Reviews for Kalenshen
Review 1:Booking.com made a compulsory extra charge for breakfast which consisted of only stale bread, stale cakes and ham. Purchase your packed lunch elsewhere as the sandwich was soggy with rusty lettuce and the piece of fruit was a lemon!
Review 2:Warm comfy hotel with hot water and good heating.
Review 3:On arrival I asked the receptionist if I needed to sign a credit card receipt etc (as every other place we booked through booking.com used my card to pay for the accommodation) I was told nothing needed to be done except email them a copy of the voucher, which I did.Despite being upgraded to an apartment, it was so poorly fitted out Eg. No lighter for gas stove. Bare minimum of cutlery etc.. utilising the kitchen was almost impossible. Also, the heater was not working (it is only 3-13 degrees celsius) and it took another 1hr to get the manager to "relight" the pilot light. .. things were already feeling dubious. It was only when I went to shower that I noted the droplet stains thought the bedroom and bathroom that looked suspiciously like blood. In trying to wipe them off, they wouldn't budge. yuk. Despite the mixed reviews, we booked this place as it boasted "heated pool and sauna" and we thought that that made it worth the $90 plus per night due to the hiking we planned on doing. Unfortunately once again the Kalenshen disappointed. The steamy hot pool I was shown at around 1pm... was conveniently (for them) switched off and quite cold come 7.30 PM at the end of a long 26 km hike. This despite being advertised as being heated until 9pm. So we thought we'd try the sauna to sooth our aching muscles. Once again, not working... and upon inspection had not been for some time due to them cutting off wires/plug at the back of the sauna, to stop anyone from plugging it back in.To top it all off.... breakfast consisted on toast, orange tang, and an ass ointment of stale (rock hard) tasteless cakes. With all the competition in town, and at the price they are charging? Look elsewhere, unless you desire spending top dollar for dirty rooms, non functional facilities and one of the worst breakfasts we've had (including budget hostels) in our 5 weeks in Argentina.Lastly, to add insult to injury.
Review 4:On arrival due to being overbooked, we were upgraded to an apartment. Unfortunately, that was the only positive of the entire stay.
Review 5:At the time of our staying connecting to the internet through the WIFI was difficult , but maybe it was a problem in general?
Review 6:Location is good. Staff -very very nice and friendly! Talked good English. Nice small heated pool. Good restaurant in the hotel: We had a nice dinner with a show of a very good local singer. He was so nice that when we told him that we enjoyed his singing he prepared especcialy for us a disk with his songs and gave it to us on the day after!
Review 7:The hostel attracts inconsiderate and loud clientele, the music show every night is poor quality and makes it impossible to sleep, the breakfast is just okay, and the hostel has become worn down. We also stayed at El Puma, and that place was exemplary.
Review 8:It wasn't a horrible place. Gabriel, at the front desk, is nice and really cool.
Review 9:The hotel was ok but they tried the "walking" scam on us and tried to send us to a lesser hotel the Fitz Roy hotel which is owned by the same place. After complaining they finally gave us rooms but they don't give us the rooms we paid. They never cleaned our rooms and the staff were rude and nasty calling us PIGs the entire time not knowing we spoke Spanish. Avoid this hotel they are untrustworthy. Poor experience but the hiking in the town was nice. Don't stay here they are terrible hosts and never tried to help us. It was an upwards battle the entire time to try to get what we paid for. The had attitude and were extremely rude.
Review 10:There is little to like at this hotel.
Review 11:The WiFi connection is not very good. It goes in and out, and when I am connected, it's very slow. I also found that to be case anywhere in town, so maybe it's not unique to this hotel?
Review 12:The staff was very friendly, spoke great English, and was able to assist with anything I asked them. The accommodations are also very reasonable...They have the only indoor swimming pool in town! A great way to end the day after climbing and hiking.
Review 13:A bit far from the town sight, some of the cab drivers didn't even know where it was.
Review 14:Awesome staff who helped us out as much as they could. Very friendly! Also tried to call the cab company when we were on our way to the bus terminal and we forgot stuff at the hotel by accident!
Review 15:Good location and nice rooms - with GREAT staff. Area is expensive and this is a well priced hotel. Definitely recommend.
Review 16:I will trade ham and cheese for boiled egg for breakfast
Review 17:Full kitchen and utensils
Review 18:Like all of El Chalten internet service is poor.
Review 19:Hot swimming pool.
Review 20:Some smell in the room
Review 21:Hospitality of reception stuff
Review 22:When our departure was delayed by a flat tyre the staff were not very friendly from check out onwards.
Review 23:Convenient and comfortable
Review 24:very slow internet, interruptions
Review 25:staff, room, indoor pool
Review 26:Plumbing stopped working in our unit; plumbing and flow of water was an issue - flow to shower in both units was poor - little to none (no pressurized water system). Wi-Fi is poor in town or non-existent in the hotel during high use periods.
Review 27:The apartment that we were moved to when when the plumbing & door lock did not work in the unit was acceptable to the three of us. Staff responded well and no additional charges were made for the adjustment.
Review 28:The room we had was small & nowhere to hang up our clothe we had top it it all on the bed & then back into the suit case before we could go to bed
Review 29:The location,the wooden furniture
Review 30:Could not turn off heater in room bar only had lukewarm beer /fridge was off or broken tv in room did not work very slow wifi/ internet
Review 31:Great shower Great bed vat which was advertised on booking.com not to beincluded was actually included (saved 21% on vat)
Review 32:Excellent breakfast, friendly staff, very good location next to the trailhead. Sauna good, just it has to be heated up way in advance (but they will do it for you). the pool was warm and clean! what others may see as dirt on the bottom, is actually the paint on the bottom of the pool, which is coming off.But it is not disturbing at all.
Review 33:staff was not friendly. it was very warm in the room, central heating was either on or off. no chance to hang up 3 jackets or towels in a triple room. computer & internet available but very slow. pool did not look very promising, not meant for swimming. breakfast is good if you rather have little muffins than toast.
Review 34:overall impression was not that bad but if the staff were friendlier we would have felt more welcomed and maybe would recommend the place
Review 35:The water in the swimming pool could be more clean, the hotel seems of better quality on the pictures
Review 36:Swimming pool, decent size of the room, wifi in the room
Review 37:The flat was moderately clean; we didn't know that you had to dropthe key off at reception for it to be cleaned on following days(although this still did not happen on the second occasion). They aremade very cheaply so as soon as you look a little too closely, thingsstart going wrong. The shower curtain almost fell onto me as I wascoming out of the shower. We tried to put it back and then it fellagain. The floor of the shower is not leveled so there is always astagnant pool of water that stays there. The internet usually works afew minutes a day in the flat. Otherwise it's ok at breakfast orreception until it stops. There are no 'fitness facilities' asdescribed on booking.com. The pool is pretty horrendous (I wonder whenit last got cleaned), in a very damp smelling room. The sauna was out.We were generally very disappointed with our stay for the price we paid.Perhaps the hotel rooms were better?
Review 38:We had high hopes when we booked Kalenshen - staff were friendly overemail and we thought this was going to be the best hotel we bookedduring the three week holiday in Argentina we had. Unfortunately itdidn't turn out to be that good. We spent 4 nights in one of theapartments. The highlight of the hotel for us were the scones atbreakfast! The beds were alright, we actually had a double bed and twobunk beds.
Review 39:The bed/bathrooms are not soundproof. One hears other guests using the bathroom.
Review 40:Breakfast offers good variety. Warm and comfy blankets. Rooms are cleaned regularly.
Review 41:Toilets in swimming pool/Sauna area were out of order and smelt verybad. Internet very slow, but that is non issue as you should be in thepool or sauna anyway.
Review 42:Friendly lovely receptionist, great rooms, good tv selection, cosywooden cabin feel.
Review 43:The pool is indeed their but thats it. When we wanted to use it their was à kayak lesson going on and their changing room was the sauna ;-) Don't expect to much of the poolarea.
Review 44:The beds were very comfortable and the shower was Nice and warm. Breakfast was beter than what we had sofar, fruit, ham and cheese etc. Location is at the end of town were some walking paths begin but the town is very small so it doesn't matter where you stay for that matter.
Review 45:Perfect place to relax after a day of hiking. Very comfortable and great staff.
Review 46:The beds are awesome.
Review 47:There Is swimming pool but not of run There are gym room but not... Théflat are new but not good finition
