Review 5:Nothing
Review 6:Location is great, it is in the middle of city, in a shopping street. Private room is big, clean and lovely. İt is a social hostel, there are events every evening. Staff is helpful. İt is a safety place. Dont think for another hostel.
Review 7:Amazing staff, perfect location, great activities every day, lots of socializing. Even the guests were awesome, because great places attract great people. An amazing week became even better thanks to them.
Review 8:Clean, cheap, great facilities and rooms, great guests, free events and lovely staff. Hostel right in the centre of Prague. Probably the best hostel I've ever been to.
Review 9:One of the best hostels I've ever been. Great location, friendly and helpful staff in 24h reception, spacious, clean, stylish room, free wifi+ PC corner, possibility of ordering breakfast, a lot of free activities (Prague trips, cooking, beer degustation). I'm sure I'll come back to Prague and to Hostel Downtown.
Review 10:Minimal but not many power sockets in the room
Review 11:This hostel is fantastic for the solo traveller. Vibrant and lively common area, excellent for meeting new friends. Hostel always providing great activities for everyone to do.
Review 12:This hostel is hands down the best, the vibrant atmosphere created by the staff cannot be beat. Brent, who spent many days putting up Christmas decorations to make the guests feel at home and dedicated so much time to ensuring everyone has an amazing stay and Bernice, who runs a fantastic wine tasting made me extend my stay by 5 days! -Perfect location -Nice Rooms -Great value for money -Excellent staff Made lifelong friends at this place, and I'm sure you will too.
Review 13:----Nothing----
Review 14:The hostel has very wide activities, cooking, city tours, beer tours... We loved the casrle tour, and night tour with Mirek and his dog, as well we loved the beer and night tour with Gill And the cooking lesson was really good and professional and fun and tasty Me and my friend are 29, we met people there that were 20 and people that were 40, it is good for every age. If you are looking for fun and partying or if you are looking to relax after long day of city woking , this place is good for everyone. We stayed in a double room with a bathroom, perfect. We will definitely come back here.
Review 15:They should have more information about the pubs or clubs and they should be able to recommend some.
Review 16:The free walking tours were awesome and interesting and the staff was very kind. It's clear and comfortable.
Review 17:Every day the hostel organizes at least 2 activities for its visitors, there is always something for everyone. I would recommend the "Ghost Tour" with Mirek, he tells about unknown legends with his typical sense of humor.
Review 18:WiFi was not so good in the room
Review 19:Personel, location, service, hospitality and the events were absolutely amazing. Don't think twice to choose Hostel Downtown. The best hostel in Prague so far
Review 20:I wish every room had its own bathroom.
Review 21:The location is right in the centre, but it's much quieter than others placed I stayed in. I loved the breakfast, and the beer tasting, and the place where people could socialise.
Review 22:I thought that the bathrooms were a bit stuffy.
Review 23:The staff were amazing ! I loved all of the amenities and free activities and tours. The rooms were also very comfortable, and the kitchen was really up to date and clean. Great breakfast too :)
Review 24:We had a particularly loud neighbor. We had to ask them to keep their voice down after an hour of really loud laughter in the hallway
Review 25:I liked the breakfast buffet. Convenient and worth every penny
Review 26:I just wonder how it would be during winter, as the windows are really old and are not hermetic at all.
Review 27:Very central. Walking distance to downtown and main square. The room was very clean.
Review 28:In room 104, in 7 beds room the mattress for 1 person bed isn't comfortable, as i could feel springs under my back. You have to rechange it.
Review 29:The location is really very nice, you even don't have to use transport to get main sightseeing. The breakfast is very good - eggs, sausages, fruits, yougurts and so on. The activities are every day. I came before my bed was ready, but i could leave my bag in lagguage store. Even the hostel is a big and has many poeple i never met any girl in the bathroom. I didn't notice any problem with hot water.
Review 30:This is definitely the most social hostel I have ever stayed at! There is a social activity on everyday/night and the staff there are awesome! A special mention to Brent who not only is the man for pub crawls but also knows how to cook a scrumptious meal for the free meal night at the hostel! I have heard that Brent is always there looking after his people during pub crawl and that's nice to hear! The 4 euro breakfast is also well worth it because it's got a great variety including fresh cooked eggs, pancakes and sausages!
Review 31:Good location. Everything is just walking distance away. Extremely helpful staff. Private room (bathroom en suite) was big and neat. Ghost tour/ free walking tour organised by the hostel.
Review 32:We woke up very early in the morning due to construction noise - also on sunday. We had to check out very early. Next time we'll book a late check out (if that is possible).
Review 33:The hostel is well located in the city centre. Our room was big. The staff was very friendly and also the other guests were nice.
Review 34:The bathrooms could've been cleaner, plus there should at least be a few more showers on the floor from where I was staying.
Review 35:I enjoyed the free tour the hostel gave of Prague. Mirek was awesome!
Review 36:This is the first hostel in my experience where partying and drinking was right in the rooms. Therefore 4 of 6 nights I stayed there were very noisy. To my rebuke at reception was told me that this hostel
Review 37:Breakfast
Review 38:The room was in front of a "work in progress area" and they worked also at 7am on Sunday with a lot of noise. Sleeping in the morning was impossibile also because there was no light barriers on the windows. The room was in the south part of the building and the temperature in the room was too hot (of course no air conditioning). The cold water in the shower doesn't work (only hot one) and having a shower in some part of the days was impossible. I think I will never book here again.
Review 39:The position and the staff
Review 40:written from sixth floor, august 2015: murderous shower- tries to kill you every time neighbors flush the toilet. sometimes the cold water totally disappears. a real pain, double meaning. don't even think of showering in rush hours. flawed auditorial and visual privacy- window is either to a noisy construction site in the busy main street (and a peaky crane operator), or to another very close room's window. you can recognize chinese easily if the window is open. no airconditioning. a small ventilator might be available, but might also not be. lack of electricity outlets in the room. so no small light+phone recharging. unless you come equipped. i did, because i'm smart. ancient computers in the lobby- painfully sluggish. win xp is too much for them to handle. they did not recognize my not-as-ancient iphone 4. (but did prove to be useful though) room is almost too small and the carpet might be unpleasant for the bear-footed princess. if you are allergic to youth- the hostel is mostly occupied by it. busy lift might keep you waiting (but might help you meet the short-love story of your life)
Review 41:the staff is breathtakingly experienced, friendly and helpful. as a veteran hostel clerk, i'm in real awe. special thanks to Adam, who seemed as if he couldn't not help (and smile while at it). i should mention 2 other staff members' names- one shaved-headed male and one long-haired female, but i forgot to ask for their names. anyway- thank you! really! your knowledge and smiles make any problem or flaw seem irrelevant, and your helpful tips are a gold mine. the hostel is full of character- the spacious reception+dining room hall is more than enough to help you meet other cool people. it might take a moment to get used to the busyness, but the place is.. just.. cool! all sorts of free and almost-free activities in the dining room, as well as the busy lift, help with mingling as well. dining room kitchen is fully equipped (if you are into showing your skills to the audience). the rooms, although flawed, are full of character too. good sense of security- each floor is only accessible to its' inhabitants. Easy-access card is key to the building, the floor, the room and the electricity. Smart. acceptable wifi signal (in sixth floor) hostel position is between the tourists' side (headed north) and the locals' side. a 10 minute walk to karl bridge, 5-10 minute walk to the shopping street in na prikope, and much much more. i didn't use any sort of transportation for 6 days.
Review 42:Really nice hostel, really nice room and really nice touch by them was giving them us a free drink as it was our mates birthday. I defo would go to them again.
Review 43:Barbara and the staff were really helpful and friendly, providing us with useful informationinformation that made our stay even better. The girls in reception are definetely the most elegant in Europe. It is also a great place to get to know people from different countries. Thank you downtown hostel!!!
Review 44:Although my booking was fixed in eur, they unilaterally charged me inczk the amount that is equivalent to premium of 7.5% to my bookingThe difference was claimed to be 1) transaction charge 2) premium in fx. The refused to return the balance between the real amount and what they have charged. I treat it is SO UNFRIENDLY TO THEIR GUESTS! Wouldn't stay here ever again
Review 45:the cleanliness of the reception need to be improved! The carpets should be removed. The eating area and the lounge are clean. I highly recommend the carpets to be replaced. The floor material in the eating area is easier to clean and maintain. The entrance should be renovated. This is the first and important impression. The towels have a smell in them.
Review 46:The staff is really friendly. Thank you for all your help! The tours were good and informative.
Review 47:Nothing!
Review 48:What is there not like? I was blown away by how awesome this hostel was. Absolutely loved every minute that I was there! Firstly, my room was a double ensure private room near the top, with a spacious shower and bathroom. Location is great - minutes walk to old town square and 2 metro stations Most of all, the staff went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. That included free cooking sessions, heaps of activities and tours, lots of information, and also musical instruments. Staff were awesome and very helpful, and the hostel have a very friendly and chilled vibe. Definitely the best hostel I've stayed in. I still miss it!
Review 49:All super clean and tidy. Staff is very helpful and supporting. Good activities in the evening (free walking tour, beer tasting). Wifi works decently.
Review 50:Our room was very hot! There was a window that opened to a small alley/tunnel with no air flow. Would recommend having at least a fan in the hot summer months.
Review 51:Location was great and staff was very kind.
Review 52:Towels weren't available in the room. However, these can be borrowed at the reception.
Review 53:1. Breakfast is cheaper and had bread, eggs, cereals, fruits (very nice for a hostel). 2. We took a private room. No noise even when located on a busy street. (maybe we got a room at the rear?!). 3. Place is clean and staff are quite helpful. They have maps, event brochures and even sell basic stuff like snacks, bottled water, etc,.
Review 54:Only thing I didn't like was when we got to our room the door was ajar, beds were unmade looking as if someone just got out of bed and there were a couple plastic bags and empty water bottles on the floor. Seemed as if the room was still being used especially since we arrived at 2200.
Review 55:Large private family room with our own bathroom including hot shower. Wonderfully kind, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Sight-seeing/tour options posted all over, many led by staff.
Review 56:Staff at the front desk are amazing, super helpful, free historical tours and beer tours with brent are a must do. He is the man. They put on free dinners. I had zero complaints. Had a great time all round and so will you. Get it done. Best hostel ever.
Review 57:Wish I stayed longer!
Review 58:This place is amazing! The staff and the free tour was soooo perfect! Brent the tour guide was very helpful. We had a great time as he shared to us about Prague. We also had the best Pub Crawl and that is coordinated by the hostel. The hostel is amazing and you are in the centre! Highly recommended.
Review 59:Everything was honestly great, the front desk staff whether it was 11am when we checked in or 3am after the bars they were friendly and able to help us with any questions we had(train time or walking directions). They even helped me make dinner reservations and order a taxi for the next morning.
Review 60:I liked everything about the hostel. Staff is vedy friendly and helpful. Location is great. Staff are great at creating opportunities to mix and meet.
Review 61:-Great location -Hostel staff providing excellent customer service in helping us to book last minute tour, airport transfer -We were very thankful hostel accommodated our request to provide 3 single beds and big room for us.
Review 62:There was only 1 laundry machine working, so everyone had to wait and queue for the machine.
Review 63:Everyone at the hostel was very friendly. I travel alone and met many new friends there. The staff there was very nice. Met with Brent who was always willing to help and bring us around, Gil with the interesting puppet show and all the fellow people staying there who were fun and interesting. There is also many activitiess organized by the hotel which is a good meeting point to meet new friends.
Review 64:everything was just perfect
Review 65:everything was just perfect: our room was comfortable, clean and quiet. the staff was above all praise. breakfasts were super! i should also mention Mirek (our ghost guide!). your excursion was amazing! thanks a lot, dude! you showed us another Prague! hi from Ukraine)
Review 66:The noise in the hallways, especially the heavy doors shutting, could be heard in the room. There were a bunch on teenage students staying and they were loud until 1 am.
Review 67:Loved the location and the staff. Lots of activities every night offered
Review 68:Our staff was definitely friendly and accommodating no matter the situation. The location was minutes away from the heart of the city and our room was well furnished. Other guests were extremely friendly as well. This hostel was definitely the centerpiece of our vacation.
Review 69:-Personnel accueillant, de bon conseils - Chambres très propres et confortables - situation géographique idéale ( 5 min a pieds de l'essentiel ) - staff welcoming, with good advices to find good places in Prague - perfect location ( close to everything --> 5 min on foot )
Review 70:The beds were a little bit uncomfortable and the bath room/ showers had a bit of an unpleasant smell but it was not unbearable. They don't clean the rooms unless you out a sign outside your door to notify. Otherwise you get what you pay for!
Review 71:This hostels was easily accessible from the metro station. Also, given the area, I was able to walk to old and new square, but also using the subway as well. The staff were friendly and helpful when needed. Breakfast was great, very easy and light, not to mention relatively cheap in common prison to breakfast at restaurants (plus it's all you can eat, so fill up!) If I come back, I would definitely stay here again! Thanks for welcome to Prague!
Review 72:The room is cozy even if it's a little bit small for 2 adult, but it's acceptable for the quality and price value. No many furniture in the room. But overall, it's a small and cozy place to stay. The staff there are very friendly and passionate to give recommendation for city tour. The hostel is quite near the station about 5 min walk. And the price is reasonable. Many young people from different countries stay there.
Review 73:Every morning we woke up around 10-11 with the noise of the cleaning ladies either talking between themselves, or talking on the phone really loud. I understand the rooms have to be cleaned. The problem was that while the vacuum cleaner, for example, was not loud enough to be disturbing, the cleaning staff managed to scream much louder. In my opinion this was disrespectful.
Review 74:We got a double room in the top floor. The room was very cosy. It felt like home. Clean, big comfortable bed, and a very nice bathroom. The staff was very helpful with anything we needed. The location is very convenient, walking distance to most places, and also good access to public transportation.
Review 75:No complaints
Review 76:The hostel was great and in a good location. Rooms are very spacious. Everything is clean and there was a good breakfast available with lots of choice (4 euros) The staff were very helpful and spoke perfect English
Review 77:This hostel was much nicer than I thought it was going to be for $40/3 nights. The staff was helpful with suggestions and information. The beds were comfortable and the rooms sparsely but nicely set up.
Review 78:The staff was very helpful and gave us great tips of where to eat and what to visit. The facilities are not fancy, but clean and good enough for a confortable stay and the hostel offers a lot of tours and activities, which makes it a good place to meet new people
Review 79:One of our beds was broken, so not very comfortable to sleep. The room was a bit cold as the heating is turned on only early in the morning and late in the afternoon.
Review 80:We were given a big room, probably a family room, and we have booked only a double room! The en suite bathroom is modern and clean. We were offered a very good value breakfast on the hostel and the location couldn't be better for us.
Review 81:The hostel is located at a very convenient location that is easy toaccess from the airport and the main train station and equidistant fromCharles bridge and the old town square. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and very reasonably priced. The breakfast (eur3.5) is quite aspread and worth waking up for before starting a day of walks andsightseeing. The staff is great and the hostel organises a number of great activities including free cooking classes, walking tours of the old town and Jewish quarter and beer walks. I would definitely recommend Gil's beer walk - the man knows his local bars and has a great knowledge of the local beers.
Review 82:-Staff was extremely friendly and -helpful. -Hostel organizes activities for guests and can suggest some great activities in Prague. With the hostel we did the tour of Prague with Mirek and it was fantastic. -Location is great, only a 10-15 minute walk from a major shopping area in downtown Prague (Praha 1 neighborhood). The 6th floor has a stunning view of the city. -Rooms were clean. -Very secure. Reception is staffed 24/7 and you need to swipe your card ~4 times to get to your room from the street.
Review 83:Having one mattress instead of twin mattress on our private double room would have been perfect. But that was not a big deal, we slept very well!
Review 84:The staff were really nice with us and the facilities (Internet, Kitchen, tv room etc) are great! It was really easy to let our luggages in the luggage room for the day we check out. It allows us to enjoy freely of this second day in Prague.
Review 85:Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent community space, free tours, cooking classes for dinner, piano in lounge, breakfast affordable and healthy. Location also very good. ..
Review 86:Very Clean rooms and bathrooms Withing walking distance to everything Staff was very helpful in organizing taxis late at night, giving basic information and just talking.
Review 87:Towels weren't included, but you could hire them. The free walking tour offered by the hostel and run by Gill was not very good and he was not able to give much information about the history of Prague and the Czech Republic.
Review 88:The staff were really helpful, especially Anna. The room had a really good view and the beds were comfortable.
Review 89:Leaving
Review 90:Terrific staff who are some some of the nicest people I've come across in my travels. Special mention for the catering staff who makes the greatest eggs and Hanka, the receptionist, who put up with the drunken rambling of me and my friend.
Review 91:the bathroom is small and it is difficult to place my personal stuff when you are bathing. I felt hot when sleeping in the dorm with no air-conditioning.
Review 92:The staff is very helpful and show me the must-go attractions in Prague. The size of the dorm is bigger and The bed is comfortable. The breakfast is delicious and you can eat until you are full. The hostel is in the vicinity of the city centre and you can go to the main attractions within walking distance.
Review 93:Wi-Fi was good but was not too fast in the room
Review 94:Staff was very helpful Rooms were clean and spacious Facilities were good They organised free beer crawls and city walks Big common room and kitchen Free Internet
Review 95:-street outside gets very noisey at times, yet the only way to cool down the rooms is to keep the windows open all night (no AC or other means of ventilation)
Review 96:-near downtown -helpful staff -great tour opportunities
Review 97:The hostel has a great location, all main the sights are in the walking distance. The staff is very friendly and supportive. The hostel offers a big number of activities and has all necessary facilities. I'm very glad that I chose this hostel for my stay in Prague and can definitely recommend it!
Review 98:Easy to find the location, bed is comfort, wifi is good, staff are good to let us keep luggage after we check out.everythg was satisfied.will come back again
Review 99:Great place to socialize and close to all the sites. You can easily disappear in your dorm if you don't want to be around the party! Staff were pretty rad. Prague is great dudes
Review 100:Sometimes a little bit loud if partiers come stumbling in, but that comes with the territory
Review 101:Central location, helpful staff, convenient breakfast, lots activities within the hostel, generally clean
Review 102:Just a very minor thing - perhaps more power outlets as I had to charge my phone etc in the bathroom. Nothing major :-)
Review 103:Staff were so friendly and incredibly helpful. Would go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. The breakfasts were definitely worth the money paid. Great location - close to everything.
Review 104:All of the receptionists are very kind.
Review 105:Perfect location
Review 106:The staff is awesome! We had a great thanksgiving dinner.
Review 107:a littlebit cold in the room :)
Review 108:everything is good staff and atmosphere
Review 109:Excellent services and ideal location to enjoy Prague. If people are traveling in Prague I would most definitely recommend this hostel.
Review 110:The activities of the staff especially Brent made the whole hostel like one happy family.
Review 111:it supplied everything i needed so it was a good choice for an older single woman traveler
Review 112:Everything is fine with me
Review 113:The location is so good that you can almost walk everywhere . There are many restaurants nearby .
Review 114:Nice location, best tour and staff
Review 115:Location near public transportation, center in 10~15min, clean, bank cafes and market right outside, room extra warm in winter
The Fine Print
