Reviews for Brauereigasthof Goldener Löwe

Review 1:The wifi was working terribly at any moment of the day, for 3 days out of the 4 I spent there.

Review 2:The breakfast was indeed as good as the reviews say. I couldn't have asked for more! And the homemade marmalade was absolutely delish! (plus they offered a complimentary jar when I left) The room was large and very clean, plainly but tastefully decorated.

Review 3:The hotel is located in a really old building. Hence the rooms are not super fancy, but the old charm of the hotel - especially the restaurant and the breakfast room more than compensate for this.

Review 4:Parking is a bit limited, Rooms are OK but basic. The price is good for what is offered.

Review 5:Hotel as such is nice. The rooms are a bit basic, rustical, also traditional. You won't miss anything, but it is not luxury. Its clean, though. Restaurant is great, Breakfast is very nice, a lot of marmelade to choose. Nice staff

Review 6:Wonderful, charming, cozy place! Close to downtown and its attractions; close to the train station and bus station; there is also a parking (if you need one). Pleasant staff. Tasty breakfast. Many little things for pleasure and convenience: aphorisms and photos as a design element, the weather forecast for each day, etc. Marmalade as a gift! :)

Review 7:There's a bit of noise from the street at night. They actually leaveyou a pair of earplugs. I'm used to small rooms traveling throughEurope, but this was really rather tiny. The bed and attached end tablespretty much encompassed the room except for a small desk and a closet. Ican't count the number of times I smacked my right leg on theradiator controls getting into my side of the bed each night. 8 Euros, about $21 for the two of us seemed rather pricey for the standardEuropean breakfast of rolls, meats, cheese, and jams. And it was a bitof a surprise because breakfast was quoted on Booking.com as 6.50 Euros.

Review 8:Great location. Right next to the Maisel Brewery which is a must see.Easy walking distance to a large indoor mall and to the old section oftown with the Opera House, and the old and new palaces. The room wasclean and the bed was a good size and very comfortable.

Review 9:We had room 23 in the front of the hotel, it was very noisy with traffic all night. The car headlights illuminated the room during the night. Ask for a room that does not face the street. The wi-fi stopped working at 10:00pm

Review 10:Room was adequate size, bathroom was large and had toiletries which included ear plugs. It could be loud as there is a restaurant downstairs.

Review 11:Seemed a little expensive, but then again the Richard Wagner Festival was going on, so they were probably in line with demand.

Review 12:Staff was very helpful, rooms were quite adequate, and the breakfast was good.

Review 13:The bathroom was a little small.

Review 14:I found their single room a good and inexpensive place to stay in Bayreuth for one night. A well renovated and well kept room in a historical building.

Review 15:Nice and clean washroom but the shower is very small. you can not move around maybe because we chose small room. I hope the others have bigger showers.. but overall the hotel and facilities are very good . great staff and price is fair.

Review 16:Great location, very nice hotel.. Clean hotel and a great breakfast..

Review 17:I liked everything located 15 mins from hbf on foot. The staff was humble and the room was clean. Good environment. Highly recommended.

Review 18:Staff very helpful.

Review 19:A little noisy street location and Wi-Fi is very poor , needs to be updated .

Review 20:Location , breakfast , service & price .

Review 21:Road noise

Review 22:Location

Review 23:Shower in bathroom in bad position and unable to raise high enough to stand under comfortably.

Review 24:The WIFI-hotspot was very very bad.

Review 25:Everything , good value for money for a short stay.

Review 26:nothing

Review 27:Breakfast is one of the best in the world

Review 28:Wi-Fi didn't work very well at all

Review 29:Nice rooms, close to Altstadt, good breakfast

Review 30:Wi-fi wasn't working properly.

Review 31:Clean, comfortable, pleasant staff, easy to find, walking distance from most of Bayreuth's sights.

Review 32:Free Wifi.....System Fehler.

Review 33:Stadt Zentrum!!! Sauber und Leckere Frühstück.

Review 34:Weak sound insulation.

Review 35:Helpfull personal, free parking, good breakfast.

Review 36:The wifi was not working in our room and in the part of the hotel where we were staying.

Review 37:Staff were very accommodating and always very friendly. The hotel was very clean and well organised.

Review 38:The variety in the breakfast could be a little bit better

Review 39:One does not have to pay extra for parking!

Review 40:The restaurant and the location

Review 41:Price Location Food Clean rooms

Review 42:While traveling through Germany, we stayed only one night but were very happy. We all wished we could have stayed longer. Breakfast was great, but the dinner in their dinning room was excellent! Would gladly go back and spend there.

Review 43:- NO smoke detectors installed (nor on corridor, neither in guestrooms): in combination with a historic building lacking additional emergency exit from upper floors this is not acceptable. I talked to staff which promissed to carry this issue forward to owner of this recommendable, nice hotel.

Review 44:- excellent value for money due to location in middle of town, perfect and clean rooms, perfect service and dedicated staff!

Review 45:Hotel set in a historic building, cosy room, comfortable beds, clean bathroom, free wifi, tasty breakfast, nice staff, great location in the city center.

Review 46:noise - you can hear your neighbors and people in the corridor, small bathroom, no wifi in the room, breakfast not included in the price

Review 47:good location - close to the city centre, excellent breakfast (however at extra charge), rooms clean, free parking available

Review 48:No set plan for late arrival through no fault of our own. We got intoour room only by prayer and intervention from God.

Review 49:Great breakfast in a beautiful room for 6.50 Euros.

Review 50:You couldn't even get a cup of coffee, when the restaurant was closed.

Review 51:A real german "Gasthof". Very close to the two beermuseeums of Bayreuth. Very nice restaurant - when it is open.

Review 52:Very old fecilities, no reception service after 16:00. All instructions only in German language (only few also in English - but really few). Poor knowledge of English of employees. Internet access nearly impossible (due to no personal in the evening)

Review 53:kind employees (even with bad English)

Review 54:On arrival the premises were unstaffed with a notice giving instructions to phone the manager who would then tell you how to get your room key. But we couldn't read the note and would have appreciated the message being supplied to us Australians in English.

Review 55:Lovely breakfast and friendly etaff

Review 56:Breakfast was only adequate compared with other hotels we have stayed inand paid less for. The decor was very "tired" and needed acoat of paint and a little tlc

Review 57:A good central location.

Review 58:Small room up two flights of steps and strangely configured bathroom. Wifi not included.

Review 59:Friendly staff, great dinner, very good breakfast, free parking and breakfast included. Decent shower. Clean.

Review 60:I like simply all. I haven't found anything, which I shouldn't. A great room with excellent facilities, comfortable bed, stylish boarding house, great choice of continental breakfast - I could see it wasn't just the cheapest stuff in it, e. g. home made muesli, fresh (really fresh!!!) fruit salad, quality teas, salami, cheese and much more. And even more - I could feel, that guests can get something extra for their money, which is not always usual. A friendly guest house with really friendly people working there. I can honestly recommend this one as a 5 star guest house and would have chosen this one, when staying in Bayreuth again.

Review 61:Noise from the adjacent street and the fact that the mini-bar fridge in my room was not properly working, instead of cooling, it was heating the drinks. When I informed one of the staff, she replied, that they were aware of it.

Review 62:The staff was very friendly, the breakfast good and the room was clean.

Review 63:If you can't climb steps, it would not be appropriate.

Review 64:My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Goldener Lowe in Bayreuth. We arrived and were cordially greeted and showed to our room. The gasthof is in two parts joined in the center by the reception area and the bar. We stayed in the newer section on the third floor and had a very nice room with a sitting area and bathroom. Even though, the room had one of its windows facing the street, we had no noise. We had a very comfortable big bed with great reading lights. Above the bed, was a window that looked out over a garden area. The gasthof had its own parking area which was very convenient. Breakfast was magnificent. The best on our 2 week vacation. Great bread, yogurt, soft boiled eggs, ham, muesli and their own homemade preserves and jams. When we left, they gave us a jar of red currant jam which we are enjoying at home. Our schedule worked out that we would be visiting with a friend there a week later so we returned to the Goldener Lowe and stayed in the other side. It was very similar to the first room. Also quiet and comfortable. The Goldener Lowe is within walking distance - maybe 1km - from the city center. We walked to dinner every night and all around the city center. We would recommend the Goldener Lowe to anyone on a vacation.

Review 65:We stayed there from saturday to sunday and there was some noise fromthe street when the youngsters passed by at late hours.

Review 66:The hotel offered free parking space in the backyards and was locatedfairly close to the city center. The center is large and nice andobviously with focus on Richard Wagner. The room was nicely arranged inthe old building with charming low roof and visual view of thestructures. Breakfast was very good. The restaurant was closed due tomaintenance.

Review 67:Alexandra.

Review 68:Except for the owner, Alexandra, the staff were superb. Unfortunately,Alexandra was brusque, impatient, rude, and borderline nasty. Everythingelse was fine.

Review 69:We had a lovely stay at the Brauereigasthof Goldener Loewe. We asked for a baby cot which was provided all set up in the room. There was a free minibar and a lot of space in the room. The breakfast was good and we even enjoyed a great evening meal at the Gasthof. The best thing for us was how accomodating the staff were with our having a young baby daughter, they gave us boiling water for her milk and a highchair at the dinner and we were made to feel really welcome.

Review 70:Very thin curtain, therefore room was too bright in the morning. Some ofthe staff not so polite.

Review 71:We stayed 4 nights at this hotel and had a great time. It's not fancy ormodern but it has everything you'll need for a short stay at a smalltown like Bayreuth. Great restaurant with reasonable prices. Rooms notso big but very nice bed (downside for our room was there was noblackout curtains, only a very thin curtain, so in the morning the roomwould be very bright). They provided us with a free baby bed for ourson. Breakfast is the typical German breakfast, with a wide variety ofbreads, fruits, cheese and wurst. Location is great, just 2 blocks awayfrom the shopping mall and 3 blocks from the city center.

Review 72:we travelled with 2 small children and our 2 rooms were separated with quite long distance; reception staff on the first day was not really nice and welcome - on the opposite in the morning the staff at the reception desk was very nice.

Review 73:good location, good food, good quality standard

Review 74:very clean, well located in the city centre. staff very kind

Review 75:They over charged me.

Review 76:Short walk to Shopping, city center and bus terminal. Good breakfast.

Review 77:Internet in room was hit & miss .

Review 78:Friendly staff , Location and excellent cuisine .

Review 79:The reception should learn to smile more.

Review 80:It is clean and very close to the city centre. It is also well-connected by transportation

Review 81:Breakfast served in what should have been the bar area.

Review 82:Helpful staff, good food especially breakfast, off-street parking

Review 83:A very calm and small hotel near the centre of Bayreuth. A very friendly staff.

Review 84:Parking bit tight

Review 85:Breafast outside on terrace

Review 86:Everything, as I have already said.
