Reviews for Altes Pfarrhaus
Review 1:We were warmly received and had a beautiful large room with a river view. The room was spotless and comfortable. The toiletries provided were of very high quality. I enjoyed them so much that I purchased some online upon my return home. The breakfast was also remarkable in that eggs could be cooked to order and there was a wide selection of foods available. We also had a lovely dinner in the restaurant. Would definitely return to this hotel.
Review 2:Owner was delightful, considerate and very professional, while creating a lovely homeliness to the hotel. The food was very good, location far enough out of Cochem to escape the madness of tour buses and boats but close enough to pop in there.
Review 3:Everything was very good! No negative.
Review 4:Location great and away from busy Cochem in august, but only 15min bike ride to Cochem. Very nice room and new bathroom in our room, all very nicely done. Coffie/tea avail in room and flatscreen TV. Beautiful large garden and lounging area overlooking the river. A joy to return to the garden after a day away! Friendly and helpful staff and everything clean and well taken care of! We did not have breakfast here but it looked very nice from what I could see of it in the morning. Everything very good!
Review 5:That there was a bicycle event with closed roads, but we can not blame Altes Pfarrhouse for that.
Review 6:We got a free upgrade to a big room overlooking the river. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable restaurant. Everything cooked to order. Nice selection of local wines. Secure parking in the yard.
Review 7:Easy access, no hassle, good food and plenty of it, comfortable room and terrace. Close to enough facilities to eat out if you wish but without paying the bigger town prices. Cochem is 5 km away, walked easily if fit. Watching the barges go past is enjoyable. No lift but the exercise going up and down stairs is good for the waistline. :-)
Review 8:The breakfast could be a bit more organized. What was finished was not refilled and the eggs took long to come, so when they came we were already finished.
Review 9:Superb hotel with a great location to reach Cochem. Very clean, organized, good bedding. Friendly staff. Great for the family!
Review 10:They didn't tell us that breakfast was not included in the room rate. We ate, and later found out that we will be charged for breakfast. They could be more transparent with charges.
Review 11:The owners were very accommodating. We checked in late, had to take care of an urgent issue and they were nice enough to let us use their printer and phone. Our room was clean and equipped with modern amenities.
Review 12:We were looking for a hotel near Burg Eltz, Cochem, and Beilstein with easy parking. The property was beautiful, across the street from the river and hillsides of vineyards. The owners speak English and were friendly and helpful. We ate a full breakfast there with eggs cooked to order and had a delicious dinner at the restaurant. We asked the owners for a recommendation for wine tasting and we had a fun, educational time at Gobel Schleyer located a few blocks from the hotel.
Review 13:The location is very nice - close to the bigger town of Cochem with a lot of restaurants and sights, but far enough away that its a little quieter and calmer. The view from our window of the Mosel River was lovely too. The room was clean and comfortable, staff was very friendly, and parking was free and very close.
Review 14:Everything Lovely little town, bike hire and kayaking easily available Accommodation perfect for families, 3 generous double bedrooms, great food, the place is very clean too and run by an easy going dutch couple. We liked it very much and might go back.
Review 15:Our second stay here. Lovely location, lovely hosts, great food. Secure parking for motorcycles.
Review 16:This was a wonderful place to stay. The proprietor, Claudia, was fantastic. She spoke English and was very helpful; and always smiling!!!
Review 17:Amazing place and good facility
Review 18:The food was very tasty and well flavoured.
Review 19:Road noise
Review 20:Excellent staff and great breakfasts
Review 21:No aircon -- even in the premium price 'comfort' room -- whichmeans the bedroom windows have to stay open ....Which means that, from 5am, the traffic noise is pretty relentless. Kept me awake, which is the only spoiler. Great shame.
Review 22:Breakfast was probably the best in three weeks traveling around Europe, cleanliness very good. And owners hardworking and interesting.
Review 23:If possible, request a room on the 2nd floor. The room I had on the first floor (room #4) was very nice and clean and updated, but also looked right out onto the patio, which was a bit awkward when people were around. In the evening as people were enjoying the twilight hours, I could hear all of the talking and laughing quite clearly due to the close proximity and poor sound isolation until everyone left sometime past 11pm.
Review 24:Great location -- as many other reviewers have noted, it is outside of Cochem but just a short bus ride away (about once an hour) that is free for guests. I actually preferred being outside of Cochem as there was more opportunity to relax and enjoy the beauty of the river. Rental bikes are available, but in case they run out (all were being used when I was there), the owner was very kind and directed me to a bike rental shop just 200 meters up the road. Beautiful patio to enjoy in good weather.
Review 25:Would have liked TV instructions in the room. Maybe larger cups in the room for tea.
Review 26:The breakfast! The room and the beds. The owner was wonderful. Wonderful decor. Great location. VG value for money.
Review 27:Price 99,- EUR/room (2 pers.) with breakfast is at the upper limit for the 3 star hotel. The hotel's noise isolation is very poor.
Review 28:They provide very clean facilities and indoor parking possibility next to the river Mosel.
Review 29:The view over the River Mosel The modern refurbished bedroom and shower room Beautiful old exterior of building Friendly host family The dinner in stylish dining room
Review 30:Parking across the main road, but a very minor point.
Review 31:Great staff, very comfortable room, beautiful view of the Mosel slopesvinyards, nice breakfast, very clean facility, charming old housebeautifully redone inside, best shower ever!! Great location a couple ofmiles from Cochem, with bike rentals, wine tasting, Mosel bus and boatstops nearby.
Review 32:We liked the fabulous location right on the Mosel riverbank, the wonderful terrace for relaxing with a drink and eating. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was modern and clean (important!) The owners and personnel were helpful and kind. Last but not least, the food was delicious!
Review 33:The parking was almost non existent (although it is possible to park for free in front of the hotel, by the road). The room was hot. There was no butter at breakfast. Internet is not free.
Review 34:Easy to find, being directly in the road by the Moselle river. Good welcoming staff. Comfortbale beds and nice bathroom. Very good restaurant and terrace. Breakfast ok (good bread and pastries).
Review 35:Charge for wifi was kind of silly but they did not charge us anythingafter all ... Should be included in this day and age. Also charged extra 10 euros each for 2 children per night even though we were staying in 6 bed holiday house with only 4 people. Should be extra only if required a rollaway bed. After all breakfast was not included.
Review 36:We stayed in the Ferien Haus /holiday home which was so comfortablewith up to date furnishings and bathrooms. Well furnished kitchendining area indoors and out, in charming surroundings of half timberedhomes. Tiny village of all vintners, right beside charming spa resorttown. Free bus service included to and from Cochem which is only coupleof miles along river and has wonderful castle to visit and souvenirshops, cages and bars. Moselle much more charming than the Rhine...Must visit Burg Eltz ... Hidden fairy tale castle, run by 33 rdgeneration of family, all furnishings original, from12 th century!!Spectacular 5 days!
Review 37:Excellent hosts and staff. We enjoyed superb weather, which meant that we breakfasted and dined outside everyday on the vast terrace. Plenty of comfy seats there too, to enjoy a 'Bitburger' (or two) after returning from days out. Good choice of Vegetarian dishes on the menu. For those staying several days, the introduction of "Special" dishes of the day (including vegetarian) would be a welcome addition to the menu.
Review 38:We didn't have enough time to enjoy.
Review 39:Owner was very helpful and nice. Breakfast was very good with eggs cooked to order. Mosel river right across the road. Comfortable beds.
Review 40:It is 5km distance to Cochem town, but there is a bus service runningdirectly outside the hotel (free ticket if youre a guest) which wasconvenient
Review 41:The rooms have recently been done and were comfortable to stay in. It isa family run hotel, the owner and his wife were very hospitable. Overallwas a great stay, and would definitely go back!
Review 42:We couldn't stay longer :)
Review 43:The family that ran this place was friendly and helpful. The hotel is great, and the view across the river to the vineyards on the other side was beautiful. Breakfast is great. It's in a great spot with lots of local wine and cheese bars in the same road.
Review 44:We had room nr. 8, which gave a pretty view over the Mosel river. The room was spacious and the twin beds were perfect. Breakfast was excellent, with fresh eggs cooked to taste. The hotel owners are very kind and forthcoming. Ernst (3 km from Cochem) is a good starting point for a tour along the Mosel in both directions. There are many walking and cycling opportunities in the neighbourhood.
Review 45:Proximity and outlook to the Moselle. Very clean and well appointed. Food excellent Staff friendly and helpful Good parking facillities
Review 46:Fantastic place right by the cycle track great terrace nice views Claudia and Rob work very hard to make your stay enjoyable even giving us an early breakfast on departure I thorughly reccomend it.(menus are only in German or Dutch so need to learn some basics)would 100 per cent stay again.
Review 47:We stayed in a room on the first floor and the windows were next to the balcony where people were sitting and chatting.
Review 48:The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a parking space across the street which is very convenient.
Review 49:Our wi-fi connection would time out after 60 minutes. Also, I wouldrecommend new carpeting for our room. The room was clean and well-appointed, but a worn carpet is just that . . . worn . . . and andupgrade to this would accentuate the attention you pay to otheramenities.
Review 50:Beautiful location. We loved strolling along the Mosel River and throughthe tiny streets of the town . . . vineyards, the church, the quietambiance of this setting. Our meals were delightful! The chef is to becommended.
Review 51:Friendly staff who went out of their way to be helpful. We went half board and the food was fantastic (goumet level). RIght by the Mosel cycle track.
Review 52:The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The owners wereclearly living there dream, and they did every thing they could to sharethat joy with their guests.
Review 53:Nice place to stay and not far from Cochem. the food is very good. They take care us very well.
Review 54:Very friendly staff. Nice and clean rooms, super bath rooms.
