Reviews for Hotel Golden Crown

Review 1:They charge me in my home currency (Euro) vs czech koruna which ended up with a 5% mark up (a "scam" known as Dynamic Currency Conversion or DCC). Since I booked a non ref rate with prepay as a present for a friend, I didn't have the choice to choose between the currencies and I couldn't even check it. Keep in mind to always choose the country's currency you're visiting if you're being asked.

Review 2:Good location and nice rooms.

Review 3:Sometimes wi-fi connection is weak.

Review 4:The new and fashioned hotel is sutiated in old building just in the center of Prague. The personel is grateful. The rooms are well equiped.

Review 5:Simple hotel, services at the website of the hotel weren't there actually, the quality of the breakfast was a bit dissapointing, curtains didn't close and there was no shower, view on the city wasn't really a city view

Review 6:Clean and tidy hotel at a good place out of the bustle of the city and close to all the important places

Review 7:On arrival we were told that the staff could arrange a taxi to the airport for 35 Euro for us. The next day I spoke with reception and confirmed the price and asked them to order a taxi for us. 2 mins before the taxi arrived we were told it was 45 Euro. When the driver showed up, he said it was 40 Euro but 4 Euro extra if we paid on card. It soured the experience a bit as had we been given the accurate information we just would have caught the cat to the airport.

Review 8:Liked the location. Good value for money.

Review 9:Unpleasant smell of drains from the bathroom shower, throughout three day stay. Did not complain however, as we reckoned the solution would be to have the place reeking of bleach instead !

Review 10:Easy walking distance from shops, river and landmarks. generous sized quiet rooms.

Review 11:Do not expect a gigantic breakfast selection. Everything one would need is there and the quality of the food is good, including real coffee, fresh from the espresso-machine.

Review 12:Excellent new rooms, and all facilities that one would expect in a **** hotel. Have stayed in ***** hotels with a lower standard

Review 13:No room service for 4* hotel! Wasn't mentioned during the reservation. Bathroom equipment poor. No glass to wash teeth after brushing, no hook to suspend hoose while having shower. No alcohol in Mini Bar except beer! No champagne, no wines, no spirits. Bed duvet separated in 2, really not comfortable to sleep! Only good impression was the location with brand new and quality of construction. The rest is quite disappointing.

Review 14:Staff very nice. Clean. Location. Room Size comfortable.

Review 15:Shame that the hotel didnt have a bar, and for a 4 star room it was strange that none of the curtains fitted the windows so big gaps letting in light but nothing major. but some problems with the air conditioning which meant my room was also chilly which in a cold seansonal period isnt good.

Review 16:good standard hotel very modern, good breakfast

Review 17:Bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. Bathroom was a welcome relief. No view and room was very small. Pictures on website misleading. Breakfast was very basic. Not very friendly staff. Location made up for shortcomings.

Review 18:Excellent location, short walk to attractions in Prague.

Review 19:This hotel was so clean the bed sheets were fluffy and fresh , the mini bar was well stocked , you got a dressing gown and slippers it was as good as the Hilton in my opinion .the breakfast was great and staff friendly .

Review 20:Bit of a problem with the wifi. its not hugely important to me, but it was a bit of a bugger not being able to send/receive emails.

Review 21:I had a room on the forth floor with a small balcony, just wished I was there in a time when I could used it more than December. Great location just opposit the Kafka statue, a short walk from Old town. Very good breakfast with a good selection, easy and efficient check in and out, no problem to store the luggage. No bar or restuarant in the hotel, but that's not a problem for me, had good nights sleep and a very nice and well decorated room. Only problem was that the internet turned out to be a bit slow, couldn't download or send any emails during my stay, always timedout, while logging into any restaurant it all came through.

Review 22:The only disadvantage was in the absent of several basic interior elements required for comfort, like nightstands near the bed and hooks in the bathroom

Review 23:Great location, 7 minutes to Staromestska, 8 minutes to Vaclav square, 3 m from the hotel doors - "Quadro" with restaurants, shops, 2 supermarkets, underground station. Breakfasts - good quality, but not too much choice, excellent coffee. Friendly staff, Very clean

Review 24:There is not a clock in the room. However, a wake-up call for our flight came right on time!

Review 25:Location, location, location! The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good. Rooms were large by European standards. Coffee in the room was a wonderful treat after a cold day sightseeing!

Review 26:Wish there was a cosy outdoor smoking area, but didnt really bother me to be honest. Also our room looked out opposite to some offices and the curtains dnt close fully so when you have the light on at night people can see through the net curtain as the curtain on top does not fully close. (I just used a hair clip to clip them together - again really didnt bother us as it was only a slight gap and was easily solved). Also I was under the impression that our room included a bathtub and seperate shower, however we only had a shower. Again not much of an issue as it was a large monsoon headed shower , however some people may prefer baths.

Review 27:Great Location,5 min walk to old town square, 10 min walk down to the river and around 15 mins max to Charles Bridge. 2 min walk to metro station and close to tram stations if needed. Clean rooms with nice amenities such as robes, slippers, toothbrushes ect. Powerful shower and good enough hairdryer. Nice morning breakfast with wide selection (egg, bacon, sausages, cold meats and cheeses, croissants, fruit salad, jams and the basics such as toast and cereal). comfy large beds for a good nights rest and hot/cold air con. staff polite and welcoming . Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and will def. be staying there if we wish to visit Prague again.

Review 28:Great choice at breakfast. It was possible to leave our luggage with the hotel once we had checked out which was great since we had a late flight home. Hotel provided essentials free of charge like shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, disposable razor and shaving cream.

Review 29:The only problem we had was with one of the people working at the reception. It was a bit hard to communicate with her in English! But other than that everything was perfect!

Review 30:The location is perfect! The hotel is very close to the city center (5 minutes walking distance). I really liked the room! It was very very clean (pleasant surprise) and very comfortable!

Review 31:bed not long enough for tall people

Review 32:Helpful staff, abundant breakfast, speed wi-fi, excellent location walking distance from all attractions but quiet in the evening

Review 33:Most comfortable stay ever. Location, hospitality, staff, food, room and room temperature and all amenities available. Perfect hotel and perfect stay. Would go back

Review 34:Room 501 was up in the very top of the hotel with velux windows and sky light making it really light and airy. Room was well equipped and large with a modern delux bathroom with the biggest bath I've ever seen!

Review 35:Perfectly situated to wander around city. Close to Wenceslass square and Old town square. The hotel was excellent, staff friendly and helpful, room was large and clean.

Review 36:Nothing. I would return at the drop of my hat.

Review 37:Location, location, location. Brilliant hotel. We had a superior room, it was very comfortable and very quiet.

Review 38:The staff were nice to us, welcoming and smiling every time we passed by. The "breakfast staff" were really nice :) Our room was not the biggest, but it was clean and well decorated. The bathroom is really nice, with a large shower and hot water all day long. Located in the heart of the city- providing instant access to trams, bus, metro. Walking for a couple of minutes- will bring you to the "new town square", and about 7 minutes from "old town square". GREAT. :)

Review 39:The lift had stopped working which may have presented a problem had we been on a higher floor or disabled in some way but the hotel were prompt in addressing the issue. Some instructions for the air conditioning/ heating would be useful.

Review 40:Excellent location. Fantastic service. Good variety for breakfast. In room safe. Comfortable beds. Sound profing was amazingly good!

Review 41:Breakfast advertised until 11, but by 10.30 most food was gone (on other days we went earlier and the breakfast was fine.) Tea/coffee in room not replaced daily.

Review 42:Nice sized room (Superior double on 5th floor) and very nice shower. Toiletries replaced daily. Room was very quiet. Location was good, less than 10 minutes walk to Wenceslas Sq or Old Town Sq, opposite large department store with supermarket.

Review 43:Very disappointed in this hotel who is nothing like a 4 stars hotel. We got a room on the 5th floor and the window was broken (couldn't be closed) and the temperature was set to 24 degrees and only hot hair was coming through, it was awfully hot and couldn't be regulated. I asked for a different room when I understood they would not fix anything and that room was better but didn't look clean: found a hair in my bed, some stains on the towels and dust/bits of food next to to the bed!!! I asked to have it cleaned and it seems they finally did it. But this was a bad experience for me as I felt highly uncomfortable with the general state of the room: hard to sleep when you have the impression it was not cleaned. Also, even though bits look beautiful (bathroom etc), even the second room was partly damaged: the sink got blocked on the second day and the desk was damaged (holes). For such a price, the quality was very low. Also, the girl at the front desk said I had taken some chips from the mini bar when i had not taken anything. Hotel to avoid unless you don't care about the comfort.

Review 44:Nice location, city center within walking distance and subways nearby. It was quiet during the night and most of the staff members were very nice (only one was unfriendly when whe checked out)

Review 45:Double bed with two single mattresses; no soundproofing (one hears everything from a hall, which is especially the case when the room is next to an elevator, but not from street); breakfast lacks in vegetables (only cucumbers and tomatoes); only one bedside lamp; missing details in accessories (one toothbrush in a double room; no shoehorn).

Review 46:Interesting styling; large windows and the city view on the square with a Kafka's head monument (room type: superior double); fresh bread at breakfast; central location with access to shopping centre and public transport.

Review 47:We stayed in the Deluxe King room and it was fantastic! The bathroom was spacious and had a wonderful BIG bathtub (super wide), and all the rooms had high ceilings. It was nicely decorated and lots of space. My only suggestion to the hotel is: get new towels--ours were a bit old and scratchy. Breakfast was included and very nice (typical European buffet). Location is excellent.

Review 48:Their checkin time was 14h00. I reached there around 15h00 but cleaning lady was still cleaning room allocated for me. I went to the receptionist but she replied me it depends on availability sir. It was vey bad experience for me in such a nice hotel. Rest was fine.

Review 49:Location is nice and in the heart of the city.

Review 50:The staff was fantastic and always gave me great advice and recommendations when I asked them about travel around town and restaurants. Pretty much everything was in walking distance and the subway station was almost literally under the building for things that were further out.

Review 51:Nice sober and good design hotel, very quiet even if your room is on the street side; Luminous and spacious room. Perfect location in the city center. And a very good breakfast.

Review 52:I would have preferred bedside tables with a drawer and a shelf, but these were designed for a modern look, not for utility. The air-conditioning was supposed to be controllable by us, but only to a point. We never got it to go below 21 deg. C, no matter how low we set it.

Review 53:Our room was fairly big by European standards, with comfortable beds and a bathroom with a large shower with a rain shower head and a separate spray head. Breakfast was terrific, with an excellent variety and just the best croissants! One morning, they ran out of them for a short time, and when they were replenished, they were hot out of the oven. Delicious! The hotel is located across the street from a shopping mall and a great Italian restaurant, where we ate most of the time. Many of the main attractions are within easy walking distance.

Review 54:Lovely, fairly small hotel, immaculate and well-appointed in an excellent situation. A newly-built metro station was just across the road within a new shopping centre and everything was within walking distance.

Review 55:The room was pretty clean but not perfectly

Review 56:The position was great, 10 minutes from most of the places but steal in a side street so it was a very quiet place. Our room was occupied so we got a much better room for the same price. We arrived a little bit early and left our luggage at the reception, when we came back the luggage was already in the room. The staff was great and helped with every thing.

Review 57:noone living room in the hall like bar or cafeteria or something like this, breakfast room in basement without windows, bathtub broken, no welcome gift (I mean for the price of superior room), and the views only to the street, not to the city, not spectacular (they dont have views to the city),

Review 58:Room design, spacious room, hotel location, offer breakfast

Review 59:No bar in hotel but plenty on doorstep

Review 60:Clean and luxurious room's in a great location only a fifhteen minute walk from all the main attractions, great breakfast and friendly helpful staff.

Review 61:Nothing

Review 62:Very good location just off wenceslas square and easy access to all attractions in prague.staff in hotel very friendly and helpful.great selection of both hot and cold beakfasts and spacious and clean rooms

Review 63:Perfect lcentral location on a quiet square with all transportation close by. The finishes in the hotel are that of a 5 star ... It was truly a home away from home!

Review 64:They didn't clean completely our room. They just do the bed but they didn't change the cup of tea already used and the bathroom was not totally clean. The staff is unfair. We arrived at 1:50 pm at the hotel for the check in but they told us that we have to wait at 2pm. Finally we wait until 2:15pm. For the check out, the staff call to our room at 11:58 am to be sure that we would check out at 12 pm... They can't wait 1min more for the check out but they ask us to wait for the check in...

Review 65:The hotel is in the heart of the city and just front of a department store. The street is calm. The hotel is clean and agreeable.

Review 66:Breakfast. Arrived 40 minutes before they stop serving breakfast to find that all cooked food is already gone! The laundry collected from the all rooms on the floor stayed outside or door until the next cleaning session.

Review 67:Location. Nice big room. Massive shower. Good toilet paper.

Review 68:I found the tea in the breakfast room had a strange taste (traces of soap or cleaner?), so I would suggest sticking to coffee. Apart from that the breakfast was overall excellent.

Review 69:The location of the hotel and the view were from my room was perfect. The room was extremely comfortable with modern furniture and a clean, bright appearance.

Review 70:Breakfast was disappointing considering that this hotel is relatively expensive compared with similar hotels where I have stayed previously in Prague. Breakfast room was very noisy due to their coffee grinding machine

Review 71:Very good wifi, clean comfortable room

Review 72:The airconditioning struggled a little with the hot weather, however the rooms were still comfortable.

Review 73:Beautiful spacious and modern rooms and facilities in brilliant location.

Review 74:Well i had the same problem the one of the reviewers had,i even put a late check out option in my booking. The nightmare stared just before the scheduled check out time. From 12pm to 1pm the reception called me 5 times to remind me that i have to leave and the girl who cleans the room entered with out even knocking. It seems that they book the hotel back to back and they don't leave any place for the customer to extend his stay. I felt that they are so commercial.

Review 75:The location is good

Review 76:One thing: at the booking confirmation there was note that payment willbe in hotel (my wish was my bussines visa), but I had to give privateDiners card for reservation which was charged !!!

Review 77:Great architecture of hotel. The room is large, great still, modern.

Review 78:The reception staff was very kind and helpful. The breakfast is good but everyday its the same. Great location - near city center but very quiet and safe.

Review 79:Staff weren't as friendly as usual 4 stars but they were helpful enough if you wanted something. They seem to save on providing toiletries. We ran out of toilet rolls both nights. We figured working class in Prague isn't that well paid anyway since it's a poor enough country so catering staffs around the city appears to be all quite careless and unfriendly. It could be a case they are all jus so sick of tourist so they don't care. They all appear to be very young too... Mid 20s so can't really see them lasting long in one job.

Review 80:Great location right across a shopping mall (but this mall sells really old fashioned things) however it is easy to find and has the tram n metro in this, it's 10 mins walking distance to old town historical sites so we didn't even need to use any of the transports anyway. Hotel is clean as it seems to have been newly furnished so thumbs up on that one.

Review 81:Nothing really. I didn't want a Premier Inn type hotel. This was a bit more personal.

Review 82:The hotel was central in the city. Everything you needed was a short walk away. Really nice staff. Rooms were comfortable and the beds perfect. Bathroom was lovely, great shower.

Review 83:Some details missing such as a foldable support for the suitcase and another lamp to better shave in the bathroom. Breakfast is in the basement so no natural light

Review 84:Very nicely refurbished, nice warm materials and style

Review 85:- the room was quite small and without sufficient space for storage and even for the suitcases - wifi did not work properly in the rooms

Review 86:- The location is very good, a few minutes walk from the Venceslas square and from the old city, without the crowds - the staff is friendly and efficient

Review 87:It's a very nice bed and breakfast. There are no extra facilities at all.

Review 88:The room was large, with high ceilings, and a very nice bathroom. It was quiet and very well located. The staff were professional, and answered any questions fully.

Review 89:Such beautiful building. Would love to have had some history of the structure. Also, hated to have to eat breakfast in the basement.

Review 90:We were there during the midsummer heatwave of 2015. 90-96 F each day we were there. The AC was so welcomed as we returned each day from the city walkabouts. Love the decor..simple and elegant.

Review 91:Cause it's a new hotel is has some problems. No place to hang up your towels, big problem is the airco, that didn't work well and during our stay it was very hot outside.

Review 92:It's a new hotel. So everything is new, has a quality feel.

Review 93:I had to leave before breakfast was served. An earlier breakfast starting time would he handy. I had an interesting experience in the room too... a little spooky but would not stop me from coming back.

Review 94:Everything! Staff member I dealt with gave excellent service with a smile. Top class establishment.

Review 95:Classical building but nice redecorated interior side. Wide rooms with very high ceiling. Very close to Metro & Tram stations and historical & Touristic places.

Review 96:Hotel's main entrance door had no sign, walked right past the first time. A/C in room didn't work properly (no cooling). Room's floor was not vacuumed during my stay. wi-fi a bit sketchy at times.

Review 97:Location - Awesome Staff - the asian guy (didn't get his name) manning the front desk was very courteous and super helpful - thank you! Bathroom - luxury "tropic rainstorm" showerhead + separate hand shower - very nice Breakfast - fresh fruit and variety of juice combos available for those who don't like bacon-eggs-coffee type of breakfast

Review 98:Could have a more visible identification to make it easier to find

Review 99:Hotel gave us a room according to all special requests Good localization New and good structure, a good surprise

Review 100:Breakfast.. Maybe could have been better but saying that it was still pretty high standard..

Review 101:Awesome location between the old town square and Charles Bridge.. Everything is walking distance from here or if you like the metro line is on the other side of the mini mall that faces the hotel

Review 102:Breakfast was fine and obviously catered for European cuisine - could have done with more fresh fruit some mornings (a very picky 'minus' to an otherwise lovely hotel)

Review 103:Staff were great. Rooms lovely - very modern and clean. Bathroom was fab. Whole hotel looked very recently decorated to a good standard

Review 104:Floor of the bathroom needs a better scrub at a few spots. Breakfast could be better, a little bit simple, but perhaps we are spoiled by other hotels.

Review 105:The modern room, with the excellent bathroom, with very good shower. Nice hotel in a quit surrounding, but still close to centre.

Review 106:The elevator broke down while we were there, probably an occasional mishap. Our room was very small, hard to move around the bed. The payment was done in Czech crowns and the price was not the same as in our booking.com booking in which it was in euros, so it took a while to sort this out.

Review 107:Clean rooms, though ours was too small. The location was excellent, close to the historical centre, but not at all noisy. Fantastic breakfast with great variety of options. Good wifi in the room, we could work well.

Review 108:There is no place in the hotel where you can sit and have a drink. I couldn't sleep because of the airco system that could not be shut completely.

Review 109:The hotel is good situated to visit the city. Very clean.

Review 110:WiFi was very slow. The TV didn't have almost any channels in english and there was nothing to see

Review 111:The location is really good. The area is quiet but in the center. The hotel is very nice and the breakfast is good

Review 112:Nothing.

Review 113:I stayed there for 5 nights and it was really comfortable and cozy hotel. The area is very quiet at night and the staff were absolutley helpful. Thanks Nam :)

Review 114:nothing. it was a great choise.

Review 115:everything. it was close, cosy, the staff was great, and it's a small and intimet well decorated hotel. 3 minute walk from the main square, in front of a Cafe and a shopping mall, and there are about 5 pubs within a minute walk.

Review 116:Some of the staff were very friendly, and others were not at all. All spoke English well. The biggest problem I had was the size of my room, for the price it was tiny. For me it seemed like a very nice three star hotel, but not really up to four star standards. This hotel was very nice, but there are many other hotels in Prague that might offer better value for your money.

Review 117:The location was very central, but then again Prague is loaded with hotels in this area, while the location is great, there are many hotels with locations just as good (with better value for the money). The WIfi worked well for the most part, there were a few times when the Wifi would go dead, but in those times it seemed to clear up within an hour or so. The breakfast was very good.

Review 118:Excellent location. Wonderful staff, friendly and helpful. Spacious room with the added bonus of a complementary coffee/tea self service provided.

Review 119:Very little. A bar / gym facilities would have been nice but I guess this would be pushing it for the price. I would definitely stay there again if I visited this wonderful city. My girlfriend loved it. One very little niggle was the duvet- they didn't seem to have double duvets only could provide two single duvets which we felt was a bit weird and no where near as comfortable if there are two of you in the bed.

Review 120:Metallic head of Kampfe outside is a great new attraction to the area. It's in a lovely square of restaurants like Polpo etc. which sit just infront of the hotel. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean, good size. View we had was not great. I'm sure the rooms overlooking the square have superb views. Wifi did occasionally drop out. TV had standard Czech channels, American movies in Czech and new channels like the BBC were the only things in English. The location is perfect and everything you could possibly want to do including a trip down to the local Michelin star restaurant the Alcron is only a six minute walk away. Old square is nine mins walk away.

Review 121:Breakfast only average. No fresh fruit available.

Review 122:Lovely room. Staff very friendly and helpful.Good value for money. Hotel located within easy walking distance of all major sites.

Review 123:Gluten free snacks not provided although I had asked for a gluten free diet when I booked. My room could have been improved if there had been a chair to sit on instead of the bed.

Review 124:The room was clean and well equipped with toiletries, bathrobes and slippers.

Review 125:It would have been nice if there was a bar in the hotel. The mini bar in the room did not stock spirits.

Review 126:Staff very helpful and friendly. Although furnishing was minimalist it was top quality especially the bathroom. Bed was huge and exceptionally comfortable. Wonderful breakfast with a very wide choice. Location was great, only a 10 minute walk to the Old Town Square. Very convenient to very cheap and efficient public transport to/from airport.

Review 127:Had to pay extra (3%) on top of the booking-price (charge by the banks, was given as a reason).

Review 128:Very good location close to metro, tramway and shopping-centre, wifi in the room, the shower and the bed.

Review 129:Some dirt on the side of the big table from the room; inexcusable at this kind of hotel & price range.

Review 130:Excellent location: away from noisy streets, still very close to the city center. Comfortable, kind staff, good breakfast.

Review 131:The hotel were really accommodating for this stay which I booked for my parents. Anastasia who works at the hotel went over and above to ensure this was a great stay. Would highly recommend.

Review 132:The breakfast could be improved and there is a bad smell of the drainage system.

Review 133:The decoration of the hotel and the staff (the gentleman at night shift) is very helpful. Location is convenient.

Review 134:Nothing bad but the light switches in the room were confusing. Only a problem when coming back after drinking too much Czech beer!

Review 135:Walking distance to all main attractions and metro. Breakfast was excellent, great to start the day with lots energy. Comfy bed and powerful rain shower. Quiet and peaceful at all times. We also left our bags there for the day as we had a late flight.
