Reviews for SENTIDO Zugspitze Berghotel Hammersbach

Review 1:The room was not the same with the one presented and did not look like a 4 star room. The pool and the restaurant are in two other different building and we had to walk in cold weather for using its. There are not enough parking space.

Review 2:Smoking guests right in front of the entrance of the hotel. Room in basement, for a few days doable. (Not enough snow in the mountains yet).

Review 3:Breakfast, great spa area, Parking and wi-fi included, although a large complex not overcrowded when you skip the rush hours Close by Eibsee/Zugspitze to ski and hikes possible straight from the hotel up to Kreuzeck or Höllentalklamm. Enough other restaurants in the area.

Review 4:More signs written in English and staff need to speak English to English speaking customers staying at the hotel. One particular waiter kept trying to speak German to us even after the fourth day of our stay when he perfectly knew we do not speak German.

Review 5:Location is amazing, big rooms and plenty of parking space. Huge choice of food for breakfast.

Review 6:the train going by, but not loud. Everything was great beyond that.

Review 7:Most everything was perfect but had a train for a view. the facilities were fantastic in most every way. Breakfast was amazing!!!!!

Review 8:Internet was slow and had to be renewed every day at reception, ideally wifi should be accessible throughout the hotel without this archaic method of renewal.

Review 9:Breakfast was a lovely variety, the location of the hotel to all main trekking routes and the pool made this hotel a great choice.

Review 10:Customer service - from the front desk staff to the cleaners, everyone was friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the mini bar was very affordable - we couldn't resist indulging. The hot breakfast was also a nice treat. The swimming pool was enjoyed by both the kids and adults after a long day of sightseeing, and I can only imagine how enjoyable the pool would be during the skiing season. The view from the room was really pretty. We only stayed the one night, but we would have loved to have stayed longer.

Review 11:There is nothing much to stay - we had to stay only 1 night, but we stayed 2 more days. We fell in love with this perfect place! Everything was more than you can ask :) Stuff, location, food, SPA, wifi..perfect!

Review 12:Stafff is somewhat neutral not friendly but not unfriendly too. The rooms have beds which are not real double beds but two single beds put together. The curtains do not block the sun. And also (this was not the hotels fault) the community did a sewing work between 7 and 7:30 in the morning. The sauna was closed although it was supposed to be open and the pool is really cold. One has to pay extra for the bath robe

Review 13:The location is wonderfullnd also the breakfast is very nice

Review 14:We liked the hotel in general. And the fact that you can buy your train ticket to Zugspitze directly at the hotel reception. The landscape around the hotel is awesome. We travelled with a two-year-old and everything was fine, and the child bed was installed in our room when we arrived. High chairs were available at breakfast. The staff was very kind and answered all our questions, and spoke english very well. We would definitely go back to this hotel.

Review 15:We booked an economy room (121 Eur, the cheapest) for 2 nights. Hotel was full (in August) and we got a room in an annexe building, in the basement !!! You can imagine the pleasure of staying in your holiday in a basement room - first time in our life. The view was under the ground floor balcony. And of course it was a typical musty smell. It was nowhere mentioned that if you book an economy room you will receive one in the basement ! If we have known it, we would never booked it. As we complained and wanted to leave, the second day we received a nice 2nd floor room with big balcony. Very nice ! So, I don't understand why they keep these underground rooms !? Just for bad advertising ? Bed also not so good, too soft.

Review 16:Breakfast - the best we ever had ! Very good facilities. Nice view and very polite staff.

Review 17:Staff at reception not so kind Our annex was quite old, not on par with 4-stars standards Hotel facing the route, no garden or space to stay out

Review 18:Swimming pool is great

Review 19:The hotel consists of 4 buildings and you have to drag your bags all the way to your intended room if it's not on the main reception's building.

Review 20:The location is just minutes away from the Alpspitze cable station. Cozy and warm ambiance. Free parking.

Review 21:bed was not comfortable, the cost of the room did not equate to the value. The value was 20 euros per night. Parking was an issue, little parking and garage costs too much, had to park a ways was inconvenient to load and unload.

Review 22:Location

Review 23:Small changes, paying 5 euro for the Spa, room not refreshed or water replaced on a few days. Nowhere near enough to reduce score. Oh, please mark out your car parks and fit an extra 10 cars in!

Review 24:The location is fantastic, right at the base of the mountain. The breakfast is vast and the cost per night very cheap considering what you get.

Review 25:The scenic location; the varied breakfast buffet; the spacious room; the many walks available in the immediate area; the proximity to the little Zugspitze railway; the facilities available in the hotel. We plan to return!

Review 26:Very nice hotel to spend time with children. Nothing to be complained about. Breakfast very good quality. Rooms clean and even if renovated, the "old bavarian style" had been maintained in a fresh way. You could buy tickets eg.for Zugspitzbahn in the hotel. Variety of treatments (massage etc) available. Will return for relaxing holiday break.

Review 27:Only minor gripe was the introduction of a charge for the sauna for guests

Review 28:The hotel is ideally located to visit the Zugspitze and other local attractions. The room was well equipped and comfortable with a pleasant view from the balcony. All the staff were attentive and pleasant at all times. Food was good. Would return without hesitation

Review 29:The room decoration was terrible, horrible curtains, sofa, armchairs, not to mention the walls painted in light orange with some embelishments:)) The receptionist was not very helpful, we waisted 2 hours trying to find the train station and buy tickets for Zugspitze, only to find out when we checked out that we could have bought the tickets from the reception.

Review 30:The location was good, very clean, new bathroooms, amazing breakfast, price was great for a triple room, nice view.

Review 31:A super grumpy male cook/waitstaff but it was hot enough so he gets a pass; no AC but we managed with windows open at night; This hotel had no public area trash cans. Seemed strange. When you travel with children you make a lot of trash!! (Not to mention stinky diapers you don't want marinating in a warm hotel room!!) No room fridge and ice wasn't easy to get but we eventually found someone to get us some from the kitchen.

Review 32:Excellent breakfast! Location was perfect between Garmisch & Zugspitze & right next to light rail. Spacious room, helpful staff! Very nice modern pool

Review 33:I can not complain. Evrything was ok and the prices are ok too. I saw only outside parking places.

Review 34:Very nice hotel, you can rent a bike or ebike and you can roam around the nice bavarian villages. Food is plenty, fresh and very good. Staff was friendly.

Review 35:Weak internet and you had to get a sheet from the front desk every 24hrs with new login/password. With only 500mb data there's no streaming anything. Dated interiors; furniture and flooring needs to be updated.

Review 36:Beautiful location, great breakfast, friendly staff.

Review 37:Sauna &pool were great, the food was very good and frish, the hotel is near to the bus and train station, our room was clean and the hotel is close to creek, so we sleapt like babies.

Review 38:The free Wifi in the rooms in "Haus Werdenfels" is terrible and the rooms could have better lighting at night.

Review 39:Loved the location and access to skiing area, hotel room and restaurants were nice if a bit dated. Fantastic view from room and nice bathroom..

Review 40:Watch out! Half of the rooms are in an older building accros the street. Reception said it was our fault as we should have called that we actualy wanted to stay in the hotel (?!)

Review 41:Large pool. Excellent breakfast.

Review 42:Poolside showers not very warm. Didn't like being in Alpspitz building and having to walk outside every time we wanted to eat/drink or use any of the facilities.

Review 43:Extensive choice for breakfast. Nice bar areas and restaurants. Love the Gluhwein hut outside main building!

Review 44:They accept pets ... but tried to move us to a different building--be sure to talk to them about the exact room. Their main building does not accept pets, nor do they say "pets accepted upon request"

Review 45:great facility and breakfast!!!

Review 46:Staff doesn't speek very good English, and not very friendly. You need to ask about everything by yoursellf if not they will not propose although they have skypass, rent, internet codes etc. Very dissapointing about the room we got - the Hotel is composed of 3 buildings. Two of them are connected by underground colidor and the third one is separate. So if you will get a room not in one of the two connected buildings you will be obliged go outside every time you want to go to the retaurant, to the bar or sauna. The third building has nothing there are only the rooms. And when its cold outside, raining or snowing you dont expect to go outside in order to use the facilities that usually should be in the 4 stars hotel. One more thing - the double bed it is two separate beds together, therefore there is alway a big hole between you and your partner.

Review 47:Food was nice SPA with the different saunas is exelent Location is very good

Review 48:Nothing to mention, everything was perfect!

Review 49:Fantastic location Just leave the car at the hotel and use the very good and nearby bus and train possibilities Very good food of high quality and much variation for all family members Big two level family rooms with

Review 50:Leaving!

Review 51:Beautiful setting, lovely buildings, good parking, free bus/train pass, excellent staff, good food, very reasonable price for accommodation, food and drinks. Swimming pool and health spa. Hotel immaculate. Staff service is impeccable and friendly. Breakfast buffet superb even offering free Sekt (German'Champagne') with Christmas breakfasts. Excellent menu and wide range of drinks. Room had a balcony with lovely views of mountains. Cog railway to Zugspitze mountain stops at hotel. Hotel offers standards in excess of 4 star status.

Review 52:parking is very limited, especially when there is a lot of snow. Beds are typical European, very firm.

Review 53:the hotel has a great buffet for meals, staff is friendly and speaks enough English to effectively communicate, location cannot be beat for access to the train to all ski sports spots. Will definitely return.

Review 54:Very limited "Free" internet capacity (stops working after 500 MB data transfer). Unlimited internet should be included at these hotel prices.

Review 55:Beautiful, rural setting--close to mountains, hiking paths, water activities, etc... Attentive breakfast serving staff--they accomodated our young sons who have food allergies. Bus and Train stops just a few steps away. Wonderful pool kept our children busy!! Great view from the balconies.

Review 56:The cheapest room is well equipped and huge. Food is very good. Breakfast buffet has a big variety of quality food. Dinner from the restaurant was excellent at a very reasonable price (not sure about the hotel buffet although it looked very good). Big and warm pool, excellent for adults and kids.

Review 57:Everything! Outdoor restaurant was lovely, cozy room, cozy bar, great breakfast buffet, friendly staff, great location, free train to town and to Zugspitze, hiking path nearby, bike rentals. We loved this hotel and would recommend it in a heart beat!!

Review 58:The furniture and lighting are a bit tired. No minibar/fridge in the room.

Review 59:-State-of-the-art swimming pool -Rich and varied breakfast buffet -Large room My impression is that after being acquired by the Sentido chain, the hotel is undergoing a gradual process of renovation. The spa/pool areas are impressive, while the rooms are not quite of the same level. Hope they will be soon :-).

Review 60:This is the second time we have stayed there. The location of the place is amazing considering you can walk out the front door and immediately hit up the gorge between the Alspitze and the Zugspitze. The breakfast and staff cap it out as both being amazing!

Review 61:Sorry can't fault it really German pillows not to my taste but nothing else.

Review 62:Views are stunning Rooms are large and comfortable with immaculate bathrooms. Balcony or patio is like another room Swimming and spa areas are massive and modern good amount of free parking Massive cooked or buffet breakfast new free wifi throughout

Review 63:Bed was a little small (I'm 6'2"). The shower was a little cramped.

Review 64:Location is phenomenal especially if you are into hiking. Staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. The buffet breakfast was awesome.

Review 65:Our only complaint is that the "woman's" bike given to my wife was geared badly and designed more for someone wearing a dress than actually biking somewhere; women, be sure to ask for a regular man's bike and adjust the seat!

Review 66:This spa/resort hotel is superb! We initially booked for two nights, just my wife and I, planning to go on to meet our daughter for a couple of days elsewhere. BUT, given that our goal was to do some hiking in the Bavarian Alps and there are incredible trails right outside the door, we decided to stay! The hotel reception staff were VERY helpful -- both in getting us changed from a double to a family room, and then in offering to help us find train connections for our daughter coming over from Konstanz. At the first questions about trains, the receptionist said she would "do some research" and get back to us! She did, quickly! Our double room was exceptional with a balcony overlooking a blue mountain stream, which cooled the whole surroundings. The family room was equally nice, with lots of ventilation, large bath, and great bedding. Several eating and bar options right there, and it is a short walk into the lovely town of Grainau. Breakfast was exceptional as well -- likely the best we had anywhere in Germany, Switzerland and France -- with many many choices of cooked dishes, breads, self serve items, and fresh fruit. The spa is downstairs and has a wide range of sauna and steam room options. The sauna was our favorite -- hot and dry! The hotel provided a card for free bus and train service, which runs all day up and down the valley. From here there is a train station about 1 minute from our room that takes you up to Eibsee or the other direction to Garmisch. We also rented bikes for the day and did a circuit of lake Eibsee and along the bike trails into Garmisch. I can't say enough about the hiking -- literally out the door, or a 15 min walk down to the nearby ski lifts that can take you up to Alpspitze or Kreuzig. Overall, this was a fabulous place and we highly recommend it for couples or families.

Review 67:Guests smoking everywhere

Review 68:We were impressed the hotel provided us with the bus and train pass which made our stay much more enjoyable The breakfast was amazing Loved the Bavarian restaurant next door ,had a great meal and wonderful ambience Having the pool was a bonus especially with a child

Review 69:I booked my room through booking.com, and there was 2 options for a single room. I picked the one for a patio which I offered to show them my confirmation. However, when I checked-in I saw that my room did not have a patio, and they said single rooms didn't have patios, and I could get a balcony for another 20 Euro a night. Which I ended up doing. The bed was very uncomfortable and worn. There was a big dip in the middle that I kept sliding down to and when I told them at check out, they said yeah, we know we need new beds. One side of my shower leaked all over the floor. My telephone did not work and I told them the day I checked in, but they didn't do anything to fix it, which had me running to the front desk every time I needed something. I'm disappointed that the staff did not do anything to rectify the issues, of even offer me compensation, instead I ended up paying more........

Review 70:I had a massage that was a bit pricey, but it was very good. Very close to hiking trails and bus and train.

Review 71:The location by the river and the breakfast.

Review 72:Nice large room, with very good breakfast. Convenient to bus and train service. Very nice pool and exercise facility

Review 73:Inside space of the room.

Review 74:The calmness and water flow sound.

Review 75:- Limited parking

Review 76:+ Breakfast was excellent. + Nice quiet location + Pool was great

Review 79:Location Breakfast buffet

Review 80:didn't have mini fridge

Review 81:good breakfast, comfortable room

Review 83:I've never found a wide variety of breakfast like what in this hotel.

Review 84:Everything was perfect. Very rich breakfast, helpful stuff, location, free parking

Review 85:bad wi-fi Internet was not up to the high quality standards of the hotel

Review 86:Perfectly located near hiking trails, the Zugspitze train, and downtown Garmisch.

Review 87:Hotel location

Review 88:Great location, right below Zugspitze mountain. Lovely pool and fantastic breakfast.

Review 89:Location was great. Breakfast was good. Also buildings are connected underground with pool

Review 90:Best place I have stayed in Garmich Partenkirchen area, big comfortable room, great restaurant, convinient hub for hiking, great swimming pool.

Review 91:Location and veiw from balcony and staff as well

Review 92:Everything!!!

Review 93:staff were not helpful. Poor communication

Review 94:Average at best

Review 95:Lots of group travellers. Rooms at the entrance of buildings are truly noisy. Not much sleep.

Review 96:Lovely faclities, very helpful staff, great for hiking.

Review 97:loved the bedroom especially the view of the mountains and adored the swimming pool it was really nice to spend time there.

Review 98:Loved the pool, excellent food, good location!

Review 99:WIFI is somewhat out of the last century.

Review 100:Excellent service. Perfect breakfast.

Review 101:Everything. Food was great. Ladies at the reception very friendly and helpful. Hotel is just wow

Review 102:Room location

Review 103:Breakfast

Review 104:Separated rooms within hotel premises

Review 105:Excellent breakfast with much variety

Review 106:We loved our stay at the Sentido!

Review 107:Great location, lovely hotels doom, wellness. Everything is good.

Review 108:Poor internet connectivity in room. Had to go out in hallway for wifi to work properly.

Review 109:Best location imaginable!

Review 110:Location, hospitality, swimming pool, breakfast

Review 111:A bit remote from shopping and dining outside of the hotel resturant.

Review 112:Location was perfect for hiking and access to area attractions.

Review 113:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is lovely. The swimming pool and sauna are fantastic. The train to Zugspitz stops outside the hotel and the tickets can be bought from reception. The breakfast was exceptional, a wide and varied choice. Our room had a bay window that looked out on Waxenstein mountain. We would definitely return.

Review 114:the room was small for a 4 star, really more the size of a 3 star. the location was quiet and it was easy to get to the slopes, but if you wanted to go to town you needed to travel a while by bus (but this was convenient too)

Review 115:the sauna after skiing, the breakfast buffet, the hotel bar, generally very well organised for a ski break.

Review 116:The food is very average. At dinner the French beans looked re-heated and were very soft from over cooking. At breakfast, no real fruit juice was offered, just bottles of concentrate and a jug of water. Disappointing for a hotel of this price range.

Review 117:Location avoids being stuck in centre of Garmisch and the views of the mountains are good.

Review 118:minor niggle- bathrobes and slippers should be complimentary in a hotel of this standard.

Review 119:Good Location, easy access to the slopes - the Kreuzeck lift is 5mins by train or car. Facilities between blocks linked by heated underground corridor. Nice hotel for a weekend ski break, with everything available on site (ski-hire, restaurants, bars, pool, saunas etc).

The Fine Print

Spa and Wellness Centre, Sauna, and the Hammam can be used for a surcharge of EUR 5 per day/per guest
