Reviews for Tupa Hotel

Review 1:The screens in the windows don't fit properly, so you may encounter some mosquitos in your room late at night.

Review 2:The staff is great- they really go out of their way to be helpful.

Review 3:WIFI is terrible. I know that every hotel on Easter Island is bad (I think every hotel on the island only provides wifi in the hall so let's assume no wifi in room here), but this one keeps broken (connect for 1 minute, then cannot connect for 5 minutes)

Review 4:People there is very nice and helpful. Good location.

Review 5:There were a few minor issues including that the hotel couldn't read my credit card (I had no problem with it elsewhere on Easter Island) so I had to pay in cash. Showers were cold in the early mornings. Wifi only worked in the lounge area not the rooms.

Review 6:This hotel is well situated with views out over the bay at Hanga Roa. Only a few minutes walk from the main streets. Staff were very helpful and spoke good English. The rooms were very spacious. Transport to and from the airport was provided by the Hotel. Free wifi. Breakfast was provided from 0800 hours.

Review 7:The wifi connection is very poor but I think this is a common problem for all the island.

Review 8:Hotel has a good view on the ocean and it is located in a good position with respect to the town center.

Review 9:The overall look of the hotel. Need some painting and renovation.

Review 10:The staff was amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Location is good and near the main streets.

Review 11:Wifi is only available in the hall close to reception desk. But it worked fine in this remote island, although it was slow.

Review 12:Airport pickup and send for departure. Rented car was ready in the hotel. Staff was very nice and speaked excellent English. Room is large and clean. GPS pointed exactly where it was.

Review 13:The facilities, though clean and functional, seem a bit old and not really updated.

Review 14:The staff was very friendly, and the view of the ocean was amazing.

Review 15:Reception staff were very friendly and helpful especially when I was having trouble getting the correct dialing code to phone home. Also very good at arranging tours.

Review 16:There was nothing that I didn't like about this hotel. It was a perfect hotel on a wonderful island.

Review 17:It was my dream to go to Easter Island and my stay at the Tupa Hotel made it perfect. I stayed 5 nights from 19 – 23 September. I hope one day (soon) I can go back to the Island and I would not think of staying anywhere else but the Tupa hotel. I loved my stay here. My room (sea view) was lovely, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The best thing about the hotel is the wonderful staff. Esteban and all the staff there provide the best possible care and service and speak English. You really feel like a truly welcome guest! The location of the hotel in Hanga Roa is ideal, just 5 minutes’ walk to the main street and 5 minutes’ walk down to Fisherman’s Wharf. Only 15-20 mins walk to the Ahu Tahai, where you can watch the sun set behind the heads – wonderful, and also the very interesting museum. I don’t normally write hotel reviews but felt compelled to write this one. Muchas gracias everyone at Tupa for making my wonderful stay on Easter Island perfect. I hope to be back.

Review 18:The WIFI was painful; it was so slow when it did work.

Review 19:The staff were the best hotel staff I have ever had, nothing was too much trouble and one of them was going to spend her time off with me to show me a cave but I found it in the end. Full marks to the staff. The cleaning staff were very happy and every day I found the room clean. One day they even left the fan and humidifier on for me to walk into a comfortable room. I could not fault them.

Review 20:The breakfast buffet could have been a bit better but at least it did have some variety in the options of food.

Review 21:Great location with amazing views of the ocean and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

Review 22:We would have liked an hour extension for checkout but it would have cost us another 30% of one night's stay. So we checked out early and stored our bags in the office. The decor is a little "tired" but the kindness of the staff makes up for it.

Review 23:The staff was very nice and helpful (they can even help with rental vehicles). The breakfast had a variety of meats, cheeses, oatmeal, fruit and breads. They had really fast internet in the lobby area (which can be hard to find on the island). The free shuttle service from/to the airport is an added bonus. The views of the water are beautiful.

Review 24:First night I opened the door and first view was a cockroach, but the room was clean. No phone on rooms. Breakfast good. But we had scrumble eggs in first two days, then no more.

Review 25:Staff very friendly. Helpfull. Location. For $70 night was OK. II could go back there.

Review 26:Friendly, helpful, knowledgable staff in a clean, comfortable environment close enough to the town centre to be convenient and far enough away to be quiet. Beautiful view of sunset on the sea.

Review 27:I had to leave....

Review 28:The view was stunning, over looking the sea and over the land. Very quite and comfortable and less then five minute walk from the high street. Absolutely amazing staff, so friendly and helpful. But be aware of the chickens wondering around the garden ;) My favourite place to stay! Would go back there in a heartbeat!

Review 29:The hotel is rustic but a few things just needs a little attention.. Could replace the carpet in the hallway, recover and replace the foam in the cushions in the common room.

Review 30:First hotel ever that had comfortable pillows! Great sleep every night..friendly, knowledgable staff, ocean view when eating breakfast, everything within walking distance yet quiet area. A clean place to stay with loads of hot water in the shower.

Review 31:None

Review 32:What I like about this property is the excellent rapport I had with the reception staff. The location is just perfect and within a walking distance to almost everything. Relaxing Rapa Nui music is played softly while you are having your breakfast which makes it unique and authentic island getaway far away from all the stresses. I'd like the free transport to and from the airport, although I didn't know that I meant to be picked from the airport on arrival. Probably my fault for not reading my e-mail.

Review 33:The hotel could really do with a refresh. Room decor is dated and worn in places. Ceiling fan didn't work and bug screen on the patio doors was a poor futs. There was a large fan standing in the room which helped with the lack of air con. Wifi was poor and only available in some public areas. We were told that wifi generally on the island is very slow but we found much better connections at other hotels/restaurants. This is a very low service hotel. Beyond a mediocre breakfast there are no options for f&b except a fridge behind reception.

Review 34:The location was good and Esteban on reception was great. Seemed like he could fix anything and always had a cheery word. Beds were comfortable and clean, and towels folded into different shapes each day (swans, flowers) was a nice touch.

Review 35:The hotel is very dated. I had a single room with no view and a bathroom with the shower over the bath and a grotty old shower curtain. The garden, which could have been a pleasant place to sit, was overgrown and unattractive.

Review 36:This hotel is in a nice position, although its potentially fantastic view is somewhat obscured. The best feature of the hotel is the staff, particularly Esteban on reception who was unfailingly cheerful and helpful about both the hotel and the island. Wi-fi is good, not always the case I heard on Easter Island, but only available in public areas.

Review 37:The initial impression upon arrival were shockingly deceptive from its claims. Ocean view is non existing outside dinining room and lounge seats were unconfortable. Bath room tub was dangerous without grab support. No written instructions anywhere. Not deserving of 3 star rating.

Review 38:The personnel and the dining facilities were excellent

Review 39:The cleaness of the rooms may be a little bit better, and some rooms might need a refresh, but what it seems, this is a standard on the island. The wifi works only in common area (which might be improved) and is very weak (but this is also standard in the island, so no hotel fault). General issue (not specially for the hotel) was, that even though there was a strike of local Rapa Nui people that blocked all the roads outside the city (could not visit many monuments sites!), all rental agencies were renting bikes and cars (even though there was no use of them!). I booked the car via the hotel in the evening the blockades started, so they might have been (or at least should be) aware of the situation but did not inform me before.

Review 40:- helpfull staff with nice welcome on the airport - we had an issue with hot water in our room, but when informed the staff they upgraded us to the room with ocean view

Review 41:See above.

Review 42:It's not the Hanga Roa Village & Spa. And then again, it doesn't cost $800/night. This was a very basic place to stay. No amenities but the price was right. The staff was helpful and friendly, especially Esteban.

Review 43:It was very hot in feb. And the room was extremely hot. The fans helped, but whe. The room was closed during the day, it never really cooled off. But even with at , we would do it again! Food and everything is quite high due to the remoteness of the island. We managed to find some moderate dining, but most meals were$70.US. That's with just entrees and no alcohol. Took some of our own snacks. Came in handy whe touring in our rental car, a necessity! So much to see,we had 6 nts. And it worked out well. We saw just a bout all there was access to. Great trip, once in a lifetime experience!!

Review 44:Great staff. Willing to help anyway possible. Owner is archaeologist that is from the island and has worked on the maoi reconstruction. He is very nice and will spend time explaining the carvings and history. Definitely a high point of the stay!!

Review 45:Quite expensive, though this is the norm on the island. Room needs updating, rooms facing sea are better but cost more.

Review 46:Large room, clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.

Review 47:The room was a little warm

Review 48:The buffet breakfast was very nice. The desk staff was friendly and helpful. We later learned that the owner is a well known archeologist, who restored the statues at Anakena. I wish I had known that while we were there and had met him.

Review 49:bit far from main street, 10-15 minutes walk uphill to the hotel or use the road which was under construction (Feb 2015) poor WiFi and cellphone coverage, but it is not hotel fault. Please be prepared you are in the middle of somewhere.

Review 50:Nice hotel, clean rooms, good breakfast. Maria Jose is very helpful and supportive, but not all other staff.

Review 51:The staff is not kind to guests who don't book tours, but instead choose to rent a car and explore by themselves. Bring a gift to the receptionists if you want better treatment, an actual smile or more prompt service.

Review 52:Excellent location. My room had a great view (to the ocean). Amazing breakfast. Beds are comfortable.

Review 53:Free transfer, warm welcome by staff and information about the island given. Friendly helpful staff at all times, room was spacious and clean. Big comfortable bed. They can arrange tours and hire cars more cheaply than other places in town.

Review 54:Nothing

Review 55:The staff were absolutely FANTASTIC! They were more than happy to help anytime of day or night and were extremely friendly. I was collected promptly from the airport for free. I always found the room clean and there was always hot water with good water pressure. Breakfast was regularly changed so there was always something new to try! I would definitely stay here again!!

Review 56:Nothing !

Review 57:Absolutely everything ! Location is near the main street ; Free upgrateto a room with ocean view ;breakfast; exemplary cleanliness;the factthat for my birthday ..I am awarded a cake ... and my room wasbeautifully decorated with ribbons and colorful balloons; Hernandez andall the staff ! But the nr.1 Is Maria ....! Thank you very much our dearMaria...and hope to see you again ...sometime...in this life or maybe inthe next one !

Review 58:super slow Internet, boring breakfast

Review 59:Without Esteban at the front desk this would just be an average hotel but he goes the extra mile and is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Rapa Nui. He will take care of everything you need. Organize tours or arrange for a friend to drive you to the airport when you missed the hotel shuttle bus. Awesome guy

Review 60:The hotel was tucked in a quiet area, very close walk to the city center. Estefano at the front desk was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Also, the owner of the hotel was very hospitable. Scenic views all around, very relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend if you're making a trip down to the island.

Review 61:The weather - nothing to do with the hotel, but it rained a lot :) Internet connection intermittent and only available at the lobby - but it is an island in the middle of nowhere, so even having that was cool.

Review 62:Excellent location Availability of car rental at the hotel Very nice and clean room Extremely friendly staff, very courteous All you can eat, diverse breakfast - those pastries are addictive

Review 63:Wifi soooo slow, but... Who cares?!?!?! Everything was perfect!!!!

Review 64:For those who want to travel to a nice place in Hanga Roa, I totally recommend the hotel. The reception at the airport was kind, and then at the hotel was quite well. Esteban, Maria Jose and the rest of the staff were very helpful and willing to solve any problem I could have then. They prepared all my activities while I was there, and those ones were amazing. The room was comfortable, without TV!!!! It is the perfect place to disconnect yourself from the world. Breakfasts were delicious. And the hotel is located in a great place into Hanga Roa. I enjoyed my time there, and I am pretty sure I will book on Tupa Hotel next time I travel to Hanga Roa!!!!!

Review 65:Smell probably originating from the piping in the toilet/bathroom, though the persons cleaning the room always tended to this problem by spraying deodorant.

Review 66:Staff was helpful, always around when needed and very friendly. Nice view on to the garden and bay below. Perfectly cleansed and prepared room every morning.

Review 67:Amazing staff. Very helpful. Great location 5 min walk from everything in town

Review 68:The place was a little worn and needed updating.

Review 69:Location was close and within walking distance to town and the room was spacious.

Review 70:Comfortable bed but the room was very basic.

Review 71:A short stroll to town

Review 72:The staff was helpful and very friendly. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast was excellent!

Review 73:Hated the internet, and the difficult sliding doors.

Review 74:Loved the helpful friendly staff especially Esteban.

Review 75:Close to the airport and the central square.

Review 76:The hotel is in a great location, clean and the reception team is super nice and helpful

Review 77:The food didn't have variety.

Review 78:The staff is very friendly and extremely accommodating.

Review 79:Very close to everything Nice staff Ample breakfast

Review 80:Internet in the lobby extremely week

Review 81:A little dated, but perfectly comfortable.

Review 82:Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 83:My room had a weird moldy smell

Review 84:Staff really helpful, good location

Review 85:Carpet worn out in halls, bathrooms no fan.

Review 86:Neither wifi nor breakfast choice is impressive, but we are talking very remote island here.

Review 87:Location, comfort, staff, price.

Review 88:Facility needs some upgrading.

Review 89:Staff was very helpful. Outstanding breakfast. Excellent location.

Review 90:Young Rapa Nui guy on Reception was very helpful

Review 91:price in euros much more than psesos

Review 92:Breakfast and ocean views. Helpful staff.

Review 93:A guest shall avoid trying to get a WiFi connection.

Review 94:Pricing is reasonable, staff is kind, room is correct, breakfast sufficient, a place to recomand.

Review 95:Works worn Internet extreamly slow

Review 96:Very frindly and helpfull staf Nice with a terrace Quiet area not far from town mitte

Review 97:It needs an update.

Review 98:Maria, was exceptional with bookings and travel advice on the island.

Review 99:A bit impersonal

Review 100:View from the terrace.Good breakfast.

Review 101:Location Staff Pick up Breakfast

Review 102:Showers were not always hot.

Review 103:Rich breakfast, very nice and helpful staff, clean, well located, quiet hotel.

Review 104:The wifi signal, which is only in the lobby and common sitting area, was unreliable.

Review 105:Fairly easy to locate. Public areas kept clean and tidy. Lots of windows with views to the gardens and water. Staff at reception were knowledgeable, always helpful and friendly. Breakfast provided a reasonable variety of breads, sliced ham and cheese, pastries, cereal, and coffee/tea/milk/juice. Could use fresh fruit like bananas. Complimentary pick up and drop off at the airport. Room was clean, great size for the room and bathroom. Could use a TV/radio/clock.

Review 106:lovely hotel in a good location.the staff were very friendly and helpful, answering any questions and providing information.the rooms were nice and clean,we were lucky to have a sea view.breakfast was good, dining room also with sea view.good value.

Review 107:Excellent staff - both Maria jose and Maria were incredible. Decent breakfast, which is great as it allows you to get on with your day quicker and food is so expensive on Rapa Nui

Review 108:The room was a budget room, sonanbit dingy but overall In was happy with it.

Review 109:Very helpful staff who booked my excusions plus the hotel had its own car to rent which made life very uncomplicated.

Review 110:Great hostrel, very helpful stuff, great sea view from the dining room and some of the rooms, very comfortable and quite rooms and delicious breakfast made teh stay on the island unforgetable

Review 111:10 minutes walk from town center where all activities happen.

Review 112:rooms are clean, staff are helpful, speaks good English. Wifi is good at lobby, but not in room.

Review 113:loved the location, the ocean view, and the friendly, helpful staff. Great conversations with Sergio, the owner. There are cheaper and much more expensive accommodations on the Island, but we would go back to this one, without a doubt.

Review 114:My stay in Tupa hotel was three days. The last two days I had to shower in cold water because the water system was somehow damaged. Although the staff tried to fix it the last night but I still ended up having cold shower half way through. It is very far from the central town, and the ocean view was not as good as described on the website. The internet was also very bad, you had to go to the hotel reception for internet access and the speed was one of the slowest I ever used in the last 5 years. Overall it was just not good.

Review 115:Staff were friendly

Review 116:The staff was so welcoming and helpful. We were booked into a room with twin beds, but when wew staed we had asked for a king bed, we were immediately changed to a room with a king bed and great ocean view. The complimentary ride to and from the airport was great and we were given a fresh flower lei on arrival. Information on tours was great, and we were helped to get a rental car as soon as we asked. The location of the hotel was perfect ... Close enough to walk to where we wanted to go, but off the Main Street. We loved the view from the breakfast room. The rooms were very clean, great daily room service, lots of hot water, and good water pressure for the shower. Great place to stay!

Review 117:Lowest value. Moisture smell in rooms. Bathroom did'nt look clean ans were out of age. An overall impression of no maintenance. Equipment cery basic. Keep away!

Review 118:Located at walking distance of the centre. Breakfast correct.

Review 119:The structure should be improved, but as long as tis clean and the staff is friendly its a good option! I definitly would go back to TUPA Hotel

Review 120:Staf really nice, they will guide yuo to the nicest place of the island! :) The position is good, you have a nice view, you are close to the main road, to all the shops, and to the caletas! It's also nice to walk to Orango Vulcano. Rooms are ok and clean.

Review 121:Facilities are super basic, no TV, no waterboiler, nothing. Internet is slow and unstable. Water takes long time to get warm. Not cheap.

Review 122:Location is good Breakfast is ok Room is quite big

Review 123:They could have coffe and tea available for free, like other hotels in other parts of the world.

Review 124:Good accomodations, easy access to services like tours and renting cars...

Review 125:The location and price were great and Maria and Jose at the front desk could not have been any more professional, friendly, and extremely helpful. I definitely plan on coming back!

Review 126:Breakfast was unimaginative but then you don't go to Easter Island for the breakfasts. Late night singing till four on one evening

Review 127:Pick up (and drop off) at the airport. Friendly and helpful staff. Ocean view

Review 128:Staff was not available at times.

Review 129:Location was great! Easy access to the coastline and the main road. Lots of restaurants to chose from but a bit expensive which is given since it is Easter Island.

Review 130:Stayed at one of the "budget" rooms for one night and it was terrible! Noisy, damp and cramped.

Review 131:Great, helpful staff. Got an upgrade to a sea view room due to it being low season and that was a great, cleand and well-lit room, but...
