Reviews for Hotel Manavai

Review 1:Very basic facilities for the price. Free shuttle to airport could only be taken Three and a half hours before the domestic flight to Santiago so had to pay for taxi. Must pay even more for rooms with fridges and air conditioners.

Review 2:Grounds, lounge and breakfast area and location. Staff generally helpful.

Review 3:Internet was explained to be "slow". In fact, so slow that we were never in four days able to download anything at all!!! Hot water twice failed - leading to room changes.

Review 4:Helpful friendly staff, who gave good local advice. Simple but enjoyable breakfast.

Review 5:The internet service was very very poor. We had to revert to the local internet cafe. It is unacceptable that this hotel is saving pennies by having such poor internet speeds when the bulk of it's customers are wealthy tourists requiring good coverage. At $200 a night they should do better.

Review 6:Very good location. Mostly friendly and hepfull staff.

Review 7:The rooms are basic. The beds are not the most comfortable but for a few days are ok. You have to pay for extras - and the extras are not usually things I would consider as extras - for example air conditioning, and the TV.

Review 8:The hotel has a truly authentic Polynesian feel too it. The staff are super friendly and helpful, they really go out of their way to make sure you are having the best possible Easter Island experience. It is in a excellent location, just a short walk from the main area of Hanga Roa, all the restaurants and bars are close by and also car rental places.

Review 9:Annie - the manager's wife who rudely and unprofessionally accostedand berated me for giving a cookie a friendly dog outside the hotelentrance but on the sidewalk/parking area in front. She thenunnecessarily screamed at the dog and chased her away.

Review 10:Location good. Courtyard, pool, and dining area have lovelytropical feel.

Review 11:The hotel and room were showing their age. The price paid is high considering the room, but this is Easter Island, so both things are understandable.

Review 12:Fantastic location, with an easy walk to sites, shops and restaurants. Wonderful staff who were extremely friendly, helpful and tried to make my stay comfortable. Breakfast, pool and wifi all great.

Review 13:I believe many of these have to do with a) the property being on an island with extremely limited and pricey resources b) me being a brat and looking for four seasons type amenities on a holiday inn kind of budget, and c) having no comparison with the peer group on the island. The room first struck me as very basic - some walls made of compressed wood, small windows, wood paneling in the room... However, this all seemed luxurious to folks who stayed at similarly-priced places further away - so I warmed up to those. Plus, the place did feel like home even over my short two days' stay. Booking the tour with the front desk will net you a 10-20% higher charge, and the conversion rate was about 2-3% higher than the standard credit card rate - nickel and diming type things but given the locale, worth it.

Review 14:Perfect location, half a block from the main street and central to everything - never took a cab. Very friendly staff, super-helpful even with unusual requests, beautiful grounds, pool, deck, swings, etc. I loved the hammocks and tree trunk table in my patio, and the room was quite spacious

Review 15:I would not be able to say anything that I did not like at Manavai. Many thanks to all!

Review 16:The very polite and helpful staff made great suggestion for fantastic tours to visit the island, all are worthwhile. Very nice and diverse other guests to meet, beautiful garden with palmtrees, banana trees and a sun bathing terrace that also is awesome to gaze at the stars.

Review 17:*poor breakfast ( lack of variety ) *some renovation required for the rooms, in particular the bathrooms

Review 18:*excellent location *kindness and profesionalism of the recepcionist *great garden that gives a cosy touch

Review 19:Breakfasts monotonous after the first. Beware: absolutely no vehicle insurance in the entire island not even for the locals. But they drive happily without it as sp limits are 30kph in town and 60kph outside.

Review 20:5 mins walk to 5 restaurants near harbour. But bring a torch (flashlight) as there are no street lights. Hotel has the only movie house in the island. Opposite P.O. and 3 mins from car hire and shops. Matured garden full of tall trees.

Review 21:I know everything on Easter Island is expensive, but we paid more thanaverage for this place and found out that it was not worth it. In fact,Manavai was worse than the small B&B place that we also stayed at onthe island. The bed was old and uncomfortable, the room was dark and damp and had no ventilation (no fan, and a $30 charge to use air conditioning), and we had problems with cockroaches and ants in the room. I know this is a tropical place and there will be insects and humidity, but we did not have these problems at the other place we stayed (which was about half the price!). There is wifi, but it is such a slow signal that we could not upload photos (however, this is pretty common throughout the island). Overall, I do NOT recommend Manavai.

Review 22:The staff is helpful and friendly. The outdoor areas are lovely with alot of gardens, flowers, and benches to enjoy it. The location is closeto everything in the center of town.

Review 23:The wifi is slow. But, it is not a big issue....

Review 24:The location is great! Not far from the market, walking distance to the ocean. The staff and manager are friendly. They could book tour, rent a car, book show for the guests, which is really convenient! The hotel has swings!!! And lots of trees. You could be waken up by the birds' singing. Beautiful hotel! Love it! The breakfast is great! Room is a little bit small but very clean! After all, this is the best hotel on the island!

Review 25:The only thing we didn't like was that hotel guests had to pay to see the movie Rapa Nui, which is screened here three times a week. But a minor quibble.

Review 26:We liked almost everything about this lovely hotel. The decor and decorations suited the location, being all made by local artists and giving a very Polynesian (and funky) feel to the place. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially Kim, also known as Kimbra, who helped out a lot with where to visit, changing money etc., and she made us feel very welcome. A bit like a home away from home. The location is also great, very central to everything. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 27:Nothing! Although some people may be expecting a typical hotel - they may be disappointed.

Review 28:Quaint hotel in a very central position with wonderfully helpful friendly staff. Great value and if we are ever in Easter Island again we will definitely stay at the Manavai.

Review 29:Breakfast. It was always the same and you couldn't chose what was in your plate.

Review 30:Staff, definetly. Kimba and Jordy were absolutely kind and helpful! Amazing people.

Review 31:Wifi was slow and patchy but that was a fault of the Island, not the hotel. Showers were a bit cool for the winter season!

Review 32:This hotel outdid all expectations! We booked the hotel thinking it would be a run of the mill base for our trip however not only was the location great but the staff were too. They couldn't do enough to make sure that we got the most out of our time on the Island, arranging everything we needed and giving great advice on tours, restaurants and shows. Would recommend to anyone!!

Review 33:Having to leave. At first not having a restaurant was a bit of a strain, but that was just habit. I got food to take out and the hotel provided plates and silverware to eat with. So all in all, it really wasn't a problem.

Review 34:The staff was very helpful and joyous. There were smiles all around. And the location was very handy.

Review 35:Beautiful traditional hotel in a great location with fantastic staff who made the visit an absolute pleasure. A beautiful oasis, for reflecting on what is important in life!

Review 36:breakfast didnt have much variety but it wasnt a big issue.

Review 37:location to town centre, some Moai sites within walking distance, staff were friendly.

Review 38:Clean and quite easy to sleep Great motel with style of the island

Review 39:Wifi. Poor lighting in the room.

Review 40:Quiet. Beautiful grounds. Excellent staff.

Review 41:The staff and the Location are the best!

Review 42:Staff gave me good sugestions about restaurants and tours.

Review 43:The staff were great! Really helpful and full great ideas to make the most of my time on the island.

Review 44:Charged to see the movie Rapa Nui in general area room (not even in HD). US$6 per person!. Ridiculous as they are an overly expensive hotel/hostal. The room TV was so small and old not worth turning on. Poor level of toiletries. Room lighting level insufficient.

Review 45:Location and garden, also allowed a very late check out on day of departure.

Review 46:Mosquitoes, even with 33% deet repellant. The pool was not cleaned until the day we left so unfortunately the nice pool was not enjoyed by us.

Review 47:Kim was very helpful to us. She made our stay so enjoyable with her tips about exploring the island on our own. Location was excellent. Loved Easter Island visit.

Review 48:The room is too dark.

Review 49:I am glad that I chose this hotel for my stay in Easter Island. Beautiful hotel environment with plants, wooden decors and with a small pool. The hotel staff is polite and unobtrusive. Good location close to the beach and main street.

Review 50:The cost of the room per night ($230 USA) did not jive with the quality of the accommodation. The walls are made out of plywood, and the craftsmanship of the construction appeared sloppy, unimpressive and mismatched. The room had very few lights and the ones it had were extremely dim. On a positive note, we did have our own bathroom, small fridge and AC. Essentially though the rooms are dim and dingy. The island is an expensive place and if you want a "standard hotel" room you have to spend around $400 US per night.

Review 51:Loved the location Honestly, it's the best in town to walking to the shore, or to main street where you find all the shops, car rental business and restaurants. I also loved the amount of plants at the hotel, and the breakfast was wonderful.

Review 52:smell in the room (unfresh, dump) cost of laundry (above double of what we paid elsewhere) internet very slow and only in some areas overpriced (like all accomodation on Easter Island)

Review 53:location swimming pool (tough very small) breakfast (best we had in Chile)

Review 54:Everything was wonderful.

Review 55:Very accommodating of our late check out so we could explore the entire island by bicycle They also picked us up and dropped us off at the airport

Review 56:The hotel was pretty amazing! As soon as you walked through the main arch, you were whisked away to a tropical setting, not unlike the Rapa Nui people experienced, with authentic wooden buildings and layout, with palm trees and other exotic flora decorating the premises! Truly a wonderful place to stay at. Also centrally located, with lovely and friendly staff - I am very happy to have spent my Easter Island experience at Manavai Hotel!

Review 57:Almost no wifi anywhere.

Review 58:Good location. Helpful reception. Nice decorations. Nice sundeck.

Review 59:I liked the service provided by staff

Review 60:Beautiful garden, basic but comfortable rooms, nice breakfast. Keep up the good work, Kim!

Review 61:Friendliness and effectiveness of staff in organizing everything

Review 62:very nice garden and very sweet staff. Lovely hotel.

Review 63:Nothing

Review 64:Location Attention to detail Friendliness

Review 65:Dark rooms

Review 66:Pleasant open dining area, pool and gardens

Review 67:the reception the breakfast the noise in the room

Review 68:localization

Review 69:The entire island has sketchy wi-fi.

Review 70:I was comfortable, safe, close to everything and well cared for. I would stay there again.
