Reviews for Omshanty Jungle Lodge
Review 1:Limited choice of restaurants nearby.
Review 2:Very helpful owner, simple, but decent accommodation in a nice setting. Good value for money, since more remote lodges are quite expensive.
Review 3:Right in front, across be road, there is a bar with music, but turns it off at reasonable hours. Remember, this is colombia!
Review 4:Kike is a very friendly owner. Everything is taken care of, clean rooms and bathroom. They are basic cabins, ideal to feel in the middle of the jungle. Beautiful plants, nicely taken care of. Good information and excursion arrangements.
Review 5:The downside of the location is that it gets very quiet in the evening, nothing to do from 6pm and you may feel lonely if you're a solo traveler.
Review 6:Good location in the jungle, comfortable cabana.
Review 7:Very little English is spoken in the areas as most tourists are either Columbian or Spanish speaking which can make it hard to get around on your own.
Review 8:The lodge is located 11 km out of Leticia, but close to good natural areas, parks and the jungle. The facilities are basic, but excellent value for money. The tours and activities offered were fairly priced and also good value for money. Kike (manager) is flexible and rearranged the tours to suit my exact needs, which included birdwatching and some adventure activities like the tree-top ziplining. The area offers a great Amazon jungle and river experience not yet tainted by being overly commercialised. Both my guides were excellent. Elias, the birdguide, has exceptional knowledge of birds and also speaks English.
Review 9:A hammock would be Nice
Review 10:A Nice place in a Forest area, next to to a Natural park. Very quit. Nice lodge. Orchids in the garden. You can have breakfast, lunch and dinner across the street. No wifi but you are near the jungle. There are monkeys at the back of the property. In the morning you can see thousends butterflies
Review 11:Awesome, we gave them a general idea of what we wanted to do and theytook care of everything: food, activities, transportation. It was agreat trip. Nikolai, our guide/translator was awesome as well.
Review 12:I wouldn't have changed a thing
Review 13:Great birding, the hostel arranged 5 tours for me that gave me a true feeling of the Amazon. Trips to local tribal villages plus a run up the river were fantastic!
Review 14:Evalutiones the selva and the Amazonia – it is excellent, an assessment of the organization of excursions – it is unsatisfactory.Namely, the excursion program was ordered by MALOCA, SELVA y DELFINES (4D/3N) . There were no the following sections declared in the program: 1) Ritual de preparación del Mambe (uso tradicional de la hoja de coca por la etnia Uitoto) of y charla con el abuelo 2) Salida nocturna opcional para realizar pesca o avistamiento de fauna 3) Pesca nocturna 4) Salida para avistamiento de fauna Point of the program about transportation was executed not completely. At return in the evening 29.03 from Puerto-Narinyo to Leticia it was necessary to pay for transport so as transport had't paid by Kike, it was necessary to pay off on a place with the driver. Money had not returned in the morning. We had paid the lodge for the period from March 25 to March 30. On March 29 on return from excursion it appeared that the lodge is populated with other people.Without our consent and during our absence personal transported our things to other place, and pure things were dumped together with dirty and wet, all were mashid. In completion to everything the part of things was absent, only after conflict the things were returned.Obligations have been fully implemented , from Kike didn't follow compensation. Conclusion: the selva is fine and without Kike, if there is an opportunity watch other options or accurately stipulate prior to excursions points of the program and speak about monetary responsibility of Kike for not performance.La apreciación: la selva y la amazonia – es excelente, la apreciación de la organización de las excursiones – es no satisfactorio.
Review 15:That I had to leave :/!
Review 16:In a beautiful, central location to local tribes. The proprietor, Kike, is very helpful with any trips you would like to take and very fair prices. He knows a lot of people and tours and will get you all set up. This was my second stay and I am ever so grateful to Kike for immediately setting me up with a Reiki healer, as he simply saw that I needed this and made it happen. That became a life changing experience. It's just not often that people will pool resources for you like that, especially at a lodging. Very beautiful landscaping, cozy little huts that are extremely well priced for what you get. If you ever need anything else, Kike is always there to help out :). I look forward to bringing good friends back next time!!
Review 17:- The kitchen facilities should be looked over. Some of the utensils were rusty and mouldy when we came there. - As is the case in all of the amazon - beware of the mosquitos at night. Although there are mosquito nets over the beds, make sure to wear lots of repellant - and if you can stand the heat - wear long sleeves and pants as well.
Review 18:We stayed in a bunglalow at Omshanty for two nights. The place is about 11km out of Leticia - in what can be considered the Amazonic countryside. Kike, the very nice and friendly owner, has really put his heart into it and his little "jungle village" is just awesome and really beautiful. A very relaxing experience. If you want to venture further into the Amazon, the people at Omshanty can help you with info about tours.
Review 19:If you want to experience the Amazon rainforest, start by staying at Omshanty. It's in an incredible setting, surrounded by forest, but close enough to town that you can get back easily if you need to (but why would you want to?). Kike runs a great place!
Review 20:The toilet in the Bungalow wasn't working and the shower head was missing. It wasn't a big deal as we enjoyed staying at Omshanty. Just don't expect a 5-star property as this is not what they are about but go if you want to get out of the busy Leticia town and enjoy a more rustic experience. We enjoyed our stay here
Review 21:The property surroundings are great. Enjoyed staying close to nature and there are many walks close to Omshanty that you can do solo. Enrique was a nice guy and came to check on us everyday and to assist with researching tours. Would recommend others to stay here.
Review 22:Not many options for dinner.
Review 23:I loved staying here. If you don't like bugs, cold showers, or the heat, don't bother coming here. Otherwise, you will have a great time in the jungle. Be sure to do the night tour, it was excellent. Also, take the bus to and from Leticia, it's only 2000 peso, compared to 10,000 for a tuk tuk.
Review 24:This place is far away from everything, so you have to catch a bus to get to town. There is no hot water--at all. I wore my flip-flops in the shower because there was no way I was letting my feet touch the floor. They really need to do some work on this place--or at least on the cabin where we stayed. Be sure and take something to eat since eating choices are very limited. I only saw the owner one time to pay him and ask for towels since there were none in our shack.
Review 25:Very little. After racking my brain, I decided that the only thing I liked was hearing the sounds of the jungle at night (which you wouldn't be able to hear if staying in town). There were a couple of "screams" that woke us up. A bird, maybe?
Review 26:It is a good base for birding the KM area. Actually the lodge itself is a good place for birding. I got Sunbittern along the trail at the first afternoon when I arrived the lodge! and spotted a Cinereous Tinamou in front of my house the next morning.....just sooooo excellent!!!
Review 27:Occasionally the neighbors in front play music way too loud 8(
Review 28:Jungle
Review 29:Just tell Kike what you would like to do and he will organize everything. if you need an English guide, definately ask for Niko!
Review 30:Everything was top notch.
Review 31:Door does not close complete, a minor problem.
Review 32:Jungle surrounding. Individual care by the owner Kike.
Review 33:Well-organized tours
Review 34:Quietness
Review 35:its far from the center of LETICIA
Review 36:this is a really cool place in the middle of the jungle. very quite
Review 37:Bring your own food
Review 38:Very nice ambience for a very good price (ideal for the junle experience on a budget)
Review 39:There was nothing I didn't like, except perhaps that I did not havethe foresight to book for longer.
Review 40:The location was wonderful, with great walks straight from the frontdoor of the bungalow. Kike, the owner was a wealth of information andreally helped us maximise our too short stay. Do not expect featherpillows and all the mod cons, this is jungle accommodation and you havea bed and a shower and enough equipment to make a decent meal. If youneed air-con and a tv set, go somewhere else, but you'd be mad notto want to stay here. The sounds of the jungle as you eat your eveningmeal or doze off to sleep makes you glad for the lack of the townsoundscape and all that it involves.
Review 41:It was all good. Just make sure you know the opening times of the small restaurant accross the road if you don't want to go to bed with an empty belly. Otherwise you can cook in the lodge, there are facilities
Review 42:Very good location, a bit remote but easy to reach by bus. It's amazing to wake up surrounded by a lush tropical garden. The owner will provide you with all the info you need to enjoy your stay in Leticia. Have fun !
Review 43:The bedding and towels were extremely "tired" as if they had been around for many years. The room was fine considering the price, but the shower pan was deteriorating and the shower curtain was ancient!
Review 44:The owner was extremely helpful.
Review 45:Superb place. Kike is the best manager I have ever met: attentive, friendly, helpful. He does everything generously, without an interest in further profits. The place is absolutely amazing, in a perfect situation to do lots of things. The food around is very cheap and nice (especially fich). Definitively, one of my best experiences ever. Only for adventurers.
Review 46:mosquitoes and more!Retrofitting to kill mosquito, street light sensor
Review 47:real living in the forest, the original.
Review 48:The place was amazing. It sits about 11 km outside of Leticia so you get a real feel of the Amazon.
