Reviews for Hotel Rheingold
Review 1:No bad experiences!
Review 2:The hotel restaurant and bar were excellent, especially their choice of German white wines. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The buses the hotel laid on to take guests to and from the opera each evening were excellent and made the whole experience relaxed and pleasurable. I would certainly book there again.
Review 3:No safe in the bedroom.
Review 4:The hospitality & welcome. Upon checking, no CC authorization was required. That's amazing! And everyday before taking the shuttle for the Opera (during the Wagner festival), A glass of prosecco was offered in the lobby. That's very generous. Restaurant had excellent food. Breakfast quite plentiful & service excellent. Rooms very clean & new. Wifi excellent.
Review 5:The shower curtain. It was clean but seemed a little old fashioned... The bathroom was otherwise spacious an well equipped, including a hairdryer. The overall look of the room did not quite live up to the front door/main lobby appearance.
Review 6:The staff were very helpful and there was even a cushion loan service and an ironing room to press tired suitcase-squashed evening wear. As we came for a Wagner opera the bus shuttle from the hotel and back for 5 euros pp was excellent. The in-house restaurant/ bar was still open after 10 pm which was very useful. The breakfast buffet offered an excellent choice. The location was good : quiet back street, a few minutes' walk away from the old town.
Review 7:The beds were hard and the duvets too thick for the summer heat.
Review 8:The hotel was quiet and comfortable and fairly near the centre of town. A shuttle was provided for the opera festival. Breakfast was very good. Dinner in the restaurant was pretty good too.
Review 9:We stayed for two nights to attend a performance at the Bayreuth Festival. The hotel was comfortable and friendly and very well organised for Festival guests without in any way making us feel part of a production line. The staff were very helpful. We would definitely come back.
Review 10:The staff in all areas was really friendly. Breakfast buffet was fantastic value at €12. Hotel was spotlessly clean and rooms perfectly comfortable for our night in Bayreuth. Easy access parking in the basement. Bus transfer to the opera house.
Review 11:menu seemed overpriced and lacked variety. room was pretty average and kind of boring compared to other places we stayed at in germany that were considered a lesser than luxury hotel.
Review 12:lobby was really pretty.
Review 13:No proper airconditioning (for that price/ night), most staff members give you the feeling to be tourist cattle (e.g. sometimes didn't even bother to look you in the eyes while talking) .
Review 14:Breakfast, Parking garage, Lunch
Review 15:Great staff, very helpful, though no full time concierge. Fine location in middle of Bayreuth. A great place to stay if you are lucky enough to have tickets to the Opera Festival.
Review 16:No air conditioning in room - asked for a fan but not forthcoming. The staff maintained that fans "werCheapskatee all sold out" - what in the whole of Germany and for some considerable time?
Review 17:Dreaded returning to room because of sweltering heat so it is difficult to pinpoint positives - but the transport to the Festival was good and the breakfast was fine.
Review 18:When I arrived late after a long hot journey, the desk did not know that my two rooms were pre-paid.
Review 19:Air conditioned room very comfortable. Cleaners very friendly and efficient. Most desk staff very good - particularly Patrick.
Review 20:I had a room oriented to main street. At 11:30 PM arrived buss full of noisy guests (probably from some trip). It took 30 minutes till big noise finished. At 6:15 AM I had a reveille due to garbage truck that was emptied the bins.
Review 21:very pleasant stuff perfect breakfast service
Review 22:Didn't sleep well as not proper air conditioning, couldn't get high wall fan below 15°. Not a good temperature for sleeping. When asked the nice chambermaid asked someone could it be fixed as it showed should go below 15° and she was told not possible. No drawers for personal items only shelves some high in a cupboard and no mini bar. Also, shower cap went in a hole before putting on and so did second one !!! Obviously hotel doesn't realise they are being sold substandard ones and not realising this are giving them to guests to use which is impossible. Because of these complaints I feel that the price charged was a bit more than it should have been
Review 23:Breakfast was excellent, very good choice and well presented.. Very comfortable lounge area.
Review 24:25 min. walking to the Festspielhaus, but they offer bus. Common German design: very simple and strait.
Review 25:Close to town center. Splendid breakfast, starting earlier than 7 AM. Comfortable, friendly environment. Quiet, noiseless at night.
Review 26:Can't think of anything!
Review 27:Very friendly, pleasant staff. We attended the Festspiel and there is absolutely no question of us choosing a different hotel on the next visit - This is the one..Really excellent value and service.
Review 28:The staff were really friendly. They let me check in earlier in order to get dressed in time for the opera. The following day I had to leave very early and they insisted on preparing a very generous breakfast box for me.
Review 29:The service (reception, restaurant breakfast, chambermaids) was particularly good. For 5 euro a coach takes you to the opera house, and they served a free glass of fizz beforehand. Staff seemed proud of their hotel, and always helpful.
Review 30:Staff was unfriendly and unhelpful, particularly after we said we wereleaving because the room was ridiculously hot and noisy - the personnext door kept me awake the two nights I was there. And although we lefton the third day before 11am, we were forced to pay a full days'cancellation cost.
Review 31:Breakfast selection only. Nothing else. Would not recommend it.
Review 32:the hotel laid on a coach to take us to the opera each night and also talks about what we were going to see. This was unexpected and an excellent service
Review 33:largely fine. Bathroom a bit simple and car park a bit tight for larger vehicles.
Review 34:easy check-in / check-out, nice and competent staff, convenient central location, calm, clean
Review 35:The room was a bit old in the tooth (bathroom tiling nineties style as well as old fashioned furnishings). At this price I think the underground parking should be complementary. Soundproofing of the room towards the street wasn't great either.
Review 36:Spacious room, well equipped with good wifi reception and comfortable double bed (German double beds are two separate beds put together all too often). Breakfast buffet hors categorie.
Review 37:The location is away from the hustle and bustle bit close enough to reach most sights on foot. The shuttle was great for weary limbs -but a good walk after the 6 hours at the concerts. Very attentitive and pleasant staff all round
Review 38:wifi kept requiring password - maybe it was my phone.
Review 39:Good Breakfast, location, very helpful staff. And I hadn't expected a coach to the festival - very pleasant surprise.
Review 40:Nothing really except that having been closed for a few years before being reopened there was a musty smell to the corridors and room. Not too off-putting but something that should have been rectified.
Review 41:I was there during Festival time and they organise very efficient transport to and from the opera house.
Review 42:Bit of a slog for traditionalists who want to walk up hill for their Wagner, but OK walking down.
Review 43:Just reopened after massive redo, all is modern and attractive. Great base for visiting Bayreuth and, with efficient shuttle service, fine for Festival as well. Great breakfast, broad multi lingual selection on TV.
Review 44:We found that the bedding caused us to perspire at night, even though the air conditioning in the room worked well. We think that the bedding might have been polyester, but that was our only concern.
Review 45:Hotel Rheingold knows how to treat its opera buff guests!!! All hotel personnel were always ready and willing to serve! The breakfast was OUTSTANDING and was topped off by Champagne or Mimosas! We were also served a drink prior to our boarding a bus, provided by the hotel, which took us to the Festspielhaus for the opera! Hotel Rheingold is located near the center of the Old Town and is walking distance from important Bayreuth sites! We highly recommend this hotel whether you are merely passing through Bayreuth or attending the Wagner operas. Bayreuth is a cultured city offering many music opportunities in addition to opera! A true Bavarian gem!
Review 46:Nothing
Review 47:Transfer to Festspiel house and glass of Sekt beforehand at a modest price. Restaurant open and welcoming after performance with nicely balanced menu. Strong and reliable wi-fi, excellent breakfast and very friendly young staff
Review 48:On the ring road, no spa, which had been in some advertising materials, rooms a bit basic and dated.
Review 49:Lovely warm welcome, very accommodating reception team, very knowledgeable, professional yet friendly.
Review 50:The friendliness of the staff made it a most enjoyable stay. Like other hotels, it catered for the Wagnerfest visitors - the availability of the coaches to the Festspielhaus was especially welcome.
Review 51:Good hotel for stay during opera festival. Transport to Festspielhaus provided plus pre-opera drink. Good dinner in restaurant afterwards. Breakfast excellent. Rooms comfortable. Staff all professional and polite. Location very close to old town centre but quiet. Would stay here again.

Review 93:EFFICIENT, FRIENDLY STAFF
Review 94:Very nice and clean hotel. Reception open 24/24, very usefull for working travellers. Rooms are confortable and clean.
Review 95:Charging €5 per person for an ordinary standing-room-only bus forthe 6 minute transfer to the Festspielhaus is ridiculous. The busshould be free.
Review 96:Service excellent
Review 97:not the world's best value
Review 98:Breakfast
Review 99:Restaurant: Choice of food was limited and expensive!
Review 100:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is good. Breakfast was really good!

Review 102:No air condition Pretty expensive for what one gets
Review 103:Location close to town center
Review 104:Very close to town centre Breakfast was good - nice selection Comfortable rooms
Review 105:The staff is very proactive. We meet the cleaning lady in front of the lift and she realized that we came with our son, so she came back to bring us an extra set of towel for our son without us asking for it. But the best thing if this hotel is the breakfast, many fresh fruits and vegetables, many selections if muesli and yoghurt, really nice.
Review 106:Room a bit small.
Review 107:Breakfast very good, nice selection. Staff very friendly.
Review 108:Rooms need to be updated Plastic curtain in the bath tub !!!!
