Reviews for Romantik Hotel Dorotheenhof Weimar
Review 1:The hotel is not really in the town itself, so be prepared to drive downtown if you want to see something of beautiful Weimar.
Review 2:Comfortable room, cleanliness, quiet
Review 3:Communication between the Spa and the hotel staff was very poor, even as they had a physical connection via an interior corridor, which you had to use in bathrob attire to access the spa, as they have no changing rooms.
Review 4:The room was very clean and well appointed. The location was quiet with great surroundings, very green. Only five minutes away from the center of Weimar
Review 5:Fully booked for the night we arrived, got upgrade to a larger room under the roof. Not clean, missed second towel (which was provided while we went to Dinner downtown), we can not recommend based on our stay..
Review 6:Hotel is located north of Weimar, but only short drive, quiet, friendly staff
Review 7:Nothing.
Review 8:Excellent location surrounded by nature. Nice bicycle ride ( 4 km) to center of Weimar. Rooms are not too big but include all required comfort. Nice breakfast. Excellent value for money.
Review 9:We arrived a little late. Nevertheless, we were still able to enjoy our dinner very relaxed. We slept with the window wide open and outside it was very quiet. So, we slept well.
Review 10:Not really within walking distance to centre of Weimar. Had to take a bus, not the best thing on a romantic weekend out.
Review 11:The hotel itself is very nice. No negative comments.
Review 12:You can drive your car to the hotel first to drop your bags but after, must park in an open area about 5 minutes away. It is expensive but it allows people to freely walk the quaint old streets without having to avoid cars.
Review 13:Hotel is ideally located, right next to the river and with the window open, you can hear the beautiful sound of the rushing water. Also from each room there is a spectacular view of the old castle, also well lit at night. Breakfast is quite good. There are a variety of restaurants in the town. I was upgraded a room probably because I had stayed there a couple of times before.
Review 14:No air conditioner.
Review 15:Part of the romantic hotels list. The location of the hotel is good with a nice and quiet outdoor. Fruit trees and a vegetable garden was nice as well. The hotel has 2 restaurants wich is a plus. Breakfast was also good.
Review 16:The hotel is totally renewed in 2014, but it still smells like it (glue or something else). It was hot in the summer as they have no airco.
Review 17:We had a great dinner at the alboths restaurant. It is great that you can combine the different courses and that they serve a wine per course. Pretty expensive, but worth the money. Nice and cousy red restaurant. Location of the hotel is good. Nice and quiet.
Review 18:The smell in the room and hallway of the glue used to install the brand new carpet. Awful! Something should be done before getting guests to sleep with that smell. Beds too hard, I m sorry.
Review 19:The garden, the lavender bushes. The brand new bathroom, the slippers.
Review 20:Everything was clean and professional. A little outside from the city. Very good restaurants.
Review 21:Nothing
Review 22:Typical wellness hotel amid the fields just outside Weimar
Review 23:New carpets still smell horribly
Review 24:Hotel has been renovated completely, esp. Spa area is great
Review 25:Difficult to find in the countryside without GPS. Diner menu somewhat expensive. Very small bathroom.
Review 26:Excellent breakfast, free wifi, free parking. Pleasant dining rooms.
Review 27:The only negatives are: 1. The location: It is on the edge of town and thus a car is preferable to get to it. However I didn't have a car and knew this when I booked, as I checked out the bus services online and found out that they run every 15 minutes during the day. The bus stop is c. 500 yards away up a short cobblestoned hill. The bus runs directly into Weimar centre and I used it a lot during my 3 day stay. It cost 1.90 euros per bus journey, but you can get day-tickets. The location may not suit everyone. 2. No air-conditioning in the rooms. This might be a problem in high summer. It was hot whilst I was there between September 2-6. But I just kept the curtains pulled shut during the day. At night I kept the windows open which worked, as it is so quiet out there. Most hotels in Weimar don't seem to have air-conditioning (or if they do, it is so noisy that it keeps you awake anyway) and thus if you opened the windows at night in a hotel in central Weimar, you would very likely hear traffic noise.
Review 28:The staff at the hotel were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The hotel was very quiet and allowed a good night's sleep because it is on the edge of Weimar (almost in the country). Breakfast was good.
Review 29:The only disadvantage was the location. If you don't have a car you have to take taxis back and forth to the town center, but it isn't really very far and taxis are cheaper than renting a car...plus there are really no parking places in the town center anyway.
Review 30:The hotel is very old fashioned, a real whiff of pre-war Europe. It sits a bit outside the town in a beautiful landscaped park. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the bathrooms modern, the clientele mainly older, refined Europeans (although I saw the staff making an effort to take a dinner order from some French people in English, poor things...so we know they do speak English...I speak German...) The breakfast buffet was abundant and excellent, as they often are in Germany. I understand the hotel restaurants to be first rate but I did not try them. This being my first visit to Weimar I preferred to eat in town. I would certainly stay there again.
Review 31:We stayed only one night. We stayed there 10 years ago and liked it, so we came back. We ate dinner in the restaurant. Everything was excellent. We loved the hotel. The staff was helpful. One man in the restaurant was especially helpful, arranging something not on the menu that I wanted.
Review 32:The room was big, but very hot, we were lucky the weather turned colder. We had to take bath in a bathtube, what was not so comfortable.
Review 33:The hotel is very beautiful, located in a quiet place. The breakfast wasexcellent and the room we stayed in was big and beautiful. Excellentrestaurant, they were very nice when we asked for a sandwich afterarriving late, when kitchen was closing.
Review 34:Bathroom old and small
Review 35:Garden Views
Review 36:can't think of one thing.
Review 37:Pristine setting. Bucolic beauty. Relaxed elegance.
