Reviews for Bellevue Rheinhotel
Review 1:Customer service was not up to standard. Restaurant "owner" was rude and inconsiderate. Apparent that certain guests were favored.
Review 2:Great location!
Review 3:Our room is situated next to the Church and the bell rings every 15 minutes. Perhaps one could get use to it better than I did.
Review 4:It has a small private pool and wellness area. Do not expect Olympic size pool for laps swimming but it does provide wave resistance and other whirlpool functions. Le Bistro offers good quality food and service staffs are competent and attentive to our needs. Boppard is awarded UNESCO with a more than 2000 years old Roman Castle remains and a hiking and climbing route up the hill with a view over the river Rhein curve.
Review 5:The only gripe was the heating in the room which was a bit fierce - we didn't notice how to regulate it but it didn't spoil our stay.
Review 6:Wonderful location with balcony overlooking the Rhine. Very comfortable room. Hotel restaurant offered a good choice of local food. Staff were on the whole very friendly.
Review 7:Wifi was overly complicated and unreliable, Boppard has very little going on, and the hotel’s clientele seems to include a lot of bus tours with a fairly sedentary crowd, and that made the place less fun.
Review 8:Room size not bad, hotel was clean and quiet, restaurant room service dinner surprisingly good and location was okay, with a decent river view (just across the road), and right at the ferry stop.
Review 9:Wifi was difficult.
Review 10:They gave us a free upgrade to the Rheinhold Suite which was amazingly large and lovely. The location is amazing with views of the Rhein and walking distance to the square and sites. Staff were extremely helpful.
Review 11:I had a large bath room, just I think the shower didn't work. I can have the view of Rhine, but the opposite of the rive is just trees on the mountain, not very open view.
Review 12:The coffee of breakfast tests very good, and there are many beautiful traditional furnitures in the public area of very floor. The local is very close to ferry dock and not far away from the train station.
Review 13:Firstly door key did not work, but first day refused to give a new oneand said it was problem with a door which would be fixed the next day.Instead the man at front desk accompanied to room each time to open. Thenext day I got a new key and was fine. Unnecessary and odd.Second, the room was described as "bright" and "city view". It was neither. In fact, it was so dark even in broad day light you needed the lights on and if you looked in you would think all the curtains were drawn, but they were not. The best description was it was like a cave. It also had no such thing as a city view, it was a view of a tiny courtyard, i.e. a space in the middle of the hotel where there was nothing basically and really you could pick a basement room anywhere you want in and it would be little different than this. When I raised both of these points with the ladies at the front desk, they kept on avoiding the question, even when I showed them a picture I took on my phone, they REFUSED to respond that it was not "bright" and it did not have "a city view", as they described on the booking. They also did not even offer any discount. There was no misunderstanding here either - they spoke good English, I speak good German, and the pictures proved my point. I've traveled all over the world and almost never seen such blatant MISREPRESENTATION and also very bad way to handle it when faced with the facts. Further, when I was discussing at the front desk, an elderly gentleman heard what I was saying and said he had booked a riverview room, and when he arrived they said it was not available and gave room in back....at the same price until he asked for a discount. They pretended to give him a discount but he found out after it was just the rack rate for that room. I felt bad as there seemed to be many elderly guests and hope they do not all have same experiences.
Review 14:Breakfast is good.
Review 15:One young male member of staff was rude, but this was not typical of the staff as a whole.
Review 16:The location on the banks of the Rhine, opportunity for boat trips, and a very comfortable place to stay. Handy walk into the main shopping area.
Review 17:Not a major thing, but worth noting. We found the kettle having some residual water in it. Water gave the impression that it has been there for quite a while. We noted it at the reception, but the Receptionist insisted that the kettle had been made ready for us from the staff. Needless to say, I never found a kettle with water "ready" waiting for me... We did not insist and give up. We got the tea and cake at a local bakery.
Review 18:Hotel is close to the city center. Our room was big and elegant, with a terrace to enjoy the view on the Rein. Very tasty breakfast. We did not have issues with the parking on the river side. At the check out they presented us two bottles of water for our trip.
Review 19:Access (driving) was poor and frustrating with all the little one way streets in a medium size car
Review 20:Stayed in apartment on Rhine River - modern clean spacious & well equipped. The restaurant was excellent!
Review 21:Lack of air conditioning might have been a problem if the weather had been hot.
Review 22:Located on the riverside and with very good breakfasts, it was luxury at a very good price. As the room type we booked was unavailable, we were upgraded to a very spacious apartment in the "Residence"
Review 23:WiFi didn't work in our appartment, we needed to go into the restaurant to access it. The air conditioning unit in this building was not powerful enough and no windows in bedroom in our luxury top dollar apartment. Our neighbours had a similar problem and had to ask for a fan for their small child. We wheeled our beds into the front room by the open floor length windows for a cooler sleep at night.
Review 24:Great location, facilities and presentation.
Review 25:Bathroom very small, no hair conditioner. When ordering a liquor on in the garden restaurant by the waterfront we were told they could not serve it there. If we moved ten feet to the balcony then they could. We found this odd.
Review 26:Wonderful location, right by the waterfront. Beautiful pool and sauna. Very nice historic feel in the hotel. Breakfast very nice. Friendly staff.
Review 27:Rooms a bit hot in the night but to be fair the weather was extremely hot
Review 28:Staff were excellent and always helpful and great views over the Rhine if you have a balcony. I will use this hotel again.
Review 29:Would have liked a diagram showing location of garage in relation to hotel.
Review 30:Excellent hotel opposite the Rhine and only a 5-minute walk away from the town centre. The room was very spacious, comfortable with traditional and tasteful decoration which was the theme throughout the hotel. The tea/coffee making facilities in the room were very welcome. The room was quiet with no noise from the corridors, adjacent rooms or from outside. Car parking in the garage was spacious and close by. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent with many choices. This is my first stay in this hotel and would stay here again if I returned to Boppard.
Review 31:This was our 2nd stay here and once again staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms with Rhine view are a must and I can recommend the restaurant inside or outside on riverbank for a meal. Do reserve parking though in underground garage as there is no room outside hotel and enjoy Boppard's many shops, walks and river cruises.
Review 32:Some of the staff are rude and miserable. The bar opens when they want it open and not the guests.
Review 33:Stayed here many times. It's location is excellent
Review 34:The parking (you need to reserve) is a couple of minutes from the hotel, but that was not a major discomfort.
Review 35:Beautiful décor, nice location in front of the river, friendly staff. Breakfast ok but not special. Boppard is a charming town and convenient for both the rhine valley and the mosel valley.
Review 36:Rather snooty receptionist one evening. Watch out for room service charge if you're looking for ice!!
Review 37:Perfect location. Beautiful setting. Beautiful decor in sumptuous surroundings with antiques and quality furnishings.
Review 38:The only minor complain - the young girl at the reception during check-in was not experienced enough for such high level hotel.
Review 39:We celebrated my wife's 40th birthday and our wedding anniversary in this hotel - were upgraded for free to Bellevue Residentials (150m from the main building) with 2 rooms and large balcony overlooking Rhein! We had our dinner in La Chopin restaurant in the hotel (my wife has got a gift from the restaurant - a bootle of wine and a rose) and then went to hotel's spa comlex with very nice pool, sauna. Also the breakfast next morning was real German style and deliciuos. We had a cup of coffee in our balcony just after sleep and it was really unforgetable experience to put all together. Thank you, hotel management and personell for our fantastic day in Boppard!
Review 40:Nothing. Everything was fine!
Review 41:Really friendly helpful staff. Lovely room overlooking the Rhine. Great breakfast. Was easy to park cheaply in front of hotel.
Review 42:Some of the staff in the restaurant are not so great (except 1 gentleman). No sincere interest, bit of an attitude. The food was OK, nothing really special, not too expensive but not cheap either. Some of the dishes were extremely salty (and we do like our food spicy and salty!). Compared to German standards, a bit disappointing. The shower is a joke, very tiny, more like youth-hostel standards. The sink is at perfect level for an 8-year old, so very low. Pillows were horrible (just a sack of air basically) and the mattresses very hard. Walls are very thin, you can hear phone conversations of neighbors to the word, as well as their toilet flushes and showers. Room was very warm (no aircon), but we opened the balcony doors. My request to reserve a parking space did not come through, but I was offered an alternative spot about a mile away (for free). Since it was raining cats and dogs, not ideal.
Review 43:Location is superb! Some of the staff are very friendly (e.g. the lady at the bar who only worked there for 3 months and the receptionist). Probably the rooms on the riverside have an amazing view (ours didn't, can't judge). Cute little balcony nevertheless (city view, as booked). Nice little touches that give the hotel a classic atmosphere, like the (very slow) old-fashioned elevator with leather seat.
Review 44:There was no air conditioning and the room could get a bit hot.
Review 45:The hotel has the old European hotel character with beautiful furniture and paintings. The pool area was appreciated. The breakfast was absolutely superb. The reception staff were friendly and very professional.
Review 46:Car park whilst good was a little awkward to find, instructions could be clearer.
Review 47:Nice hotel in great position on Rhine promenade. We heard no train noise from our room at the front.
Review 48:Wi-Fi never worked the 3 days we were there. Expect more out of a 4 star hotel.
Review 49:Friendly helpful staff answered our questions in learner's German and English. Fabulous breakfast. Spacious room with balcony on Rhein. Lovely antiques on each floor. Pool and sports club. Working elevator.
Review 50:Great location on the Rhein. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Although could not eat at Restaurant Chopin the normal one served extremely high quality food well supported by the sommelier. Wished we had stayed longer and also had time to use the facilities.
Review 51:Wine expensive For some weird reason the waiter at the outdoor restaurant would not let us pay with our credit card.we had to pay cash and then received reimbursement in cash from reception !!guess he thought best way of getting a tip but not nice
Review 52:Wonderful location on banks of Rhine, very friendly and helpful staff
Review 53:The bathroom in the main lobby had s very bad smell that was prevalent during my entire stay. This was surprising considering the hotel was so clean.
Review 54:The staff was excellent! The food (especially breakfast) was superb!
Review 55:Room not well prepared. Tea bag in kettle, old socks in wardrobe, broken shower door, soap dispenser in shower not working
Review 56:Situation & view, excellent double glazing, good reception in & out
Review 57:Although we got another room with a big balcony, it was very small and stuffy in summer with the thick duvet blanket. Can't complain too much since we opted for the big balcony with a nice view.
Review 58:They were nice enough to swap our room to one with a big balcony overlooking the river Rhein. The original room given to us was very big but the balcony was small and there's an opaque wall surrounding the balcony such that one cannot sit in the balcony and still enjoy the river view. The room also has a clean and beautiful toilet. The hotel was beautiful and charming in general. It has many facilities which we didn't use because the weather outdoor was simply too irresistible. We had to sit outside on the balcony to soak in the beauty of the Rhein.
Review 59:Booked parking but told not available Booked a double - given a twin - had to change rooms. Prices in restaurant very expensive especially wine. Decor shabby and dated.
Review 60:Location
Review 61:The weird upgrade. Poor dining and food
Review 62:Not in main part of hotel. Down the block. Strange huge room. Not cozy. Brand new. Did not consider it a upgrade. I think they needed our room for a large tour Dining not good
Review 63:The location was excellent and there was so much to do around and about.. We parked our car up and we had a train ride into the mountains, a river cruise to Koblenz and ski lift ride to look over Gideon's corner, as well as a tour train ride around Boppard - all excellent value and within walking distance.
Review 64:The double bed separates into twin beds, and tends to roll apart in the middle of the night. Just needs brakes!
Review 65:Great new Apartments in the adjacent brand new addition. Everything is the best, but with beautiful wooden floor and furniture. Breakfast buffet was superb.
Review 66:Due to some pipe problem, we weren't able to get hot water almost 4 hours from 6am. I asked many times when it will be fixed and all I got was "they are working on it and I can't do anything else".. and after the problem was fixed, I didn't get any information so I had to shower with ice cold water in february. Besides that, other staffs were nice and helpful and other things was great
Review 67:Nice and quiet hotel Had a dinner in restaurant and it was good also breakfast was served quite fair Very old and antique, beatiful hotel
Review 68:Parking facilities not ideal. Have to get to car before 0800 to put a parking ticket in car.
Review 69:Lovely Hotel in great location. Nice pool and wellness area.
Review 70:Initial issue re being allocated smoking room when I had asked for a non smoking room. Quickly a & satisfactorily resoved.
Review 71:Helpfulness & efficiency of staff. Great location. Excellent food & local wines.
Review 72:Different style to the normal !Loved the the lift with its leather seat.Views from our bedroom facing the Rhine lovely and would be even better at a different time of the year.
Review 73:Nothing to not like.
Review 74:Fantastic historic hotel. Room overlooking the river is a must. Staff were fantastic and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them to do. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 75:up market restaurant had limited 'gourmet tasting menu' room had shower only
Review 76:proximity to ferry landing site proximity to Rhine hotel restaurant cosy and comfortable bar old world feel
Review 77:The bathroom was a little small and the menu did not have a huge choice although food was good.
Review 78:Situated right on the river with beautiful views and built in 1881, this hotel is beautiful with lots of Art Deco pieces to admire. We had a river view room with balcony and the food is good with a gourmet restaurant as well as the regular one. The train station is very near so we travelled to Koblenz and Mainz and the track runs exactly alongside the Rhein which was wonderful to see.
Review 79:hard to think of anything at all.
Review 80:very friendly staff indeed, nothing was too much trouble. hotel and room lovely with balcony overlooking the Rheine. Breakfast excellent offering a large choice and of good quality. could not fault the hotel - we will return to the rheinhotel without doubt in the future.
Review 81:very busy area outside (not really a dislike, but just a point- you will not be alone walking along the Rhine!)
Review 82:Great location on the Rhine, very convenient day trips to cruise the Rhine- boats across the street, places to walk to for dinner if you wanted other cuisine,
Review 83:The room was perhaps a little old fashioned, (decorated in safe brown, cream and deep red) but this was insignificant in relation to the location and the charming service
Review 84:A pretty, fin de siècle hotel in a very pleasant spot beside the Rhine, home to some extremely distinguished Riesling. I was there for one night and the staff were particularly good humoured and cheerful, coping with a couple of large groups with energy and enthusiasm and still finding time to advise me on eating and places to stop on a possible Rhine ferry trip. The (single) room was comfortable, a little old fashioned, perhaps but with everything I needed. Supper on the riverside terrace (the restaurant was full), basically the same as the room service menu, was straightforward and very pleasant as was the breakfast in the attractive dining room.
Review 85:Small bathroom. Outdated decor but comfortable.
Review 86:Beautiful view, great staff, and wonderful breakfast. Walking path and river perfect setting. Charming.
Review 87:We had a very small and awkwardly designed room (nr 308), without Rhine view, although the price was pretty steep. The bathroom was tiny, with a very low wash-basin and toilet; clearly it was 'carved out' from the room at the latest refurbishment, so that there was no space to move, neither in the bathroom nor in the room itself.
Review 88:Hotel with standing, with early 20th-century furniture. Excellent location, at a couple of meters from the river Rhine; good brasserie (Le Bristol) and restaurant (Le Chopin); perfect wellness (with very pretty Pompeian decorations).
Review 89:It seems to be a hotel with mainly coach parties staying, this made the restaurant very busy at times but other than this is didn't affect us.
Review 90:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, all the staff very efficient and friendly. We had a room overlooking the river with a balcony and would recommend this.
Review 91:Limited Parking near Hotel -(not secure) but they do have a small secureparking lot but this is 150m away and not easy to find. Room size ok butreally in need of modernising. The beds are very Hard and uncomfortable. If you open the windows - its very noisy from the frequent passing oftrains nearby and you get a lot of flies being right next to the river..
Review 92:Location is central with great views of the Rhine. Excellent friendly& helpful staff Great breakfasts - but a little pricey at Euro 15.00extra when you have paid over £150 for a room per night. Better valuemay be found elsewhere..
Review 93:The view from the balcony was beautiful! The staff were amazing, polite and helpful and the waitresses wearing traditional looking clothes/uniforms was something unique - a nice touch!
Review 94:There was no air-con and this was a real problem in the summer months. Local noise prevented open windows and I would expect air-con or at least a fan at this price.
Review 95:Location.
Review 96:A bit noisy when windows open because of the river barges and trains across the river. But you get use to it and made it interesting too
Review 97:We had a large room with lovely bed, comfy chairs and fabulous view over river with small balcony, Step in shower. All excellent, breakfast good too and friendly staff
Review 98:Noise from train but we were expecting this and had ear plugs at night. View outweighed the noise
Review 99:View from balcony across Rhine Leisure facilities (pool) Gardern Bar Breakfast
Review 100:We booked a room advertised as having a Rhine view . It had one very small window and a lot of interior wall which fronted onto the river . You could see the Rhine it's true but only if you moved the furniture and stood in the right place. The service in the restaurant was poor . Everything took ages to arrive even though it was by no means full and there were plenty of staff around . We were never asked whether we wanted a dessert course at all .
Review 101:Comfortable .Good location .Good breakfast .
Review 102:We were unable to access our booked room until 1520 hours. After being told it would be ready at 1400. We returned at 1430 and again at 1500 each time being told "Not ready". Finally at 1520 gained entry.
Review 103:Individual reception staff need to adopt a more friendly approach otherwise other staff we met particularly at the bar and breakfast were excellent.
Review 104:It was perfect.
Review 105:Fantastic location; great facilities; super clean; amazing food; and lovely staff. Can't fault it and will return, again.
Review 106:Nice location. Old fasion style. Good breakfast.
Review 107:good facility
Review 108:poor Wi-Fi
Review 109:Hotel rather dated. Poor choice of tv channels.
Review 110:Location was great although Boppard was very quiet in October!
Review 111:Perfect location, friendly staff, large and lovely room! View unbeatable.
Review 112:Location could not be better. Loved the old charm feel but had newly renovated rooms.
Review 113:Classic beautiful old hotel overlooking the Rhine. The friendly staff. Large room and the view of the river from a small balcony. Excellent breakfast
Review 114:Yery helpfull staff fabulous location
Review 115:Staff attitude
Review 116:Breakfast super
Review 117:We had a very enjoyable stay here. The hotel has every comfort and the bedroom was spacious and very clean.
Review 118:nothing
Review 119:Very nice staff. breakfast fantastic!
Review 120:GOOD FOOD GOOD LOCATION FRIENDLY STAFF
Review 121:Geared to package holidays and not to independent travellers.
Review 122:Great location.
Review 123:Parking facilities were the car park at another hotel a short walk away.
Review 124:Lovely location next to the river
Review 125:No air conditioning as we were there during a sticky heatwave !
Review 126:Location plus great food and drink .The lakeside garden bar was a great facility
Review 127:No air con
Review 128:Leaving
Review 129:Absolutely perfect location.
Review 130:nice big room overlooking the river outdoor dining area great place to watch the world go by.
Review 131:My room did not have a river view.
Review 132:The service was excellent, the location across the river is great, the old school ambiance is stunning.
The Fine Print
