Reviews for ARVENA Kongress Hotel - Hotel in der Wagnerstadt
Review 1:No thing
Review 2:The staffs provided me with very friendly and helpful services to undertaking my unaccompanied-sent packet before my checking in the hotel, by which I was really helped. Excellent!! Breakfast was really wonderful.
Review 3:Just about everything about Arvena Kongress, Bayreuth, is outstanding. Brilliant staff, especially Adeli, who must be the best bar-tender I've ever met. The food, especially the breakfasts, is excellent.
Review 4:Internet is not reliable in the room, WiFi had to be set up several times a day.
Review 5:Very friendly staff, excellent service, room was cleaned promptly and efficiently.breakfast very good.
Review 6:The Arvena is a regular large conference hotel a bit away from the center of town, but at Festival time everything revolves around Wagner. Lavish breakfast buffet runs late, then light lobby refreshments beginning 1 1/hours before curtain. I didn't try the restaurant but after the opera they're ready for you (reserve). Air conditioning is welcome when temps hit 30C/90F! Short on local charm, but very comfortable. A good choice.
Review 7:The hotel allows dogs and the bar and corridors (of 2nd. floor) smelt of dogs. Not good!
Review 8:Very helpful staff. Good food in both breakfast buffet and evening restaurant
Review 9:Sterile congress-type hotel with no atmosphere. Breakfast room is dull, coffee without taste.
Review 10:We attended the Bayreuth festival and location-wise this hotel meets all requirements regarding location and logistics. Sufficient parking space in the garage.
Review 11:The wifi in my room was very weak!! I had to keep re-entering the password many times a day! Ate at the restaurant - not so keen about the dinner menu.
Review 12:Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast choice. Comfortable room.
Review 13:Of the two twin beds, one was excellent, the other less so, otherwise a good 4-star experience
Review 14:Excellent conference facilities, cleanliness and breakfast
Review 15:Some problems with aircon in the room but staff helped fix this. Staff did not offer wifi
Review 16:Amazing breakfast Helpful staff Very good opening hours Transport to Festpielehaus excellent Free parking was useful
Review 17:Decor is even more student dorm-like than the photos suggest. Plenty of hanging space, but no drawers, and limited shelving. Curtains are too thin for a lie-in.
Review 18:Spacious, air-conditioned rooms in a quiet location only 15 mins walk from town centre and 20 mins from Festspielhaus. Staff are pleasant and helpful, and my room was immaculately cleaned each day. The lavish 6-hour breakfast spread was the biggest attraction for me.
Review 19:Nothing I could think of.
Review 20:This hotel is about 2 km from town centre where you would find all places of interest. So if you do not drive, it may be a little bit inconvenience for some persons. Anyway, the hotel appears to have a shuttle bus (an antique type). But it appeared to have parked at the same position for two days, lol.
Review 21:Unreliable internet connection Big stones on parking makes parking difficult, hit one with rental car Unsufficient parking spaces, had to park on the street
Review 22:Good breakfast
Review 23:nothing
Review 24:-Videos on active display off main lobby during the day -Location + bus travel to Festspielhaus -Breakfast room with long open hours -Wagner memorablia, etc in lobby and elsewhere
Review 25:The only thing that irritated me about this hotel was the WiFi. It was slow, non existent at times and difficult to use as I had to sign in every day and also several additional times during any one day.
Review 26:Wi-fi wasn't working properly which they acknowledged, it should have been sorted for these prices. No tea, coffee in the room, room service not really encouraged, no breakfast cards on door. Usual wait to check in. High prices because of opera Festival.
Review 27:One of the more "international" hotels in Bayreuth. Makes Festival goers very welcome. Nice spa fitness area at top.Excellent breakfast selection. Good restaurant.
Review 28:Nothing - this was the third time I had stayed here for the Festspiele.
Review 29:1. Convenience to the Festspielhaus. 2. Daily buffet which is very comprehensive. 3. Accommodating staff. 4. Underground parking.
Review 30:You get a card with user name and password for wifi, and it's good for 24 hours, but I found the service cut in and out. Terribly frustrating.
Review 31:Good location if you are in town for the Wagner Festival; good bus service to the festival.
Review 32:Herr Mueller, our concierge at the Arvena Kongress Hotel in Bayreuth, went to the wall to procure our tickets to Tannhauser. He would not relent until we had our tickets in hand. I feel I owe it to Mr. Mueller that we were able to attend this performance at all. Bravo!!!
Review 33:Nothing to complain about.
Review 34:The breakfast is really very good indeed. Lots of choice and attentive waiting staff. The room was a good size and the TV was good. A good bath/shower. The staff were very good. The room was kept very clean. We enjoyed the snacks and drinks while awaiting the lift up to the opera house (in the vintage yellow car)
Review 35:For a hotel making something of a speciality of Wagner visitors, a bit of a letdown to be informed check-in not available till 3pm, given that we were there for 1 night and attending a performance at 4! This made for a little bit of stress in terms of getting ready for the performance immediately following check-in. The hotel should really consider this point.
Review 36:Late bar, good breakfast buffet. A well prepared hotel for wagnerites visiting Bayreuth for the performances in many ways, including coach transfers to the opera house. Actual check in and check out was painless.
Review 37:1 or 2Kb/s for the free wi-fi. Only simple browsing is possible. If you ask them about it, they'd recommend a EUR 13 day plan, but maximum speed is only 20 Kb/s.
Review 38:Very big room, but you've paid real money for that.
Review 39:Public wi-fi did either not work or was too slow to be usable (and you need to get a code for each device every 24 hours); smoky smell in the non-smoking room; dated bathroom; small beds; bus transfer to Festspielhaus in a very crowded public transport bus; much more expensive during Bayreuth Festival.
Review 40:Great breakfast/brunch buffet during the Bayreuth Festival with attentive restaurant staff; location (5 minutes to Rotmain shopping mall, 10 minutes to the old town, 20 minutes to the Festspielhaus).
Review 41:The hotel could offer more choices to take advantage of the kettle in the room - breakfast tea, coffee and creamer would be nice. If you want these, bring your own.
Review 42:Location (easy walk to town centre and festspielhaus), breakfast, air conditioning (a rarity here), wi-fi.
Review 43:We often had a very, very slow internet connection to the point where sometimes we had to give up and try again later.
Review 44:Although not posh, the hotel is well maintained, clean, modern enough and very, very comfortable. The service staff at the front desk, in the bar/restaurant, in the dining room for breakfast, and in room cleaning were all excellent. We liked the variety and quality of the food served at the breakfast buffet, and the fact that it was served through 1:00 pm each day was a real benefit to us as Festival goers. Our stay was for 11 days and it was a most pleasant experience. On my next stay in Bayreuth, we will book here again.
Review 45:Only a single bedside table Lack of drawers for clothes Miserable thin towels For two of us aged 70 and 63 the shower taps were difficult to reach. The soap dispenser was impossible to reach when taking a bath.
Review 46:Buffet runch, available until 1.30pm
Review 47:Although the internet connection for my laptop was OK, it was not possible to have internet connection in my iPad, which was very inconvenient. I sent an e-mail question to the provider Swisscom, on this matter, but never received an answer.
Review 48:In particular the availability of lunch, which is important for those going to the opera.
Review 49:It is modern and therefore is not very characterful, like some of the old traditional hotels in the town. However, everything works well, has air con. and probably not the quirks you might find in an old hotel!
Review 50:We have stayed at this hotel several times before. It is clean, the breakfast is good and it is easy to get to the Festspielhaus or alternatively to the town centre on foot (about 20 mins for either). Worthy of 4*. On site parking.
Review 51:All was good no negatives
Review 52:Great and very friendly staff and very Beds very comfortable. Great breakfast and a nice bar.
Review 53:old hotel needs renovation
Review 54:good wifi
Review 55:About 800m from town centre
Review 56:Large guest room. Free large carpark
Review 57:very friendly staff, well organized for accessing the festival (shuttle bus), very good breakfast buffet
Review 58:Erratic Wi-Fi on third floor
Review 59:Breakfast, brunch, dinner, and transport arrangements for Festival attendees
Review 60:Came for an opera, staff were very helpful and informative.
Review 61:the property has a very 80s motel feel from the decor to the atmosphere
Review 62:free upgrade!
Review 63:The room facilities need a technical overhaul.
Review 64:Convenient location and catering to Wagner Festival guests.
Review 65:Excellent. AC great. Whenever I am in Bayreuth, I will stay there.
Review 66:Nothing
Review 67:The quietness
Review 68:The "Brunch" was very good!!!
Review 69:An iron available had been great.
Review 70:Everything was very goog, inclusive the bus rakning us to the fest spiel house.
Review 71:I was using the hotel as a base for the Wagner festival and it was ideal for this.
Review 72:Way out of the center of town.
Review 73:Great property.......... new and nice and clean. Great staff and very helpful
Review 74:In my opinion it was to warm in the room.
Review 75:The beds were just rubber mattress.
Review 76:Air conditioning,breakfast excellent!
Review 77:location a bit far from University and other hotels used by Conference
Review 78:helpful staff; clean, comfortable room
Review 79:Great staff, great food, very comfortable.
Review 80:nothing comes mind.
Review 81:The location, large foyer, and friendly staff.
Review 82:Unreliable WiFi
Review 83:Close to Festspielhaus. Excellent breakfast and lunch buffet included. Chatting with other opera devotees from all over the world.
Review 84:Curtains were too thin, so it was too bright in the morning to sleep.
Review 85:Good location with parking and good breakfast.
Review 86:Excellent breakfast & brunch. Transfer to the Festspielhaus. Excellent courtesy of the staff .
Review 87:I found the cost of the hotel to be very expensive for the quality of the hotel.
Review 88:Close proximity to the centre of town
Review 89:location - close to center and festival house - but not too close! Staff were very helpful. We did not speak any German - they were great.
Review 90:Expensive during Festspiel.
Review 91:Good location. Excellent facilities and food Very expensive during Festspiel, but they all are!
Review 92:The halls smell of smoking, but my room was fine.
Review 93:The Staff were amazing, couldn't do enough to help. really lovely . the food also excellent, Would defiantly go back
Review 94:free bike in very bad conditions, only 1 (one) free bike for a very big hotel
Review 95:Wi-Fi free in all rooms, breakfast, brunch, silent room, not far to downtown, shuttle to festspielhaus
Review 96:The faucet mechanisms in the bathroom were somehow complicated, and soap was released with great difficulty. Also: the ventilation fan is noisy and it turns on at the same time when we switch the lightbon. That's bad design.
Review 97:the receptionists (mostly young women) at the main lobby were great, helpful and knowledgeable. The buffet for breakfast was gery good too....great variety of tasty food. Also: the tasty dining in the evening testifies to cooking by experienced chefs.
Review 98:The BEDS Arguably the most uncomfortable for sleep Would not return unless new beds were in place. set of beds.
Review 99:Fabulous Breakfast into lunch (for late sleeper)
Review 100:It would have been nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The safe was far too small for modern equipment, and fiddly small knobs making it difficult to operate.
Review 101:The breakfast was excellent. Good selection of a large variety of food and friendly helpful staff. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel is very clean. Cleaning staff very good and friendly.
Review 102:I was a singlr traveller and booked a table for two nights for a mealafter the performances. The table I was given was by a door leading tothe garden and I was constantly disturbed by waiters carring meals anddrinks through the door.I Would have cancelled the second nights meal ifI hadn't been promised a better table!!
Review 103:The refreshments provided for people before they left for the opera andbeing able to get a meal after the performances.
Review 104:For the price, the breakfast choice could be a little more upper-class:how about an egg-bar with different egg variations freshly made on-the-spot?
Review 105:Helpful reception stuff, but,above all,very charming and out-of-the-way helpful breakfast staff!Large,comfortable room,good wi-fi reception
Review 106:Signage for stairs needs to be more clear. The hotel was full because of a table tennis tournament and the hotel elevators unable to handle capacity of guests and wheelchairs.
Review 107:Very clean
Review 108:Public areas are little dated.
Review 109:Hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to historical town, easy parking, great breakfast selections. Rooms look renovated recently.
Review 110:Nice hotel, close to the city center (10min walk), internet ok butslow. Breakfast was good but the staff had some problems to keep upwhith the guests' consumption. Clean room, Nice wellness area. I wouldgo there again.
Review 111:It's conveniently located within about 20 mins walk of both the town centre and the Festspielhaus, so ideal for visits during the Wagner festival. Substantial brunch until 1330 on opera days and free transfers to the Festspielhaus. Excellent Wagner lectures in English by the Wagner Society of New York in one of the hotel conference rooms.
Review 112:No real complaints: Slightly negative points were that it is located in a quiet, not very central area and that furniture and design are a bit dated.
Review 113:During August, clearly catering for people attending the Festspiele: regular shuttles from the hotel to the Festspielhaus and breakfast extended to brunch (until 13:30) at no extra cost. Location is reasonably convenient for the Festspielhaus (about 5 minutes and 6-7 Euro by taxi). Other than that, a reasonable (though not great) business hotel. Breakfast / brunch selection quite extensive and good quality (including eggs made to order). Nice restaurant and bar with excellent service.
Review 114:No kettle in the room for making tea etc. BUT there was constant tea and coffee available in the restaurant.
Review 115:A superb hotel for visiting the Bayreuth Festival. The staff (friendly, helpful ), accommodation, food were all excellent. The hotel really has the needs of the festival goer well catered for. There is a superb breakfast/brunch which sets you up for going to the Festpielhaus on their fabulous transport. Coaches (small fee) are provided for getting back. Once back there is food available, rolls, cheese, meats, salad etc laid out or cooked food available. Getting back to the hotel at any time around 11.00pm would be a problem in most hotels but not here....its all ready for you. Drinks, snacks before you leave as well. Ive stayed in many hotels in Bayreuth and this was one of the best. Its fairly central so you can get to everything too. It is not ultra luxurious but it is exactly right for the festival. Films of past performances and of Wagner interest are screened throughout the day in the hotel if you have not had enough at the Festpielhaus. Computer/WiFi access, telephone all good.
Review 116:Somewhat bland architecture - typical congress hotel.
Review 117:The Wagner Festival in Bayreuth takes place in the summer and the weather is often very hot. This is one of the few hotels in Bayreuth with air conditioning. The architecture is typical of a conference hotel but the staff are professional, friendly and very helpful. A bus is provided to and from the Festival Theatre. We would undoubtedly stay here on our next visit.
Review 118:Very good hotel. Spacious, well-equipped rooms; very efficient airconditioning. Excellent breakfast. Friendly barman. Strongly recommended for Bayreuth Festival visitors: refreshments for operagoers before performances and transport provided to the Festspielhaus (and return if needed, but a brisk walk takes no more than 15 minutes); I will definitely stay there for my next visit to the Festival.
Review 119:Sterile, boring design - like a hospital. The rooms were fairly expensive, but this is probably normal for any hotel in Bayreuth during the Wagner Festival.
Review 120:Excellent location for the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth - easy walking distance to the opera house, but also very easy walk to the old town centre. The hotel went out of their way to accommodate the special needs of visitors to the festival (which overwhelms Bayreuth in July-August each year). Hours for breakfast, sauna/gym and bar were significantly extended for this purpose, and free snacks provided prior to each performance, plus a shuttle bus for a modest fee. And as one of the larger hotels in Bayreuth, it is a good backup choice when more charming hotels are fully booked. Huge breakfast included in the rate.
Review 121:Hotel is a little drab and ordinary. Dismal at night when the hallways lights are turned off. Staff is helpful but a bit cold (except in the restaurant, where everybody was very nice). Rooms can be a little drab. They need better lighting. It's basically a chain hotel; nothing special about it.
Review 122:Rooms and beds were comfortable. Breakfast/lunch buffet was included and excellent. Location was good for the Bayreuth Festival. Hotel catered to Festival-goers with shuttles to the Festpielhaus.
Review 123:Ideal for the Wagner Festival - the hotel is geared up for this and has a long breakfast/brunch, provides free transport to the opera and has a bar/restaurant which is open for a decent time after the performance. Staff really make you welcome. Also the quietest hotel I have stayed in for years.
Review 124:The mattress has a plastic cover which makes it quite hot
Review 125:It was a great location for the opera as it was within walking distance, the restaurant stated open late to cater after the opera, there were snacks provided before the opera And a shuttle service. This attention to detail made our stay worry free. The hotel is a short walk from the town center.
Review 126:The shower system is not easy to find, although it is written on the wall. Why on earth do modern hotels have to spend money for racket science system for something as simple as a shower, I will never understand. It's a detail, but it is unnecessary worry to figure out several minutes how to make it working. Otherwise, it was all fine.
Review 127:Large bedroom and twin beds. Coffee/Tee and appetizers for guests attending the Wagner Festival, waiting for the buses to ride them to the theater. Possibility to lunch or dine late. Reasonable parking fees.
Review 128:We Stayed at Arvenna Congress for Wagner Festival. This was our 6th visit. Very enjoyable. Lovely staff, especially the breakfast staff. And, excellent reception service. When I checked out I made abooking for next year, July 5th. to July 9th. I would be grateful if you would confirm this booking. Meanwhile, thank you once again for enjoyable time.
Review 129:Lights in the hallway would go out, and have to be switched on again, for no apparent reason.
Review 130:Staff member helpred me return to my room from the front desk, after lights had been turned off in the hall on my floor. The location was very convenient to the city center.
Review 131:Wifi connection was really bad.
Review 132:For us this hotel was conveniently located. Nice, clean hotel.
