Reviews for Altiplanico Rapa Nui

Review 1:Very expensive we found bugs in the room and horse sh... on the terrace in front of our room (which was not removed notwithstanding our request) no air conditioning no fridge and when we asked for the transfer to the airport they said take a taxi although we had paid 350 usd per night!!!

Review 2:The bungalows are nice and the position is fine although far from the town

Review 3:If I had one complaint it would be that the bed linen and towels are washed in far too much soap - which these days is mainly chemicals - i found these overwhelming, especially amongst such a natural setting.

Review 4:This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. The staff are outstanding. They are in stark contrast to the staff at the '5 star' hotel in Tahiti that we just stayed at and it was a pleasure to experience genuine hospitality.

Review 5:Dinner-nothing speciall,överpriced. It´s something they need to improve. Swimmingpoll is quite small.

Review 6:1.View. 2.Suzuki Jimny we rent from the hotell (the last 500m of the road to hotel is really bad, be carefull if you have a normall car, a kind of SUV make the trip much easier). 3. Staff in the restaurant. Very pleasant. Using english in order to communicate is really possible (be not aware!).

Review 7:To expensive for a room with no wifi (just at the lobby and unbelievble slow), no minibar, no tv an a shower with almost no spurt. The towels have not been changed in 5 days. Very expensive restaurant. The standard of this hotel is not more than 1 or 2 Stars, but they sell the rooms as it has 4 stars with a 5 star price (Same price if you would go to the Ritz Carlton hotel in Santiago de Chile!) Everything together you feel like you are in bad film, when we were having breakfast two craftsmen were starting to work on the terrace! There is to much we don't know, sorry it's not working, we dont't have and the kitchen is closed sorry (for a yogurt) for the very high price.

Review 8:Nice view from the bed to the ocean. Friendly

Review 9:A sign indicating the hotel's last entrance should be included. Place difficult to be found during the evening

Review 10:Breakfast, dinner and warm welcome from the staff

Review 11:- The taxi from and to the airport wasn't included. Small hotels, hostels and guest houses were picking up their guests but Altiplanico didn´T. In the end, the taxi from the airport to the hotel was only usd 8 which could be included in the rate (don´t forget this is a usd 300 per night hotel).- There wasn't any bottled water in the room (a minibar could be nice too). - The bed was pretty uncomfortable since they attached two smaller beds to "make" a king one, which kept on creating a gap.

Review 12:- Very good breakfast.- They have cars for rent which makes it very comfortable.

Review 13:Mattress on the floor- impossible to get in/out if knees are old. Plants that block a lovely ocean view- our WHOLE intent for staying their

Review 14:Views from common area, service

Review 15:Bit of a walk from town but given it passes several Moai along the way one can't really complain!

Review 16:Fantastic views, peaceful, relaxed and great breakfast : )

Review 17:There were a few bugs (rolly pollies) in the bathroom and the hot water went out one day.

Review 18:Hotel staff and service was excellent especially in helping us plan our stay on the island!

Review 19:Road

Review 20:View

Review 21:WiFI only in lobby

Review 22:Great location and staff , peaceful, great views, great accommodations

Review 23:No AC in the rooms but there really isn't AC anywhere on the island.

Review 24:Staff was extremely friendly. Great views. Very nice property.

Review 25:road to hotel wifi

Review 26:bed restaurant view

Review 27:Having a slug in my chicken sandwhich and also a ridiculous amount of bugs in the room. Wifi was slow, if it was even working at all. Power was out for 12 hours one day. All in all, I would give it a 1 star if it was not Easter Island. My expectations were lowered dramatically and it still didn't meet them.

Review 28:Staff were great and rooms were better looking than some on the net.

Review 29:The location is quite far from town, and so it was necessary to take taxis back and forth at $6 a pop. Consequently one must add $12 - $24 a day back and forth for taxis depending on how many trips you take. Sometimes the taxis were quite slow to show up. If you have a rental car it is a perfect place to stay.

Review 30:The facilities were very comfortable with big airy rooms, and wonderful beds, and a helpful responsive staff. The pictures do not do it justice. Some of the food was excellent, some not so much. The food was more expensive than the in town restaurants. The staff was very responsive and tried to do everything to make guests happy. Superb sunset views and wonderfully quiet at night and in the mornings. No animals, and no roosters crowing at dawn

Review 31:Well... the roof of our cabana leaked, and there were massive problems with insects including flies in the lobby (we counted 22 on one window) and ants crawling all over the bed. We brought these to the attention of the staff, who were nice, but seemed unsurprised and couldn't fix the problems. The hotel itself appears to be in a state of disrepair and decline in terms of general maintenance. For example, the walls, floors and furniture were dinged, dented and rusty like you'd expect in a college dorm. It seemed like it hadn't been painted in 10 years, and various walls and floor areas were cracked. Importantly, the cabanas don't have air conditioning and are painted black, so they become ovens that are much hotter than outside. This made sleeping very difficult. Taken together, the condition of our cabana was similar to the condition of $10 backpacker hotels that I stayed in during my youth (probably equating to $40 today). I was very disappointed.

Review 32:The food was absolutely phenomenal at lunch and dinner. Hands down, the best meal that we had on the island were at our very own hotel. In addition, the view and location were wonderful. I liked that the rooms were individual cabanas instead of a large hotel, and the shower had nice high pressure and consistent hot water.

Review 33:no aircondition - cannot use the roon in afternoon and evening before sun is down ants and coqueroches in the bath room extremely expensive

Review 34:staff excellent breakfast very good dinner excellent very good presentation very good quality food wonderful location

Review 35:did not like accommodations. no air conditioning and to leave door opened risked being devoured by mosquitos. our room required 2 fans and we were sweltering, especially me, because I have asthma. beds are on a platform very close to the ground and my husband, who is 6'4", fell trying to get out of bed during the night and cut the entire length of his arm!

Review 36:liked the location, food and staff.

Review 37:N/A.

Review 38:Accommodations on the island are, by nature of the place, somewhat primitive. That said, this hotel was quite comfortable and I would return to this accommodation if I came back.

Review 39:The food was good but it wasn't cheap. But that's the norm forEaster Island and not a criticism of the hotel - just be prepared to payquite a bit. Or to look hard for lower cost options: ask your guide -apparently there are a few around which the locals use.

Review 40:Very pleasant room and helpful staff. My (independent) guide told methat in terms of cost versus quality this is possibly the best option onthe island with some other more expensive hotels actually falling wellbelow the standard of the Altiplanico.

Review 41:No A/C, no screen on doors or windows in order to keep bugs/mosquitoes out, very basic room and furnishings for the price charged.

Review 42:View from the hotel, breakfast, comfortable bed, staff helpful and friendly.

Review 43:There is no telephone in the room, so you can't talk to anyone inthe reception if you need something, specially at night. You have to gothere! There should have a frigobar in room. The walls deserve a repairlike a bit of painting.

Review 44:The view! The ocean os just in front of you. The hotel restaurant ispretty nice. The bathroom is really interesting. The breakfast is goodand the crew is nice.

Review 45:It's very great place where the hotel is located aside the SouthPacific sea, through the window you can see the sea in front of yourbed. The hotel is very quiet and suitable for the couples there. Thebreakfirst is good and also the service is thoughtful, I stronglyrecocmend the dinner there as they have very good cool. We rented a carthere and can drove everywhere in the island, very impressive holidaythere. By the way, there is nearly no light along the road at night, youhave be careful when you drive after darkness.

Review 46:Nothing to dislike

Review 47:Helpful staff, moved us to a better room when it became available (with sea view). They have their own car hire (brand new 4 wheel drive jeep type) at a very competitive rate. Quite location, 20 minutes walk along the coastal path to the small town. Rooms were nicely furnished and had outdoor / indoor showers. The breakfasts were the best we had had (healthy choice) in the whole of our three month trip.

Review 48:Doors should be screened against insects.

Review 49:Staff went out of their way to assist us. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Good proximity to town. Very pleasant central living area.

Review 50:The only negative point we found was that you cannot get WIFI in the room (only in the reception and restaurant area). The other could be that there is no TV at the room, but considering that there are only three channels available at the island, it is not really an issue...

Review 51:First of all, I must say that Easter Island is very expensive, so everything must be kept in context. Considering this factor, the price could be considered as “reasonable”. We did a thorough research and later compared Altiplanico with other sites and confirmed our decision was right. The hotel is a bit far from the town center but the view is beautiful and relaxing. During the day you can take a 30 minutes’ walk by the seashore looking at the moais. The options are taking a taxi ($6) or to rent a car (starting at $70 per day) or a quadbike. All the bungalows are clean and nicely decorated in a rustic fashion. There is no air conditioner at the room, but it was not necessary at night (~18C / 64F) in December. There are two private showers in the room, one inside and a second one outside which turned to be a very pleasant experience. Breakfast is very good, with different options and slight variations every day. Lunch and dinner are excellent and well served with prices similar to other restaurants in town. At every moment you can seat and enjoy a cup of complimentary coffee or tea. The staff is very attentive and tried to help at all times. Beatriz –one of the team- is a lovely woman who not only gave us daily excellent recommendations for recreation activities but also managed to get us a ticket reservation in the first row for a much demanded music/dancing show at “Vai Te Mihi”. We really enjoyed our stay here. Rapa Nui is not a typical place for vacation, but a magical place for relaxing and enjoying the magic of the island.

Review 52:We were very disapointed as our reservation clearly stated sea views forour room and we were given the last Conner room with no views of thesea. When presented with the printed reservation we were offered a roomwith "some" sea views and full road views.Rosita at the reception was most unhelpful.

Review 53:Location with sea views, room where spacious with nice desing, outsideshower amazing. If you like to walk the hotel is 20 minutes from Hanga Roa. The walk is amazing as it goes through Ahu Tahia Natl' Park.

Review 54:Rooms too hot. Not air conditioning system for a room with that price is a lack of respect. No minibar. No chance to buy anything at the hotel beyond drinks and a reduced offer of food from the restaurant.

Review 55:Location. Design.

Review 56:Everything ! The Staff and Hotel were great !

Review 57:Poor illumination of internal paths. Mosquitos.

Review 58:Location. Integration with nature. Views. Shower.

Review 59:The staff are very nice and extremely helpful

Review 60:It needs to be renovated.

Review 61:The facilities are too basic for the category of the hotel and the price

Review 62:Fabulous!

Review 63:Maybe the stuff could help more to tourists by providing us some attractions

Review 64:Very nice and clean place
