it actually worked.

Review 27:City centre with paid parking available

Review 28:Nothing bad apart from having to leave :0)

Review 29:We booked two rooms at 6pm and arrived at 7pm. From our welcome at check-in onwards every member of staff we came across were perfect, their hospitality and efficiency was 100%. There are not many hotels who get everything right but in our experience the whole team at this beautiful hotel have hospitality and tourism duties absolutely perfect. Evening receptionist (male) and then the morning receptionist (male) were perfect hosts, informing us about every aspect of the hotel and the city we enquired about in a friendly and professional manner. 10/10 well done to all the team at the Maritim Hotel Mannheim. They have actually ensured that we come back to visit Mannheim for a holiday as opposed to stopping over en-route from the Alps to Amsterdam, the staff are truly tourism ambassadors for this fine city.

Review 30:The bar is located at the ground floor with open access to the reception area. Since smoking is allowed at the bar, the entire entrance to the hotel is wrapped in smoke smell

Review 31:One young gentleman working at The front desk was deeply compassionate and fair.

Review 32:Asked for quiet room. Arrived at 1 am after 11 hour drive in rain. Called before the drive to confirm reservation. Original room request messed up- put in new room by 4 am - woken to jackhammer at 7:45 am - bed literally shaking. At 11 moved to suite, exhausted. Discovered after move that it was with heated water bed that no one knew how to turn off - horrible. Told they would hold new room after three. Woke to "no rooms". On insistance room was found after telling me only room left was one next to jack hammers again. They were tearing down art museum next door. Missed entire day and night of conference I had come for. Have stayed here many years - it is not the same hotel it used to be.

Review 33:Litteraly next door just started large construction site of Opera or something. A lot of noise and vibration from it already at 7AM. Hotel needs renovation.

Review 34:It has fantastic location, beautiful hotel, parking super close.

Review 35:WiFi not free.

Review 36:Nominal fee for my 2.3 kg, 18 year old, deaf, blind Chihuahua was 10Euro, comfortable bed, pillow, duvet. Easy walk from parking garagethrough tunnel into hotel and up to all levels of hotel and rooms vialift. Beautiful reception area, cigar bar, boutique, dining facility.Location is prime with the Wasserturm Park across the street and theRosengarten just on the other side of the horseshoe loop. Nearbymuseums, boutiques, cafes and other places of interest within centralMannheim within easy walking distance. Highly recommend!!!

Review 37:room was dark and smelly -tiles in bathroom cracked -wallpaper old peeling with yellow brown stains -door to room did not go to floor and noise from hall were loud and smells from public toilets nearby were awful

Review 38:the staff was wonderful

Review 39:Smoking allowed in the Bar however it's not just the Hotel we noticed it in general around the restaurants and F1 circuit. Please note in the Hotel you couldn't smell it the ventilation was excellent.

Review 40:We stayed at the Maritim as we were at this years German GP. Excellent Hotel and location for Hockenheim. - Only 20mins away. We had a great time meeting others and were made very welcome.

Review 41:A new shower curtain and television would be a good idea.

Review 42:No coffe or tea making facilities and also no bottled water in room.

Review 43:Comfort and location.

Review 44:Air conditioning and friendly staff.

Review 45:Limited menu in restaurant. Decided to eat out

Review 46:Parking and next to shopping area

Review 47:Nothing

Review 48:Too small a room & bed was lousy !

Review 49:The location is abousolutely Fabulous !

Review 50:noisy building-site next to hotel 18€ for parking difficult access with luggage

Review 51:easy check-in clean room central location

Review 52:Air conditioning not active

Review 53:the room had kind of smell.

Review 54:Apalling smell of smoke in the lobby and the corridors

Review 55:Requested smoking room as per booking selection but informed it is non smoking hotel at reception

Review 56:poor rooms assigned to us. protest and a threat to chenage hotels made them give us better rooms

Review 57:breakfast' location

Review 58:Kind and helpful personnel. Ideal location!

Review 59:The food, swimming pool & location

Review 60:breakfast a bit too expensive

Review 61:location best, overall atmosphere, great bar

Review 62:The rooms are very small and outdated, especially the bathroom felt archaic. I paid for the "comfort" room, and I can't imagine how much more basic the "standard" room could possibly have been. The WiFi situation is a disaster. There are no key cards, just huge key fobs.

Review 63:The staff is friendly and reasonably accommodating, the rooms are clean and in order, the location is excellent, great access to the parking garage. The hotel is very quiet.

Review 64:It is a long time since this hotel has it's prime time. Renovation is needed.

Review 65:I got the nostalgic "Back to the 90'ties room with old pricture tube TV and ISDN plug in the wall. Excelent staff Very good coocked breakfast with large glases for the orange juice!

Review 66:I have stayed in the hotel many times over many years and it is always a pleasure. Intimate and central. Like it very much. Should have free WiFi and breakfast included. At 19 euro it is too expensive.

Review 67:Parking facilities with maximum height of 1,85 m. Did not receive much help to park my VW multi van. Smoke smell in the elevator from the restaurant.

Review 68:charge for Wifi and basid TV

Review 69:This is a lovely hotell. The rooms are beautifullydecorzted and kept. It is quiet. However, there is a charge for WiFi and for even basic TV. Shouldn't e at that cost. Breakfast is not included and is a hefty 20 euros.

Review 70:Only a small swimming pool, so no power lengths! Breakfast was a bit onthe expensive side (€19) - all I wanted was a bowl of fruit and yoghurt!

Review 71:The swimming pool was completely empty at 6:30am - it was lovely, tranquil place. The view from my room on the 6th floor over the"Wasserturm" was amazing.

Review 72:smoking room considerably smaller than non-smoking at the same rate ! would have apreciated assistance with the luggage upon arrival up the stairs at the entrance door.

Review 73:Classic Hotel, central location, friendly and helpful staff, nice view to the 'Wasser Turm, Balkony

Review 74:No free or hotel offered wifi. Not even in lobby. Still you can buy itvia third party wifi providers.

Review 75:Location and very nice park just in front of hotel

Review 76:Breakfast not included in the price. Incredibly long cues at the reception desk - always (morning/afternoon), even if you just wanted to get a key.

Review 77:Excellent location in a very centre of the city.

Review 78:At first they gave me a standard double (with 2 small beds) butI've booked single suite. The explanation was: "sorry but wesold out and couldn't do anything" even they didn'tpropose me money back for the room rate difference. Only after longdiscussions and request to call to hotel manager (time was 22.00) theygave me the Suite room.

Review 79:Hotel staff in restaurant was very friendly and extremely speedy without pulling the plate from you when having your last bite. Excellent room (234, colleague was in 235) with very good value for money. Huge balcony.

Review 80:- The reception were very aggressive and they are not polite and even they dont have the basics of good hospitality. - The room are very very basic and dosnt worth at all the money we spent for it. - TV is very old model and the room furnitures are old , also, there is no shower gel or shower shampoo. - Breakfast is too poor. - ladies in the recpetion ignoring the guests, showing themselves busy, and you need to call them two or three times until they answer you. - Generally speaking, it is the worst hotel ever i have seen in my life and the things make it more worse is the staff.

Review 81:It is in front of nice Garden, and it just too close to the Congress Building for conferences. Bed was ok.

Review 82:The breakfast is served in the basement dining room. I stayed on aparticularly hot day (29 degrees centigrade outside) and the breakfastroom was very humid with no air circulation. I accept that it isdifficult to heat and cool old buildings, particularly in what wasprobably originally a cellar. It was slightly uncomfortable, but did notnegatively impact my stay.

Review 83:The building is attractive and imposing The facilities are good and thestaff are very friendly

Review 84:Needs renovation urgently. Feels like you are back in the 70's
